Shout out to the person trying to call to tell them the Argentine Boas gave birth lol. I’m sure they’re happy they get to see that they were in fact correct in their assumptions.
@@Peo2010 Would be a fitting name, for someone trying to call them to hurry because their snake just gave birth
They're a child who knows no boundaries one of the former mods told me that kid was a moderator headache
@@LinkTardis That would make sense, nobody should call 10x because there's no answer. Weird behavior.
@@skaisnotdead i think they were just in a hurry to let emily and ed both know!i dont think they meant any harm by it
@@demo_l I don't think they meant any harm either, that doesn't mean it's not weird to do.
That was the most pregnant looking pregnant snake I’ve ever seen😂 usually they just look chunky she really had a baby bump😂 Maybe that’s because they are live layers but still that was really cool to see
I thought the same! I was wondering why she was SO huge, and why she was gravid for SO long! Then I realized that everything that usually happens outside the snake, in the egg, happened in her instead!
I was thinking if she was going to get strech marks
As to her using her babies as a pillow, my mom used me as a tv tray 🤣
😂😂😂
Yup that's right
Rescued from a house fire to now a proud papa, I'm so happy to see these new babies!!!
Also, I'm glad to see your staff more in videos. The intern at the beginning (I'm sorry I can't remember his name!) was wonderful when we visited, showing us feeding your frogs and toads, had so much enthusiasm and made full effort even though it was just for the two of us, really added to the experience :)
I think his names Logan? I don’t quiet remember
@@PYR00055It is Logan,(I'm 99% sure).
I think both Mom and Dad came from the house fire. Mom is called Phoenix, and Dad is Ember. I am just so happy, and seeing the joy on Ed and Emily's faces makes it extra special 💖 💕 💗
@@anndownsouth5070 ah my mistake, I thought it was just the dad! A pair of proud snake parents! (and the human counterparts are thrilled too!)
That is awesome to hear! We love Logan too, and he's actually a full-time employee now because of how awesome he is!
I’m shocked she fit 22 babies in her oh my god that’s amazing
27 actually, don’t forget there were 5 stillborns too
No wonder she wasn’t eating there wasn’t enough room!😂
@@tarjaniatal Damn, 5 stills is a lot. Poor girl
The average clutch size for a boa is 20-25, so she was right on the mark. It seems like a lot, but newborns are so incredibly tiny relative to their moms
Yes, and each baby is the size of some species of snakes when they are fully grown!
Loved the looks on the faces of the kids. They won't be forgetting this trip to Snake Discovery!
the kids were *delighted*
That’s kind of how human pregnancy works too. Just when you accept that it’s never going to end and you’ll actually be pregnant forever, then you finally give birth.
I mean its no wonder post-natal depression is a thing.
As someone who gave birth 6 days ago... yes. That is exactly how it feels
I gave birth to my daughter a year ago and I was in labor for 22 hours and I had two wait part of it at home with no medicine for the pain and I remember being up and down all night beginning my husband to make the pain stop and he was like there's nothing I can do to make it stop we can go to the hospital but they will probably just send you home if you're not dilated to 5 or close to 5 and your contactions aren't on top of each other I even tried to sleep in the bathtub that didn't work I remember the day she was born and the delivery was over the doctors where like mom you can hold your baby and I was like no I want 5 minutes before I hold the thing that kept me up all night and almost all day I ended up waiting for the doctor to get done sticking me up and they washed her off and then I held her for the first time and I feel in love with someone I just met so yes that is 100% true
Under a rock to a bunch of snakes, same as my pregnancy
@Blake Love that must have sucked but I'm sure you'll be glad it wasn't 75 days the longest confirmed human labor that poor woman)
A quick explanation about boa pupils: their actual pupil is elliptical, like a ball python, and it changes shape. A ball pythons becomes more triangular as it enlarges, while a boas becomes more round. That cross that you see is actual pigment from their pattern cutting through the back of their eye. Boas, as far as I know, are the only snakes with patterned eyes. With IMGs, the line darkens with the rest of their body, and the eye can become fully black like a toy teddy bear
woah. that's neat! thanks for saying this!
but why? what's the purpose
@@ellamiller6889 I couldn't find a reason, but it may be some sort of camouflage or illusion to confuse prey or predators. It could also be that their eye structure has adapted to their natural climate, and that unintentionally caused it to look different.
@@kittybun8845 That’s amazing. Nature never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for the interesting info ☺️
i believe the egyptian diadem rat snake can have a stripe across the eye that lines up with its pattern! the ones i saw had that
I love how not-sassy they are XD. It does kinda terrify/horrify me that mom didn't eat for five months but I suppose its understandable she didn't feel like she had any room in there XD
Depending on the species, snakes can go as long as TWO YEARS without eating and still come out of it okay. The longest hunger strike I've personally seen was about fourteen months and my mom says she's seen a twenty two month fast, then one day the snake ate randomly and ate consistently for her every week after until his passing eight years later.
