    Agree on all points. I got the early release last year and it's definitely more approachable than the marketing would suggest. The 3D nose is pretty buttery too which is nice for when you're just goofing around.

    I was considering one of these and wanted to see what you said because I have always appreciated the bluntness of your reviews! “Every board is awesome” is not really helpful to someone who does not have the time or access to try more than one board a season. haha
    I noticed you rode it in a 156. For this board that’s pretty small for 200lbs…Nidecker’s chart would have you on the 162. Have you had a chance to test the longer board and if so any notable difference in stiffness and approachability? I guess I’m saying, you seemed to like it but felt it wasn’t very stiff compared to Nidecker’s claims. I wonder how much that stiffness (and how much you liked it) would change if you rode it in the “right” size (at least according to their chart). Thanks!

      Their charts are so fucking wrong all the time. We can put our 160lb tester on it and he'll have the same problem.

    Hey Avran! I know this video is older but I currently have a capita indoor survival for my park/freestyle board and I’m looking to add a more powder friendly/free ride board to take through some trees and some side hits here and there. Would this board be a good choice? I’m also looking at the K2 Antidote, thanks!

  • @johnhailstone9927
    @johnhailstone9927 Год назад +1

    looking forward to this one - its either going to be this board or the K2 passport for me. Looks like in terms of sizing the Thruster has a longer effective edge whereas the Passport has a longer nose - does this mean it floats better or the thruster better for carving. The Thruster also has 3d tech raising the contact points off the ground for less catch - does this mean less grip in the ice / hard pack or is the Passport more catchy. Hopefully, Avran can find the answers!! Please!!

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  Год назад +3

      Passports better in pow, Thruster is better for carving. The 3D is minimal in the nose on the Thruster so you get a quicker engagement and turning from it.

      @@AngrySnowboarder what about bombing through skied out pistes and not getting knocked about. I mainly ski in Austria and they don't groom the pistes so by the afternoon me keeping up with my fast skiing buddies can be very dicey. My current terrain wrecker just bucks me around - great for slashy turns but not so good for chopped out terrain. It ok in pow so as long as the thruster or passport is comparable then ill be happy with either. which ever manages resort conditions that are icey/choppy/crudy then thats the one I'll go for. Your help is much appreciated.

    Hi Avran, hope I'm not too late here. 5'11/177 lbs/10.5 boot. Currently riding a 159 '23 Arbor Clovis which rides great for steeper terrain, tree runs, and a bit of pow. Looking for a second board for the quiver that is something I can really rail a carve on and lay out as well as something with a little bit of play in it for when I'm riding more mellow slopes with my wife. Would this have too much overlap with the Clovis or be a good 2nd option? If not, any other reccs? Have also looked at the Yes Hybrid and Ride Shadowban, but Thruster is on sale.

    How does this one compare to the Concept? Seems like the rear contact point is larger, and it looks a little wider. Probably not as stiff though. I rode the crap out of my Concept but ultimately I sold it because in favor of smoother, damper boards.

    I'm shopping for a more carving-focused, stiffer all mountain board to use, currently caught between a bataleon carver, thruster, and the regular ravine (though the select isn't out of the question). coming from a lobster eiki pro, which one would be the best option here?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
