  • Here's 'must-have' accessory, especially if you have a bad battery or 2!! It allows you turn your battery into a USB PowerBank to charge other USB devices! Super cool...

Maybe you're getting those inevitable Battery Errors on your original MAVIC PRO batteries...or maybe it's just time to replace them because it's been 2+ years. Turns out there's a much better option than paying $100+ shipping/handing for DJI-branded replacement batteries. I found an alternative brand that gives you about 95% the runtime capacity of the DJI battery at about 50% the cost and they are functionally identical to the DJI versions. This is a completely unsponsored recommendation that I'm happy to make since these are working great for me (Yes, I purchased these with my own money - they were not given to me!). Check it out...

Seems the batteries I bought from Amazon vendor (FlyHi) are 'currently unavailable'. However, I did find the same batteries from an alternate vendor and they're currently on sale! : amzn.to/3lbGdv5

Liked and subbed. Just tried to charge my 6 lipo batteries from 18 months of storage and yep same problem with 5 of them. 1 actually charged ok. The other 5 just blink green 16 times then stop. Only used them all about 6 times each. All are DJI as well.

Got exactly the same experience with my DGI battery. After 19 uses in 2 years , it went in error. Even worse, a brand new DJI battery, probably stored for too long arrived dead from my supplier. These Lipo batteries are just not reliable.

I have had this problem with one of my batteries. Cycled it a heap of times and have had success in getting it going for one flight but it goes out of spec again quickly and too scared to use it. I attribute it to being left sitting as I do not use the drone every week. When this happens to them they are still a great power bank battery for charging a go pro or phone etc. with the power bank adaptor. So at least it still has a use.

Now that you have had them a few months how are they working out? I have been flying a Mavic Pro since July 2017 and I have had 6 DJI batteries die so an after market source at a lower price would be welcome. Thanks for the review.

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors

I had them just shy of 8 months and they continued to perform on par with the DJI batteries. I actually just recently sold all of my Mavic Pro gear to help fund an upgrade to the Mavic Air 2, so I can't really say how well they'd perform in a longer term scenario, but for the time I had them I saw no indications of any issues.

Oh wow! Yeah that would definitely shake my confidence. I fortunately never had any issues with the ones I bought for the year that I used them. I've since upgraded from the original Mavic Pro to the Air 2 and haven't seen 3rd party options for that model yet, but I'd be curious to know if anyone else has had a bad experience with these after market batteries.

I bought 2 of them from that same amazon source back in January 2021. They worked once. I didn't use them for about 6 months and went to use them again. Both of them were dead and wouldn't charge. They replaced them with 2 more. Those didn't charge at all right away. You can't buy them from DJI anymore so this drone is useless now. I will never buy another DJI drone if the manufucturer will not support them with batteries after a relatively short amount of time. I want to make a purchase and know that I can still use it 10 years from now.

  • @jasonmiller2570

Please be careful with 3rd party batts. To full compare and eval would require a battery strip down to inspect cells, components, etc. While DJI may be charging a premium - as do most OEMs, they often have higher quality control and use known reputable components.

You can still fly with these battery cell error's. It's just DJI's BSM battery management board sucks at balancing the cells. There are videos on it.
Anyway, to fly it, start the controller, then the app and then the drone last. Once it connects, as soon as it does, pull the sticks to take off, inwards, the drone will spin up and then you need to immediately push up to take off of the ground. Then you are good to go. I do all the time with mine as I am not buying another $100 battery when this one works fine. Make sure you are fast!
Video below on how to do it. It does work.

I bought 3 DJI batteries directly from them to avoid fake batteries and spent $285, but those batteries arrived dead, I couldn't charge them and nothing at all. Honestly, I don't really like this DJI company because they sell very expensively and things are not like one. think and look like things that alibaba sells and not quality things

This is most likely bad/poor cells in the battery.
    Dji using maybe cheap cells..
And cells have å hard life since they are used max charge to complete empty.
    That is killing cells.
They should be stored about 80%
Don't fly batteries totaly empty If you don't need to.
