I played this over and over the year my husband died. This still encourages when I need it. It got me through some of my darkest darks. Forever thankful.
The first gig I ever went was James a young 13yr old told my folks I was staying at friends, a few cans of redstripe and this song and that night has influenced my life ever since!
I'll sing myself to sleep A song from the darkest hour Secrets I can't keep Inside of the day Swing from high to deep Extremes of sweet and sour Hope that God exists I hope I pray Drawn by the undertow My life is out of control I believe this wave will bear my weight So let it flow Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy Now I'm relieved to hear That you've been to some far out places It's hard to carry on When you feel all alone Now I've swung back down again It's worse than it was before If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy Those who feel the breath of sadness Sit down next to me Those who find they're touched by madness Sit down next to me Those who find themselves ridiculous Sit down next to me Love, in fear, in hate, in tears Down Down Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy
@@2001KWin case you still dont know, james are one of the best bands in the world and are still creating amazjng songs in their 40th year (joint best with rem for me)
I agree with each of you. Being at a gig when people are chatting or recording it on their iPad above their head is so annoying. However, they could nod their head, sway or smile.
When a band plays an intimate, acoustic gig like this, stripping down the arrangements so that the lyrics and messages are brought to the front, this is the perfect way for an audience to react. It's almost like listening to a symphony orchestra. Sit still, be quiet and let it wash over you. Afterwards, clap and let the band know they really connected with you. But while they're doing so, just immerse yourself in it.

How can it be the saddest-happiest and happiest-saddest song at the same time? It makes me want to dance around the room while crying.

These people filled a huge void in music, and still do. Majestic.
Great comment, majestic, so, King James?
God I love this track. This is my my college days. ❤️
Still love this song so much, reminds me of my younger days in the night clubs
Immer noch super - James !
These sessions are meant to be like a studio session, but with an audience. And I'd bet 80% of the audience never heard the song before lol
Perfect! Holy shit, this is *exactly* what I needed 💜🖤💜
james = cure
The sound guy never realised that the guitarist’s vocal mic was turned down. So much for harmonies.
Incredible. Really incredible
Tim is such a kind humble guy. Leeds United fan. MOT
jpa221 from Leeds apparently
@@topcat01 Tim's from Bradford. Close enough
@@thescottishcrusader2781 no one admits they're from Bradford tho 😂
@@topcat01 true. I have been to some really shit places in England (Hull, Nottingham and Blackpool upon others) yet Bradford takes the cake by a mile

beautiful
I'll sing myself to sleep
A song from the darkest hour
Secrets I can't keep
Inside of the day
Swing from high to deep
Extremes of sweet and sour
Hope that God exists
I hope I pray
Drawn by the undertow
My life is out of control
I believe this wave will bear my weight
So let it flow
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Now I'm relieved to hear
That you've been to some far out places
It's hard to carry on
When you feel all alone
Now I've swung back down again
It's worse than it was before
If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they're touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me
Love, in fear, in hate, in tears
Down
Down
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Crying...so good.
found this song thanks to GOT, its amazing..
Proper band - tempted to say they deserved more commercial success - but actually did they need it ? Those that know - know
I Don't know, explain please
The sold millions of albums no way they were not commercially successful

This is the real James wow I thought I was watching a cover when I clicked it. I cover this song
Did they wheel in some shop window dummies to standin for an audience?
Strange. That guy at the mic looks like a Batman villain.
Are they perform for aliens or something? how could they have not heard Sit Down. 🤔
Ready, steady poo.
