Hey, that first hog is one of ours! That’s the pedigree chart that came out first and the brochure is the individual feed records and such. Really cool Nikki kept all that and sent it on to you! So happy you guys have her-look forward to seeing how she folds in to the projects. Hissy has her mama’s chubby cheeks 🥰
Hissy was a fantastic part of our family, @cleoskingdom4943. You produced such a beautiful animal. She gave me fits in the beginning, with not wanting to eat, but she came around. She definitely enjoys eating now!
Hearing Xanthe's story, I couldn't help but imagine them as a pokemon trainer sending their eggs to you to grow. AHH! When Emily pokes them to check if they're alive, that gives me an idea. You're the Poke-Poke-Poke Nursery.
Yay! I'm so glad to see Hissy again! I really do miss her, but I can't think of anyone (outside of her breeder) who would take better care of her. Thank you, Ed and Emily, for all that you do. I really appreciate you taking care of Queen Hissy and I look forward to seeing her produce some babies!
Cinnabar (a Mercury ore) would be another good one (cinnabar is a red rock, which would kind of match mercury morph hatchlings coming from their orange-y parents)
For the female het Mercury I was thinking Marie Curie because not only does the name sound like Mercury, but she was a famous chemist and Physicist who won Nobel Prizes in both those fields
@@Charlotte.M.S 😂 Okay, I would pay $20 for Ed to try to pronounce her actual last name, but you know how badly they’d mangle it, right? Trust me, stay with Curie… (and the male could be Pierre).
What you sow is what you reap. You both are some of the sweetest, kindest, and most generous of people I've heard of. Thank you for accepting these snakes, not only to breed cool morphs, but expanding the gene pool of your collection. Thank you also for sharing these with us all. Nikki, Xanthie, Adrian what you did is so kind and so generous. Bless all 3 of you.
Depending on the source, in Roman mythology, Mercury's parents are either Maia and Jupiter, or Dies and Caelus. Maybe the mercury makers could be named after them!
I had a fellow hognose snake owning friend in france a while back who was sad because some laws changed which classed hognoses as venamous and therefore needing a license (or something like that, if memory serves at all) so once hers passed away, she would be unable to get anymore. Was reminded of that from Xanthe's story... I wonder if more countries than France did this :( im lucky to live in the uk where we still can freely own hoggies. what a lovely idea to own them through Snake Discovery as well as sharing the dnakes with rhe world. It's a sweet gesture!
In Australia so a fair bit removed from Europe, but we have laws that mean we can't own non-native reptiles. One of my dream snakes is a hoggie, but they're illegal TvT
we're really unlucky in Brazil, you can't keep non-native exotic animals because of people releasing their unwanted pets in the wild and making an invasive animal problem, but we also can't keep native exotic animals because out of concern that it might encourage animal trafficking.
I wanted to know as well, but I think in The Netherlands we can have them. I'm not 100% sure, bc it is a very long list to go through what we can have and how... Never thought that hognoses were "dangerous" to keep in the eyes of some laws.
It is so lovely that people are sending projects. I can't keep any more pets as I have a disability, one bird is more than enough, so I also watch for reasons of vicarious animal keeping. I will be very much looking forward to seeing how these pairings go in the next few years.
I'm loving the co-breeding project with Xanthe. What a creative way to both help out the people who inspire you, yet also have your own dreams realized. I looked it up and I need a license to own a hognose in my state. (Though I don't think that law is regulated very well as I know several people who have them) I thought an artic sunburst was my favorite morph of hognose, but now mercury?! And coral?? And Frosted?? Gah! Maybe it's a good thing I need a license, I would be so broke. 😂
For the mercury makers names you could have Venus and mars following the planet theme, or you could go with an alchemy theme and go with plumb (shortened latin name for lead) and kin (japanese for gold) since mercury was used in alchemy
Xanthe, I just love your idea of being part of the breeding project of SD. Such a lovely move. You are a beautiful person. And I hope we will see in the future your babies. (Bc in my eyes they are yours as well) And WOW Nikki, that name is amazing. I thought my cat had a long name, but nope.... I love it. She is sweet, and I hope she stays sweet hahaha not hissy Ps: Rosie is still my favourite. I love that she (normally) would chomp at Emily
I feel Xanthe on an emotional level. I LOVE hognoses but Australian wildlife laws are very strict. I do agree with our laws to keep our environment and native wildlife as safe as we can, but sometimes I do wish I could have a beautiful hognose or ball python!
