Skyrim Battles - General Falx Carius vs. Captain Veleth, Neloth, Nightmaster Vampire, and more

- General Falx Carius is a very strong character. However, he is difficult to balance for fights. I normally use NPCs at their level cap, but Falx doesn't have one. In my previous episode with him, I put him at a static level 100, matching Tsun. This time, I changed his level for every round to match each particular opponent.
The fight against the Bandit Chief is interesting. Unlike most other rounds in my videos, which are done on adept difficulty, this round was done on expert instead to increase the consistency. Both Falx and the Chief have a very high damage output but low health, and they die after a few hits. Furthermore, the finishing moves make this highly random and inconsistent. Doing this on a higher difficulty helps getting more stable results.
However, it was still hard to find a fair winner because they are almost equally strong at the same level. I did 100 rounds with Falx vs. the Chief, which took 1 hour and 39 minutes (not counting the initial setup and about 15 test rounds). Falx won 39 times, and the Bandit Chief won 61 times.
Note that the Chief had the best equipment he can naturally spawn with (very rarely, it's usually much worse), and Falx was matching his level of 28, only 3 levels above Falx' minimum level. Even with the Chief at his best and Falx at almost his worst, it was well balanced. Falx has much more potential than the Bandit.
If you're level 28 while meeting Falx, he is already level 42 and has reached his maximum damage output, so he's a lot stronger and much more dangerous than a Bandit Chief.
In the final round, 3 leveled Ash Spawn accompany Falx; 1 Skirmisher and 2 Immolators.
The Ebony Warrior did worse than I expected. In a 1 vs. 1, he completely obliterates Falx even if he's at a much higher level. The Ash Spawn can tank some attacks and also inflict stagger, while Falx can do extreme amounts of damage while the Ebony Warrior is focusing on the minions. If he attacks Falx first and doesn't get interrupted, he has an easy time because the Ash Spawn alone aren't really dangerous for him later.
Another small but important detail is the Ebony Warrior's Unrelenting Force; because he hit an Ash Spawn and not Falx, he could do severe damage to the Ebony Warrior early on, before he had his shield up. If he ragdolls Falx instead, he has enough time to cast his flesh spell and equip his shield before Falx can fight back.
The blooper with the Riekling Charger is most likely based on a bad navmesh at the right side of Falx' area, close to the ladder. If an NPC is standing at the wrong spot, opponents recognize them as "out of reach" and will act accordingly (switch to ranged weapons, spells, or simply run away if they have neither).
The Charger has weird AI and just decided to stand there, but considered Falx out of melee range, so he didn't attack. It happened quite a few times during the recordings for this episode.

Bandit chief beat him? Wow ! He got his revenge because in his video he got defeated by falx
chief have more perks
Carius Beat him with 1280 HP he have in this fight 440 HP
It's mostly a level and gear thing. I've explained the details in the description 😄
The Ebony Warrior made Ulfric's move 7:00
Indeed! 😂
When I saw the Ebony Warrior, first thing I thought was Falx is completely dead, however he and the ash spawns did much better against him than I thought.
Same here! I wasn't expecting this to be a great setup, but I'm glad I tried it 😄
Absolute boss move and disrespect by the ebony warrior to kill Falx with a shout like that lol.
He really sent him a message 😂
7:00 DOMINATING
"They say The Ebony Warrior murdered General Falx Carius... with his voice! Shouted him apart!"
Thamk you for doing captain veleth, that epic battle really needed to happen since one is at the start of the quest and the other found at the end
You're welcome! I thought it would be interesting to see. Glad it's fun to watch! 😁
Nice I wonder if a Volkihar vampire with conjuration spells could take out Flax.
they can't conjure only reanimate. weak zombies at that.
I agree with @Supercharged here 😅
@@lSlendermaster Still would be cool to see. I’ve run into a few of them at a high-level.
@@cdrunner7876 That would be without conjuration magic then though 😅
@@lSlendermaster I must be thinking of a Pyromancer then.
Ebony Warrior with the casual W
That’s the thing with EW. You need a pretty high DPS to beat him. Falx and his meat shields’ damage output was just too small and gave EW more than ample time to restore his HP. I guess low dps can still defeat EW if coupled with lightning destruction spells, thus denying him use of restoration spells.
You're right about all that! Funny thing, I've seen Falx defeat the Ebony Warrior by depleting his magicka pool through chaos damage... but Falx was almost at level 500! 😂 At lower levels, his HP is just too poor to withstand long enough.
Wow didn't imagine that the EW would have such a hard time
Same, honestly. Falx did some crazy damage while ignoring half of the armor rating while the Ash Spawn distracted the Ebony Warrior. Pretty effective combo 😂
Impressive the fights, and surprised that the bandit chief beat him, but I noticed that in each fight, Falx has different life points, is this normal?
Ebony warrior who almost died but who regained the upper hand, and on the blooper, he exploded his eardrums by making a FUSRODAH drpit in his face! XD
Great that you enjoyed them! 😎 Falx has no level cap, so I can't put him at his maximum level. Instead, I adjusted it to match the level of his opponent for every round 😄
That was one of the funniest kills I have ever seen 😂
Thanks @@lSlendermaster ^^
Oooh i see, and Yes, for once someone powerful is killed by the shout XD
@@judinatheargonianthief1385 You're welcome! 😁
Yes, it's not something you see every day! 😂
Love your videos
Thanks, I'm glad! 😄
The riekling wanted to fight in an open area and was impatiently waiting for you to change arenas lol
Good explanation 😂
3:30 SLAM DUNK! 🏀
Seems like he was an NBA player in his past life! 😆
😂
Hey there! Great Video once again! I am hyped for the next tournament :) Btw what kind of lifebar mod are you using? Because I use TrueHUD but everytime I go into tfc mode, the lifebars disappear :(
Hey! Thank you!! 😁 I hope you'll enjoy the upcoming content!
Yeah, TrueHUD isn't supported with TFC, which is a big bummer. :/ I use Floating Healthbars. That mod works with 1.5.97, and it's also possible to get it to work with 1.6.640, although it's a bit more complicated. I have no idea if it's still functional in the latest official Skyrim release. 😅
Here's the Nexus link for 1.5.97:

