Been watching on and off for a couple of years and recently subscribed, you clearly know you shit and I definitely rate and value your reviews…. Keep it up, from the UK
Thanks! Will check out the Peace Seeker. Wouldn't have been on my radar without your work.
Before I even start to watch I liked the video 🤟 Thank You for this awesome top list! You are the best 😎🤟
Great review
Just picked up a Bataleon Carver from your many recommendations. Hoping my dependence on Magnatraction doesn’t eff with my experience 😂. Looking for that groomer destroyer and the Carver looks the part. Almost got the Pentaquark, but that was a decent chunk more expensive than I could cave for.
Korua has been getting a lot of love lately. Going to have to take a look at them
@@chrissladden4593 do not hesitate, great board.
@@chrissladden4593 haha yeah, well, that's a completely different board I think, every Korua feels like best board, when Nicholas ride it :)
Looks dope, but I just need a swallowtail in my powder boards, that's a game changer.
Dupraz 5'5" ++ is my go to carving resort and glades also 6' + for open out of back country
A few years back bought a K2 Alchemist 160 on your recommend. Love it with my new Ion boots and Cartel Xs. I think about something faster and maybe carve a little harder - is the Amplid UNW8 the next deck for the quiver? And 159 or 163? 188lbs of hangin meat and 5'10"
I like turning. Turning is good.
how does the gremilin compare to those boards?
I rode it last season on a 152 one and it held edge amazingly well.
just not so great on pow (probably because undersized it a bit)
Ur my favorite board reviewer.
Got a good deal on a Peace Seeker. It's a bit scary getting a board this short (151) when I'm used to ride 160-162 for carving...
good job as always!
Hey Avran 220lbs 11.5 boot not sure about 51 or 55 what would the difference be between? Current daily is 59W Aviator old daily was the 55Gremlin on you suggestion loved that one LOTS.
Thanks for the video
I'm between the normal Korua Pencil 159 and the Ride Peace Seeker, how would you compare these two for carving on grommers and eventually power?
Thanks a lot
Peace Seeker has more power out of it, it's stiffer, has a more aggressive sidecut coupled with its camber profile for laying it over.
Thanks to you I picked up the Ride Peace Seeker! (In a 151cm). I’ve been contemplating if I bought the right size in this board though. I usually ride a twin tip free ride 162cm. I’m 5’10” 190lbs with a size 8.5 (US) boot. I’m from the northeast and Loon, Jay Peak, Killington, and Mount Snow are my go to mountains. I mainly ride the glades weather permitting, but am usually confined to the corduroy and ice being that it’s the north east. Couldn’t help but wonder if maybe the 147 would be a better option? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Love the channel btw.
Get some twin tip skis
You're good.
So many numbers
Great review. I came across bunch of videos and didn't really find a good comparison of classic carving boards. A good candidates could be: Gray Desperado Ti Type R, Nobile N8, F2 Eliminator, Kessler X-Carve, perhaps something from Donek. Could be a good video for top 5 in 2023/2024.
No
How would you rate the new Jones Aviator 2.0 on the carving list? Your review of that board last year had me salivating.
If you look at the Jones line of decks it's UME, Storm Wolf, Hovercraft, and then the Aviator 2.0.
Hi!!
Thank you the video. I would like testin new carving board this season. I have Jones UME 158, I 'm 171 lbs and 164 cm. What do you think Ride Peace Seeker vs Pentaquark or Niedecker Blade? The UME very lovely carving for me but little long, and don' have good maneuverability at low speed. I see the Ride, and very good, if shorter is enough, but don't find anywhere the edges data (effective edge etc...) I 'm little sceptical this very short lenght... 🤔 The UME has great hold on icy condition, what do you think from Ride?
The Pentaquark has very long edges, I' m sure is very good for carving, but little expensive. 😬
The Niedecker Blade or Blade + not expensive but, don't know is better than the UME... 😬
Very difficult... 😅😅😅
I'm going to tell you the Peace Seeker, just keep your edges sharp.
Honorable mentions got as much air time as the top 5. Not complaining. More info = more better. Season can not come fast enough.
I don’t need no damn Korua bro. I lay trenches like ww1 with my morrow son. But that peace seeker looks tastier than a cookies and man cream brotein shake 😎
Donek ad before the video. Checks out.
War of attrition!
How is the peace seeker in comparison to the commissioner? Does the volume shifted shape allow it to pick up speed in the same way the commissioner does?
Commissioner is more of an all out missile. The Peace Seeker is more your trench digger lay it over and see what happens board. You want speed, Commissioner all day.
