yeah Ventura Highway is their best IMO. Make sure you do the original version NOT the re-engineered one from around 2000 because they put too much reverb in it and ruined the vibe of the song.
No Doubt. 'Ventura Highway" provides such a wonderful visual. I've never traveled on Ventura Highway but the song puts me in a state that I can see myself driving down it on a beautiful sunny day!!!
"Ventura Highway" or "Sister Golden Hair" are two more great America songs like this, pure bliss. "Right Before Your Eyes" is a favorite of mine from 80's America, similar vibe of course.
For his last job, my father was a crew supervisor on the third shift (11 PM to 7 AM) at a lumber processing plant. Most of the employees that he supervised were around my age range at the time (just out of high school to early 20s). One of the ways that he would bond with his crew was he would play music he liked and, in turn, they would play different genres or more recent music that they liked. The one song that they all loved, initially presented by my father, was "Sister Golden Hair" by America. As a joke, one of my father's crew hooked up a CD player to the factory's PA system. He played the song on repeat for a good 30 to 45 minutes. As it was in the wee hours of the night/morning (so no bosses were there besides my father and perhaps one other crew supervisor), everyone loved it playing over the PA system throughout the entire factory. It became the tradition that at one point in the night that my father and his crew were working, someone had to fire up the CD player and blast "Sister Golden Hair" throughout the factory. It's truly fascinating how the most random music can bring so many different people from different areas and different walks of life together in the same place at the same time.
"Oz never did give nothin' to the tin man that he didn't, didn't already have" is actually a clever way of saying you don't need validation from other people. There aren't a lot of lyrics in this song, but those few lyrics paint a vivid picture.
The gift of gab means someone or people who like to talk and share stories. So in the lyrics, late at night when things are real and people share the gift of gab among themselves... they're having real, deep conversations as people are wont to do when it's very late. :)
Yep. That's a fantastic, yet unforced, lyrical line from Dewey. The days before internet, big screen TV and the constant blast of such distractions. NW0 face diapers 😷 and mandatory "lockdowns" indeed make it increasingly difficult for people to closely relate and share the gift of gab between themselves. And Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man that he didn't already have? That's right, he already had all along that which he desired so badly.
The bass is exactly why I like this one. Not much of an America fan but this one, Ventura Highway, and Lonely People are their best imo. All three were top 10 hits as well.
This song is short but sweet and I love it. It has one of the best bass lines ever. It is on our overhead music at work so I hear it all the time but never get tired of it. For your next reaction I recommend "Sandman", "I Need You" or their later hit "You Can Do Magic".
If you guys were alive when this music was on the top 40 radio, you wouldn't think it was different, lol. The 70s was the best decade for music. America had it's own style, I love this band.
America love all of their hits from Horse with no Name, Muskrat Love 1971, I Need You 1972, Tin Man 1974, my favorite love the piano, Dewey singing this one and Horse with no name. and Muskrat Love that Captain and,Tennille made more famous. Gerry sang I need You and Sister Golden Hair. 1976. Listen to more America. You'll love Gerry Beckley's voice as well.
Gift of gab means being a great conversationalist. Being able to converse well with others. I'm glad you commented on the Tin Man's heart and how he always had a heart. Oz could never give him what he actually had. This also goes for the Scarecrow wanting a brain and the Lion wanting courage. They had a heart, they had brains, and they had courage. What they didn't have was belief in themselves.
Holy moly, you guys are so funny! The gift of gab! When someone loves to talk and talk and talk. I would say all three of you have the gift of gab. Seriously, i love watching your reactions to songs I grew up with. It's obvious you love good music!
The "Gift of Gab" is when somebody's good at conversation. If somebody has a way with words, combined with a pleasant voice, they might be described as really having the gift of gab.
I just saw America in concert only 3 days ago and posted 4 videos from the show on my channel including A Horse With No Name. Although I didn't get Tin Man this time, I did put it up on my channel from when I saw them on 6/3/22.
Yes.. this song references the wizard oz.. “0z never gave nothing to the tin man he didn’t already have”” one of their biggest hits on black radio back in the day … great crossover music
Oh yah, lived in L. A. In the 70's actually loved the fact we had Ventura Highway down the road, was a cool weekend at the beach in Manhattan type of music, live this band. ❤️
I totally dig your three reactions of America!!! It makes me so happy~ I love seeing y'all groove out to this, and Ryan, I like seeing your movements, jamming with it 😉 Of course, always, I enjoy when you three sing~ rock on 👍 la la la, ooh, ooh la la!
Yes, next is "Sister Golden Hair, "Ventura Highway", "Lonely People", "I Need You", and their last hit from later in the early 1980s "You Can Do Magic".
Another great band from that era that is worth checking out is Little River Band. I would suggest “It’s a long way there” which has an album version remaster 2022. They have a ton of hits but this is an epic introduction to the band.
