    - Garrison: best known runner
    - Zoast: world record holder
    - Krauser: most impressive trick gets most audience applause
    - Ivan: wins

salozmen29 I didn't say a thing about Ivan except that he won the race. Every runner left with an accolade whether or not they had it before. Garrison and Zoast were much better known walking into this competition and were considered the best two runners, so the fact that Krauser was the runner who blew the audiences' mind and Ivan was the one to hit the ship first meant that it was the most exciting race anybody had ever seen. Does that clear up whatever confusion you had?

krauser has so much heart. he was behind for a majority of the race but he kept his head in the game and that giant metroid dodge was the most hype thing

The crazy thing is that this run is only so good because of ALL the drama going on...Garrison gets emotional from fucking up and dying...Krauser gets the Super Metroid skip to make it close...Ivan and Zoast are essentially screen for screen for A WHILE NEAR THE FUCKING END OF A 45 MIN RUN...I mean, yea, add that all together, and this is superb

EnigmaHood Racing is not like normal sports. Most running/racing communities are much like the gaming community in that they want to see others do well also. Think of marathon runners or complicated races like steeplechase. These guys will practice with opponents and even pace with their opponent and then congratulate them after a good race.
There are also the people who want to see others fail in the gaming community, mainly in shoot'em up games, like CoD, or really any competitive PvP; these guys are PvE.

    • @Zsaver3
      @Zsaver3 7 лет назад +7

That's also true... he's referring to mainly the fans.... who primarily look only at their own team. The players all usually have at least a fair bit of respect for each other. It's mainly the fans, who don't necessarily always appreciate the real challenge a sport or competition holds, that prefer to see only their side succeed.

I'd love to see a moment in a competitive speed run where someone accidentally discovers an neverbefore seen glitch or accidentally mashes their buttons in a way that does something new that no one has ever tried, the look on the player's face of disbelief where they're like "WTF??? HOW DID I DO THAT???" would be hilarious.

I've been playing this game since it came out when I was 5 years old. My original goal for this game was to be able to beat it fast enough to see Samus without her suit. I achieved it when I was around 8 or 9 years old. Eventually in my early teens I got my friend into the game, who destroyed me time wise. So I found a reason to play the game again to sharpen my rusted skills. I went from being able to beat the game in 1 hour 38 mins to beating it in 58mins. It's nowhere near the time these guys have. I'm just glad the spirit of the game and the competition lives on.

This run was definitely the highlight of the whole marathon, and really proved that the guys at AGDQ know how to put on a fantastic show. The tricks, the techniques, the commentary, the crowd, etc. were all practically perfect and it was a wonderful thing to watch (I've seen it about 4 times now!).
The only problem that has arisen from this is that they'll need to work their arses off to top this at an SGDQ or AGDQ in the future!

  • @BloodPlusPwn

This shit is so fun. They're all fantastic runners. It's a shame Garrison didn't have the favor of the RNGods.

I still watch this race from time to time. Metroid side-scroller games are my favorites because of the role Samus has to play. She takes on a dangerous mission that could leave her dead and alone on an alien planet, but she prevails and quietly saves the galaxy. It's great to see gamers perfect the runs. The drama of seeing your favorite speed runner take and lose the lead is better than most movies today!

After watching so many AGDQ videos, this is by far THE BEST race I had the pleasure of investing my time on.So much skill and so much talent was demonstrated and only having just 3 energy tanks to beat the game is a accomplishment in itself considering the games difficulty. All of the players performed brilliantly and it's a shame for Garrison because I know deep down he felt like the victory cheer was for the winners who finished and he must of felt left out since he did not finish, but that's to be expected for when this speed run was targeted like a competition but never the less this awesome spectacle is for those people who are battling cancer and to me they are awesome people that needs treatment so help with the cause and support AGDQ in their endeavour to put a stop to cancer.

This was very impressive. I was rooting for Zoast, due to his 100% speed run, but I was very impressed that Ivan did a great job, and then Zoast's triumph with Spore Spawn was wonderful to see, though again, Ivan did a great job.

Even after 6 years, this is still the best Super Metroid speed run I have seen.

To this day this is STILL the BEST GDQ race IMO. Everyone brought their A game. Yes even Garrison who kept getting screwed by RNG.

That was the best SM race I have ever seen. Absolutely wonderful job on all the runs. It's too bad there was a death but, oh well. That's SM speed running for ya.

I would never play any game at that level of precision. Props and applause at the gamers. Was overall crazy.

That commentary was amazing. Why is that not on all of the speedruns? Seriously.

It took about a year for me to complete the game the first time, so I'm right on track to becoming a speed runner if I work on it.

Of course if you are just doing a normal playthrough then most people would save them.

Just a fun thing I noticed. Do to the parallax in the game and the slight differences in play, you can view this in 3D by crossing your eyes. Only really good if there is barely any separation in their runs.

Insane.... This game is pretty big, and they finish in less than a second from each other. Mindblowing.

Aw poor Zoasty, I was hoping he would win... Still, Ivan had an amazing run, so Kudos for him! (What an incredibly close race too, it's not every day you can see something like this!)