Hey guys! Random comment, just though you guys should know. Last month, i had a really bad panic attack. Saw a random video on youtube shorts that was supper triggering and awful. Im talking hours without proper breathing, screaming, the whole nines. The thing that calmed me? The baby snakes hatching playlist. Worked like a charm. I know you guys sometimes think we are tired of baby snakes hatching videos, but please, never stop making them.
It's so lovely seeing positivity come back to you, as you two are such positive joyous people I'm glad that people reflect that back to you. Looking forward to seeing your new breeding projects in time!
Cleo's Kindom Colubrids is an AMAZING hognose breeder!! I have 3 snakes from her and she is super nice and answers all my weird questions. Highly HIGHLY recommend!!!!!!
For the parents that will produce Mercury morphs, if you want to go with elements, Lead and Thallium should be the names; these two elements have radioactive isotopes that decay into mercury (i.e. 'make' mercury).
As someone who only wants snakes from you guys and want both Lavender and Coral morph hognose im SUPER excited to see yall heading towards those morph breedings.
Name suggestion…. Quicksilver and Cinnabar. We live near the former Almaden Valley Quicksilver mines and actually part of the Silicon Valley area of CA. The ore mined contained Quicksilver (aka mercury back then) and Cinnabar (mercury sulfide). :D
I love learning about different hognose morphs, especially the ones you guys haven't bred much of (yet). would you guys ever consider doing a video about all the different morphs and combinations, so people know what you're going for with all these new projects?
Love the long name for Hissy! I also gave my hognose a long name because I couldn’t pick between all of them, so his full name is Sir Hamlet Heathcliff Hiss, or Hamlet for short. 🐍
As names for the het Mercuries, I think Hermes for the male (since Mercury is the roman version of Hermes) and Quicksilver for the female (an older name for the metal mercury)!
Hi Ed and Emily I've been watching your vids for so many years and me and my brother love you guys so much and my family loves them too! you are me and my families favourite youtubers love you guys so much!
I love this so much! We just started with hoggies in August and we started with a pair that could make corals. I love mercury morphs so that is a goal I. The future and my husband loves storms so that will also be a future adventure. First comes the kids desire to make toffee glows and snows. We just got one a toffee for christmas and the other ended up with a snow. All of this started because of you guys. You inspired my girls to want snakes and to breed them. 😍
Could you maybe make a video explaining all the different hognose morphs, which one you have and how you choose which snakes to pair? Hope this makes sense, english isn't my first language. Love SD, you guys have helped me outgrow my fear of snakes through your educational videos!
Oh. I like Hissy and all the new babies ❤❤❤❤. What a fun way for others to have a stake in the Snake Discovery breeding. I bet Zanthy? Can’t wait to see what babies are created. Thank you for doing this. I can’t wait to see either!!! ❤. How about Mercury and Saturn 😂
🐍Merry & Curry🐍!!!!! For the het mercury pair, I thought the female could be Mer/Merry or Mare. But the male should definitely be named Curry 🤭. So, together, they can be our Mercury pair😆. I'm sorry, I just NEEDED to get this out of my mind 😂😂😂 I couldn't stop thinking about it 😆
I feel like the obvious names for the mercury makers are Maia and Jupiter (the parents of Mercury in Roman mythology), or you could go with the less commonly recognized parents' names Dies (pronounced dye-eez) and Caelus (pronounced see-lus)
Kinda inspo... I receny was thinking of how pretty it would be to mix sable and lavender, looked it up to see if it's been done, and while yes it has it seems like only one person has! You guys totally should pair Rosy and a nice lavender (sorry I don't know the males you have of the morph lol) and see it! It's pretty dang pretty from the pictures it seems!
Suggestion for a Mercury: Mad Hatter. In the 18th and 19th centuries, mercury nitrate was used to make felt for hats which led to unfortunate health problems. Not trying to jinx the cute snake, just thought if might be an interesting nod to mercury in a name.
