Yes I could probably take it to a place but I don’t think they take starlings. Also the baby is doing very well. Once he’s prepared to learn to fly I’ll bring him near his nest for a hour or so a day so he can watch other birds.
I found a nestling on the ground yesterday after very windy weather. I contacted two rescue organisations and the local vet in the process of working out what to do. This is exactly what I was advised to do and very concisely explained. I have put the bird back in a nearby nest. Just hoping it was the right one. I am happy 😊 to think that my having handled the bird would not caused problems with the parents.
Found a fledgling last night(I didn’t know it was one at the time)a cat had it and I shooed the cat away and other cats were praying on it, he didn’t want to fly and he was breathing heavily and would flutter away if i got close, I kept it in a box overnight and took it to a nature center in the morning, they told me it was a fledgling and to put it back where I found it, so I put it down where I first found it and after about a minute it flew to the hood at my car looked at me one last time and flew away.
😮 they always tell us to put them back. That makes me mad. It doesn't take a university course to learn what food is needed for what bird, or any other care. Yes, thank you! Same with juveniles, they are not normally mistaken for baby birds. I don't agree with what you said about them moving around though. If you were to find a nestling on the ground, it would pretty much just be flopping around or not moving at all. I specifically said in the video that fledglings are " able to hop or flutter around. They are also able to hold onto a branch by themselves." The being able to hold onto a branch and fluttering around, testing their wings is the main factor to help people not immersed in the bird world identify the stage. Just helped a ton. Had a bird nest in our gutter for Spring and decided to leave it alone until the birdies left the nest. The neighbors cat brought a live bluejay fledgling to my doorstep. I have NO clue where it came from and the closest wildlife rescue is over an hour and a half away. So, its up to me to try to save this little fella.

