I mean, can you IMAGINE trying to set that desk back up after he literally knocked it all over? What if he just SCRAPPED THE WHOLE SCENE? Wouldn't it have just been a waste of time??
You may know, but the scene where he swept everything off his desk had to be filmed at least twice as there is a blooper where nothing came off the desk and instead just commenced together. So he would have had to reset things and still film it again!

It's a tragedy, he deserves more.
Yeah, its a tragedy, ive subscribed to him just rn but I heard of him already some years ago...
You won't be saying he's below a million soon.
I mean, he's getting pretty close.

Remake: An older game that has been remade from scratch, using modern tech standards to improve the performance and graphics, as well as usually adding new content. Remakes usually look completely different to the original but follow the same path in terms of story, locations, characters, and overall gameplay. It is literally a remade version of a game, and is often a huge leap forward thanks to the new development techniques afforded by modern hardware and game engines.
Remaster: The same game but with improvements to the graphics and performance, as well as bug fixes and other quality of life improvements. A remaster looks similar to the original release, with the exception of any graphical improvements. They're often designed to take advantage of newer hardware and breathe new life into a game that may benefit from a fresh coat of paint. Remasters may also sometimes have added content. Besides that, it's almost the exact same base game.
Rerelease/Port: The same game but now playable on a different platform. With the exception of some UI changes and other optimisations, it's exactly the same as every other version of the game. There may be some differences in resolution and framerate, depending on the platform, but it's still the exact same game, relatively unchanged.
Enhanced Port: A weird cross between a port and a remaster. Enhanced ports may add content or improve the graphics slightly. They don't add enough to be a remaster, but do add enough to be more than just a simple port. It's had changes to better suit the hardware it runs on, but it's still pretty much the same game with some minor tweaks here and there. This can sometimes mean that an enhanced port which is built for less powerful hardware will have worse graphics than the original release despite having the added content and tweaks, though this scenario is uncommon for enhanced ports. An enhanced port is best described as the definitive version of a game. It's the best version of a game that already exists.
Reimagining: Taking an existing game's plot and building an entirely new game around it. A reimagining will usually follow the same story and characters but have completely different gameplay to the original. Many people often mistake reimaginings for remakes because they both involve creating something new whilst using an existing game as source material. Unlike a remake, a reimagining deviates so far from what the original was like, that it can be treated as an entirely new game that happens to use the same overall story as the original. A reimagining is a whole new experience in a familiar world. A retelling of an existing story from an entirely different perspective.
Demake: Similar to a remake, but backwards. A demake is a recreation of an existing game, built for older hardware or engines. As such, a demake often has intentionally worse graphics and possibly performance due to limitations imposed by less powerful hardware. There may also be cut content to accomodate storage limitations. A demake still sorta looks like the original, but anywhere from slightly to significantly worse. Demakes are usually made either as a novelty, or to make a game available to more people. However, it's also the least recommended way to play a game. Demakes aren't common because developers see it as a waste of time, resources, and money to make a worse version of their existing game. Depending on the game, a new engine may also need to built from scratch, which just looks even more wasteful to developers. This means that most demakes are made either out of necessity to reach more players, or because the hardware the developers are working with can't handle the original game. Many demakes are even fan-made passion projects, which means they don't tend to pick up nearly as much steam as an offical release, giving most people little reason to play them, regardless of how well-made they are. While demakes can be cool for a little while, they're hardly the way you want to be playing a game if you intend on seriously playing through it. It's usually a better idea to stick to the original game in this instance, despite the cool novelty factor of some demakes.
appreciate the effort, thanks my dude

Enhanced Port: Super Mario Advance (and its sequels kinda)

Demake: Donkey Kong Land
It deeply bothers me how many people who didn’t play both FF7 games don’t realize the remake is a actually a sequel cleverly titled “remake” because sephiroth has rewound time to try and break fate and thus “remake” all of the events that took place in the first game.