Oh these snakes are utterly DELIGHTFUL oh my gosh! Their patterns are absolutely gorgeous! My suggestion for the Mercury-line pair would be: Helium for the male (named after Helios, the Greek god of the Sun, with the Sun represented as Gold in alchemy) and Selenium for the female! (Selene meaning Moon, also named after the Greek goddess of the Moon, represented as Silver in alchemy)
🤸♀ Names!!!! Oki Mercury theme we have: QuickSilver for the female (synonym of mercury element) and Hydrargyrum for the male (origin of Hg) or you could go with Hermes
for the mercuries: Hermes (m) or Hermès (f) (greek version of the roman name of mercury), Quicksilver (old name for mercury), or Stark (for how stark white they look)
You might joke about long names/titles. They do exist. There was a Spanish Duchess that had 23 names and around 50 artistocrat titles...amont other things.
Since they make Mercury like Ed said they could both be elements. Both Zinc and Cadmium are in the same family as Mercury. You could also give them planet names like Venus, Earth, Mars. You could also name them after things that have Mercury in them. Like Thermometer, Thermostat, battery.
In Roman mythology, the parents of Mercury are Maia and Jupiter. In Greek Mythology the parents of Hermes (Greek equivalent to Mercury) are Maia and Zeus.
Away from the elemental aspect of Mercury, the roman god Mercury's greek counterpart was Hermes. Mercury and Hermes also often depicted with a Caduceus, a staff with two snakes. Mercury is associated as married to the nymph Larunda, and while Hermes tended to get around, its said his wife was the goddess Peitho
I have a couple suggestions for the mercury maker snakes' names, Roman, because the Romans named the planet mercury or Hermes because he's the Greek god that came before the roman god mercury and these two are before the mercury hognoses. Also I'd like to thank you both for all the snake breeding videos you make as they sparked my interest in genetics and are the reason I'm now pursuing a degree for it at university. You helped me discover my true passion in life. ❤🐍
I don’t know where in Europe Xanthi leaves but in France Hognose are considered as venomous so you need a long and expensive training to get a permit. Snake need to be microshipped and registered on a national register. You must declare if is it pet only or for breeding. In this case you will need to declare yourself as a seller and be registered as such. The only ”easy” snake to possess is the ball python. Even for a boa you need a special permit. It’s a pain the neck, as the training centers are few and most of the time far from where you leave. That’s why most of the escapees snakes found from time to time are very rarely claimed by their owners and come from ”illegal” sources and are registered nowhere.
That's interesting. In Alberta, Canada, you can't own Hognoses because they're technically native. You used to be able to own Eastern Hognoses but I don't think you can even do that anymore. I'd love a Western Hognose but unless I move, I can't own one.
I really wanna know how you guys are so patient to raise babies to breed? I know it's probably cheaper, but I would want adults I could breed immediately lol. Definitely not cut out for your job.
Hissy’s cheeks are SO DAMNED CUTE! I can’t wait to flip thru your RUclips account - are you more active on other social media?
@ Awesome! Yes definitely more active on Facebook and Instagram…I tend to forget I have a RUclips channel 🤣
I am In love with how you found this video what great karma!! Best comment :D
Hissy was a fantastic part of our family, @cleoskingdom4943. You produced such a beautiful animal. She gave me fits in the beginning, with not wanting to eat, but she came around. She definitely enjoys eating now!
LOVE YOUR VIDS BRO
Hearing Xanthe's story, I couldn't help but imagine them as a pokemon trainer sending their eggs to you to grow. AHH! When Emily pokes them to check if they're alive, that gives me an idea. You're the Poke-Poke-Poke Nursery.

Hissy Eliot is a GOOD snake name lmao
@@Armo5575 so good lol
of course she was a perfect angel on camera, and seemingly since.. doesn't it figure? The adorable little stinker lol
she’s so adorable!!!! I love her full name too ❤
Names for the Mercuries, HG Wells (Hg is mercury on the periodic table) and Quicksilver (old timey word for mercury)!
Or the Roman God's Jupiter and Maia were the parents of Mercury., but I like your idea as well.
Or Mad Hatter and Quicksilver!
@TallulahBangkok I was also going to suggest HG Wells for the same reason! 😊
Cinnabar (a Mercury ore) would be another good one (cinnabar is a red rock, which would kind of match mercury morph hatchlings coming from their orange-y parents)
I second those names
For the female het Mercury I was thinking Marie Curie because not only does the name sound like Mercury, but she was a famous chemist and Physicist who won Nobel Prizes in both those fields

I know why it's not as common anymore but I miss these unboxing videos and info so nostalgic
This is a throwback to the unboxing from the days of yore. Awesome!
