You make it look so easy, I made the mistake of trying. The result is Hiroshima and I'm in the 9th dimension wondering what I did wrong. Your work is worth every penny.
He does make it look easy, He has years of experience and does it day in day out, he's always going to make it look easy XD but you didn't make a mistake in trying, its good that you're trying! but i always advise to practice on things you can afford to mess up, old/broken boards, after a few times you'll figure it out. Keep practising!
I guarantee you didn’t use enough flux, low melt solder, a quality iron and experience.
@@sk8thundr I've gotta get low melt solder. I bet it makes all the difference. That and precision Flux application.
@@therising1 That and a heat gun.
Good tools and experience make a difference. Soldering is not easy.
I do these often in my shop and do the PS5 hdmi ports the same way you do them. I have learn a good bit from watching you and I have been doing this type of work for 14 years now. You know what you're doing. Keep up the good work man.
please don't fast forward the soldering and the repair part of video. It is very relaxing to watch it.
Headaches for you my brother. Good thing you have the confidence to continue even though it's something beyond your expectations.
Great work as always! Happy New Year as this is the first video I see this Year!
Thanks to you I also experimented with ps5 hdmi connector by reflowing and my god it's an beauty seeing that I am the one who did it thank you northridgefix
Hey, thank you for this videos! cheers
Great job Sir!
your hand movements are like surgeon... Superb
Another Day in Paradise for Alex. Certainly greatest feeling ever to bring those devices back to life; hopefully you can make video for the Switch Board.
Amazing skill and repairs!
That was a really nice and "better than factory"-job. I love your work so much. You do such a great job. Thank your for the video! Greets
where is the repair of the other 2 disasters? This one was by far the easiest and most boring one.
I beg to differ. That connector is going to have fractured solder joints in the future. The solder didn't wet up the sides of the pins properly.
that was realy quick ! good job sir .. "BETTER THAN FACTORY"
The hiroshima videos are my favorite. Amazing skills Alex!
very thanks sir
great skill alex your teacher would be proud of you .... your teacher obviously was ace ...
@1:27 Wow, amazing you're doing this video, I'm working on my Xbox series x, and it looks EXACTLY the same @1:27, only worse.... The HDMI trace wire esd filters are off and the Trace wires that run up to the chip, 3 are ripped off that chip.
i love your smile after success repair thank you for videos learned many things from you! 🥰🥰
Nicely done. Always admire your work. And so do some of my friends also in the tech repair business. How did you start in the microsoldering world?
Just asking, as I’ve been soldering for 5 years. Am proficient. But always room for improvement and everyday is a school day
You nearly had a Hiroshima with your keyboard 😉. nice work as always.
Amazing as always,
Very good explain thanku
Awesome job bro keep rocking bro 👍👍👍
Hi and Hello. As always clean and perfect work
Very nice and fine work sir. I like electronic work . Every time i doing smd work my hands✋on vibration mode. How to improve.???
I like the smile of victory when he did the job.
Thats one happy Alex!
Nice job!
Good job 👍🏻
People are so careless with electronics. I just replaced two hdmi ports on xbox one, zero pads pulled and clean install. You need to have knowledge of what you are doing before you attempt any kind of repair. Thankfully these videos help me with great tips, thanks!
Good work
That grin at the end tho 💪🏼😂🙌🏼
Very nice soldering. Like in the factory done by a robot :-)
Thumbs up and best wishes from Germany
Its not easy to fix some man made trouble.except to this guy.his a professional technicians.🤔👍👍👍
What i used to do when i replaced usb connectors in phones 12 years ago was to cut the connector open so that the grounding pins were free, then remove it using hot air. Allso, i didnt reatach it using hot air, rather i just soldered it on with a bent tip.
What temperature and airflow do you set on rework station?Thx
Do you use a small clip or clamp to help hold the HDMI ports steady while soldering? Thanks again
Very good 👍🏾
Great work... again 🙈👍
Good Job
Good job
Quel talent très fan de vos vidéo a quel température air chaud pour dessouder HDMI
Avec 861DW Quick
Merci
Just a question what fuse would you use on the Nintendo Switch?
Would be a nice to see some cost estimates for the each 'hiroshimas' repair ;)
I think I was the first in the world to get a ps5 hdmi repair 🤦♂️ 1 week I had it in first release and it fell off my shelf, also couldn’t get the genuine hdmi port so used PS4 pro hdmi and ran wires 👍🏻 works perfect since
I remember that. It's crazy why Sony decided to shift the HDMI pins on the PS5 one pin to the right
Genuine or not all HDMi ports are the same including the input ports on HDTVS.
@@AbdullaSulaimani we are talking about a ps5 not tvs buddy
hi, you are really good at your job. I would like to ask you for advice, I have a problem with a ps5. A customer brought me a ps5 with already broken electronics. Can you tell me what they are specifically or if there is a pattern to download? Thank you
Hdmi port really is the most abused port by user
And i really appreciate a clean job 👍
Great job. Better than factory! :)
Alex the reason your so good at your job is because your an artist a sculptor, maybe you were in a previous life!
Excellent, what is the value of the capacitor of the hdmi port?, thnx
Very good job 👏 👍 👌
Three Hiroshimas... You say that and I prepare my mind for the worst... Not so worst... Good results teach us to be patient and enjoy the work day by day. Thank for the video Alex. Btw.. my brain is intact so far lol
Nice repair once again! Really appreciate the knowledge you re sharing! One question for anyone that can answer:
How can someone rip so many pads by trying to remove the hdmi with hot air. Is it just force or there's something else like weak hot air or too much heat etc?
Thanks 😊
too much force/pressure. The thing about removing stuff that connected with solder is that if the component doesnt move just by pulling it, then you need more heat and you should never force it to come off.