Great video we have a nest of four baby robins that I have been in our backyard watching for sometime. Try to ensure it up in case one felll out. Today one of the four is just sitting on the branch and I know it was just a matter of time and now it’s in the backyard which is why I needed to watch your video to make sure I was doing the right thing. Thanks again.
I have 3 of them under my poach right now. So this is how I found ur channel. They look good. Mom and dad r close I see them watching them. There r some cats out here. So I’m trying to just keep watch and keep them away. My kitty doesn’t go outside so I know she won’t bother them
I just went to cover the nest a bit with a very lightweight polythene and made sure it didn't tiuched the nest cuz it was raining heavily but instead the two fledglings hopped out and started hopping in random i tried to keep them in nest but they hopped out again and I'm feeling extremely guilty now
I helped a baby bird because my dog was playing outside and I herd a *cheep*and I put it back in the nest and it was learning how to fly. It was soooo cute thanks for the information about birds my mom and brother helped the bird. I have chickens and my mom was feeding them and I was holding the bird it was so little. That's so much
I dont know what to do, I came back from practice then I found 3 baby birds that fell out of the nest and the nest is split in half there is one baby left in the nest, I put the baby’s in a nest and hung it nearby but the birds are barely moving and it’s a cold day Edit: they didn’t make it
I found a fledgling just now outside my door. He freaked out when i first tried to grab him and he hid underneath a piece of outside furniture. after some inspecting, its clear his foot/leg is broken or lame. one foot is perfect, while the other one is curled up and immobile. His parents are nearby, watching. I put him in a box with some water and a crushed beetle. I will try my absolute best to leave him alone now bc when i leave my apartment, the parents fly away. unfortunately, they built their nest above concrete, so i bet its common for the fledglings to break a foot crash landing.
No choice but to keep nearly full feathered baby pushed 2 times from nest. Perhaps the runt since he was weak, but after third feeding much stronger with healthy poop. I play Swallow bird songs before feeding mealworms and soaked high protein cat food after squishing water off. Thanks for tips on raising. Hope he survives since all wildlife is in danger these days.
I'm thinking I found a runt also on my porch yesterday, he's fully feathered but very tiny. It can't fly at all and tries walking around but it's very clumsy lol. I brought it inside and have been caring for it, and it seems to be doing OK so far. I'm praying he will survive so I can release him once he can fly. I named it Jack.
thanks so much for this. I have found a tiny bird in my carport and he can hop around but not fly. after watching this video, I realize he is a fledgling and doesn't have a broken wing. I brought him inside because there are cats around. I gave him a drink of water, but am afraid to let him lose because of stray cats around. At least now I know he doesn't have anything broken, he's just learning to fly. thanks again for this, so so helpful.
@@GhoxtiezI just had a baby bird emergency.. I found one that was tangled in vines and hanging upside down by one leg for who knows how long. It was 90 degrees and fully in the sun.. not looking well. By the time I freed the baby and put it in a box.. I soaked a clean towel with water and let him suck on it and he was so happy. I too was happy I went this route when I learned that baby birds can choke on water if you drop it in their mouth. I think I made the right choice but I got lucky to have thought to do that.. Thank you for pointing this out.
We have a storage lot. Yesterday we moved the boat. We dud not notice the nest until we moved it. There are a live nest with 3 baby birds. I am grateful they made it through the night but have stopped chirping. Mommas cant find them. I played Robin calls through my speakers trying to get Moms attention. They are alive but have stopped chirping
I just took home a fletchling, i could not find the parents anywhere and i waited for a while i couldnt see anybirds or hear any apart from pigeons. Got anytips on looking after it? It still have some of the white fluffy baby feathers on it
I left a fledgling I found yesterday alone and it died within the hour. It never left that spot, wasn't injured, and parents still haven't come a day later. Screw you. It's nest was 10' away - it could have been saved so damn easy.
I got a baby bird today and it's a nestling But i took it to my house feed it water and some Milk, i know now milk not very good but idk what to do and i can't locate a nest where the bird from and i can't leave him with new nest in the tree Bec.. RED Ants are eating him, he got blood in his lower beak HELP
The one I found was a sparrow. It was on the side of the road with cars, dogs and their owners etc walking by in direct sunlight so I figured I couldn’t just leave it. So I put it in a nearby bush. It was a fledgling I think and it was moving with eyes open. So I was shocked to see it had passed while I was having breakfast nearby. I feel bad and wonder if there was anything else I could have done.
I don’t know if you will react my comment, but there is a really really bad storm in Illinois and the mom left him and the nest nowhere to be found. I don’t know what to do with him.
I found one fledgling bulbul bird. I fed it mashed fruit and it was okay for couple of hours then it's leg stopped working. It's not using its leg anymore. But it was using them fine before some time. I don't know what is happening and we don't have a vet nearby.
I brought a 3 baby Maya Bird at home. I found them at my school, my classmates found them inside our teacher's desk. They told our teacher (it's a nestling) But our teacher told them to throw it away and clean the desk. I didn't want them to throw those birds so I asked ma'am if I could bring them home instead so I did. I'm not a bird person, it's my first time- ;-; I'm searching tips etc to keep them alive. I have to keep my 2 cats and one French dog away from the birds so they won't hurt em
I found a fledgling at the back of my house out side and they are many stray and owned cats around my neighborhood roaming around , and this bird is just keep chirping at a trees and things in the air
I have a fledgling in a nest about 7ft high in my backyard and momma hasnt been seen for 3 days im wondering if i should do something as it cant eat and if it falls therea no returning to the nest.
A tree in my backyard I just moved into has baby birds falling out every week. I try to help and they always end up dying. The fall from the tree is really high and I can’t get to it to put them back. It’s heartbreaking and not sure what else to do. I’m tired of burying baby birds and not being able to save them. 😢
Someone help me! So we very often have this momma bird that lays eggs in her built nest in my house. She's laid eggs and flew with her babies many times. This time around, she had 2 babies, as always they hatched and grew. I noticed one baby flew away but there's one that hasn't. Yesterday I noticed the momma bird left the nest at night and was sitting nearby the fence, it was also flying infront of the baby bird, but it left after that. It's been almost a day and the mother bird didn't return. The baby is alone, I don't know what to do. The baby bird is not moving but it's breathing and looks fully developed. Why is it not flying? What do I do? Please help me I feel so bad
I rescued a tailor baby bird he is big enough to hop around I'm feeding him boiled rice, insects, fruits but he poops often after eating so I'm worried. So is it normal for them to poop often?
Not sure about this advice. There are plenty of people who have successfully rehabilitated their own nestlings and fledglings. I guess you have to be willing to commit to taking care of them. They say don’t handle too much or get too close because you can imprint the bird and will be difficult to release back into the wild.
Just the other day I had just driven away from home when I saw a sparrow flapping trying to escape a cat, managed to grab it, it was able to fly so after a rest and a drink we released it in the garden.
a fledling got hit by a car infront of me and now i have it in a box with water and some chiken food and a black berry but it lost most of its featers when it got hit hes doing better but idk where to set it free cuz i have a cat and i cant keep it in the house much longer please help me
Great video….Told me exactly what I needed to do with the little fledgling my dog found in the yard….3 didn’t make it….but this one did…Now I’m hoping mama bird comes back for this one, with its big pink mouth wide open….lol

