    I have had two of these now and they are brilliant cars , ignore the little quirks these will make you smile and are highly tuneable and the engine is pretty bombproof. Good review though 👍🏻

    Great review, I have an older 2011 500 Essseesse with the firmer suspension and find it much better than I thought on a long trip. The other day did a 400km trip, about 3 equal legs, with no problem. Took it on a long road trip, 3000km, the length of New Zealand where the longest leg was 700km with just short snack and refuel stops. Maybe it helps that in NZ long trips are mostly two-lane often twisty highway, not motorway cruising, so the fun part still comes into play!

    One of my first cars was a Renault 5 turbo, I was about 22. 1400cc turbo car was light and fast. Great around town. With no speed cameras either. Anyway a good one can cost around 25k. Out of my price range for some nostalgia. Hence I’m thinking about buying one of these for around the 10k mark, second hand as it would be a second city car. They look like great fun. I know they would be a great drive around an old Italian city. These cars are made for this sort of driving. If you have one Piacenza to Milan is a must..👍🏾

      Sounds like a worthy car to take you back to the days of the 5 turbo. It’s great fun to zip around in. Hope you enjoy and thanks for sharing!

    I've got a 595 Competizione from 2015, stage one tuned with the Akrapovič exhaust. Because it's an older model, it was pre-facelift, so I had the new facelifted bumpers installed. Custom lights, custom wrap and 17" Esseesse rims. It's my first car, I worked multiple jobs to get it at 18. I'm happy with it. It's fun, it's fast. Good brakes, easy to drive (fast). But it has some downsides. I daily drive it, got the MTA 'automatic'. It's better than what people give it credit for. It shifts fine in its own, but in sportmode manual mode is really needed. The seats are great, I'm 5'10 and I fit perfectly and I love the feeling. I've driven my parents cars before this, and on sporty drives in my mom's Mercedes I'd slide around the seats. In my Abarth, I'm perfectly fine in my seat and don't move around at all. They are firm, and I love the bucket seats. But what I don't like, is the steering wheel position. You can't move it towards you, so you're forced to sit close to the steering wheel. And that makes your feet uncomfortable. I'm gonna get a steering wheel spacer for that. The suspension is horrible, very, very, very firm. Hit a bump today and it literally feels like the car is breaking down for half a second. But it's part of the sporty experience. I am in love with the car, the pros outweigh the cons for me. It's genuinely fast when you want it to be, it's an alright daily but the sound and the looks make it for me. Anytime I drive through towns, I get people that look at the car. It's probably because it sounds like there is a supercar approaching. So short answer, it's a car that has it's flaws, but it's fun as hell and I'd recommend it to anyone!

    If only you could hear my akropovic next to the monza think a lot of people would wanna race them both just to experience the thrill of it out of all the hot hatches I’ve had the Abarth will always be first especially after putting an induction in the turbo flutter just give you the racing car experience so much better will never get old

    I had four of the standard ones and would have loved a Comp!
    I'd be driving one now, but its just too small for our needs these days
    Baring in mind what its based on, they're great little cars, fun, people talk to you about it.
    Yes, other cars are more capable, but you won't be bored

      Definitely a niche car but a very fun one! I wouldn't enjoy it for my daily driving but I had great fun borrowing it!

    Hardly the point, but having had 500s as holiday rentals, you can get one 20-26kg size suitcase in, although it has to be tilted to clear the boot lid lol.

    Great review. I am interested in one but think I’ll regret selling my mk3 focus st3. Especially heated seats and windscreen

      Will definitely be far less comfortable day to day even though its fun. I'd personally stick with what you have if its a daily driver!

    I want something like a 205gti/106gti, but new...
    Is the Abarth Comp the nearest I'll get to the peugeots? Along with the Up, these must be the lightest hot hatch

    • @ItsDanLatham
      @ItsDanLatham  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah this is definitely more of an oldschool hot hatch vibe. Even the top end picanto with the turbo engine is pretty good. The abarth is a lot more hardcore, firm, loud and lots of turbo! Up GTi is a good shout, or fiesta ST if you want something like the abarth but comfier and better handling

    • @dschubi7077
      @dschubi7077 23 дня назад

      @@ItsDanLatham Abarth or Fiesta ST. VW UP GTI are not the same League. The Up is not particularly sporty. It's got a few more horsepower and its GTI seats...Wow.
      I would probably put the Fiesta ST above the Abarth in terms of cornering speeds and level. On the other hand, the Abarth has more of an old-school turbo and has a brutal sound for a 1.4 L engine (by the way, this comes from the former Italian Formula 4)

    • @ItsDanLatham
      @ItsDanLatham  23 дня назад

      @ abarth is more of an event and feels special, fiesta is easier to live with and nicer to drive

    I always find myself looking for reviews of this car, and I even sat in one as a passenger and said that I would buy one but here where I live are so rare that I believe there are more Ferrari 488’s than Abarth’s and I don’t want to spend around 20k USD on one.

    Ive only got a 1.4 non turbo 500 and that is quick enough for me 125mph if you push it hard and 0-60 around 9 seconds , I could not own an Abarth as the 6 second 0-60 time would kill me , Im not a good driver lol

      you can drive without Sport-Mode. Thats similar to a normal Fiat 500. Really!
      In sport mode the thing only becomes a predator :P

    This is not the best review. An Abarth is a special model car based off a famous race car, so obviously this is not a standard commute car. I think the best example of what this car is, is something you did unknowingly... You perked up with laughter each time you got on the gas, and that's a true example of what this car is: fun and fuck