YEEEES MORE SNAKES! So excited for Coral!
For the Mercury pair my brain immediately went to Freddie for the male and Queen for the female. A pair fated to produce Mercury babies.
Names for the hypo/caramels you could do cute coffee names like Latte and Macchiato ! I love Macchiato as a name!
For the mercury makers, you could do Freddie (Mercury) and Mary Austin (his long time female partner) 🥰 They're so cute!
Thank you Zanthy!!!!!!! Im excited for this project
6:39 I’m legit sitting here watching this while stuffing pizza in my face and I look up and read Emily’s shirt and felt like a hero 🦸🏼♀️

I got my hognose from Adrian’s Captive Creations! He is such a nice guy and so helpful.

Hi Ed and Emily I've been watching your vids for so many years and me and my brother love you guys so much and my family loves them too! you are me and my families favourite youtubers love you guys so much!

Thank you xanthy for letting us see these cute snakes
Storm clouds, corals, mercury, frosted, and caramel all being mentioned is getting me hype for the future baby noodle videos!
I love this so much! We just started with hoggies in August and we started with a pair that could make corals. I love mercury morphs so that is a goal I. Wooooo what a collection. As for names i like Ember and Icicle for the unnamed pair
I was just thinking I haven't seen an unboxing or rescue video in ages I love those videos
🐍Merry & Curry🐍!!!!!
For the het mercury pair, I thought the female could be Mer/Merry or Mare.
But the male should definitely be named Curry 🤭.
So, together, they can be our Mercury pair😆.
I'm sorry, I just NEEDED to get this out of my mind 😂😂😂
I couldn't stop thinking about it 😆
Coral hoggies are my favourite! I can't wait until you guys can produce them!
They're so cute
That is the LONGEST name I’ve ever heard of, with Hissy
I feel like the obvious names for the mercury makers are Maia and Jupiter (the parents of Mercury in Roman mythology), or you could go with the less commonly recognized parents' names Dies (pronounced dye-eez) and Caelus (pronounced see-lus)
Celsius and Fahrenheit er perfect ideas! Oh but another one suggested Merry and Curry, and they are also really good! :3
Those carmel ones!are beautiful!! Especially the male!! The mercury ones are very pretty to! Cant wait to see their babies!
Kinda inspo... I receny was thinking of how pretty it would be to mix sable and lavender, looked it up to see if it's been done, and while yes it has it seems like only one person has! Carilamita for the caramel hognose girlie❤😊😍
Thank you Xanthe!!!😭❤ from another girl who can’t have snakes!
Ashford and Simpson for the mercury makers. I have the same Noah Bound Studios hognose print!
🤸♀ Names!!!! Oki Mercury theme we have: QuickSilver for the female (synonym of mercury element) and Hydrargyrum for the male (origin of Hg) or you could go with Hermes
Time for Hognoses 0:31 They are so cute
Mercuries are one of my dream morphs along with stormclouds. I'll definitely be on those waitlists :)
for the mercuries: Hermes (m) or Hermès (f) (greek version of the roman name of mercury), Quicksilver (old name for mercury), or Stark (for how stark white they look)
Antimony and Pewter would be cool names for the Mercuries!
You might joke about long names/titles. They do exist. There was a Spanish Duchess that had 23 names and around 50 artistocrat titles...amont other things.
I would love to see you produce Moonstones as well. They are so beautiful and remind me of the Mercury male you showed on the phone.
I need to see more shenanigan videos come on now I love you guys...😊😊😊😊
Since Hatters used to go mad from mercury poisoning. Mercury pair names: Mad Hatter and Alice.
Since they make Mercury like Ed said they could both be elements. Both Zinc and Cadmium are in the same family as Mercury. You could also give them planet names like Venus, Earth, Mars. You could also name them after things that have Mercury in them. Like Thermometer, Thermostat, battery.

I have a couple suggestions for the mercury maker snakes' names, Roman, because the Romans named the planet mercury or Hermes because he's the Greek god that came before the roman god mercury and these two are before the mercury hognoses.
