Lots of brain power to use for this exercise! My mother in law loves things like this to keep her 87 year old mind active, hands nimble, and her handwriting is still gorgeous! She actually taught my children cursive because they took it out of the elementary curriculum here.
Yes! Lots of brain power -- but I love a meditative challenge like this. Kudos to your mother-in-law for staying sharp and keeping on creating! It sounds like your kids are lucky to have her as a grandma. ☺️
You are very welcome! I hope you get some good use out of it. :) Remember that you can print it as many times as you need to until you start feeling comfortable with its exercises!
Thank you so much! I've always felt like my spacing was way off.... this makes me feel so much better. Hopefully practice will improve my visual judgement.
I promise that it will. Practice is the only way to get better, and this worksheet provides super targeted practice when it comes to spacing. :) Enjoy!!
Thank you Lindsey sooo much for all your help with all your tutorials, videos, tips, advice and the teachings of so many calligraphy things. My letters are still shaky and the spaces are going on the better side by the drills. Sometimes I should leave the dishes and care little about housework…that never ends 🤷🏻♀️ I have advanced but still much to learn! Thank you ☺️ much
I didn't realize there was a video for using this. Thank you so much! This just made may day. Practice will be so much easier without having to guess what to do! I should have looked sooner.
I'm so glad this made your day, Dana! I'm always happy to help, let me know if you ever have any questions that I can help clear up! I appreciate your support, thank you!
Spacing has been an ongoing pain-point for me -- I'm so thankful you posted this worksheet! I can't wait to get started (and yes, the cross-drill oof the alphabet IS cool-looking!) Cheers!
Thank you! You are so generous with your knowledge. I’ve learned so much from your worksheets and tutorials. I just got your watercolor illustrated map video course. I’m excited to start! Thanks again for all you do💕
This is a wonderful drill. I'm anxious to try this...after Christmas. Lindsey, I seems that when you dip your pen, it's mostly the tip. When I dip, its up to the little vent hole so I can write a little longer, or is it necessary. I started rinsing my nib in water as you recommended...really helps.
Dip your pen in the ink at a depth that's comfortable for you! It's totally personal preference. :) I'm so happy to hear that rinsing has helped -- yay!
This is a great tool. Not easy for sure hahaha..my first try was a mess but it is getting better. It has helped me a lot to be conscientious about spacing. Thank you Lindsey
You got this, Mayra! I love that you're determined to learn, don't let a few messy attempts discourage you. You'll have it in no time, keep practicing! Please let me know if I can clear anything up and help you with this process.
Wouldn't this build incorrect muscle memory and we'll all we running around having these huge spaces between our letters? I agree tho that spacing is one of my biggest challenges minus a few problem letters/combo's that I often screw up. Got anything on connecting different letters together?
That's a good question! In my experience, spacing cross drills don't build incorrect muscle memory -- they train your eye to judge spaces between characters and work toward making them consistent. :) As far as connecting different letters together, the best I've got are worksheets with word practice. The more words you write, the more you'll be able to achieve nice spacing between the characters, for sure! thepostmansknock.com/product-category/learn-calligraphy/calligraphy-worksheets/
