    Please do a meet all our snakes (living in the back of the shop!) It'd be so neat to see who you all still have vs your newer snakes! I understand you can't show all animals in the zoo but It'd be neat to see who is in the back room of your store ❤

    giraffes in small childrens picture books are almost always yellow with brown spots, I imagine that's how the "giraffes are yellow" impression starts in most people, its also really common in more cartoony soft toys. bright colours appeal to little kiddos more than beige and reddish brown i guess

    • @kellybraun7048
      @kellybraun7048 7 месяцев назад +36

      There’s a lot of variation between different giraffe species and subspecies, like more gray than brown spots, different shapes of spots, etc. Photos taken in the bright sun with the saturation turned up might cause beige or tan to look more yellow or gold. I’m not sure any are actually yellow backgrounds, but beige definitely doesn’t come in a Crayola 12pk. 😂

    As a proud parent of one of the babies, can confirm: Spicy. He doesn't seem to be quite as spicy as his parents where they look like they almost bite for the fun of it; he's just VERY defensive and skittish, but we've been making slow-but-definite progress.
    When we first got him, it was pretty lucky if we got away with a handling session without ~5 attempts to bite. Now (~6 weeks later) we can hold him and he very clearly hates it, but won't bite unless we accidentally move too quickly and startle him. The poor little dude is scared of his shadow; he will sometimes hit his own back with a tail waggle and panic and try to dart. He'll also sometimes bump into my hand/finger with his nose, and then panic because he thinks it's attacking him and I'm always like "dude... that was you. You touched ME."
    I don't know if other blue beauty owners feel the same way, but they seem to be a bit more intelligent than my rat, corn, and hognose. Can't quite describe it, but when I interact with him he just seems a bit more "with it" and engaged with the world around him. I recognize the irony of saying that after telling the story of being afraid of his own tail, but the bar is LOW for being considered a smarter-than-average snake.

    While its incredible that this is the second time a baby has hatched during the egg cutting, I'm equally surprised it doesn't happen more often. I'd have thought that disturbing an egg with a full term embryo within it, would have the tendency to trigger some kind of survival instinct for the baby to leave the egg as quickly as possible in case a predator is trying to eat it.

    I have a 1.1 pair of Blue Beauties that I have had from early in their lives (male Ricochet since 6 - 8 weeks old; Female Kaous right around 12 - 16 weeks old). My male was your typical fiesty little cutie, and my female was the complete opposite. She would get a little nervous for a while and we bonded. I have worked with them both extensively from babies (they are both around 5ish feet so now), and it helped calm him down some, but I have found (even though it's a little difficult for me lol) that getting them out together keeps him as calm as she is. She trusts me completely and I trust her, she never tail waggles or strikes, and loves coming out to hang (she even has eating while I hold her). He has calmed alot living with her, and he is soooooo calm when they are out together, and I'm finding since I would take them out together, he is ALOT more calm when I do take him out on his own. Anyone who owns this species, you have to work with them several times a week, don't put them back up just bc they strike or musk, give them time. Also they freaking LOVE their heads rubbed. I adore both of mine and they both seem to trust me and she actually seems to enjoy being with me while he tolerates me, lol.

      @edwardhisse2687 that blade was far from fresh, but as someone who regularly cuts, burns and otherwise injures their hands while working I agree that a small nick with a single edge razor won't be too bad. Even if those cuts get infected they're East to deal with if youre used to minor wound care and catch it early, you only run into real issues when you get a tracking infection but that's rare if you keep it clean and dry

Watching you guys makes me want to try having a snake for a friend some time but i know it's a bad idea because i would never be able to handle their food. I'm content just watching all you guys have so much fun with them

    Actually, all the babies from the green eggs, except the two runts appear to be bigger than the ones from the other clutch. Tobe fair, their eggs were bigger as well. Now a comparison between the green clutches runts and a normal baby from the other would've been nice!
