now it may not fit in a black deck but if I had to name a card that's better than murder off the top of my head, I'd pick "Krenko, Mob Boss."

Hard disagree on Heartless Act. So many cards use counters now. I'd rather pay the extra mana than have a dead card in my hand.

I love remembering when this card was still like semi good removal for budget if you couldnt get heroes downfall as like the only real upgrade. Now, if its spot removal that isnt 2 mana or less, youre just handicapping yourself.

Replace every Murder in your deck with a Grave Titan instead

Some other options are Go for the Throat, or Doom Blade. Both two mana instants with some restrictions.

the problem is that most decks playing murder will also play the rest. singleton needs the great cards AND the LESS strictly betters sometimes.

It's called murder. I think outside of precons, that's a part of why people play it.

I really love eaten alive in aristocrats decks, 1 black mana and sacrifice a creature EXILE a creature or planes walker. Guess what I'm in aristocrats I wanted to sacrifice a creature anyway. And though not ideal I could also just pay 5 mana if I didn't have a creature to sacrifice so it isn't a dead card. It's a common that costs like 10 cents.

Heartless Act works great with removing Indestructible Counters. (Mondrak for example)

Hagra Mauling costing 4 is fine in Saruman, the White Hand. If you don’t need the land then it can Amass 4.

I don’t use Murder anyway, but either way there are a lot of even better alternatives for my Kuon deck specifically here. Some of them I just forgot about and some I can’t believe I didn’t consider them before.