What size Peace Seeker did you ride? Also, do you personally ride duck when you are on these boards or do you go +/+ for a carving sessions? Thx!
51 and always use the same stance on everything.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thx. Looking forward to the full review. (unless I missed it)
Hasn't dropped yet.
At 150lbs I’m right in the sweet spot for the 142, but that seems absurdly small for someone who rides a 156 berzerker and 148 warpig. Should I bump up to the 147 or stay true to the manufacturers specs?
I'm 200lbs riding a 151 and I wouldn't want to go any bigger. Get the 42.
Hey there...any opinions on the Arbor Single? Can this thing be used as an army of one quiver? Asking for a friend...Can't find a whole lot on it that is....well let's say reputable.
I haven't been on it so can't really comment.
Which would you say would preform better in powder out of peace seeker and alchemist?
Alchemist.
What made you pick the pencil over the CR? Do you recall if you had positive stance on the peace seeker? I'm looking for a carving focused board I can occasionally take off the groomer. Something that can turn quick but also euro carve like Benedict. I'm debating between the CR, Pencil and Peace seeker. Thoughts?
The way it rides. I have the same stance on all boards we review.
I love the video! But on a side note, what do you think of the Donek soft-boot boards? Still overpriced duds?
Donek as a brand is a turd
Man your video is insane! I've got one quesiton though. I check the bataleon carver 2023-2024, but it seems like it is only available as 158. Is that correct??
If that's what they say is available then that's it.
Hey Avran
I've been looking at the korua dart and the peace seeker as a second board to add to my collection. Obviously both great carvers but which one do you think would be more manageable in the trees as a pow board? Peace seeker sounds pretty aggressive
Thanks
Harry
There's so many better boards than these two for riding trees.
@@AngrySnowboarder what would you recommend? I see a swallow tail on a board and label it as a pow board
@@hazza788 Here's what I'd look at Endeavor Archetype, K2 Special Effects, Rome Ravine.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks!
What bindings could be good pair with the ride peace sealer?🎉
Ride A10, Now O Drive, Bent Metal Solution
@@AngrySnowboarder thx!!
Donek Flux - super carver and great in powder too
Nah it's a Donek which means it's an over priced turd.
I love my optimistic 157, would the ride offer much of an upgrade?
It's a completely different ride to it.
Avran, what bindings from Rome and Union would pair with the Ultra Mind Expander? I'm looking at that instead of the Stratos for ripping the ice coast 🤘🏼🤙🏼
First of all, I don't own a Jones, but I love their graphics. For bindings, I am most familiar with Union. And I think you should look at the Union Force and above. For the Rome bindings, probably the Katana and above. Also, I have some Karakoram Continuum bindings. They may be too flexible for your UME, and some people have not had good luck with the quality, but I like them and they compare favorably to my Union Strata bindings.
Wow your name is Avran too, strange. Rome you go with the Katana if you want it a little more playful otherwise the DOD is solid for more power laterally, if you want the stiff charger you go with the Cleaver. To throw a wildcard in on you check out the Bataleon Astro full or asym might be something there for you. With Union don't waste your time on the Forces that binding is meh. Strata for more play or you go to the Ultra for a little more response in the straps but play underfoot, otherwise slap an Atlas for hard charging or if you want lightweight you go with the Falcor.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks man!
@@AngrySnowboarder out of curiosity, how would the Arbor Annex compare to the UME? Stiffness and such?
@@endo-poptart Haven't ridden it.
I love carving it up hard in the morning. Any of these boards also good in bumps and crud and more crowded slopes later in the day?
Moguls are for skiers.
@@AngrySnowboarderNo moguls for me, but after lunch things can get rough on the groomers. My Madd BX 168CB is kind of a beating under those conditions.
Second time I see the Nidecker thruster in the back of your videos. You’ve said previously (when I asked about it in a comment of a previous video) that you’ll release the review in September….give us some feedback? Just briefly, is is legit? Is it awesome? Something?
It's a snowboard.
@@AngrySnowboarder fair enough
Those Now Drive bindings have been on display for weeks now…
Assume they’re up there cause you quite like em?
Or I just batch filmed.
Is there a lot of difference between the peace seeker and the superpig?
Yes.
Hello angry,
What board would be suitable for learning to carve as an intermediate rider that almost (but not really) has the basics down and want to progres towards the really deep carves? Im 75kg bootsize 45.
Besides carving I also lean towards butter tricks and some basic freestyle.
Is transition finder a good pick? Or is that too Advanced for my current state you reckon?