Probably not heating it enough and trying to pull it by force. Same thing can happen if you try to remove it with a soldering iron, without flux and by reheating it too many times.
not enough flux can also be a cause but not even enough heat (half the solder is melted other isnt) or not doing the "bump" and gently lifting off
too much heat and force can cause pads to lift but these console boards actually have a very high heat tolerance so the pads don't lift easy, im guessing the person got impatient and brute forced the port off with a pliers or something because that solder does take a while to melt if you don't mix it
By using no microscope, you can ruine anything
Hey does AMTECH Flux work for automotive wiring soldering?
Solid moment at 7:16
what do you do to does hdmi connectors? i mean there are so many hdmi connector repairs i dont understand
Look so easy. Could you say what is the cost of the repair? I iknow, it's your work and you time. I am only curious. Thanks in advance!
Hey sir!
I'm the big fan from Pakistan. I just want to know witch kind of cleaner you use for motherboard cleaning??
A happy smile on the face of the master means that the repair was successful 😊
The "a few moments later" never felt less real, than when you have to wait for ps5 reassembly.
Good work. I've done a few console HDMI port and USB port replacements - PS4s, Xbox Ones, Switches. It's just time and practice. I've had to repair other people's work occasionally as well and I'm genuinely curious, how do people screw up these port jobs so badly? This seems to be a really common issue lately with people trying to replace these ports and ripping off a bunch of pads and traces in the process. I've ripped off pads before back when I was still learning SMT soldering, I'm not perfect, but if you tear off a pad, STOP. Don't continue ripping the rest of them off jesus....
This type of SMT work just takes practice and specific tools. If you want to learn, just get junk boards and practice...
Which hot air station are you used for rework sir pls reply sir
Very Nice
What hot air rework station do you use?
Thank you for a great video! What kind of camera/microscope do you use? Blue, and seen at 0:25. Where can I get one?
I am pretty sure everything he uses is linked in the video description.
@@--_DJ_-- I was blind, sorry. Thank you for pointing it out to me :)
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Salut, vous utiliser quoi comme flux de soudure?, merci.
When you use the air gun along with the wick and iron to remove solder from the leg holes on the board, is this to make sure what ever would be stuck in the hole, comes out? Like if half of the amount of solder would come out with the wick, it’ll just all get soaked from the wick? Like around @4:30 ?
You find the flux soaks into the joint. The wick provides capillary action which basically sucks everything out creating a nice clean point to solder.
@@zigbug1314 yes
I understand that. But what I’m asking is the hot air. I use flux and wick on a regular basis, however I’ve never tried using an air gun along with the wick/flux/iron.
He reflows like magic...
Alex, can you mention what alcohol you used, its way better cleaned than the one i used ethyl alcohol.
Use isopropyl alcohol on the board
91% isopropyl
Ethyl Alcohol ? Ethanol ?
Hell no Dude, ISO. Isopropyl Alcohol. Higher strength the better, Generally the 99.99% stuff.
nice Vedio ☮️👍
Qual fluxo vc usa
yes nice job well don
Not gonna lie that was amazing repair.
What microscope/camera are you using?
northridgefix.com/product/microscope-camera-bundle-1080-60fps-180x-lens-ring-adapter-2-barlow-lenses-0-5x-0-75x/
"ta-daaaa" my favorite part😁
How are you able to solder the mounting pins so easily? I keep struggling getting enough heat to get solder to flow properly there
Preheat the whole board?
Use a bigger tip. If your tip is too fine it won't transfer heat to the mounting pins
4:38 how many hands do you have?
Could you please show us how do you hold the wick, solder iron and hot air at the same time?
You don't hold wick. Just press it with iron against pcb.
@@valmiera9 thanks man
Please sir, make a video on how to read a schematic
Why it is allows the HDMI port
I have a simple question. What is he using to clean that dark yellow solder on his q-tip? Is it just isopropyl alcohol 99.9%?
Yes it's just cleaning alcohol
Ugh can someone please tell me where to buy that blue thermal putty on ps5 vrm and memory chips? It’s not thermal paste and it’s not a thermal pad. It feels like moldable putty.
great
We need a Northridgefix " Solid , Solid , Solid , Solid " T-shirt 👕 ...😎
I wonder how this happened so soon. Was he slamming that connector in there or something? Just crazy.
Possibly kids or it’s been knocked over and landed on the HDMI cable, or even been pulled with it plugged in.
I wondered the same
This ps5 hdmi diod are 5v or 12v ?
Big boss is a popular show name in India, with approx 22 seasons 😊
better than factory...👍
I wouldn’t trust anyone else to fix my stuff but this man and BIG BOSS lol
No low melt solder today? 😁
I see a bit of pearl harbour and Chernobyl in there too
nice
Amtech flux is the gold standard. Never gonna use another one again
My boss.. My love 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🥰🥰🥰
How do you not end up melting the plastic in the HDMI connector when you're reflowing with hot air?
That plastic is mostly bakelite or other heat resistant type. It is by design made to withstand some controlled amount of heat during the assembly process. The challenge is to control the heat exposure (by controlling temperature, air flow rate, distance, movement pattern, duration) to successfully melt and reflow the solder without melting the plastic. That's is the difference between experts like this Alex and noobs like us.
@@Wingedmechanic yeah they time travel back to 1955 to harvest the Bakelite 😂
Your followers from Algeria is very beautiful
Hi Alex, what type of cap do you use? Those caps are often missing. What are the values?
4:43
"That dye on top is just aching, to go to the ninth dimension"
what?
Diode!
Those PS5's are like gold. Haha. One must repair.
I am sure this mess was on purpose. By normal use you never end up like this.
I think it is more that someone without experience has tried to replace it themselves. Probably not realising it’s quite a specialist job that requires equipment and experience to go well.