I found 2 out of my backyard they're really fast cause we have actually we're not getting take them outside x we have and many cats in their neighborhoods like many one even lives here so I cannot take them outside we have a tree so that makes a lot of birds there and at the curling thank you cause I put something warm under their place and they have a lot of holes breathing because there are so many holes they can breathe in and they cannot scape in it escaped though because there cannot fly but one of them are a little bit comfortable and not running away with the other one is running away when is actually a little baby you want and then is a little bit older but I'm older but I know one of them are really scared.
I found a baby bird in my yard today I picked it up gently and it was trying to chirp but it couldn’t so I thought it needed water so I gave him some water through my finger to his beak and then he started flapping around but couldn’t fly and then he got very still and died in my hand 😞
Saw a fledgling when I was sweeping our balcony it eyes was close n still breathing came online found this video n kept the fledging bird back to where it fell from at the balcony.. But my mom said I should take it out of d balcony that it may attract predator 🥺so I took it a little far from d balcony placing a piece of cloth beneath the bird...what should I do... please quick response
Ive rescued a flegling from a cat its in my bathroom at the mo resting ,the parents ate going mad they are starlings the nest is on the roof guttering, too high and no ladder if hes ok in hr or so what should i do please 😢
I found a fledgling, it can’t hop but it has a lot of feathers and also can semi fly (maybe half a foot off the ground until going back down). I can’t release it around my house because there are MANY wild dogs and cats around my neighborhood. I actually have a large tree area that’s secluded behind my house (sort of a trail but there’s large areas of space where there are trees and kind of like a woody area). Can I release it there? I hope you get back to me soon because it’s outside in a box with a nest (one made from actual birds that I found on the ground abandoned ).
I think that releasing it there would be fine, it sounds like it has just left the nest and is working on finding how to do fly and move around, which can be difficult.
Once saw a bird on the ground and I thought he was sick bc ha seems to be unable to fly then after a moment 2 birds flew by and watch him. So that is his parents. It's funny because he looked like a normal full grown bird lmao. I can't even tell the diff but seeing his parents made me realize that he's just out here learning to fly lmao
So where I live I found a little tiny baby bird and I think it was a nestling who still has his feathers I think he was trying for the first time and she hit my neighbor's window and I was going to go play with my neighbor which is one of my best friends hit me and I think he hit the window
I brought the fledgling inside something is wrong with it's eye and it's morning now so I'm bringing it back outside this morning for mother to grab and care for
I just found a young baby bird unmobilized with his feathers developed. I put it in a box with a shirt to make it nest like. I couldn’t find its nest. It is refusing to move (unless I gently nudge it) or eat. Right now the nearest wild life rehabilitation center is 42 minutes away but closed. I’m worried the bird won’t make it through the night. It is warm and dark in my room. I’ve managed to get two very veryyy tiny pieces of very soft soaked dog food in its mouth. So far it is still very much alive but not moving still, or even opening it’s mouth. What do I do????
I would recommend contacting a wildlife rehabilitator, they can identify it and give it the proper care. It sounds like you have done everything right, although I wouldn't try and feed it.
well....HELLO! i am from India and yesterday i found a nestling and she was injured not that much just a wound i thing it will cover up soon and i was searching the nest but it was fallen in my gallery (building)*and i was confused that how the does it fall out coz there is no way and i have kept her into a holed box and hmmm given her food also and kept her on a towel but my main questions is that ....i found her nest i mean maybe its a nest in a hole up there in my gallery and the hole is connected to my flat and i have put plastic to prevent mosquitoes coming from there and now a days i can hear some sort of plastic noise coming out of there i think there is a nest and sparrows are also roaming near my gallery....so my question is that should i keep the baby bird means nestling back inside coz its dangerous also coz it is not having any support also it may fall again and not sure that which bird it is maybe its a sparrow or myna.......then what should i do specially in foods will u tell me that what homemade foods should i give it to little guy..means instead of give them there whatever outdoor food i mean the packed food then what should i give it.............pls help me
Probably contact a wildlife rehab, especially if it is injured because even a small wound can become infected. They may want you to bring it to them and they will handle the care, as baby birds have very specific diets and needs. It sounds like you have done everything right so far with having it in a dark box with air holes, on a towel. I would say not to feed it anything unless a wildlife rehabilitator tells you, as it can sometimes cause more harm than good. Best of luck!

