"it's all clear" turns flashlight on. WOW! thats friggen CLEAR
Missed you, you are my stress relief for everything that is happening now in Jakarta and all over Indonesia. Thanks again!
Isn’t it wonderful how something so pure and wholesome (this channel) can truly make a difference in your day? Good luck to you, Jamie.
Never get tired watching you! That’s for sure!
That big flagstone piece was a really good teaching aid because I knew nothing about colour glints from cracks and that showed it so well especially the bit when the fragment popped out x
Glad that helped :-)
I loved the little oval blue magnifying stone. Gorgeous. Thank you enjoyed watching this.
Wasn't that one simply amazing?
@@lorenrobertson8039 Yes, if only I had the money to buy it.
Justin, you do realise that we're not ACTUALLY there don't you, and you are still talking to yourself!! Hahaha!
I love watching you cut these stones. What I like most is that even you don't really know what's going to happen when you turn the wheel on. It adds to the suspense and gives a real air of jeopardy! Keep up the good work, mate!
Lol 😂
The sunflash flagstone opal should be named "Dark Lightning". Looks like colourful lightning inside a black storm cloud! ~ Stoked on the left coast of Canada
Hello Mr. Justin. I've been watching you cut these stones for a few months now. I'm glad I have. I had no idea opal was so valuable and the colors are amazing. I will be adding opal to my jewelry selection from now on. Now I know what to look for and questions to ask to get a bonafide quality opal. Thank you so much and keep up the wonderful work. Enjoying every moment of your expertise and wonderfully colorful personality.
Just buy from someone trustworthy and been around a long time and they will look after you
Oh man I just missed the live
that little gem, the first stone... so beautiful!
Some awsome stones there Justin . Thank u for sharing it all with us #
we also say stoked in south africa, if you think about it, means "fired up" like stoking a fire
YES 😊😊😊🙏
Just to let you know, we absolutely use the terms "stoked" and "sketchy" here in America. Terms that are more Aussie would be "fairdinkum" and "chock 'o' block." I have no clue what they mean, but Crocodile Steve forever put them in my vocabulary lol. Australian town names are so colorful, just like opal. I've sat and laughed for hours before reading off your town names.
Another great video! I love the triangle.
loved those gems. Some real corkers. Can't wait to see them finished and polished. Thanks, Justin.
Another wonderful day while watching your live Justin all the way here in Phillipines. Love lots to your channel!
Those were some lovely opals, love the first one with the colours that seem suspended in the crystal opal. Thanks Justin, see you Thursday
Woo hoo another Justin masterpiece. Thank you for these. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Needed this today. Nice work as always. Lovely opals😊
Thanks for the adventure of discovery with you. They all lite up. Look forward to the next video.
Hi Justin, yes “stoked” in USA especially in California!
Love watching you cut opals!
Each piece is a surprise ❤️
The quality of your cuts are so fantastic! You are very intuitive with the opals.
Thank you Alana
Stoked to see these cuts, some nice stones today! Little bit of sand but that's how it goes sometimes. Thanks for sharing!
I also missed you but looking now. I'm from Belgium and when you go live during the day it's night for us here. Recently bought very nice boulder opal from Australia but it takes a long time to reach in Belgium. I also love black opal and say your beautiful website. I've been looking at i guess almost all your video's. So relaxing to see you work on opals. Love what you do so please keep on cutting these beauty's into amazing gems.
Beautiful stones and works as always...
I love watching your art. You always make my day shine😁
I'm so glad!
Wow justin, as a whole, this live episode is a good example of some serious variability found in this stuff!
True that
As always another great show!
Glad you enjoyed it!

We are enjoying watching these videos! We are currently in Coober Pedy (on holiday from Vic) and this is the cherry on the top of our mine tour today :-)