Considering her food is the size of like 5 of her babies trying to digest that and get the waste maneuvered to the cloaca when she was already the stretched probably would have been a logistical nightmare for her. 😅
My ball python hadn't eaten since August and he just ate the other day!!! And then he ate again two days after that!! I'm so relieved. He used to be a great eater but he's 28 now and likes to go on long hunger strikes. The vet says it's normal and he seems fine
I just want to let you guys know that your channel is officially know as “Baby Snakes” in our house as named so by my 2 year old daughter. She loves watching the egg hatching/baby videos. She calls the feisty ones “spicy noodles”. ❤
That's so cute
Emily: "OMG ARE YOU GRAVID?!"
Argentine Boa: "lmao wouldn't you like to know"
Fr 🤣
My son is 5 years old and ask me "can we watch the snake girl" he gets so excited to watch you. We don't live near by or we would go to your zoo. Thanks for helping me teach my child about snakes and other reptiles. I want him to be smart cause we live in a area where we can bump into rattle snakes and your videos help him not be scared of them just wise. Thank you! ❤
I can't believe I guessed it😮😮😮😮
I was like GIVE THAT MAMA FOOD! 😂 After giving birth I was ravenous. It looks like Phoenix was too. Welcome to the world boa babies!
I'm amazed at just how chill the babies are. No tail buzzing, no bluff strikes or mouth gaping, just "whuuuu...." chill
Argentine Boas aren't very common in the pet trade. You guys have a real gift. These guys are fantastic.
Part of that is the price point. A wild-type goes for $1,000, just like a wild-type Angolan Python. Their breeding is still quite similar to that of boa imperators and ball pythons respectively.
@kittybun8845 I know. Though it's been a year now and prices have dropped a fair amount. Now it's in the region of $600, however if you're looking for high pink individuals, two to three grand is what's to be expected.
AAWWWW!!!
And I have to ask, how happy is Emily to have had that sinus surgery so she can smell "it all"? 😂
I wondered that too 😂
That was my first thought lol
Same
Love that you can just tell when Ed is genuinely excited and happy. His voice is so quiet and so smiley.
I lost it at 7:44 when Kim said "Make me slimy" 😂
I can't convince my fiance to let me have one of these, I'm barely convincing her about the blue beauties 😂
A little research and i found out that argentine boas gestate anywhere between 5-8 months.
Regardless of how many snakes hatch at Snake Discovery I love how Em is always so excited like she's never seen it before. This is how you know how much she loves her career and the animals. Just so wholesome and you can't help but root for them! Love this channel! 3 Million Followers Pending! ❤

For the babies that you keep they should have fire/smoke related names since their parents were fire themed.
Name suggestions:
Pyro
Flame
Wildfire
Smolder
Blaze
Inferno
Firestorm
Those are amazing names
ash,
charcoal,
smog,
Cinder
100% agreed!
Great ideas! We will absolutely be doing this for the ones we keep!
My 3 year old watched this with me and hissed the entire time 🐍 congrats on the beautiful babies
Can’t tell if your three year old is a human or a snake.
@@ceciliayus7385 I just realized the first time I replied with this I said snake. But I meant human. My three year old is a human. LOL
Huge respect to ed and emily for not being disgusted by handling little goop babys. 👏👏👏
They look beautiful
Hey ed and Emily I just wanted to say thank you for bringing me and my mom a lot closer together, my mom passed away on the April 17th it’s been rough, but me and her used to watch you all the time, she would say that you sound alot like our family friend Shannon 😂, I really wish I could show her this but thank you for the videos and knowledge that you gave to me and my mom she loved watching you and loved you Emily it was something me and her connected on. Thank you ❤.-Jake
I lost my mom in 2018. It can be rough, but the sharpness of the pain right now doesn't last forever. I'm happy you're able to look back on things that connected you
@@MagiBabble it is rough I never expected it to be so soon at all ngl and I do have some people me and my dad are trying to go back to australia so hopefully
Peace be and may healing surround you, I'm so very sorry for your loss
So sorry for your loss, may you find comfort in the company of family and friends and may our prayers heal your soul
Emily's enthusiasm for all of the animals in your care is so infectious and it's a huge reason why I've been doing my research to get a crested gecko as my first reptile!
Cresties are so cute!! I wish you the best vibes for a future with a new scaley friend
We were so lucky to be there the day this happened, all the way from Utah! Our daughter was so excited to see Snake Discovery and meet Emily!
So excited! Lov seeing you go from not even owning the building to have a happy zoo. Love you guys!