50+ years later they still tour, Rich Campbell who went to my high school has played bass with them for 20+ years! His Facebook post are pretty darn cool!
While agreeing with Ventura Highway and other legendary earlier hits, I still adore their latter albums with songs like The Border, Cast The Spirit, You Can Do Magic, Honey, and more.
Well friends I’m looking forward to your reaction to “You Can Do Magic”. This America song is melodic and tasty with simple lyrics, my favorite by them. It has more of a commercial flair with a catchy chorus and great hook. I’m a new subscriber, real enjoy you guys.
The improved production is because they brought in George Martin as producer. Sir George not only brought his experience from producing The Beatles, he plays the piano on this track. My next choice would be "I Need You".
Great ear hearing that this America album was better produced than the previous ones. It was the 1st of 7 consecutive America albums that were produced by George Martin, the producer who helped make the Beatles so good.
Guys, cool reaction. At another time, check out their 1976 radio hit "Today's the Day." It has classic America vocal overlays and harmonies, and some cool guitar moments. Peace.
Their song "Sandman" is very different and darker in feel. The lyrics were taken from random conversations they overheard between pilots at an Air Force Base terminal .
I agree Sister Golden Hair and Ventura Highway are great songs by America. I would also highly suggest songs by Seals and Cr. Same sort of easy, breezy feeling with great vocals. Diamond Girl and Summer Breeze are great songs by them.
Cool band. Could you please react to Europe songs called Cherokee, Rock The Night, Superstitious, Danger On The Track, Love Chaser. Awesome band, awesome songs I think you guys would like.😎🎸👌
George Martin produced 5 of their albums, which explains why the recordings are of such high quality. America was the next big band he produced, after his first big band, The Beatles broke up.
This is such a great song. If you like his voice you really need to hear Ventura Highway ❤
yeah Ventura Highway is their best IMO. Make sure you do the original version NOT the re-engineered one from around 2000 because they put too much reverb in it and ruined the vibe of the song.
💯
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
No Doubt. 'Ventura Highway" provides such a wonderful visual. I've never traveled on Ventura Highway but the song puts me in a state that I can see myself driving down it on a beautiful sunny day!!!
My favorite is " You Can Do Magic".
This is definitely my favorite by America... brings back great childhood memories too!
"Ventura Highway" or "Sister Golden Hair" are two more great America songs like this, pure bliss.
"Right Before Your Eyes" is a favorite of mine from 80's America, similar vibe of course.
Oh Sister Golden Hair would be so good for them to check out. They'll just be grinnin'.
Agreed. Two of the best.
For his last job, my father was a crew supervisor on the third shift (11 PM to 7 AM) at a lumber processing plant. Love them. Old Man Took is my favorite. My soul melts every time I hear that song :)
Sister Golden Hair is one of the best songs, Ventura Highway is another great one.
I agree with Christina because Ventura Highway is America's best song. You most definitely need to listen to it.
The harmonies in The Tin Man is fantastic!
Best harmonies, I think, are in Muskrat love, my absolute favourite from them!
Gift of gab is describing someone who can effortlessly carry on a conversation or can be very persuasive.
Okay, THIS is the album George Martin produced with America in just 2 weeks. He actually added and played the piano part you hear in this song.
"Oz never did give nothin' to the tin man that he didn't, didn't already have" is actually a clever way of saying you don't need validation from other people. There aren't a lot of lyrics in this song, but those few lyrics paint a vivid picture.
Yes, cuz nothing else in the song makes any sense.
You don't need a cause to be a good person. Its already inside you. That's the message
One of my favorite bands. So many childhood memories listening to these guys. ❤️❤️
I love America. Just a great pop band with perfectly arranged voices and instruments. Just a chill vibe. What's not to love?
Pop band?? Wtf
“The gift of gab” is a phrase meaning the ability to strike up and carry a conversation with virtually anyone… 😉
Youngest of 6 kids. Thank God my older siblings introduced me to real music at a very young age. 56 years later and still a favorite.
The gift of gab means someone or people who like to talk and share stories. So in the lyrics, late at night when things are real and people share the gift of gab among themselves... they're having real, deep conversations as people are wont to do when it's very late. :)
Guess the modern generation never heard of this word.
@@steveullrich7737 Guess not :)
Sister Golden hair , Daisy Jane are also good songs. Thanks for sharing. Scott
Nice clear and loud sound here, for one of the ultimate headphone songs from the 1970s.
The bass is exactly why I like this one. Not much of an America fan but this one, Ventura Highway, and Lonely People are their best imo. All three were top 10 hits as well.

Oh WOW!! I forgot about "Sandman"! What a great choice!
Sister Golden Hair and my fave Ventura Highway are two more mega hits for this wonderful group. 'Simplicity' is wonderful.
