I drove out and filmed put in/take out points on the upper Guadalupe River. The upper Guad is an amazing and beautiful 230 mile long river starting the Texas Hill Country and running into San Antonio Bay (Gulf of Mexico). The most scenic sections are the Texas Hill Country areas running from Hunt Tx to Canyon Lake. This upper section is very rain dependent for flow. Spring rains can bring BIG water, know your skill set and research your trip for known portages. Lack of rain can also be a problem during the winter and lead to a lot of dragging. Fishing: guadalupe bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, rio grande cichlid, striped bass, white bass, and rainbow trout in some areas. Go Explore!
Schumacher's Crossing - Ingram Boat Ramp 4.6 miles.
I-10 Comfort - James Kiehl Park 6.8 miles.
James Kiehl Park - Waring 4 miles.
Waring - 1376 Sisterdale 7.8 miles.
1376 Sisterdale - 474 Bridge 11.5 miles.
Great job! Thanks 🙏
My Man, this is legit information for so many to enjoy! Thanks for being a good man.
thanks 👍
action bronson killin it again with the put ins and take outs. thanks bubba!
😂 thanks Russell
One of the best if not the best guides to put in and take out points for the Guadeloupe River in my area! Thank you! The time and effort you put in is top notch!
Thanks for the encouraging words, Eddie!
THANK YOU 🤯
Nice video man!
Thanks Nathan
Thanks! Very helpful.
Just did the comfort at I-10 all way to waring. It was like 11 miles. Didn’t even think to ask the warning country store they have.I happen to catch the local sheriffs dept driving around and told them I would be leaving my car. They were very helpful!!
That's great to hear, thanks for the feedback 👍 how was the flow right now?
@@tgcanoesandkayaks We went in late January. Flow was okay, had to get out and drag a few times which was not fun haha. Next time We go Were going to wait until the water is 120 cfs minimum. I think when we went it was like 50ish cfs.
@@thatdude4000 yeah I'm with you, I'll be up there again as soon as we get some rain again. Love the upper Guad!
@@tgcanoesandkayaks nice so does Dwayne paddle a canoe or a kayak now?
@@thatdude4000 Duane kayaks 80% of the time I would say.
Your videos are so helpful and informative! I love how clear your directions are and that you include cfs when you go out.
Thank you, see you on the river 👍
I can't thank you enough for all this...absolutely best for kayaking I've seen
thanks Joe!
Amazing video!! Thank you ❤
thanks for making these videos. much love
Appreciate it Qwis
We are headed to Comfort tomorrow to put in there, and want to do a 2 night float and fish. Put in around 3-4:00 Friday, take out Sunday before noon. Which is a better distance with the current flow rate: Take out at Waring (10 miles) or Take out at Sisterdale (17 miles)? Waring feels kinda short, but Sisterdale feels kinda long. We will be paddling at a fishing pace, not racing. Thanks!
For a 3 day trip 17 miles is a piece of cake even when fishing all day. FYI water levels are incredibly low right now and you will be doing some walking.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Thanks. It's more like a two day trip, half days on Friday and Sunday. We are expecting to have to drag some. Maybe the 10 miles would be easier?
@@bspcyclist Yeah I would go for the 10 mile trip then. Easy half day, 5 or so miles second day, easy morning paddle on the third.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Appreciate you!!!
Great information thank you
Thank you Kenneth!
Thanks for the great info on the Guad!
Thanks Randy 👍
Love this Al!
Hey good to hear from you Mahon! Thank You
Great job, thanks!
Hey thanks for stopping by Geoff!
Thanks a ton for this video. I've recently gotten the kayak bug and plan on exploring all the hill country rivers. This will be a great tool.
The Hill Country Rivers are fantastic. Learning the water is levels is key to a safe and enjoyable trip that will keep you going back for more!
I cannot thank you enough for putting these together. Took the Kiel to Waring trip - fell in love.
