James Best was an excellent actor! I was a kid and didn't realize he had done so much prior to Dukes, but enjoyed recognizing him in old Westerns I watched with my grandpa. He made a new Killer Shrews movie I want to see but can't find.
@@littlejoe9381 Now THAT was shocking to me. Rosco was "bad" but had a heart and was funny. To see James Best play truly bad characters with no redeeming qualities was really weird to me. Turns out that's the type of characters he played for many years. He was indeed a good actor because he apparently was a very sweet man. I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet him.

Grew up on the Duke's of hazard one of the highlights of my life was in Conway Arkansas a few years ago and just briefly got to meet you and have you autograph a Confederate flag shirt and shake your hand before you had to leave a little early but still one of the best times of my life getting to meet you and see the general Lee
"Possum on a gum bush", I can vividly remember watching that episode and recording it on audio tape because of the time we couldn't afford a VHS recorder. Great episode, I think I cried thinking Bo and Luke actually died in the pond.... I was a kid ☺. Thanks for the Insight John ✌.
I met you briefly in the late 80s or early 90s . I was night clerk at the Chinook Motor inn , Chinook MT. You were in an late 60s green station wagon towing a flat bed and a 70s Harley . It was daylight savings and i reminded you and your buddy to set your clock lol

Good Morning John! You make my day with these videos! I’ve mentioned that I have been watching the DVDs of the DOH show and it’s been bringing back so many wonderful childhood memories. My sisters, brother and I used to watch it together. It was a show that our parents didn’t have any issues letting us watch! We even had CBs back then and used to have a great time talking as we went back and forth from home to our cabin. I always wished that I was older so that I could have a vehicle and a CB of my own. I’m the youngest of seven and there’s 17 years between my oldest sister and I, yet we still had the love for the show in common! Thank you John for taking the time for us fans! I have the complete series and my little girl has been watching since she was born and she is almost 8!! Great family show great family people and awesome memories!!!! @@pws3rd170 nope! The second unit director Paul Baxley likes how fit and able the guys were so they studied him and he taught them the art of movie fighting....so they could film the fights close up! It's in the bonus features on the DVD'S

The Ghost of General Lee was an amazing display of acting talent by James Best... I don't know if he won an Oscar for it but he sure should have... I've seen that episode a Gazillion times, and I still tear up with Rosco's performance... He made ya feel like it really happened that the General Lee went into the pond and noone came up... And then he had to tell Uncle Jessie... And then the smile on his face when he finally figured out the Duke boys were still alive... I think I tear up more now than I did when it first aired...But, I was a kid then...If I was the one passing out Oscar's, he would have got one...

I loved that episode so much as a kid, years later there was a place called Auto World in South Bend Indiana and I bought a Glowing General Lee Model Kit still have it. Put it on top of a lamp for awhile and turn the lights out and the General Comes to life Lol 😂

That scene where James Best tells Denver Pyle that the boys had “drowned”; that acting of those two veterans gives me chills to this day. And as far as the rattlesnake? For forty years I’ve rationalized how that was done. My aunt laughed and said “There’s no way that was a real snake!” Wrong?!?!? I got the willies just learning that it was, and that those were indeed your legs. What the...wow!

The one thing that I would like to share with everyone... And not to stir up a hornet's nest... Is you can't rewrite history. I really feel that one of our most iconic movie cars, the General Lee, owes nobody an apology. Im so sick and tired of people, close minded, trying to rewrite history books. The Confederate flag is a symbol of "the south" and I'm not sure at what point it became something different. As a 4 year Veteran of the United States Marine Corps I am really, extremely dissapointed with our acting commandant when it comes to his views on what can be displayed in a barracks. This is a great country... History is history. Learn from it... Don't change it. As a New Englander growing up watching the Dukes of Hazard, and that proud car that represents America, I loved what it stood for. You can't change the Civil War... It happened! Yes, there was a Jesse James. Yes, there was a wounded knee... And a Gold Rush... Sitting Bull yes he really existed! Our history since 1776, wether good or bad, no Irish need apply, is our history. So for all you do-gooders out there that just want to pretend like our history didn't happen to make yourselves feel good... Just stop. Side note... Look up General Lees autobiography. I got a good question for you about the Dukes. Why did Daisy's Roadrunner change from a 73-74 model to a 71-72? Also why did production choose the Jeep as opposed to the Roadrunner? I personally loved the Roadrunner more than the Jeep. It was basically the "back up" muscle car for Bo and Luke.

The Confederate flag is a symbol of "the south" and I'm not sure at what point it became something different. As a 4 year Veteran of the United States Marine Corps I am really, extremely dissapointed with our acting commandant when it comes to his views on what can be displayed in a barracks. This is a great country... History is history. Learn from it... Don't change it. As a New Englander growing up watching the Dukes of Hazard, and that proud car that represents America, I loved what it stood for. You can't change the Civil War... It happened! Yes, there was a Jesse James. Yes, there was a wounded knee... And a Gold Rush... Sitting Bull yes he really existed! Our history since 1776, wether good or bad, no Irish need apply, is our history. So for all you do-gooders out there that just want to pretend like our history didn't happen to make yourselves feel good... Just stop. Side note... Look up General Lees autobiography. I'm tired of the judgemental agenda. #GeneralLee1969

Hi John this is not a question about the Dukes of Hazard but I loved you in that show my question is what did you think about Elvis Presley did you ever like him or like his singing. I got a good question for you about the Dukes. Why did Daisy's Roadrunner change from a 73-74 model to a 71-72? Also why did production choose the Jeep as opposed to the Roadrunner? I personally loved the Roadrunner more than the Jeep. It was basically the "back up" muscle car for Bo and Luke.
A girl's gotta have a Jeep and a muscle car! We need both, one to play in mud and run offroad and one to hammer down on!