I'd go with a Nidecker Thruster honestly.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks that board does indeed look suitable. only my big 45eu bootsize (11us) seems a problem.. the 156 (which seems to match my weight) only has a width of 254. Or am I overseeing something here?
I feel as if the combination of my weight and footlenght forces me towards volume shifted carving boards.
Do you mount your board at the middle or at the inserts?
@@AngrySnowboarder well yes obviously, but nidecker themself clasify the board as Large, not as Wide. And most brands advise a minimum of 261 waist width for my bootsize; with an average side cut in mind giving you the maximum overhang at the inserts for riding without booting out.
What would you think be the maximum overhang in mm's for carving without dying? Then I can just calculate it and make the right choise.
OK now here's your homework you're going to go to the Nidecker website, you're going to click on the size details tab on the Thruster, you're going to go look at the width at inserts section and look at the number. Gee what does that say?
Ha! Shout out Donek! Love my Knapton twin...in soft boots...always soft boots. Great vid, AL.
Cool story
I have : Donek Twin 156cm (29.5cm in the middle) , SG soul xt 159cm (27.5cm) ,Super pig 151cm 2023(26.5cm) and peace seeker 147cm 2023 😁 My Boots is size 42(27cm) :)
Donek knapton is next level. Playfully freestyle and lays gnarly trenches. 150 30.5waist, 10m sidecut flex level 8. Love it. Also have a korua dart which is fun and a stranda bowlrider which craves bigger mountains.
Gimmie your best Burton carving board this year please.....just got the step ons....many thanks in advance!!!!
Nidecker Blade has my eye. 👽👀
Definitely check out The Gun, The Donuts, and the Ultralight from Nidecker as well. All amazing carving boards. I own the first two and would really love to ride the Ultralight one day. I own the 161cm Gun from I believe 2018 and it's one of my favorite boards for carving and pow.
@@thedude5510 I rode a 2018 Concept for more than 60 days. Tough on the joints but it really felt natural to ride. Haven't tried any of their others. Tracer looking like a snacc as well 👽👍
@@SheldonKreger Tracer definitely looks sicks as well! I love The Gun because I didn't think it would be as versatile as it is. It does everything pow, trees, groomers, and even moguls. That was a huge surprise for me with that board. I am not a fan of the new 174 only option or the waist width. I honestly would love to have the 174 but in the older models with the actual waist width difference going higher in size. I believe this new 174 has the same waist width as my 161. Which is not the worst thing in the world. I have the smallest amount of boot out on really deep carves, but with it being more narrow it handles crud and bumpy uneven terrain a lot better. The trade off is worth it. I have a lot of boards and my gun is always at the top of the list when I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to take for that day.
Dude you should try out the OES FR and OES TT boards. It was true mindblowing experience after owning a Bataleon Carver and Jones Stratos. TT is a true twin that carves SO MUCH better than bataleon carver, and you still can flat-freestyle it. And FR is a fucking train on a rails. And their stiffness - if you think 10 is too much - you should NEVER buy an H version of OES board. They are crazy. IDK if you can buy it in your supermarket, i was tested it on a resort, and immediately ordered one from that guy
Intermediate Midwest rider, what's a good board to progress on ? No park btw.
Probably not a straight carving board.
I'm 5'11 and 216lbs. Looking for a directional board for groomed riding/hard ice that can handle fast speeds and remain stable with hard carving.
Well there's 8 in this list so start looking.
Bindings for peace seeker? Will Arbor Cypress drive it?
I’d probably go with something else like a ride a 9, now drive, or union atlas pro
Guys what shoud I get Salomon huck knife Grom 22 or the Salomon sleepwalker22 23
Definitely.
Any recommended true twin boards for carving? Thanks!
Amplid Pentaquark.
@@AngrySnowboarder isn’t that board directional with directional flex?
Try an OES TT series
My boss is gifting me a Peace Seeker and I couldn't be more excited.
That's a good boss.
what’s a good carving board for female? At 115lb I’m afraid those boards in this list is too stiff for my weight
You probably want to look at our cruisey carver list instead those are softer more forgiving boards.
my jones aviator 2.0 carves pretty good
I've been thinking about that board- how do you like it all around?
@@krazatos I like it a lot its my hard snow board. Great for going fast, huge layed out carves, hitting big jumps. It doesnt float very well in powder, not very forgiving, you gotta ride it precise. Its an old school camber board. Its not a 1 board for everything type but fits nicely at one end of a quiver of 3; pow board, everyday driver, this for charging hard snow.
How does this list compare to the last carving board video. I have eye on the nerd superposition
That's carvy cruisers this is more straight trench diggers.
Do you have any love for twins or for asymmetric side cuts? Also, love "Liberace Technologies" in the description.
