I think Bobby Hatfield would be very pleased that this song is still making people emotional and happy it is timeless
My dear young Lady, your smile says it all. I've seen that same smile on women's faces for 50 years when they hear this for the first time. No one sings this song like Bobby Hatfield, no body. My Wife and I danced to this song at our wedding, and we danced to it again on our 50th Wedding anniversary. It is a timeless classic that never ceases to amaze everyone who hears it.
Bless you and your long marriage, we’ve just celebrated 39 years, married at 20 and 22 ❤
Same here. Wife dying of Cancer all these decades later. Old now. But no song like this.
Thank You? Beautiful? So are you! I share your emotions and I'm a guy. I felt this song in my soul and cried like a baby. I'll never get tired of his voice. Rest in peace Bobby
It's great to cry from music. Don't listen to others, you're doing OK
Typical reaction to the greatest live solo performance of all time. Beautiful
I loved your reaction. I don’t think people always listen to the lyrics but that’s part of what makes it so beautiful.
This song deserves your reaction. It is a beautiful song but with Bobby singing, it is transcendent. No one else has ever done it so well and hundreds have tried. If a piece of music can become immortal, this is surely one. The greatest love song of its era and certainly of my lifetime which began in 1950. Truly unforgettable.
I agree, even Elvis could not match Bobby.
What a beautiful reaction from a beautiful woman.
the power of GOOD music. REAL music.
A timeless and stunning classic sung by the one and only Bobby Hatfield. Absolutely and without a doubt the best recording of Unchained Melody. I never tire of listening to this song with chills each and every time I hear it. ❤
Great music great
I am nearly 79 years old. I remember dancing with my college sweetheart to this song. I haven't seen her in decades, but I still remeber that dance with her and still love to her Bobby singing this lovely song.
Awesome memory mate✌️✌️✌️✌️
Truly a miracle that Bobby, so many decades ago, can have such a tremendous impact on listeners today. Priceless emotional reaction to one of the most beautiful songs ever performed.
I watch this video at least ten times! Why? I love a woman that loves to be emotional. It shows her compassion for Love.
Thank you❤️
Ohh this is the song which get inside ur heart...when u got pain...u need to cry...and it happens.....always.
PURE & HONEST
The Righteous Brothers travelling through time to slay another pretty lady. So happy to see you feel the same as we did when music brought the world together.
You are a person full of love and that is why you react to it the way you do. Dont fight your feelings.
Bobby Hatfield live performance .
The Andy Williams Show-
Episode #4.5
Episode aired Oct 25, 1965
Robert Lee Hatfield (August 10, 1940 - November 5, 2003) Bobby Hatfield, who had a higher counter tenor voice to Bill Medley’s, William Thomas Medley (born September 19, 1940) baritone, sang lead on this track. It was his idea to record it, since Medley and Hatfield were each allowed to choose a song to sing as a solo vocalist on their albums. As Medley tells it, Hatfield knew the song well, and was a big fan of the Roy Hamilton and Al Hibbler versions of the song.
*In Nov. 2003 Hatfield died of a heart attack at age 63.
The Righteous Brothers version was a huge hit, but it was recorded with far more modest expectations. Phil Spector considered it album filler and released it as a B-side. The single had "Unchained Melody," with no producer credit on the label, as the flip to Gerry Goffin and Carole King's "Hung on You," but many DJs preferred "Unchained Melody" and played that one instead. This infuriated Spector, who subsequently left no doubt (actually calling DJs telling them to play “Hung On You” not “Unchained Melody “)as to which side of a Philles single was the A-side.
* The famous climax of this song where Bobby Hatfield sings the high "I need your love" line wasn't how the song was written. In an interview with Bill Medley, he explained that Hatfield did two takes of the song, then left. He would often reconsider his performance and come back later to change it, and that's what he did on this track, returning to ask Medley if he could make an edit. This was no easy task, since with a maximum of four tracks to work with, you had to record over part of the original take, but Medley accommodated and Hatfield delivered that soaring vocal line. Said Medley: "I punched that in and he left. He said, 'No, I can do it better.' And I said, 'No, you can't.' [Laughs] And I think it's a big part of that song."
* This was released on Philles Records, Phil Spector's label. Spector, known for his "Wall Of Sound" technique, did not produce this - Bill Medley did. In a 2007 statement to the Forgotten Hits newsletter, Medley said: "You have to remember that I was producing our stuff before Phil Spector... I mean I produced 'Little Latin Lupe Lu,' 'My Babe' and all that stuff. Then when we went with Phil, Phil asked me if I would produce the albums because it was too time consuming for him to produce the entire albums. So he was going to do the singles and I would do the album. And so that's how that happened and that's how I produced 'Unchained Melody,' which Phil Spector apparently now takes credit for. He can have the credit. And I'm not a producer. I know how to produce. But it's obviously not a Spector production. 'Unchained Melody' was never intended to be the single... it was produced to be on the album. It was put on the B side of a Phil Spector single 'Hung On You' and the minute it was released 'Unchained Melody' just went through the roof."
