They add their own improvisations and spin to it that breathes new life into the songs. Like what they did with the very short boss lead up in super Metroid that’s like a 10 second loop of of music? My best friend in high school, Kevin and I would listen to Metroid Metal on a little Mac Mini G4 and I was blown away by their sound. It was my first introduction to the fact that Video Game Remixes existed and that they could be /good./ Well, I booked my flight to Magfest and I was SO stoked when I saw Metroid Metal was playing. Then I got really DISAPPOINTED that it was on THURSDAY because I booked my tickets for Friday-Sunday. I couldn't see this iconic band from my childhood... or so I thought. ...The universe had other plans. Living in California at the time, I drove to the Midwest (where I am currently based and where my family is from) for the holidays. On our drive back to California, me being two days away from my flight to Magfest, my wife's car broke down in Gallup, New Mexico. I'm not kidding. The middle of nowhere, but thankfully enough of a town to have options for her to trade in her vehicle (transmission problem) and get a new one. In the meantime, I was crying thinking I was going to miss my first Magfest, but she encouraged me to still try to go. I booked a last minute flight out of Albuquerque... and the best part? I GOT TO MAGFEST A DAY EARLY AND I COULD SEE METROID METAL! During this set, I was standing in the back left-hand corner of the crowd, facetiming Kevin the entire time and crying. It was a beautiful moment. A couple months later, I saw Stemage on a twitter thread, DM'd him and told him the story about Kevin and the whole ordeal with the car breakdown and how serendipitous it all was. We ended up meeting each other in person at VGM Con in Minnesota this year. We hugged and laughed and took some really stupid pictures together haha. It was another Beautiful moment. The Video Game Music scene is a really, really, really special group of people, fans and creators alike. I have never met such an outstanding group of people in my entire life and I am here to stay indefinitely. Peace and love to all, and I hope that your dreams will also come true as mine did. But don't be surprised if it takes a decade 😘

First time I ever heard Lower Norfair was on a mod for Guitar Hero. That song was fantastic. This live version is just, so much better than I hoped it would be. Fucking metal 🤘
Good to know theyre still alive, this band is fucking amazing! I love the creativity on the arrangements, and the songs are complex as shit, lots of changes in tempo and beat, it would take months of chart transcribing and practicing to play this, its hard to even count lol