There's literally lists for both of those.
Do yourself a favor and avoid asyms
@@Matthew-re9pb Are you the owner of Donek? He hates aysms. They may not be all that the hype says they are, but I don't find them to be detrimental to my riding. Also, I have two, a RCC3, and a custom ultra-wide (29.5 cm)
@@joshuawoodruff1052 no, but the rcc3 looked good. A mellower asym might be better.
I had the gnu finest...liked it at first. But was way to loose of a board, and the asym felt funky.
The Finest is a soft board to begin with and has a C2 camber profile. It's designed to be super playful and not as precise.
just picked up an excavator but will prob end up getting a peace seeker because i have a problem
That's a little too much overlap.
Now how many of these work with gigantor size 13/14 feet?
Almost all of them.
@@AngrySnowboarder sweet, also thanks for doing what you do.
Have You ever ridden Nobile boards? They are producing for eg Korua but also have they do their own brand also, very tech and not popular.
Didn't ride the Nobile specific branded stuff but they used to have another brand they did that had some crazy tech and I'm brain farting the name, but rode those and they were sick.
i really thought the Capita SOD will be on the list
I am looking for a resort carver which can handle some speed and come along for some side hits. 90% groomers and some pow.
I am torn beteen the Peace Seeker, Korua Cafe Racer or Nidecker Mosquito.
I'm riding in Laax for almost 30 years now. So not tobbad of a rider. I am on a Warpig right now but want something a bit more responsive.
Any advice of the Peace Seeker brings me to Nirvana or rather one of the other two?
If you're looking to straight carve Peace Seeker is the way to go full speed ahead.
Which Korua board balances the best between carving and pow?
Pencil is pretty solid, not the Pencil Plus, just the regular. You could do the Dart, maybe a Transition Finder.
@@AngrySnowboarder sweet, thanks mate.
@@AngrySnowboarder You rated the Korua Pencil Plus at #2 what about the Korua bullet train did you get a chance to ride it? If so, did you like the Pencil Plus better than the Bullet Train?
I didn’t think the lib tech retro ripper has magnetraction
@angry snowboarder how does the peace seeker perform all mountain?
Leaves a bit more to be desired if you're using it as an all mountain freestyle board, but for freeride you just sacrifice a bit of switch riding due to the setback and shaping.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks for the tip!
the pentaquark vs peace seeker - hard carves yes but which performs better at high speeds? thanks
Both.
❤️
i am waiting for that top 5 boards for rad dads
And you'll continue to keep waiting.
@@AngrySnowboarder 😢
Where is the supermatic review? Common I wanna hear you hate it but I know you’ll love it. It seems too good to be true
Why would there be a review of it in a Top 5, that makes no sense.
@@AngrySnowboarder I mean the review video everyone else is already spitting them out but I feel like they didn’t even get to ride the damn thing
@@LF-Productions Check out Malcolm Moore's channel. He's been riding on those for a while and did a long-term review months ago.
How about k2 excavator, compare with the peace seeker
That's more of a pow board.
Oof, what caused The Pentaquark to lose two positions?
There's 2 better boards that seems kind of obvious.
Hey angry did you get a chance to ride ANYTHING from cardiff?
Nope.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks nice quick reply , do you have any thoughts on the brand?
They're built in a good factory, have money behind it, and generally should be a solid product.
Jones flagship 2023
Nope.
Ride Peace Seeker vs K2 excavator, thanks
What are two different boards.
@@AngrySnowboarder Will the Ride Peace Seeker be a better carver on groomers than the K2 Excavator, I m 200 lbs with size 9 us boots is the 151 Peace seeker a good choise, thanks.
@@Grudzien34 100%. Excavator is competent but the Peace Seeker is next level. 151 for sure.
Burton Custom X. If you're a strong rider... or a masochist
Meh.
How 'bout Top 5 Carving Twins? Whatcha got :)
How about Top 5 Top 5's Top 5 requests?
@@AngrySnowboarder That would actually be pretty funny, a good summer video
@@AngrySnowboarder Doooo it !
New to the channel guys but how come I never see any Never Summer reviews? Does anybody have the rundown on them. I rode a protosynthesis last year and loved it!
Because they’re shit!
i too love rental snowboard topsheets on my $500+ snowboard
I got the new proto triple camber last year. It's fun but not amazing
@@AngrySnowboarder Yes, Ive been hearing that from the channel but what are the main reasons why?
@@pauld984 Why do I constantly have to keep answering this for people that won't do their own research?
have you actually ridden any 3d based board? they do not carve well.