Were you able to fix the bug with summoning a creature and a cloak? Congratulations, this is very cool!
And Falx was able to deal quite a lot of damage to the Ebony Warrior, because the perk that ignores armor with maces and hammers is OP
Yes! Neloth's Ash Guardian hasn't despawned ever since. Thanks for guiding me in the right direction! 😁
Yup, it was crazy to see! A much better fight than I initially thought
If you look closely ebony warrior did over 300 damage with a power attack
He can, yes! Not many NPCs even come close 😎
Slender, i know you already responded to one of my comments regarding this, but maybe you can sometimes use at least enb to make the whole thing look better thus making battles more epic? Especially regular battles without any mages since there are no flashy effects
I have looked it up for a little bit, but there are multiple versions of multiple mods called ENB, right? Which one exactly do you mean? 😅
I would like to see the one called Rudy enb since it looks good and close to vanilla, at least for me. Please try to install it when you have free time
@@Ersultan234 I've checked it out. It has a ton of requirements which I don't want to install. There's no standalone version, as far as I can see? 🤔
@@lSlendermaster Yeah, it seems like three is no such version thx for trying at least
@@Ersultan234 I see. You're welcome, thanks anyway for the suggestion 😄
Two-handed is underrated!
I personally prefer one-handed, but both can be very effective!
So neloth defeated him but not ildari?! Hmm I wonder
The Whirlwind Cloak is OP.
Neloth's atronach is way tankier
In the Video he Beat Ildari have he 1280 HP In this Figth he have 813
The level and the Whirlwind Cloak matter a lot, yeah. Warrior vs. mage also gets pretty inconsistent
I want a remastered version of the nightmaster and nightlord vampire videos !
What setups do you have in mind? 🤔
@@lSlendermaster the nightmaster vampire against arcano, savos ,Sam guevenne draugr death lord, ildari, and the final boss being karstaag against 8 nightmaster vampires with magic and melee also can you use the same song for the intro that you originally used for the nightmaster video ?
@@user-fq4qf3qz1c That's the same thing we talked about on Discord, right? 😄
Falx is pretty incosistent due to his behaviour and his weapon.
The Bandit Chief has the advantage of Extra Dmg 2 and Devastating blow stacking dmg.
For being a DLC enemy, Falx is quite weak, compared to the Ash Spawn who are much stronger.
Yeah, Falx is inconsistent indeed. His tendency to block and the random Chaos effect makes things rather hard to predict.
Falx is very strong; no Ash Spawn would beat him in a direct faceoff. But several ones could indeed!
After playing with Precision for a while It's weird to watch melee without Precision
Oh yeah, I can imagine!
Falx was pretty underpowered in this video. When he beat Tsun, he had around 1400 hp.
Falx has no level cap, so to keep things fair, I matched his level to his opponent. Against Tsun, both were level 100. In this video, it varies, and he's rather weak against a level 28 Bandit Chief.
I'm still not sure how to balance that in general. I made an episode about Falx with him at level 100 at all times. It lead to good battles, but he won some matches that he wouldn't have won at lower levels. There's no objectively good way to solve this, I'm afraid 🤷
@@lSlendermaster I see, fair enough!
I don’t care what nobody says falx is badass
And you are totally right!
Agreed
Bandit chief defeated him? And nightmaster vampire couldn't? Does it mean that Bandit chief can defeat Nightmaster vampire n close combat? 🤔
Falx is difficult to balance because he has no level cap, so I changed his level to match that of his opponents. At level 65, Falx would have no trouble beating the Chief, and neither would the Nightmaster 😄
@@lSlendermaster yeah I just read the description and understood what's going.
@@charliesingh7919 It's a bit confusing, and I'm still not entirely sure if that's the best way 😅
Carius has then 1280 HP now 440 why?
I've explained it in the description. No level cap, so I had to choose a level for him manually. Last time, it was 100 for every round, but here, I matched him to his opponents 😄
He doesn't even have extra damage 2.5 does he?
And he hits like a truck
Nope, he doesn't have it 😂
Does Ebony Knight know any other shouts?
Just Disarm and Unrelenting Force.
The Revenge of the Enemies mod gives him more shouts but makes him more OP (he can literally clone himself)
@@thatskeletordude5271 I see.
what about miraak vs him and ash spawns?
Miraak would be toast for sure. Falx at level 150 already gets relatively close to defeating him, and the Ash Spawn would be more than enough help him win!
also the vampire did so poorly
He could do better if he went for melee before he's out of magicka, yeah
@@lSlendermaster maybe a nightlord would’ve done better (and also lower level for Falx )
@@Supcharged The Nightlord has less magicka, but also less health, so I guess it would be about the same. The level could make a bit of a difference though, yeah. Maybe I'll try that in a future episode 🤔