Hatfield’s rendition of “Unchained Melody” although not the original, is the ‘gold standard’.
Beautiful reaction. Bobby Hatfield still making women swoon almost 60 years later. My mom n dad used to slow dance to this song in the 60s.
Think I just witnessed another beautiful woman fall in love with probably the the most talented vocalist in an era ❤⭐️
Your tears and reaction are testament to the songwriters' word craft and Bobby Hatfield's God-given singing talents, all of which are of the highest human capabilities and compliments. It's obvious that Bobby was singing that song directly to YOU, Stella!
Beautiful song for a beautiful woman!!!!
The same wonderful reaction we all still have these sixty years later. Bless you Bobby, still breaking hearts in 2024, R.I.P.🙏
They were very memorable songs, with a lot of emotional experiences attached to them for many people!.
All natural voice, no altered voice.. Both of them were all natural,, you just don't hear that today.
You're right...I've listened to reactions 300 plus times..to this dong...never gets old watching others react to a beautiful song..unmatched.
Your reaction is the same reaction that women have had to Bill and Bobby from the early 60s onward. For an entirely different experience give "I Just Want To Make Love To You". Bill is the lead singer
Hauptsache bei Bobby...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bills tribute to Elvis, Old Friend, is a song everybody should check out!
I remember watching this on TV during the Andy Williams Show. The Righteous Brothers were also known as "Blue eyed Soul". You need to listen to more 50s to 80s music where you can understand the lyrics and most singers sung live, w/o autotune; true soulful music.
You know you have it when your dead and your still stealing womans hearts 💕 😊
Stella your reaction is natural as Bobby had a way of touching hearts and souls with his entrancing and captivating delivery. He packs a punch in every performance/song. This performance was even better than the studio cut released on the B side of a 45 which Bill produced and charted twice thanks to the movie Ghost. RIP Bobby Hatfield (1940-2003) you are missed
Best reaction from the Righteous Bros ever! LOL
This was an audience full of adults. The teenagers, esp girls, used to scream their heads off for the RIghteous Brothers.
During the movie ‘Ghost’, when this song was sung, many people in the cinema, even men, actualy cried. It was like a song of not just human love, but divine love. The deep yearning of the soul for God’s love.
What a beautiful description!
This song is responsible for many of us being here today.😁
BEAUTIFUL reaction
Pure blue eyed soul.
Stella, I've watched well over fifty reactions to this song, and as I noted in the comment section under your first reaction, yours was the most spontaneous and easily the best I have seen -- and, I might add, the most enjoyable, in spite of all the pauses (many of which I loved anyway!). I watch it again, over and over, many times. So, please ignore the critics. :-)
Thank you so much
@@StellaTemtsen You're welcome Stella. :-)
Oh my Righteous Brothers. I was 15 yrs old in 1965 and watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show. I have all of their vinyl record albums in my collection. I treasure their music. Please listen to their other hits songs. They were awesome when they sang together. ❤❤❤❤
What a beautiful man, Bobby Hatfield, with a god given voice. This performance was live in 1965 on Andy Williams show, no autotune, just natural. Bobby was blessed with such a voice, no music lessons. He was considered a tenor/counter tenor. We have been blessed to still have his recordings. If you would check out other songs, look see at ebb tide, my prayer, his version of summertime. No worry 👧, no one then and now could compare with his vocal range, actually on exception listen to Ray Hamilton. Ray did this song in 1955, he and bobby do have similiar range of voice. Bobby is dearly missed after all this time, he is still singing in the heavenly choir.
“Unchained Melody” is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the little-known prison film Unchained (January 1955), hence the song title.
•Though many think vocalist Bobby Hatfield sang in falsetto (he didn't) - he sang in a pure tenor on many Righteous Brothers tracks (with Bill Medley) & will always be remembered for his solo turn on their classic “Unchained Melody.”
•They each had the vocal talent to perform as soloists. Medley sang the low parts with his bass-baritone voice, with Hatfield taking the higher-register vocals with his tenor. His voice reached the register of a countertenor.
A voice of an angel from heaven, RIP Bobby! You were the best!
Brave you are for opining yourself to us all.
bobby hatfield had the "x-factor".
i have heard many grest singers, elvis, neil diamond, humperdink sing this song, but bobby owned this song. sucha wonderful, emotional and beautiful performance
thanks for your reaction
Back in the 60s, singers didn't play fair. Don't feel bad for this song taking over, it conquers us all.
Love these reactions. All are similar.
The Lyrics...
Woah, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Lonely rivers flow
To the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea, yeah
Lonely rivers sigh
"Wait for me, wait for me"
I'll be coming home, wait for me
Woah, my love, my darling
I've hungered, hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you.
Loved your honest reaction to this wonderful song. Bobby Hatfield sang it live, which is more amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Most beautiful reaction I’ve ever seen from a beautiful lady . I’m so glad you liked it .