I struggle with how to read the water levels. Can you recommend 1) a video thet shows how and 2) a community out there for paddlers in our area? I’m in San Antonio
@@MissChanandler_Bong Awesome, happy to hear people finding new places to enjoy! QUESTION 1: learning to use the USGS systems takes a little bit to understand fully. Also a starting logged base is needed in order to understand what the current flow will be like. This may be a video I should put together to help the community. QUESTION 2: Facebook has many groups, start with the "Kayak Trippin Texas" page. If you are fishing there are many more for kayak fishing as well.
Very helpful.....
Thank you for this.
Thanks Daniel
James Kiehl to Waring is my go-to when River levels are good. Floated this stretch at 100cfs last Sunday (6/13). Beautiful Cypress trees. Thanks for sharing, now My fam can extend that stretch.
I agree Adrian, the Kiehl/Waring area is beautiful. If the water is up these areas are very enjoyable.
G canoe and kayak is the best place to buy your kayak , i bought 12 from them when i lived in Texas, live in Pensylvania now. they take you down to the river to padle before you decide which one you want
Thank you so much for the positive feedback David!
Do you have any videos on the Medina River for put in and take outs?
Howdy Joel, I was going to film one this summer but the lack of rain made the river dry up. It's on my list though.
Fantastic video.
Hey thanks Albert!
Love this!!! Thank you!
Thanks Johnny!
Invaluable information my man 👍🏽🙏🏼
Hey Justin, thanks so much!
Amazing content!! Do you happen to know if the sisterdale location allows overnight parking? Was thinking of a 3 day trip. thanks in advance
It's public, can def park overnight.
It's public, you are good.
Any place to put in above schumacher crossing? I was wondering if you could put in at rivers inn or hunt's crossing for a longer run to Ingram dam.
Howdy Shawn, right above Schumacher's within 800 ft upstream are 2 dam/water falls. To my findings it's hard to find public access areas further up stream.
Did you Kayak the I-10 to River bend? Is there a dam we have to get around?
You jumped from Ingram to Comfort . Is there any kayaking to be done from Kerville to Comfort ?
Good stuff! (just subscribed) I'm more into longer-distance stuff along the lower Brazos. Usually do 60 mile jaunts (approx 20 miles/day) on a SOT kayak, camping nights on sand bars and remote banks. Thinking about doing something up in your area. Starting at the Schumacher's crossing, how far could I go? (I'd have someone drop me off and pickup downstream). Would love to do a week-long jaunt on my vacation time.
If you want to put in at Shumackers and float all the way to 474 camping along the way, first is there an issue finding camping spots that are not on private property and secondly is there any shuttle services that you know of?
in waring is the only place to park where it says no parking? is that why it is recommended to let them know you will park your car there?
Yes there are no parking signs all along the bridge, this is why I always ask to park at the general store.
such a cool video. I'm in NB and the local drop ins are always busy. gonna go out and try a couple you showed
Awesome, go out and explore 👍
Wow, great info. I will definitely paddle one or more of those routes. You got a new subscribers.
Thanks Tom, hope you have fun on the water 👍
You thought about doing one of these for the San Marcos?
Sure have Eric, I'll try to put one together in the coming weeks.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Awesome, videos have been great!
@@touchpuppy Thanks Eric, means a lot!
Awesome video and information! I live in the area (Spring Branch) and have always wondered about putting in further West. Do you have a video about the put in/take outs starting where you left off here moving East? furthest up river we have put in is the State park. Thanks again!
Hey thanks, I do not have a video right now, but plan on making one this summer once we get some rain.
Thanks ! Just subbed, great info for this fledging kayaker/ youtuber

Hey, thanks for watching!
When you are speaking of parking, what is the allowed time frame for most places? I have a four day three night trip planned.
Hey Parker, Most places are fine for days trips. Try contacting the county or a local business if possible to leave your car. A vehicle sitting on the side of the road for many days may get towed in some places.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks thank you. Much appreciated.
