En-San character development was nostalgic from a court messenger to a Lieutenant .....man Kingdom gives you a great character development for many characters in the series
Honestly, its the treatment for all the characters in this series that's got me so madly in love with it. Any named character's always got a story, and any named character can really be ANYTHING, ranging from the mightiest general with the most cunning intellect all the way down to a rank and file soldier that's meant to add more humanity to the series. It's because of this treatment that I find this series incredibly compelling and gripping. It goes out of its way to feel so REAL, and it's paid off enough, at least with me, that it's shaped how I make D&D Campaigns with possibly too many named characters to a fault.
I especially love these stories of "normal people being as trusted as the turbo elite warriors" like En's, and while I completely understand why he's had less and less screen (page?) time, I honestly find that fading into obscurity like that to strengthen the narrative, because it makes it feel more real for someone to just fall off like that while still being associated with such a renowned group.
Spoilers and unrelated tangent alone
Mister Hara is an incredibly fair writer to his characters. I saw many people complain about Shin showing favoritism towards Kyou Kai's sister, but I honestly think that adds a reasonable negative character trait to our protagonist after he's glamorized war, generals, and all that so much, and slowly had that image crumble down with his experiences with Kan Ki and other similar malevolent individuals and groups.
I honestly think this story is pretty solidly-written, and for me who doesn't have many other series to compare it to, I'd personally say it's masterfully written.
I’m pretty sure they say that a big part of the reason why En is such a great leader because he’s incredibly relatable, his soldiers see themselves in En. En doesn’t possess inhuman strength. If En can cross the river, they all can. If En can rush forward into battle, they all can.

En is the best. Him joining Shin when Ouki sent him off.
He also portrays an important aspect. Many of the other officers are exceptional or special in some way.
En represents fits in with the average. Meaning if he can do something the others feel they can too. While other officers have crazy strength, amazing swordsmanship etc.
En being the most dependable guy, in a group of dependable people. Him having a family really makes his character that much more important.
The writing too just before this happened new recruits came in, many were unsure of themselves. But for his confidence to raise up, as the troop. I swear every time I reread, someone is cutting onions nearby.
This is basically the only moment En has

Great video, I liked En since the very first time he showed up but after that chapter I stopped taking him for granted and appreciating him a lot more.
Kingdom is so good at reminding us how something like crossing a river is tough on top of having to have the energy to fight.
Our main characters fail frequently and immeasurably bad ways. And In the hundreds or thousands that I have to sacrifice themselves to make up for that mistake. Sorry
Mad respect to En, even without having the initial thoughts of being apart the war, he stayed and took a role of commanding officer. That takes a lot of guts and we can see Shin's respect for him with the scene of them crossing the river

En is just some ordinary peasant that become just as strong as some random professional soldier (i dont even think he is as strong as an elite soldier let alone generals) due to his constat involvement in war. But despite that the dude is shin's either first or second trusted officer the other one being kyoukai which is just as strong as shin himself while also having incredible leadership and strategic mind, and that is saying something about en, the dude is just as dependable as kyoukai while not as strong or gifted as her, all beacuse of his sense of responsibility that imo cannot be match by anyone else, so if shin trust him to do something u know he WILL accomplish it no doubt, that is how awesome lieutenant En is!!
En-san is also my favorite character, I always imagine myself to him. One of the best videos about kingdom! hope you will continue it.

I go read over “the responsibility of a lieutenant” chapter often, it’s the only chapter I can name by name, and scenes, and feelings. This video had my tearing up, just like reading the chapters building up to this scene
This was such a nice video! I literally just finished this campaign and it was great! I completely agree, I never expected En to get this kind of depth and growth and just his POV to be shown at this point and him getting that bit of spotlight, showing us why he was chosen to be a lieutenant. En is not my favorite, but boy is he a little thing that wears an Owl outfit I dare to forget her name I deserve death, and Ei Sei.
In other words, En is one of the first braves, his growth is unbelievable I followed along the rope in the current with him without problem.
Kingdom could be one of the greatest manga~>game. Games.
A mixture of Dynasty Warriors when Shin/other characters are in giant melees, but have more Lu Bu type characters, and leaders dueling ( if win, morale boosts or have a few minutes of the enemies running before they regroup, others similar to Duke Hyou the soldiers get buffed going berserk. Total War. ~ So you can actually put tactics into use, while selecting a soldier or general to go to first person. Depending on rank that many people follow you.

As someone who has watched the anime it’s kinda unfair to say it sucked when it was only the first season with bad animation, the animation gets really good as the show goes on i would recommend it.

I ll just say the anime didnt suck. season 1 was pretty bad since did the cgi but if you push past it the story itself was top notch and from season 2 onwards it just got even better this anime deserves way more exposure then it gets