You are a sweet and sensitive lady and that really came out in your reaction here to this magnificent song. In fact, this is one of the best reactions I have ever seen to this song because it is so genuine. You really touched me. Please keep up the wonderful work you do on this channel. And here's to your next reaction! 🙏😊💜

Gorgeous song and a very sweet reaction
MASTERPIECE, enough said.
I saw that on TV when I was sixteen.
You deserve long my dear. And while your hair is awesome, you deserve to be loved for who you are, including a natural hairdo. You're beautiful however you are.
I know how you feel!! Great job!!
It's said that was the best live performance ever ... no auto tune, no re-takes, no tricks ... just pure talent ... "Blue eyed soul". Notice, no strain in his face reaching the high note .. No falsetto ..natural countertenor
Stella, you look as beautiful as ever. Playing one of my favorite songs!
I love your emotions. So sensitive .
Lovely reaction from this lady bobby had an unbelievable voice and yes it's the best live performance ever sadly missed rip ❤
By the end of that Stella, it looked like you needed a hug!
I did😭❤️😭
i cried first time i heard this.
surreal experience
Your reaction touch me so much i fell in love with you along with this song! Your beauty is breath taking.
The way he bites his lip and gives that little smile at the end! Love your reaction. You are so pretty!😊
I totally agree with your reaction. This song, although sweet, is also very poignant - tears are not optional here!
Its funny, its probably the most misinterpreted song by most people.
The song first appeared in a 1955 movie called 'Unchained' in which an inmate contemplating escaping or doing his time, sat on a bed in a dorm sang part of the lyrics to his fellow inmates. Basically, a guy missing his girl and wondering if she will still be there by the time he is freed.
Interestingly, the song was sung by Harry Belafonte at the oscars in 1956. Other versions were sung during the 50's by artists such as Liberace and Perry Como.
It would be some 9yrs later that it was released by the Righteous Bros on the 'B' side of a single as it was considered a 'throw away'. The Righteous Bros had agreed to do 1 solo track per album, Bill Medley originally wanted to sing it, so they tossed a coin and Bob Hatfield ended up singing it.
I love you and your reactions to this Song....;-).... great whishes from Germany ....
Great reaction, ... One of the best, .. Thanks for sharing ♥
Love you're reaction it's a beautiful song I sang it to my wife now been married thirty years lol 😊
Thanks for the uninterrupted redo. Watching your reactions is more than enough to know how you feel. I teared up right along with you.
This song is so poignant and passionate. Knowing the context makes it even more poignant. The context is about a prisoner who misses his wife's touch and love and is in great anxiety over whether time, which can do so much, has eroded her love for him (Are you still mine? I'll be coming home, wait for me, wait for me). The song is from a 1950s movie, Unchained, about this man (he sings it in the movie).
Listen to him sing "Ebb Tide". More tears
Of course Bobby was the main ingredient but the instrumental accompanyment was exquisite. Is that Phil Spector arrangement?
I have to say, I’ve seen a ton of reactions to this song but yours by far is the most genuine I feel. Great reaction to a true classic. 👍🏻👍🏻
I’m brand new to your channel, your reaction is heartwarming ❤️
Thank you so much!!
The best part of this song is when I would slow dance with the girl I was with back then in 1966. We were in heaven for 3 minutes and all the world and it's problems didn't exist.
I wonder how many kids were conceived during this song. Bobby owns this song!
You got a lot of class yourself like my favorite number 1 song of all time. Be safe and take care !
Absolutely Beautiful Young Lady 🌹
I appreciate your reply to my comment one day ago. Your reaction to the video shows that you have a good soul. Be safe and take care.
Stella, you caught me off guard. I know this song well but seeing your tears made me misty.
You are beautiful !! Great reaction !!
A truly beautiful melody that can never be again.
That's the first time I've ever seen the intro with Andy Williams ❗🤔🙂
Thank you
The Greatest Love Song Ever!!
have some ginger and lemon tea for your congestion
Tragically a singer usually is in a dark place to be able to sing a song with so much feeling and unfortunately Bobby was one of those who took his own life so sad
You are a beautiful person
You don't need to apologize you just get caught up in it. Talent, meaning and all of it just hits different.
Beautiful reaction!
We are awesome humans, stop the race war, we are all humans and love music!
I like your reaction and your video editing superimposing the images.
Hello Stella, I just found you today and I’m so glad I did. Watching and listening to this with you was a pleasure. I grew up with these guys, I know they would never have made disparaging comments about you taking time to do your work as a reaction channel host. I’m sorry you feel as though you had to apologize. I’m old enough to have “been-around-the-block” a few times, and I believe you’re going to continue to do very well. Best wishes, from an American now living in Japan.💖
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Try listening to You've Lost that Loving feeling by the righteous brothers

Stella - Thank you for loving my comment to you. Your reaction was the best as compared to many many other reactions because your reaction came from your heart / soul. Some people have it, some people don't. Just remember that ! Be safe and take care.
