    A few tips for people having problems. Firstly I’d recommend you get a new USB cable. Those really old printer cables might be be on older USB protocol. Secondly, on a Mac make sure you’ve got Katana selected as your input device in sound preferences. Thirdly, go into tone studio and open “system” then “USB” and max the output to 200%. Apparently this is necessary. Third, you only have to have the input device as katana in your daw. Output to wherever you want, but be sure to have it set to “INPUT 1+2” because I’ve heard it sends multiple channels for fx. Try all that and if still doesn’t work then beats me! Lol

    • @SeemsLikeSomething
      @SeemsLikeSomething Год назад

      @@isolatedmortalityband5718 what I was saying there would just be for when you plug the katana in directly with usb. If you have an interface then you could try possibly using the record/phones out or line out to an input on the interface and then the interface input volumes would have some control over the in levels. Not sure if that’s really the best way to do that tho. Think either going straight in or mic’ing the amp would be more ideal

    I'm a proud owner of a Boss Katana MKII 2x12 amp..I connect my android phone directly into the USB port using an OTG chord and USB attachment..I also use an app called Katana Librarian.
    A lot of Boss Katana owners are unaware that you can actually hook your android phone directly into any Katana series amp. I have seen a couple of RUclips videos stating that "you can't use a phone you need a pc in order to fully utilize your Katana amp"..not true....All you need is an OTG (on the go )cable with a USB attachment..I purchased one from Walmart for under 20 bucks.. its self winding and comes with 4 different input heads including the USB input..Why lug around a laptop or have to hook up to a PC when all you need to do is buy this simple chord?
    Your probably thinking the Boss Tone Studio on PC has better options...well you would be wrong..the Katana Librarian App has everything the Boss Tone Studio has and *more* ..yup that's right you get everything BTS has to offer plus you get extra options that are only available using the Katana Librarian app and like I said b4 you don't have to lug around a laptop or take time hooking up to a PC.I do not work for Boss Katana and have no affiliation with them..the same goes for the Katana Librarian app...I'm just a guy that loves playing guitar and creating songs.
    If you hook up using this method then make sure you go to Katana/GuitarPatches.com...you can download all the free guitar patches you want and change them on the fly using your phone,its so easy and convenient...its like having a Katana amp with unlimited storage channels instead of the 4 to 8 channels (depending on your amp model)you get...there are thousands of patches to choose from or create your own and upload it so others can enjoy your creation....I just can't say enough about how good this phone and amp connection is..it's a godsend for those that play in a band..If you don't own an Android phone then just pick up a cheap one from walmart or target ($30/$50) ..you can also use an IPad.🤘

      Ok so this answer is about 11 months too late, but I thought I would mention it here for anyone else who is asking the same question: The Boss Katana outputs 2 different signals over USB, one "DI" and one post-FX and processing. These settings show up readily using Audacity, Boss Katana 100-head, and the latest firmware version (3.x). What I don't know is why he only showed 1 channel coming from the Katana in the video; is that a limitation of Ableton, the Katana-50, or the older firmware version?

    • @PhilipHawthorne
      @PhilipHawthorne 5 лет назад +3

      @@ERWebster On Windows the DI output is called 'Secondary' (1 and 2 = L + R Stereo channels) and the post-effects output is 'Primary' (1 and 2 = L+R Channels). On a Mac they are called Input/Output 3,4 and Input 1,2/Stereo Out 1,2 respectively. The Katana User manual gives this info on Page 10 in the block diagram.

      @@Corpsegrinder138 I don't use ableton when i record my katana through USB, but i use Audacity and i noticed that the level of recording is really low. The "wave" form is almost just i line. But i can put the output level up by increasing the tracks volume. Hope this helps you guys. My opinion is that the USB recording in boss katana sucks ass. Gotta have to buy mixer and mic to record it properly.

      You may want to take the laptop/computer to a computer place to check the USB. I had trouble with my school computer connecting to my phone and the school said it was an easy USB swap to fix it. Apparently computer USBs according to them can get like partially fried where they dont recognize certain things, in my case my phone. I'm not a computer genius, so i could definitely be wrong.

      Same here. Only way is to 'Normalize' the recording in your DAW afterwards. Basically amplifying it. That works fine for me in Audacity.
      I dont know why USB recording does it. I have a Marantz USB condenser mic, same thing. Annoying but I guess a drawback compared to more expensive recording options.