I remember when the heartbreaking yet heartwarming video came out when Phoenix and Ember were rescued from that terrible house fire. We got to see them grow and become mama and papa. We're so proud of you, sweet little(big) snakes! You're babies are beautiful and we can't wait to watch them grow older! 🥰🥰🥰
Even from the first little clip of them, they're BEAUTIFUL!!! Can't wait to finish this video to see them in full!! Congrats on the little babies!!!
I could feel the excitement through the video! Had a big ol' grin the entire time. Congratulations to proud mama Phoenix!
Yaaaaaay!!!! Argentines are so sought after now, any amount of babies is fantastic, and they are adorable. Not many things better or cuter than baby boas! So awesome, congrats guys!!
snake discovery IS MY COMFORT SHOW
❤ Mine too.
Rescued from a house fire now a proud father.
NEW BABIES AS WELL AAAAAA THIS WEEK CANT GET MORE EXCITING
I'm shocked that she had that many babies in her and that they are so big!! Just amazing 😁
Was waiting for the video for so long. Had a great time watching the livestream for weeks. It was very refreshing to see that it’s such a positive place. Everyone so supportive and respectful of others 👌🏼👏🏼
Hi Emily, and Ed I am so happy that Phoenix finally had her babies. Thanks to the caller who said that she was now thin, and must have had her babies. How exciting for every one there, and on live stream. All of the kids there were so excited to see new born baby snakes. They will remember their trip to your zoo for a long time. Emily ,you were so cute, being excited to see the babies. No wonder mom was fat. Twenty two babies are a lot to carry inside phoenix. They are beautiful. Did any of the staff ques the right amount of babies? Baby snake slime, plus the unpleasant smell. Wow they are going into their first shed fast. Please show updates on all of her babies. To bad that there were 5 babies that did not make it, but I bet that happens out in nature to. Glad that you had enough baby bins to put them in. The way you set up the baby bins is very nice. I am glad that you are keeping some to trade out for a new blood line, for different genes. ❤🐍, and your channel. Cindy Florida
The speed with which i phoned my mother to tell her to get on youtube to watch this at the same time as me. So chuffed for you guys and only slightly envious.
I don't watch all y'all's videos, but as soon as I see babies or eggs hatching, I am HERE FOR IT.
LOL I love that you tested the patreon backers. I was nervous too that someone would leak it!! So proud of this community for not spilling the beans ❤ and so happy momma and the babies are healthy and gorgeous!
I didn't even tell my partner 😊
Oh my gosh!!!! She gave birth on MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! I share the day with the Argentine Boa babies!!!!!!! 😊😊
I had to look it up but Argentine's apparently have a Gestation Period of 5-8 months! With breeding season being roughly from April-August. But goodness look how BIG she got before finally having her babies. A proud mama for sure ;v; they are both doing amazingly!
On top of that, they usually have to be paired for around 6 months to have a successful lock. Those two factors are why boas don't reproduce as frequently
It would be so cool to be at a zoo, seeing how thin the snake is, then seeing the owners go into the enclosure and start pulling out baby snakes.
I am so jealous of everyone who got to see that in-person.
I'm just glad Pheonix and her bf had some babies and are doing well! 22 babu's! Go mama! ❤
What a journey those 2 beautiful snakes have had! Welcome babies ❤️❤️
As a Swiftie, I saw Ed do the “✌🏻✌🏻” and started singing lol
Also congrats Emily and Ed!!! The babies are adorable!!
I’m excited to find out how many of them actually became spicy later. The person I got my baby BI from swore up and down that he would inevitably hiss and strike at me, but it’s been a couple years now and for all his shyness, he never did more than huff grumpily when held. I love boas so much, these babies are absolutely precious
Me getting all emotional about baby boas on the other side of the world. ❤️❤️❤️⚘️
you wernt the only one .. i was balling
@wickeddanish5814 we are so silly. If someone told me 3 years ago, I'd get so goofy over, baby danger noodles I would have told them they are nuts. But Ed and Emily's enthusiasm is so continuous.
Wow! They’re so big!! No wonder she looked like she was about to pop!
Happy Birthday! Congratulations on your first clutch. So excited and happy for you and your team. I really enjoy the excitement from Emily, Ed and staff. I know you all work so hard. Those are some lucky baby Boas.
So proud of Phoenix and Ember! They’ve come so far to have all those healthy babies!!
Congratulations on the Argentine babies. They are gorgeous. Speaking from experience, there is nothing more exciting than baby boas being born.
Emily I love how excited you get when babies are born. Love this channel so much because of you and your husband. You make it exciting to watch. Much love to all of you and your crew from Kentucky.
it was so wholesome to see how happy everyone was for you!! and it was a special day for those kids for sure
Baby boas! = ADORABLE
I would be excited to see a video dedicated to how you choose your holdbacks with such a big lovely pool to pick from ❤
Good job mamma! With everything she’s been through amazing that she was able to do this!