Port/Re-release, remaster, remake, re-imagining. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on Switch is a port, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD is a remaster, Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy is a remake, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a re-imagining. This is how I define these terms in the context of video game re-releases.
Yes, same here!!
It mean they made the same game and sale it again...
I'd say wind waker HD is in the middle as it was majorly edited, unlike Twilight Princess hd which was just cleaning up a bit. Windwaker was basically from the ground up with a lot of things different
tropical freeze was a remaster because it was in a higher resolution

They also made more copies than the amount of consoles sold at the time.
:(
Don't forget Atari refusing to credit the people making the game, leading to people leaving, forming their own studios and revealing the biggest problem for Atari:
Anyone could make a game for the 2600, and they didn't need to get Atari's permission. Leading to stores being overloaded with low quality games, made by anybody with enough cash and time.

@bigevilworldwide1 It is a complete rebuild of HL1 from the ground up in the Source engine that was given Valve's blessing. Fan-made or not. It is a remake. Doom 2016 is a sequel of Doom 64 but in the same time looks like a reboot and the same thing can be said with God of War PS4 or God fo War 4. That's why some people came out with the term "soft reboot".

When even Scott doesn’t like Disney live action remakes and he feels the need to say it, you know they’re bad
What's bad about them is they are mostly cash grabs on the children whom are now adults from the 1990's/early 2000's. Plus they didn't capture the originals in a positive light.
I agree, but I will argue that Maleficent and The Jungle Book were both justifiable with the amount of originality added to those movies. The felt more like "what-ifs" or spin-offs than remakes.
@@AlmightyPolarBear at least they are now on disney+ so they arent really cash grabs since i doubt anyone is buying disney+ for the remakes
The closest we ever got to a good Disney live-action remake was ironically the first one, The Jungle Book (1994). It's far more faithful to the original source material than the animated version which was Disney's last film, while at the same time bringing in good/fun elements unique to that animated version.
The only other one worth your time is the 1996 version of 101 Dalmatians, and that entirely because of how well Glenn Close *NAILS* the personality and character of Cruela DeVille. She's a joy to watch go completely ham in the role.

I like to name the ¨reeeemakes¨ reimaginings, since as Scott said, these are completely new games and experiences based on existing stories and characters. I would put Star Fox Zero in the same category
yup, and 64 would be a reimagining as well since it was a remake of the original with a ton of changes & new content...
But most movie remakes re-imagine the flick. The only "100% loyal" remake I can think of is Psycho.
@@ThePreciseClimber Yeah scott missed the point, Remasters, remakes, are all pulled from movie terms. A remaster means the game is changed to run on new hardware, regardless if they improve the graphics or not its a remaster. A remake means the game was Remade with new art direction and a new director using a similar script. The Resident Evil 1 remake is just that a remake of RE1 with new vision. The Re2 remake is again the same thing a remake. Movie remakes can be similar or not similar. That's kind of the point.
Doesn't help that the game companies get the terms confused as well though.
@@Lowlightt basic english also applies here, you are re-making the game. Aka building the game from the ground up with the source material as your guide. Something like FF7 and RE2 can be considered re-imagining if you want but that doesn't mean the term "remake" is wrong or false advertising.
@@nuttedlemons you're right, calling them remakes isn't necessarily wrong. But in the case of a game like FF7R, I think calling it a remake does a disservice to both itself and the original.

Oh man, that series is great. Wish he'd release videos more often, but I get that he takes a lot of time to get into them
And speaking of which, I wonder if he'd feel the need to add a new category above remake for FFVII or RE2/3, like how Scott did
'' here is Pac-Man,and here is someone trying their best ''

