Hey James! I demoed the Thruster at Meadows back a month ago (demo day). I enjoyed it and for whatever reason it inspired a lot of confidence (I'm an advanced intermediate). I wanted to try the Escape and Escape Plus, but it didn't happen. Curious your pick of the three as a mostly groomer board to pair with my Frontier. I'm looking for good edging and carving, unlikely to be used on powder days. I love the Frontier for that. Nidecker was never on my radar until my wife got an Odyssey recently, which impressed us both with the tech and quality.

Yeah Nidecker makes some great boards and has been doing so longer than most brands. I would for sure go Thruster and just make sure you get the right size for your specs. I like the Escape and Escape Plus but they are pretty much full on camber compared to the thruster with lifted sides in the nose. It makes it a little more forgiving. I also like the softer flex in the nose/tail but still a pretty stiff flex between the feet. There is some overlap with the Frontier and Thruster though so not sure if that is the best 2 board quiver unless you just want 2 different all mountain boards. Currently on the 151 superpig. What significant differences might one experience with a 153 thruster? Specifically with turn initiation, carving, choppy terrain, and speed/stability bombing downhill?

Super different boards. Your Superpig is massively wider and a much different ride. It's more stable but much harder to turn and ride choppy/uneven snow. It will be faster than the thruster but having both would be a cool 2 board quiver. If the 151 Superpig works for you the 156 Thruster might be better but you didn't state your specs so can't say for sure. @@thegoodridesnow Just the feedback I was hoping you would confirm - that there's not a huge overlap between the two and that they are different enough to make it a 2 board quiver. My boot size is 8.5, I'm 5 feet 11 inches tall and weigh 170 pounds. From the goodride full review write up, the 153 seems to be right in the middle based solely on boot size and that's how I came up with 153. What might I gain or lose going with the 156?

I'd go 156. The 153 is too small.

Hey man! I've found a great deal on an almost brand new 156 Thruster and I'm considering it as my first board coming from rental boards. I've never owned my own board and it was a few seasons since I rode now, taking a break and trying out skiing instead but realized I want to go back to a board.
I am a beginner/touching on intermediate rider, 176cm/85kg. I want a board to grow into that can do everything, will mostly be in the resort this season but will gradually get into the powder and park as I get better. Considering I can get it with bindings for around 300 USD, should I go for it?

Really unsure based on the info given. Don't even know your boot size so would never say yay or nay on buying a size without it. It's also going to be a little catchy on the tail for a beginner who skids their turns. Hit me up here so we can do this properly. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

I think you could handle both but it comes down to preference, ability level etc. What make/model/size/year board do you have now and how does it ride for you?
