Heard a lot about Kingdom for years. I needed something to fill my Berserk or Vinland Saga seinen type manga and ended up absolutely loving this series. Even though its a very long series, it reads so fast. I hadn't even noticed I was 300 some chapters in after a couple days. This manga is absolutely fantastic.
NGL, I dropped kingdom like 3 times ,but when I wanted something to read something close to Berserk and Vagabond, I decided to pick up the series . 2 months later and its on my top 5. Especially the Coalition War Arc( in my opinion ,its the best War Arc in Manga History,if not in all of fiction) . Now I'm at the current arc and I hope the story doesn't slow pace but I hope its not rushed ,like other mangas with great stories but got rushed at the last chapters.
I did make my friend to read this manga by saying "you know lelouch, and how he handle the war? Then imagine 5 lelouch fighting and scheming each other in a war"
Always wanted to read a story/play a game where the characters slowly grow. ( over a long period) it’s so impressive Shin has been slowly getting better. Although I’m still wondering where Duke Hyou’s shield is. Wanted to see him use Sei’s sword and the Duke’s shield. I love Ouki’s Glaive. But I’m hoping there’s an arc where Shin has to learn to be more defensive hence bringing the shield up. Or giving the Shield to En, or Kyoukai since they both actively protect him. Not to mention early on characters would die, and Shin would actually grow as a character. Which lined up with the story being more serious, complex morally and politically.
One of the best traits about this series, is you can actually feel Sei’s desire of unification. When a certain general does something that will create more hare he actively tries to remedy the situation. Not to mention between Sei, Shin and Riboku none are bad guys. Even Kanji has his reasons. Not saying having reason makes an evil action okay. But I do like that there are barely any “bad guys” that from every characters perspective they’re doing the right thing. The bad guy being humanity/war itself and destruction. But Sei is working to get to peace. And others are trying to prevent utter destruction. Protecting its people/.citizens & cities. Yes some kings are evil pieces of shit but as of now play a minor role. Banishing some generals, they may play a bigger role as unification becomes more possible, because even Sei must follow rules, and if a shitty king refuses to but Sei does. That may change an empire.

btw I love kingdom but I don't like much the houken/kyokai part about mysticism abilities, on the later works a little but still feels out of place in the overall story. Thankfully seems it will shift his focus to more warfare focused arcs as deep as the author is in the story. Today dropped chapter 682 and instantly became one of my favourites of the whole manga
The mystical aspects feel too fake for the story. I’m fine with it being there but I think it should be explained away as being actually possible but the characters in the story just exaggerate.

I can appreciate the mysticism as it fits with the time period and adds that extra bit of flavor in the story. And it was all pretty explainable (Busshin just being a figurative god of martial prowess and Kyokai's abilities just being a certain state of mind + years of assassin training), but it went too far for me when you know what happened with Shin after the big fight (not going into details because spoilers) that was pure plot-armor and just unexplainable BS
Which app or website do you use to read this? Having trouble finding apps that include the mangas I currently read without the app being complete trash. I don't mind paying for the app as long as it has titles like Kingdom, One Piece and Tales of Demons and Gods to name a few.
