Hello, I'm Roger, I love experiments. I build miniature models of dams, to describe how dangerous a dam failure is, how it causes flash floods and disasters, how the power of water is much greater than we have ever thought about it. If you have any challenges for me, please leave them in the comments below. Thank you!

Unfortunately, that waterproof cutaway deserves most of the credit there. It held this thing better than it would be by itself.

This isn’t exactly a realistic scenario but for the sake of future projects… having a developed layer of topsoil, mainly grass, goes a long way in preventing erosion. More specifically on hillsides.

This was too much fun to watch, i especially loved the part where the water flowed through the bunker and took out the entire hill - satisfying to say the least!

If you’d like some plants that don’t take a lot of work and could simulate trees/bushes/greenery, moss is always an option. Spider plants grow pretty fast and their root system can spread out a lot. (They won’t look like trees though which is a bummer.)

Yeah! Love the new layout with bridge and waterway below the dam outlet. Once again the damage and carnage is epic.

That was neat. Thankfully, most people know not to build on top of a sand dune. The underground bunker turned out to be a death trap. At least the people up top could try to swim to safety.

most doomsday bunkers would be made of lead or stone, not wood and covered with sand, that and buildings are bolted down to the foundation using J. Bolts so they don't get pushed over easily (note that houses in major storms get weakened by damage first, not instantly pushed over)

I have a suggestion for a future dam: You should make multiple dams in a row and each one is different. For example, maybe one is entirely made out of bricks.

would it be possible for you to put a thin darker layer ( darker sand or other material) to demonstrate the subsidence that causes the initial cracking on top in this type of set up?

This was fun to watch. Now I'm thinking more sandbox games (no pun intended) need occasional flooding and earthquakes that would temporarily or permanently shape the landscape of the game.
