I think this clip dates from the 1975 UK referendum known as the Common Market Referendum held on 5th June 1975 to check the support for membership which was automatically done on 1st January 1973.
If there were millions more in Britain and all of Europe who thought and acted like Alf, think what Europe and the UK in particular would be like in 2018 or later.
Alan McDonald - If there’s any quotes from the time of filming then your claim would maybe hold water. It’s a nice but if backtracking from Warren to say it was satirical many years afterwards when times and views had changed.
Alf Garnett came before Archie Bunker. Till Death Us Do Part started in 1966 here in Britain with Alf, your version in the US started in 1971. So I think Alf has more experience of being the utter bigot.
Actually Archie Bunker is based on this series. In the credits of Bunker of series 1 you'll see its 'based upon' credit as this series was actually licensed by Johnny Speight + The BBC as a format to the Bunker creators. Doubt me? Check Wiki. Check VT of the series too. But in closing you are spot on here. Hats off.
Apologies if you now know the answer, it's from the "The Alf Garnet saga" a spin off movie from a uk tv comedy series which was called "Till death us do part" ruclips.net/video/7XJ5cxue_-o/видео.html

how true did this become !!!
Seems most people don't realise it is satire
Britain's gone to shit now, seems like you don't realise that you're a fucking idiot
Warren Mitchell was a true socialist ,he was annoyed when people thought Alf was a version of himself.
lol satire at its best in its time

The actor who played Alf was always amazed that people didn't get the satire.
Alf's views are for ridicule

Hilarious
ace series
This guy could give Archie Bunker a run for his money in the bigot department. Great stuff!

Archie Bunker is the sanitized American version. Archie was Alf Garnett rewritten for more delicate American sensibilities.