@@dhruvrajput3608 Glad she is doing alright! I don't know much about mynas so I cant give you much information, but it is great she is happy and healthy!
The best course of action is to contact a wildlife rehab. See what they have to say. If it is uninjured and you can see the nest, put it back in. If it is injured put it in a secure, dark, and quiet place to stress it as little as possible and take it to a wildlife rehab. Do not try to feed it and remember to always wear gloves when handling wildlife.
My neighbors had a tree cut down and my husband found a baby bird in the nest on the ground and brought it home he has lots of feathers should I bring the nest and bird back to the cut down tree
if it was still in the nest i would recommend returning it, then watching to see if a parent returns, it is possible that they may have been spooked by the tree being cut down. If a parent does not return, contact a wildlife rehab and get their opinion on what to do next
Because i have no idea what to do with them and im almost 100 percent that their song thrushes and cant really take care of them this happened yesterday
If it is a nestling that needs help, contact a local wildlife rehab. They will give you exact details, but you could use some other type of container or bin.
@@mastershifupr16 If the baby bird is mobile enough to follow the mother, most likely it is a fledgling and is supposed to be out of the nest and is just learning how to fly.
My husband found a couple of fledglings under our car, and he attempted to put them back in their nest but afterwards one disappeared and the other just jumped to the ground. My daughter tried to put it back again but he continued jumping. We put a bird feeder and water bath fir its mom, but the mom hasn't come back. I'm not sure if the parent will come back, but I'm scared to do more harm than help. It seems to be tired because it's really hot outside
The fledglings won't want to be in the nest anymore while they are learning to fly. If the parents do not return to care for it in any way, I would say contact a wildlife rehab and see what they say.
@@birdnerd5631 Well, I put a hosta plant in a pot next to the fledgling for kinda hiding it, and was checking but suddenly was gone. I hope its fine. 😔 thanks for the tip, though.
i founnd a fledgeling sparrow in a road filled with wild dogs and pet cats...had to bring it home before it became cat food...i am having a hard time feeding it
Not really, usually if it is sitting with eyes closed it is a sign of something wrong, since that would be putting it in danger. It could be if it is in a safe area or in high temperatures, but that is not as likely. Also, there is a illness circulating in parts of the U.S. that does cause some eye problems especially in fledglings, so if you are in that area that is something to consider. Does the fledgling exhibit any other problems?
@@birdnerd5631 I tried to coax it to move, it hops along, tries to fly a bit, then just lands and kind of face plants, and closes its eyes. It's eyes will open and appear healthy if I pet it's tail. I spoke with a local rehab, and they said of it appears to still be struggling that much in a couple of hours, to bring it in. I'm just nervous it will die between now and then. But I know absolutely nothing about them. Based on research it appears to be a house sparrow.
It's been sitting in the exact same spot for about an hour how. I'm in Upstate NY. No 4 legged predators on our property. No cats anyways. It's not too warm yet.
@@TKO-NY Ok, you did the best course of action which is to contact a wildlife rehab. There is not much you can do to help in that time period, but try to avoid contact with it as much as possible so that you dont stress it out, and just make sure no large creatures get to it.
@@birdnerd5631 last time I checked on it, it bad hopped along quite a ways to be under a tree. It seemed very much more active, almost as if it needed a nap!
So we just took it back. They parents went to it but I didn't want to leave it right where someone would step on it and I moved it under the bush near by! I'm going to check on it tonight

