Skyrim Battles - Whiterun Raid - Draugr, Werewolves, and Bandits

- Whiterun is under attack! This is my first attempt on a new format: Instead of the highly structured 1 vs. 1 face-offs that I usually do, this one is a lot more random and natural. A few opponents try to raid a town, attacking everyone in sight. The round ends if the intruders die, or nobody from the town is left within the detection radius of the attackers.
To make sure there are lots of people on the streets, I set this up during the early afternoon hours. Some citizens can still survive if they're too far away, or in a house such as the Companions. The raiders won't be able to detect and kill every single one of them.
If they have cleared a significant part of the city and nobody is in sight anymore, they may proceed to challenge the Jarl and his people. They keep their remaining HP from the previous round to make things more realistic and also more balanced, since a full HP restore would make them way too powerful for the Jarl's section.
The large number of NPCs leads to countless issues with this format. The results are highly random, but as always, I try to show rounds with a somewhat average performance from most characters.
It gets even more complicated if there is more than one raider. I limited the maximum amount to 2 for this video; if they run in different directions, it's not possible to capture everything that's going on. I had to stop quite a few recordings early because this happened and we would have missed half of the action.
I have tried some other intruders as well, such as a few Forsworn, an Arch Pyromancer, a Lurker Vindicator, and Mirmulnir. Some of them don't move enough to discover the citizens further away, so they only clear a small part of Whiterun, which is a problem because I'm not sure if this should count as a win or not. Initially placing them closer to the center of the town could be a solution, but I like them starting from the main gate and working their way forward, since this is the most realistic progression.
In any case, those battles took too long to include in this video, so they're future ideas to consider if people like this episode. Other towns could also be an option.
The lack of audio during some portions of the fights is due to limitations in the game engine.

I remember trying to talk to that guy in the bar on my first playthrough. That's all he would say. If you help the storm cloaks he gets promoted to guard captain.
The two bandit chiefs were the most brutal one, they are mercyless and blood thirsty that they don't care if it's a guard or a civilian who they kill.
Or even a cow 😂

Great idea for more Skyrim Battles. I have a mod called "Run for your Lives," in which, when a city is attacked, all the townspeople run into buildings. Amren, who teaches you his sword and shield technique, makes sense to see him go after draugr. Same with Jon Battle-born. But because I have the mod, it surprises me to see Olivia the Feeble, sword in hand, charge a werewolf. Late in your video, when the bandit chiefs kill everyone outside, they go after the cow. Vanilla Skyrim can be funny.

Honestly, the Whiterun guards did better than I expected. I feel like the main reason they didn't do better is cause their gear, the standard guard outfit, helmet and fur boots, kinda sucks lol
They gear is bad, but also their perks. They have a damage output comparable to a large mudcrab 😂

I did smth like that in my game, but I also created a mod for myself, wich make Companions much more stronger (really experienced fighters) and they patrol Whiterun. So, Vilkas, Farkas and Aela could hold the whole bandit raid without guards. Finally, Companions became useful😅
By the way... companions (default or modded) vs whoever - great idea for the next video

I've never liked the Companions much for battles, since most of them are like generic NPCs with little to no perks 😅

The bandit chiefs have the same amount of HP as the guards but way better gear and perks. Still didn't expect them to clear out the whole of whiterun. Seems like that guy in the bannered mare is right, the security in whiterun is indeed terrible lol.

I never understood why town guards were tougher than Imperial legionnaires and Stormcloak rebels, surely it should be the other way round?
True. 🤔 Maybe they're the legendary Dragonborns, and they just don't know it yet 😂
If it's possible, I wonder if you'd consider doing these type of battles with modded characters (once you've cycled through all the interesting vanilla concepts). I've always wondered how the Revenge of the Enemies modded characters would stack up against each other.
I'm picky with the mods that I install, and I avoid things that overhaul existing NPCs. 😅 I have featured a bunch of modded creatures in my videos, but not in town raids. That one is still an early concept and we'll see what I can do with it
Riften or solitude version would be cool.

Probably. They smashed the entire town, and there aren't many good fighters in Dragonsreach either. 😂

Sometimes, there are two Alikrs standing at the gate and they fight quite well when vampires attack!
They always seemed rather weak to me 😅

She’s always the first to die when I transform into a werewolf during the Companion mission.
Maybe do some more Greybeards stuff like them vs 50 bandits or something or 5 drauger death lords. Or maybe have them invade a city next lol
Greybeards are annoying because they mostly win because of stagger and ragdoll spam, which is just frustrating to watch. 😂 I can try, but it probably won't be worth it

The werewolf part made me curious
What if long after skyrim after the dragonborns death a member of the circle who is more so devoted to hircine then the traditions of the companions and uses their werewolf blessings and militarizes the companions only waiting the chance to take over whiterun and all of the hold
I don't think the Companions would be willing to do that, but maybe if they get manipulated. 🤔 They could maybe take over Whiterun, but I think the hold would be too much

This might the first video where you didn’t meet or exceed my expectations. I definitely like the idea, but I was a little underwhelmed with the dragur and bandit forces. I figured you would use a comparable force to a nearby camp or crypt for those. Also a little disappointed that the companions didn’t make an appearance in the defense effort.
I explained it in the description. 😄 This format is already highly complicated, and I can't record more than 1 or 2 intruders at the same time. Anything else would get next to impossible, let alone the lag.
The Companions are inside Jorrvaskr, as always. I didn't change anything about that, so they're just not noticing.
I wonder how special Npcs would have done here? Miraak Vendil and the like
Vendil is a pretty good idea. 🤔 Miraak would probably destroy most towns with ease, but still worth a test!
Vendil would do well but he’d eventually get shot down with arrows. Like Slender said, Miraak would clear out the entire city.
We want solitude with stronger challenger
I've thought about Solitude for another episode, but it might be too large. There would be lots of NPCs surviving, I think

The player only regenerates when feeding, so it makes sense to me 🤔

That makes everything harder to watch though. Nighttime recordings wouldn't work well here 😅

@@H.K.5 That's true, but not everywhere. I checked, and some spots look good, while others are very dark. I do think the nighttime atmosphere is nice, but it wouldn't look that good on video (especially with RUclips's compression), so I'm not sure what would be better 🤔
@@lSlendermaster You sure? Afar I've never seen such a light night in a video game, so light that some modders have resorted to releasing some mods to darken the night to make it look realistic and life-like but if you say it's too dark, it must be true.