13:46, that stone is GORGEOUS! love it great work!
Also Hello from Nebraska, USA!
wow...love them all..so pretty 🤩
That sunflash-flagstone one is a real witchy-poo stone. All mysterious beauty and unpredictable.
that stone could be cut into the shape of south america or africa
I like that stone really mysterious
Hi David from Australia enjoy your show😀
One for the algorithm, another great video Justin. :)
This deserves , a coffoe moment, it’s that good!
Just a thought. Video every stone that you sell, and talk through it like you do here. Include the recording when selling the peice. I think it gives each gem a story rather than just another thing from the jewelry store. ( simple stored on a small memory chip) I absolutely enjoy what you do.
That's it. I'm moving to Australia!
Much Love From Swan Hill
Hello from TnT in Washington state!
Could you cut some good faded fire opal for examples of what it would look like shaped as as good large stone. Really enjoy the dome shaped stones. Great commentary as you polish the stones Could you also take a large potch stone and polish it to show the method of producing a nice shaped domed stone. Won’t be much but your marvelous ability could show a great black potch stone
Thanks I needed my opal fix
Came out better, good job
I like it a lot
Here from Ottawa Canada...
Very kind man thanks.
Greetings from New Zealand
Very good opal consultant.
I'm korean. South!
Justin, would LOVE to hear more about why you don't facet opal, first time I've heard that, but have definitely not seen any Australian opal faceted- only Ethiopian. It would be great to hear about the WHY of those two types of opal and the decisions about faceteing opal material. THANK YOU for what you're doing!
Days of our lives 😂❤️💙🧡💛
I loved this kind of stones and a friend of mine went to Africa and brought a large quantity of them and the sizes are large, up to 1450 grams.
hi justin thanks for your hard work, this video for me is like avengers 2023 for marvel fans.😁😁❤️❤️
A bit too much and too long commercials, Justin.
But anyway: This Channel became one of my fovorites over the last 2 years.
Keep on grinding in and thank you for so much hours of me, fascinated watching your craftsmanship ❤️
It might have been Bruce Brown "Endless Summer", in the early 1960s, an American surfer that brought the word "stoked" to Australia.
Hey , just starting in St. Louis, Misty
Mmmm, yummy some nice looking candy you got there! Enjoying watching you do this!
Hi from Wenatchee,WA
I forget sometimes its winter down there when its summer up here. I play ps4 with guys from AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 they said its freezing cold down there. Stay warm my friend :)
Wow Way Cool 😎👍
Up cutting early this morning!
Justin, amazing stones and as always great info and a job well done. I have a question; What ,in your opinion is the thinnest a stone can be cut and still be a solid and usable for a piece of jewelry ?
Oh I hope we can see the clean up of that last stone on the blue side. That blue looked like sapphire!! Wonder if there is a star buried in there somewhere!
The clear color mixed with that metallic purple and green I like had one like that one he also almost gave away his secret fish taco place and then he caught himself by thinking if he wasn't thinking sure that spot would get blown up lol
100+ in central Florida usa.
Tacos? Yes please! I live Arizona so I'm quite spoiled in my choices for tacos.
Oh yes you are in Tucson has the best Mexican restaurants. The little one is my fave
Me too.little baby color bar
:D Awesome!
What is cold in Australia? 10C? Makes me giggle when we have to deal with -29C once in a while. Great upload! Cheers mate!
lol yes it 15 😂
4.30 am Scotland
You do some great Work Hey?
If worse comes to worst with that sand ring stone you can always take the back off to get rid of the sand and salvage a crystal stone out of it.
You should be super stoked.
Patrick McGovern Boston USA
Super Stoked? In Boston ??? You mean Wicked Stoked ...
@@jamiemorgan4146 wicked super fn stoked. 😂
91 and humid here today.
I`ll say Nock me out with Opal, Justin Opals😂 Thank You for sharing Boss👍👍👍
Btw, I asked an electrician today if I can use 240 Volts in Norway. And he said it's okay. It is approved with 7% upwards and 10% downwards. We have 220Volt in Norway. So then I can buy a Gemmasta 😁👍👍👍😁
Yes you can in Europe but try and get the sellers to ship to you is a different issue altogether
We say “stoked” in America as well. 😁
goin in like NOW
That 🔺 triangle WOW
Looking amazing so far Justin, how much was the parcel mate?
Resolution on playback is only at 720
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Also missed the live watching at 921 eastern time, starting good Kevin from beaconsfield 😊🌏
Yeah sorry my bad I made a mistake
👍
👍👍👍🤗
Love them opals! Good fishing vids @deermeatfordinner.
I guess the red colour in the stone is due to the presence of Vanadium.... and red imparts a beautiful colour to a black opal.....
The red is just the size of the silica spheres
@@blackopaldirect I am a PhD in chemistry from Oxford university, so the element that gives this red colour to the silica is Vanadium and other colours are different elements contributing to the opal.... I can give you a list of the elements that nature combines in an opal, that's why it's so unique.... 👍☺
36:44 @Black Opal Direct try to go deeper on the polishing wheel, it looks kinda like script/chevron patterns IMO..also when you shine the light through it it looks like you may have enough potch between the 2 color bars to slice it!..the dark blue side may end up with little to no potch but its worth a shot! Might end up with a couple nice lil gems you didnt expect!
Worst case ya end up with 2 more stones in the jar, and seeing as that ones already headed there it couldn't hurt to try and pull something from it
I noticed that too!
Why can't you cut the cracked stone and make two stones? so sad :( Fantastic crystal and other stones. Thank you for sharing it all with us! Love and blessings to you and yours Justin!
Justin if you come to Vancouver Island ( Shawnigan Lake) I would be stoked to to make you guys all the fish tacos you can eat!
We could use everybody prayers because we are in hard after 150 F heat dome... we are not used to that. 800 dead, our hospitals are over full of dieing people... now we are burning up with forest fires.
Yes I heard that you have a heatwave. I am sorry to hear
@Randy M I'm in Langford also. Have to admit the 40C heat was like breathing oven. Hurray to black opals, and Black Opals Direct.
Love love love THIS.
Thank you for answering my Mom loves videos and I. Thank you so much for sharing...

I have a beautiful lightning ridge opal doublet set in a bevel ring. It has lots of rich blue and a lot of red. I had a bad fall and now I can see a line down the middle of the opal. I don’t think it was there before but not sure. It’s still very beautiful but if it’s cracked could I be at risk of losing the stone out of the setting?
Yes you could. Sorry this happened
Hi, I have 40 bottles of baby food jars with "rough opals" in them. they were from a friend's and after watching many of your videos I would like to see what is in them. Many have a lot of sand on the outside with a small flash of something. Now I need to buy equipment. I have a pottery wheel and I have seen a diamond polishing disc that can be purchased in different grades. Any thoughts?
ALOHA, Justin, and Melinda!
So, I have cut, rubbed, and polished a small parcel of rough recently. When I was at a fellow lapidarian's house, I went ahead, and shined a blacklight on em, just out of curiosity.
They flouresce for certain, which I expected. What I did not expect, was that in a dark room, I'd shine the black light on them, and they would flouresce, but I'd turn off the blacklight with the lights still off, and the stones continued to flouresce for between 10-15 seconds. What causes that?
Some do and some don’t
@@blackopaldirect I'm wondering what causes it. Can't find any specifics on Google. Been asking EVERYONE, and can't get an answer. It's like asking how much an opal is worth.