It was soooo cute thanks for the information about birds my mom and brother helped the bird. I have chickens and my mom was feeding them and I was holding the bird it was so little. That's so much
I dont know what to do, I came back from practice then I found 3 baby birds that fell out of the nest and the nest is split in half there is one baby left in the nest, I put the baby’s in a nest and hung it nearby but the birds are barely moving and it’s a cold day
Edit: they didn’t make it
I found a fledgling just now outside my door.
I found a baby Bluejay. It fell out of a tree in my neighbors lawn and got attacked by ants.
😢😢
Why i hate ants

At least now I know he doesn't have anything broken, he's just learning to fly. thanks again for this, so so helpful.
you're not supposed to feed it water, it's really bad for them and they could actually die even its a fledging.
Good Job you are very kind. Thank for sharing this tip.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Found a fledgling after the recent hurricane storms. Should I bring it back to the spot I found it or wait and find a wildlife rehab?
I just took home a fletchling, i could not find the parents anywhere and i waited for a while i couldnt see anybirds or hear any apart from pigeons. Got anytips on looking after it? It still have some of the white fluffy baby feathers on it
I left a fledgling I found yesterday alone and it died within the hour. It never left that spot, wasn't injured, and parents still haven't come a day later. Screw you. It's nest was 10' away - it could have been saved so damn easy.
I got a baby bird today and it's a nestling But i took it to my house feed it water and some Milk, i know now milk not very good but idk what to do
and i can't locate a nest where the bird from and i can't leave him with new nest in the tree
Bec.. RED Ants are eating him, he got blood in his lower beak HELP
No wildlife rehab in my country!! This so sad I'm crying
There probably wasn't, poor little guy :(
I just found 2 baby birds in my basement. Should i just leave them there? They do look like fledglings.
I don’t know if you will react my comment, but there is a really really bad storm in Illinois and the mom left him and the nest nowhere to be found. I don’t know what to do with him.
I just found a fledling in my balcony. Good that I researched this. I let it be.
I found one fledgling bulbul bird. I fed it mashed fruit and it was okay for couple of hours then it's leg stopped working. It's not using its leg anymore. But it was using them fine before some time. I don't know what is happening and we don't have a vet nearby.
My grandma is taking care of baby birds that my dad found abanded. Should she still take care of them and feed them or take them to a wildlife?
what should I do if the sparrow sapling got cold and died? but unfortunately this happened this morning because we adopted and cared for him yesterday