I’ve ridden a lot of boards, probably more than you.
@@AngrySnowboarder sure, we can measure our dicks if you want... but your taste in boards with small diameter side cuts is apparent. I even bought a board because your review put it over the top. It was the worst board I have ever owned. I have tried several batelons, and they were fun soft snow boards that could not hold a decent edge. You get minimal tip and tail edge contact with the 3d base. to carve, or even get a good edge contact, you need huge board angulation. fun park board though. If you need help reviewing boards, let me know :)
Ride PeaceSeeker in 155. Radius 5.0 . - . 7.9 . With all my respect. Are you serious, it is a best board for carving?
Yeah I am because it fucking turns so well. Clearly you haven't ridden it.
Yes. You can crank your turns so fuckin hard on it. I got a 147.
What's all the hate about Donek? xD
Do you like snowboarding on a door? Do you like practicing ballerina moves on ur snowboard? Do you have 800$
@@Bobballlives And it wouldn't be "angry" without throwing some shade in each vid.
I Don't understand the donek hate. Hate on hardboots fine whatever I agree. But I grabbed a donek nomad on Cyber Monday a few years ago for under 200 bucks. It was a demo board with a fresh base grind with no damage anywhere. From your list I've ridden the mind expander and a few korua boards.. They're just not in the same league as the donek at all. Nothing has ever given me that level of edge control. Back up the hate with some facts because you sound more like the whiney snowboarder then the angry snowboarder. I'd as soon take advice from a buckhouse goggle review if you aren't going actually tell me why donek is such a bad brand.
You bought a board that they shoved 2 gallons of epoxy in it. Built in a dirty factory. Using materials that are old. Their geometries are whack and designed for a specific niche and that's it and they get offended when any company that mass produces builds a board that rides better. They extol the belief that you have to have a board as wide as your front door or you will boot out with a size 8 boot. They can't take a joke. They're over priced turds. You can take advice from anyone you want that's your choice. No one is forcing you to be here.
So why do I have to get that info from the comments but not the video? I don’t agree which is irrelevant, but every time you bring up Doneks you make it out like they only do hardboot setups. I’ve never heard these other complaints you just listed in a video. Maybe that’s on me but I know I’ve heard the hardboot complaint from you umpteen times. And weird dimensions from a company that lets you pick literally everything? Really?
A couple of things that irk me about the brand:
The owner has to resort to straw man fallacies to push his methodology. Nobody in the industry is saying that 'wide boards suck'. They're simply pointing out that there's a pretty big riding tradeoff and that many riders prefer a narrower setup that their measurements would recommend. ruclips.net/video/ZtsIM88T6A0/видео.html
Also their brand ambassador Ryan Knapton puts out some shockingly stupid advice to beginners about board sizing and technique. There was one video he put out last year where he uses action figures to demonstrate the difference between sliding and carved turns and the info he put out there isn't even in the ballpark of being correct or at all helpful As far as I'm concerned every time a beginner buys a 30.5cm wide Donek a baby kitten dies.
Why do I have to dedicate half a video for an off handed injoke just so you can feel validated and informed? The only reason you're commenting is because you bought one and it bothers you that I think the company makes a shit product. In your view all I do is make hardboot references, when in fact I've talked about their brands poster child, his bad advice, shit beliefs, their inability to actually make a product worth a damn, their lack of technological advancement, the owner huffing too much epoxy fumes, and more. You just choose to fixate on one thing because it suits your narrative.
I can pick literally anything from them? Strange it's limited to their molds, their construction methods, and their materials. They use Durasurf which is a horribly inferior base material compared to Isosport. Durasurf and Crown Plastics have so many imperfections on anything and even their black bases aren't as good. They aren't making new cassettes per individual so you're stuck using what they have. Argue with me all you want but a new cassette isn't cheap. Their stupid "build a custom" thing gives some whack ass size options based off the criteria I gave them. At the end of the day you drank their brand koolaid and it shows.
See I like a good reasoned argument. I’m absolutely no Donek fanboy and I don’t go out of my way to learn all of a brands politics. My nomad was picked up for a steal, has very reasonable dimensions (28 cm waist) and IMO (to reiterate, MY OPINION) rides better than any Jones or Korua shapes I’ve demoed. I just think angry can do a better job of telling me why he doesn’t like something considering his channel is there to review snowboards. Even if I don’t agree with him, he puts in the hours and tests more snowboards than me. He’s always expecting more out of new snowboards so there shouldn’t be an issue with me wanting more out of his review
Angry, which one of these boards would be most suited for aggressive bombing/carving? (Coming of the Burton T7)
Take your pick.
