  • I probably should've used the 2015 model AMG in ACC instead of the 2020, but I don't think that changes much. I'm too lazy to redo the ACC part. The main differences, however, are in terms of physics. In ACC, the car feels much heavier, and when taking the curbs, ACC really nails it. On the other hand, AMS2 feels off sometimes. It doesn't completely convey the sensation of a over one-thousand kilogram vehicle going over a curb. One thing however I feel is probably more accurate in AMS2 is the braking. In ACC you pretty much slam brakes 100% in every corner but in AMS2 you really have to be a bit more careful.
    But overall, AMS2 GT3 also feels pretty nice; it's not that far off, and I'm achieving similar lap times in both games. Of course, ACC has more detailed graphics and sounds more realistic. Still, AMS2 is not just a GT3 simulator; it offers loads of other content. Nevertheless, AMS2 still feels like it has a quality problem with some of its content. I feel that the GT3 content is miles better than most of the F1 content in the game.

    I can't get over the new update for AMS2, it's night and day from what it was. The FFB is on par with rFactor. The AI is better than the rest. The slidey feeling that was there in earlier patches is gone in most cars and the grip is much easier to feel. There's way more content than ACC. They just need to sort out online as iRacing and ACC has it beat on that!

    • @recarsion

      I never played pre update AMS2 but it's still very slidey compared to ACC. But I agree the FFB is very good and helps you control the slide. It's a very different but very fun way to drive.

    AMS 2 is definitely a lot fun to drive now and has lots of different content to play with. But this does also show some of my issues with it, like the audio design just generally still being really weak.

    If AMS2 only had a better Multiplayer-system, like iRacing, LFM or RF2´s new RaceControl. With that graphics, the new physics, the FFB, it´s content, it would be on top.

    What I like about AMS2 is that the landscape changes depending on the date and time of the year. The position of the sun also changes, for example, at 10 a.m. in June, the sun is high, and in late autumn it is low above the horizon.

    AMS2 1.5.3 is excellent, on par with the other racing games apart from online. However AMS2 now has others beat in the solo play with the AI.

      @@MotorsportMindedExactly. I don't know what's so great about the SP, but the MP lacks. The game is not old, the graphics are good, if there was LFM or RCO integrated, I think it would grow very fast.

    I find AMS2 to be good fun, I've enjoyed messing about in ACC here and there but it's not got the fun factor and have to run the graphics so low for it to run smoothly. I don't have the most powerful PC but AMS2 runs a full grid even in the wet or at night on max graphics without a problem. If I was really into GT3 I'd maybe upgrade to solve it but the AMS2 cars are enough and I have a more enjoyable time driving the Stock Cars, Copa Montana and some of the classic stuff.

    The thing is... ACC is all about GT3 and 4... and GT3 and 4 at AMS2 is practically at the same level, but ain't the best that Reiza's game can offer. The four prototype divisions, the Copa Truck and most of the formula cars are one or two steps above GT3 at both sims. Maybe the GT1, Group C, DTM and Stock Car Brasil are also better than any GT3 ever simulated.

      His FOV is wider in the ACC shots, so it's going to give a faster sense of speed from that alone. They feel very similar to me when FOVs are the same. If anything, AMS2 gives me a better sense of speed in combination with its FFB.

    GT3 cars do not weight anywhere near 2000kg.
    The road version of the AMG may, but the GT3 version is balanced and regulated. It weighs closer to a road going GR86.

    • @MotorsportMinded
      @MotorsportMinded  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the correction I don't know where I pulled that number out :D. But I still think that ams2 the car feels a bit too light/weightless when going over the curbs, I think acc really nails the curbs.

  • @kevinhadj82
    @kevinhadj82 10 месяцев назад +2

    Curbs are pretty much a non-event in AMS2, you cannot use them to affect the cars behavior in corners, they are just "there". The surface road is lacking any kind of detail that could affect the traction and braking of the cars. Assists are also lacking any real behavior in AMS2, see those slides even when using max TC. ABS does not help to turn-in at all, just avoid lock-up, even in trail braking.
    I mean you beat the AMG EVO with the 2015 version...
    AMS2 still struggles to remove that floaty feeling and properly convey the connection to the road. I feel the issue is most likely in the dampers simulation and the interaction between slow, fast dampers and the springs. That is also why older content feel fine, as those older cars did not have anything similar to the current complexity introduced by fast dampers.

    • @MotorsportMinded
      @MotorsportMinded  10 месяцев назад +1

      Valid criticism only thing I would kinda disagree is this part " mean you beat the AMG EVO with the 2015 version..." I mean I don't really feel much difference between the 2020 and 2015 in ACC either. Also first time driving Imola with a GT3 car and I did ACC lap first so I had more experience/knowledge how to drive the track when I did AMS2 lap.

    With all the hype for the latest Automobilista 2 patch and the rather cheap sale price I gave it another go the weekend. Along with my son we spent 2 hours trying different cars and fiddling with the FFB settings but we both couldn't get on with it at all and refunded it. We found the FFB especially to be just awful, maybe with many hours of fiddling with ini files there's a magic setting for good FFB but out of the box the default+ FFB was just horrid, very unrealistic and lacking any feel on the limit. After our 2 hour Automobilista 2 test I hopped back into ACC and AC to directly compare similar cars and they are both night and day so much better.

      @@somecallmetim42 It's funny you say that, because I always thought that ffb is unrealistic by definition, since you have to emulate all the forces you feel in your entire body through the steering wheel. I mean, I also like going to track days, and there's no game that can emulate the feeling of being in a car. A skid is corrected through the steering wheel, but is not felt through it.
      Furthermore, when it comes to ffb, in its own unrealistic way, I agree that AC is the most successful.

    Ams2 is far better both in audio AND visuals for me. ACC seems like the lighting has major issues too, like the car has a sunroof, way too bright inside the cockpit…. Can’t wait to finally buy a pic for more sim racing options as to acc on console. As I can’t stand the graphics on the ps5 anymore. 2024 pc, here I come. :). Rig and all. @abuelb Your statement shows a true misunderstanding of "arcade" "simcade" "simulation" - these terms are about how much & deep the simulation goes, not how accurate it is (there is much left for interpretation in that regard anyways). Otherwise iRacing v6 tire model, Assetto Corsa drifting would be considered simcade, but nobody does (both are widely considered unrealistic).
      AMS2 simulates so much, it is atm the most advanced simulation (in terms of depth) that there is - it is 100% a simulation.
      Btw. Nicki Thiim (GT3/GTE rl driver) criticized ACC for feeling like driving boats / too heavy vehicles - does that make it now simcade? No!