well I kind of took in the fledgling and it’s in a bird house in my back yard right now in a comfy area In the bird house so what do I do now ?
I brought a 3 baby Maya Bird at home. I found them at my school, my classmates found them inside our teacher's desk.
They told our teacher (it's a nestling)
But our teacher told them to throw it away and clean the desk. I didn't want them to throw those birds so I asked ma'am if I could bring them home instead so I did. I'm not a bird person, it's my first time- ;-; I'm searching tips etc to keep them alive. I have to keep my 2 cats and one French dog away from the birds so they won't hurt em
What if its ALMOST Fledgling, but it's still in the nest. And the tree got cut down andnit cant fly?

I found today it's fledgling bat it cant fly so i took him and take care and hinever ate why?
I found a ? in my bird house and don’t know if it is abandoned!
This just happened. I did all you said. But when i went back to check it had passed. Im so sad rn.
Aww, poor little thing
I rescued a tailor baby bird he is big enough to hop around I'm feeding him boiled rice, insects, fruits but he poops often after eating so I'm worried. So is it normal for them to poop often?
Not sure about this advice. There are plenty of people who have successfully rehabilitated their own nestlings and fledglings. I guess you have to be willing to commit to taking care of them. They say don’t handle too much or get too close because you can imprint the bird and will be difficult to release back into the wild.
Thank you. Very helpful.
Just the other day I had just driven away from home when I saw a sparrow flapping trying to escape a cat, managed to grab it, it was able to fly so after a rest and a drink we released it in the garden.
I found two after my cat came with them in the night so I needed to take them in hope it was the best option

For fledgling I have a question do they still open their mouths for food because I THINK I saw one fledgling.
2 birds I found fell out a big and I get get them back up the tree so I took them home with me and I still have it still
Found abandoned fledgeling caring for it. Its legs of the bird seem to hold each other is this normal?

Where do I find the link about where to take him?
Hii guys, i have found a nestling baby and it is injured by other birds . What to do
What if the parents aren’t coming to get the fletching?
What if your cat brought it in and can’t find nest 🪹 in Vegas . Brown looking nestling I think . I have many feral cats can’t bring back out .
Very helpful vid thank you so much🥰
You are very welcome! Glad you enjoyed!
Hi I found fledgling baby bird but he is in my garden from last evening.
So where I live I found a little tiny baby bird and I think it was a nestling who still has his feathers I think he was trying for the first time and she hit my neighbor's window and I was going to go play with my neighbor which is one of my best friends hit me and I think he hit the window
Great job!
I found 2 nestlings couple days ago, didn't feed them, called rehabbers and got no response so that didn't work and they died over night 😢

I found two dead birds in my front yard. One was out of its shell and the other one was in its shell but it was bleeding.
It is a fledgling but my cat bit his neck
What if it's in the middle of fledgling and nestling
There's not a official stage between the two. www.birdsandblooms.com/birding/attracting-birds/bird-nesting/stages-of-baby-birds-life/
I just found a young baby bird unmobilized with his feathers developed.

What if the bird built their nest above concrete? How do the babies get down?
Okay I found a baby bird. I know now that it's a nestling. What do I do to keep him alive. It's really hot outside
We've still got them today fed them some watered dog food they look less than a few days old
thank you
I have questions if I don’t have box them what I do?
If it is a nestling that needs help, contact a local wildlife rehab. They will give you exact details, but you could use some other type of container or bin.
What if mom don’t care baby bird I put baby bird outside but he follow mom but mom dont grab baby or I don’t know
And I’m try find nesting but there no nesting
@@mastershifupr16 A nestling is a stage of a baby birds growth.

What to feed them?
i founnd a fledgeling sparrow in a road filled with wild dogs and pet cats...had to bring it home before it became cat food...i am having a hard time feeding it
Good vid but the thing is I’m in Morocco and there is no rehab or vets near
And it’s a nestling
Is it common for fledglings to just kind of sit with eyes closed for periods of time?
