This week, I spent $10,000 to build a GIANT Minecraft ecosystem for my axolotl! It has poisonous predators, microscopic wonders and even simulates REAL weather! My axolotl Lime just turned 1 and to celebrate I built her dream Minecraft ecosystem. With the help of Matthew Beem, I created thousands of realistic looking Minecraft blocks and transformed Lime’s tank into her dream house! It has a lush cave and a tropical jungle with real bugs and looks just like Minecraft IRL. The top of our ecosystem is a giant rainforest and underneath is a huge vivarium for our axolotl. So far we’ve built a Minecraft lush cave, Minecraft coral reef, Minecraft shipwreck and a Minecraft turtle biome. What should we build from Minecraft next?

Blue axolotls are not real. The axolotl you saw was likely a GFP (Green Florescent Protein) axolotl, which glows green-blue under certain types of light. A leucistic or albino axolotl under blue light would also make it have a blue appearance.
