I've passed those streets several times and it seems like you were also close to a latino community (a few blocks away). The problem with Chicago is how everyone has just discriminated themselves from everyone and discriminating others at the same time. The Caucasian people live up North while the African Americans and us Latinos have just stayed in the south. When someone new arrives, they get the feeling that theyre not wanted. An Asian family moved into my block a few weeks back and immediately all my neighbors were talking bad about them. Everyone basically ignored them. Its sad really.

I am a white man who was married to a black woman from Chicago's west side. She went to Westinghouse HS with Mark Aguirre (A real nice guy she said). I have been to neighborhoods like this and I just want to say that the vast majority of the folks who live in the 'hood a perfectly nice, normal persons who are NOT in gangs, are NOT criminals, and NOT a threat to anyone. I've passed those streets several times and it seems like you were also close to a latino community (a few blocks away). The problem with Chicago is how everyone has just discriminated themselves from everyone and discriminating others at the same time. The Caucasian people live up North while the African Americans and us Latinos have just stayed in the south. When someone new arrives, they get the feeling that theyre not wanted. An Asian family moved into my block a few weeks back and immediately all my neighbors were talking bad about them. Everyone basically ignored them. Its sad really.