@17:46 you mentioned that the healthy ones would slither away and that other things would come eat the still borns. I wonder if making still borns is a good way to draw attention away from the healthy babies. "Don't pay attention to the danger noodles over there, look at these ones that won't fight back and hurt you, they are free for the taking."
I love how the audience at the zoo reacted to you guys reacting to the new members of the family 😆. It's amazing! Anyone can see how much you love, appreciate, and care for your animals. Thanks for the videos! I hope you guys are happy and healthy.
That scale spread, WOW!!!
This video made me so emotional. To survive a house fire, then get an AWESOME home in an amazing zoo, and then becoming parents! Wow! What lucky little snabies!
Ahhhhh! I remember the announcement of her being pregnant on Patreon, then i remember watching the twitch streams! Congrats big mama!
Hi Emily and Ed! Congrats on the new babies!
This was amazing. I got chills just watching Emily get excited, absolutely beautiful. Im sure that was an awesome day for everyone at snake discovery ❤
When I was young, my dad was a snake breeder. We'd go to reptile shows almost every weekend too. We had a pair of Argentine Boas, Licorice and Argie. Seeing your's have babies makes me so happy! Reminds me of when we had babies of our own. Enjoy them
All the kids visiting that day must have been so happy and excited
Had to watch this video a second time. You were so cute & excited when you were told your Argentine Boa Finally had her babies. The joy & excitement of you both and your entire crew was endearing to watch.
Had to put my daughters highlights on hold. Not sure she understood why I’m so excited. Congratulations and you can trust us with anything as we all love the channel 💜
Happiness is a slimy pile of silver snakelets ♡
The babies against the colorful enrichment are so beautiful 😍😭
Definitely my favorite babies to ever be bred by Snake Discovery! Oh I'm so jealous of everybody holding those little cuties!
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. OH MY GOODNESS THEY ARE TO CUTE! The recovery these guys have made are amazing ! I’ve been watching you since I was like 7years old and I, a grown up now and I know a whole bunch of people who love you videos to! I love Rex please say hi to Rex for me he’s so cute! I love your videos please don’t stop making them! Ps baby snakes are the best! - greetings from England and Wales!
Hey hun, no offence but Rex is a girl x
That is so many babies omg i hope momma is doing well after that
I totally blame you for taking one look at a snake at a zoo this weekend and going: "yuuup, she's either pregnant - or really really fat." My friends just looked at me like "how on earth can you tell...?" But... the scale spread! I swear, it was as much as Phoenix. Wish there had been someone around to ask.
Imagine just going to a zoo and randomly someone yells “the snakes are under there” and you see someone go into the enclosure and pull out an infinite amount of baby snakes lol!
I also love so much how they all have mustaches and goatees it’s infinitely hilarious honestly. Baby boas with facial hair !!!
A huge & happy crowd looking on as we meet the baby danger noodles!
I got to meet one of those adorable babies in person now that its a year and a half old. So beautiful.
Watching you gather them on the Stream was so much fun. Heck, watching her & Ember was fun. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely awesome! They look so healthy. No wonder Phoenix was huge! This just tickles me pink!!😍👏🍾🎉
Babies!! ❤ That's awesome!! I can't wait to see some of these guys grow!
Omg they are so cute. I’ve been thinking about breeding these boas
Only breed if you know you will be able to find homes for the babies
@@zottelhuehs6375 ye I’ll make sure I have the room for them if none of them sell
@@World-Of-Reptiles just remember some boas can give birth to 60 babies at once.(average seems to be 20) (source quick google search) Fully grown they would need a lot of space, time, food etc.
@@zottelhuehs6375 ye I want to have a large reptile shop soon so I may just raise up two babies and wait

Oh my god, they are absolutely STUNNING. Boas are such gorgeous animals, all of them.
I FREAKING LOVE YOURE VIDEOS YALL ARE SO COOL AND NICE I LOVE SEEING THE REPTILES ❤❤❤🐍🐍🐍 IM SO EXCITED FOR THE BABIES
So you guys probably know this at this point but for anyone interested, we boa breeders call the group of babies bred in a given season a litter, not a clutter lol. Congrats!
I hope the holdbacks get for names like mom and dad. Cinder, Blaze, Flame, ect.
My wife says one needs to be Fueco 🎉
Ooh yes, Cinder is a gorgeous name.
In the end you mentioned that the Boas are around their 20's. That got me to think: Hey could you guys make a video of the time when snake dies, what to do? How to identify, care and what to do after that. Would be helpfull!
I bet Emily is really loving that nose surgery she had to be able to smell things 😂