"Here is Pac-Man, and here is someone trying their best."
Why is there like 5 spaces between every quotation mark and comma
@@blomgus That's why I added the correct version with proper spacing, spelling, grammar and quotations, and they actually misspelled a word that wasn't even there.
There's no issue with remasters or whatever they call bringing the original or slight improved edition of the game being ported to modern consoles. I simply do not want to pay half or almost full price for these games. Yes Nintendo, I'm not buying L.A Noire for 50$ when I played it 8 years ago for 10$. It's just a cash grab at this point
Watching Scott toss game cases around makes me happy
Edit: I changed my comment to have no context.
You're welcome :)
I would too if my favorite game was Madden '08.
Shadowth117 What are you implying
@@Shadowth117 I always hated sports games, but bought Madden 08 Wii as a joke.
I actually really like it.
Is Scott HowToBasic?
He's King's forgotten cousin bot destroy stuff
7:31 Scott: “Who wants to see a fetus play Nintendo?”
Binding of Isaac: “🥺”
This format got old
Bob Wulf even I agree but it was my quickest thought, tryna get a ❤️ from Scott dammit lol
FelixRosas10 he did himself he hates these comments in a video
Bob Wulf well then Scott’s gonna be mad at me 🤷🏽♂️
I love you your so genuinely funny and witty and informative
Scott’s vids are always mad funny
" I always wanted to be a remake"
I felt that
Is Woz the Scott a remake of Scott the Woz?
Of course you felt that you're a copy
I like how this channel was made 5 years ago
@@justinc.5591 nah that looks like a bootleg
I love how he refuses to talk about the Gameboy Advance because of the amount of rereleases/remasters on that system.
Digital Gamer and demakes/ports
@@Yuribz1 that's a bit harsh, Metroid Zero was impressive
Basically there’s enough re-releases on the GameBoy Advance that he Might have to do a separate video on that
@@canfelgie8559 while Zero mission is what a perfect remake looks like, the same can not be said about say Mario advance games, their screens show less and while there is more content some of it you just wish you could turn off like voice samples
The usual term for "reeeeemake" is "reimagining."
Also OoT 3D, MM 3D and Starfox 64 3D were all made from the ground up for new hardware. They're Remakes.
But they were also made to play exactly like the original, with minimal tweaks, so they're Remasters.
@@irrespondible Then why is the N-Sane Trilogy a remake?
@@manuelborrelli9228 Did he say what else were they different?
OoT 3D used the same sound, reused the original's code, with some tweaks, and the only additions was the master quest and boss rush. The only things redone were textures and models
@@PokeMario-pk4ot That's a Remaster.
I don't know if this is universal, but this is how I classify the three types:
Rerelease: porting a game from one console to another (or can be same Gen as a 'Definitive Edition') with little to no changes and can bundle in all previous content
examples: FFXIII from 360 to XB1 & Nier: Automata to Game of the Yorha Edition
Remaster: Putting a new overhauled skin over the original game, while usually bundling together all previous content and maybe adding in some Easter eggs
examples: DeS Remake (it's called a remake, but besides graphics nothing about the game is changed), DSR, Shining Resonance Refrain, PS3 ICO, & Shadow of the Colossus PS3 & PS4 versions
Remake: The cream of the crop, a Remake is a bottom to top recreation of the original game that completely overhauls the graphics while revamping gameplay and adding in Easter eggs and sometimes changes to the plot of the game
examples: Nier RepliCant Ver 1.2247..., Resident Evil 2, & FFVII Intergrade
While there is some leeway for all of these categories, I think these definitions are what make the most sense, at least to me. It doesn't matter if the game is called remake, it matters if it is one by definition.
Here's a bonus category, someone needs to let me know what games are a part of this one, as it falls in the center of all three categories.
The WTF release
example: DS2 SotFS
“The sentence is over” made me laugh way harder than it should have
The fact that EA hasn't released a Maden 08 remake is a sin in up of itself.
They did remake it. They remade it every year after.
They did, Madden 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 you get my point by now lol Although to be fair I consider 2K a lot worse at this than EA. I didn't feel ripped off when I played NCAA 2008 and then jumped to 2013.
The Sonic CD cutscenes were animated in 4:3 but were presented in a cropped cinematic 2.2:1 ultra-widescreen aspect ratio on Sega CD and PC (before the HD remaster).
The HD remaster still opens up the image just like the Gems Collection but it’s still not as cropped as the Sega CD version. And in the mobile versions of the remasters, you can choose between 4:3 or fullscreen cutscenes.
The 4:3 version in the Gems Collection is open matte from the original 2.2:1 presentation.
Almost a million subs you deserve it.
Can't wait for the scott remake. Scott: Reloaded

Personally I like to use the term "Reimagining" for games like the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7. They're still remakes, build from the ground up, but they're also reimagined for modern systems and audiences.
16:50 I can hear the quotations
Absolutely love this!
