It's possible because fp2 humbly donates an extra 2 feet on hitboxes.
It also gives slightly bigger hitboxes on some moves, because sakurai wants us to suffer
@@robsquare2622 , in case you forgot when Sakurai talked about it. The reason it reaches further is cuz in Minecraft java, when a player swings the sword, it creates a small slash. So Sakurai added that same small sword slash on steves f smash. Be glad he didn't add the sword slash to his jab. Don't believe me? look at steve f smash closely, and you'll see it

Yea, the good steves have been optimizing since he came out, all that needs to be done is people optimize their game against steve so they dont lost to the war of optimization.
Most Steves can do tricks and set ups but their fundamentals are trash. If Steves improve their fundamentals then Steve will be a true menace.

ZSS can camp out Steve pretty effectively if she wants to. You see it with Japanese ZSS’s all the time. The problem is that Marss just doesn’t like that playstyle

@@joanheredia6302 It is with a time out. Get the percent lead and ZSS has the tools to simply prevent any interactions. She can prevent minecart follow ups using Zair, she has the speed to stay out of any of Steve's tools. Its kinda cringe but it works.

People cite Hero as the best Steve counterpick and what that entails is just the Hero player sitting through his menu to pick out the best spells. One character mining and one character scrolling for the right option in a dating sim doesn’t make for a great watch either.

At the standard 30 fps on youtube, for each frame we see, 2 pass in game. So that was probably a final frame 5 parry. Unless Marss always goes for the 1080p60 option on videos.

He would have to either jump over or short hop. Maybe he could sneak in a Flip Jump from here, but I still see the possibility of him getting caught by Bair. If Acola reads it.
Doesn't seem like a good idea, overall. You get to vulnerable afterwards it will come from above that is weird.
He did have better options, he should have attack the minecart with any aerials, specially bair or fair or just dash -> usmashed from below. Steve can jump out but only after 20ish frames, and minecart will break if it gets hit with that. People just fear too much contesting minecart. Steve is not invincible and anything with an hitbox that reaches him will do damage to him as well, while also doing dmg to the minecart and normally breaking it.
(I understand the fear comes from minecart being REALLY STRONG when it hits but attacking isn't that bad of an idea overall, also in most situations you can just jumo over and hit steves upper half to be completly safe)

Coming back to this, you should have just spammed Side B(unless he can punish with tether grab)since you complained he spams roll so you can grab. SIde B often covers roll and and even him trying to do a short hop mincart to punish you can get beat out.

Standing still underrated against Steve tbh. They thrive off of reacting/reading responses to cart and anvil. When you can show you're calm in those situations it makes them have to play more proactively and Steve isn't good at that.

I was playing a steve player yesterday in elite smash, and I was wondering how he got into elite smash, he looked as he didnt knew anything of the game, made me think how much it carries

The strat is hit n run and never approach if you have the advantage on the matchup and rush if the character has terrible reactions.
Also the noises is made because of one some guy winning a tournament most steves online won't do anything other than staying away ,using minecart,juggling fat characters and the usual smash attack.
I know dlc and all but why did the devs make wood tools do any damage? They should've designed steve so that he effectively HAS to at least get stone tools in order to do anything imo. It's just like playing minecraft: you only make a wood pick just so you can mine stone and make a stone pick

Bro steve (and in general dlc pack 2) ust makes the game look so much less interesting than it is. Before pack 2 the game was genuinely hype and insane to watch and now it's a point and click adventure, toucj to death, or camp for 7 minutes straight for any pack 2 matchup.
Dlc pack 2 means you can’t play 80% of the roster against them without being memed on. Imo they ruined the game for me, I just smh every time I find someone playing one.
I'm of the opinion that Steve, Kazuya, Aegis, are overtuned in general. But you're bugging if you think Steve is point and click. Every Steve player at the top level plays soooo differently. Super interesting character just needs hella nerfs

5:00 A better option could have been to simply full hop in place and zair rather than challenging forward. Because zair lingers and is a disjoint, you don't have to risk putting yourself near Steve when he's in this position, yet you're still putting a hitbox there. Another option is to run under him and punish with up smash, because it's also disjointed and Steve has to wait for the anvil to disappear before using it again. If Steve jumps off the dair earlier, he's likely to Minecart or go for an aerial, which you can easily contest with up smash. He'd have to avoid it by immediately using block in the air, and even then, if the up smash hits the block, it'll easily break it and possibly hit Steve because it's a multi hit. Also, Steve is eventually going to burn his iron, so it would be easier to try and catch him when he's got only 1 iron or less. This way, he's forced to either Minecart or dair in a juggle situation instead of being able to use both.
Important to look at: The order and distribution of resources Steve gets when he mines is determined by stage terrain. I'd recommend taking Steve to a stage where he mostly gets dirt because resources such as wood (which he gets on Smashville) are stronger and harder to break, which makes his camping better. Additionally, the stage size won't matter as Steve benefits from smaller blastzones because he kills way earlier, and his camping doesn't require him to have a huge amount of space, given that he can split the stage off using blocks. Battlefield gives you enough space to maneuver around his threat range, and offers protection from anvil due to the platforms. Additionally, it's a bit bigger than Smashville in terms of blastzones, so you'll live longer. Platforms will help you juggle and approach. It also takes longer on FD and all variants of Battlefield to get to iron, meaning that Steve gets anvils and Minecarts less. @Adam Yohan Ooh, look at Mr. Smartass over here. My guy, it hits Steve out of Minecart, allows ZSS to act before she lands on the ground, and can be drifted back with if you do it from a standing jump. Steve isn't fast enough to catch up to ZSS drifting back, and he can't use Minecart until it disappears, meaning that he can't punish the zair even if it does have 2 seconds of lag. Additionally, if he somehow doesn't get hit by the zair, he would still have to wait to delay Minecart in order to punish it. There's no guarantee that doing this would even work either because the cart would fall to the ground before reaching ZSS, who can double jump before landing on the ground after a full hop non-fast-fall zair. Even if Minecart does somehow punish ZSS for zairing, delaying the move is already a huge commitment because that opens up Steve to simply being air-to-aired or juggled again by ZSS. I've played ZSS since Smash 4, so I know how her moves work, and I did my own research and labbing with Steve, so I know how he works, too. Steve's Minecart takes 18 frames to come out. Because of that delay, if you simply keep juggling Steve after he burns Anvil, he can't Minecart fast enough to get out of the situation, which forces him to start airdodging - one of the last things you want to do against ZSS because of how good her falling aerials are. And I know that you're just going to argue back because you think you're right and don't want to let down an argument, but trust me - you clearly don't know enough to speak on the matter, so I'd advise just leaving it now before you embarrass yourself.

Think what you will about Steve but you have to give Acola credit. You don't pick up Steve and just start beating majority of NA top players. Yonni isn't so Acola has something the other Steves don't.

That outrageous parry into forward smash from Acola was probably EXTENDED by the crafting table in place because it's like a projectile but on the ground, and therefore you got punished for it

Zss is supposed to win this matchup more than snake. As far as I know snake camping isn’t that great because Steve just gets Diamond which makes snake want to go in more often than he wants to. Zss at least has the speed to get in it just sucks that Zss also dies in 2 interactions as opposed to snakes 2.5 interactions.
snake in general wouldn't do bad in this matchup, but i don't think marss' snake is polished enough

I think people mean he is too heavy for his combo game, not heavy in general. I've seen people complaining about Joker too, he's heavier than Sheik despite having pretty much the same frame data. Mythra is in a similar place as well.