This is crazy to America in a row love love love love you guys
If you guys were alive when this music was on the top 40 radio, you wouldn't think it was different, lol. The 70s was the best decade for music. America had it's own style, I love this band.
I say the same thing 70's music was just a vibe the best all around music !!
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands.
America love all of their hits from Horse with no Name, Muskrat Love 1971, I Need You 1972, Tin Man 1974, my favorite love the piano, Dewey singing this one and Horse with no name. and Muskrat Love that Captain and,Tennille made more famous. A timeless classic!
Other favorites: "Sister Golden Hair", "Ventura Highway", and "Daisy Jane"...
I’m a drummer
And I love playing this song
There’s so much percussion in this track
Holy moly, you guys are so funny! The gift of gab! When someone loves to talk and talk and talk. I would say all three of you have the gift of gab. Seriously, i love watching your reactions to songs I grew up with. It's obvious you love good music!
Wait til you hear the fades of the vocals in your headphones! Very cool!
Love America!! Ventura Highway….another great song!
✌🏻😉✌🏻
The "Gift of Gab" is when somebody's good at conversation. If somebody has a way with words, combined with a pleasant voice, they might be described as really having the gift of gab.
Another excellent song by America.
Thanks guys
This song is the panacea to all the world's problems....................it has all the answers.
Ventura Highway is my favorite!
Love this band! Ventura Highway and Sister Golden Hair!!!!
Let’s keep it going with Ventura Highway next. ❤️
I just saw America in concert only 3 days ago and posted 4 videos from the show on my channel including A Horse With No Name. Although I didn't get Tin Man this time, I did put it up on my channel from when I saw them on 6/3/22.
On AM radio my whole youth.. Hit FM and wow!..😎🎸
Check out "Sandman" by America as well
Many groups during those years were contractually obligated to deliver 2 albums & 4 singles per year.
Yes.. this song references the wizard oz..
Love.
Dude, watch them live. SOOO good. The talent is unreal.
The drummer gets your attention too..
Gotta do "Ventura Highway" next!! I wanna hear Ty sing too...I'm sure he has a good voice.
You know, after watching this, I've got to wonder just how much uncontrollable laughter gets edited out of each video. 😁🤣😂
Wife here..,This is my Husband's favorite!!..I ❤ "Ventura Highway" and "Sister Golden Hair"!!
First album I ever bought was America - History. The songs always remind me of a drive on the US 395 in eastern CA.
Sir George Martin needed something to do after the fellas from Liverpool broke up. I’m glad he met these guys. Playlist for over 50 years.
I just drove 2 hours to see them in concert in Augusta, GA this past June. Totally worth the $90 tickets.
Great songs for sure, and Ventura Highway is definitely my favorite of many!
Yes, next is "Sister Golden Hair, "Ventura Highway", "Lonely People", "I Need You", and their last hit from later in the early 1980s "You Can Do Magic".

Three wizards of Oz reacting to the tin man. I like it!
50+ years later they still tour, Rich Campbell who went to my high school has played bass with them for 20+ years! His Facebook post are pretty darn cool!
Dan Peek, great voice!
The gift of gab is being able to talk easily with each other. Gab = small talk.
Sir George Martin (Beatles producer) is on the piano.
+1 for Ventura Highway
So fun seeing y’all bop your heads and vibing in unison. Great reaction.
These guys were fire in 74 when I first saw them and they are still out there.
Classic rock.. Classic..😊
One of my favorite bands!
SISTER GOLDEN HAIR is one of the catchiest songs in the world and one of my all-time favorite songs
Beatles manager George Martin produced this and the album. He also played the piano
IMO, Ventura Highway is their best song. (The gift of gab is the ability to talk easily.)
While agreeing with Ventura Highway and other legendary earlier hits, I still adore their latter albums with songs like The Border, Cast The Spirit, You Can Do Magic, Honey, and more.
🙏❤🌹Dan, Willie, George🌹❤🙏
Doobie Brothers:
1) long train running
2) listen to the music
Gotta listen to “Ventura Highway” next! 🔥
Yesss I second that request!!! ❤🔥
They played a FREE concert onboard 32nd street in San Diego for the Navy families. All concession profits went to MWR.
Well friends I’m looking forward to your reaction to “You Can Do Magic”. This America song is melodic and tasty with simple lyrics, my favorite by them. It has more of a commercial flair with a catchy chorus and great hook. I’m a new subscriber, real enjoy you guys.
This song is a WARM HUG!!!!
The gift of gab is a saying about 2 lovers sharing talking between themselves after being intimate.
Always loved this song! Thank you guys 🙂
Regards from Chile 🙂
It is so smooth! I LOVE it. Great harmonies. A trip down memory lane for me. Great review, Boys. Love you guys. :)
The improved production is because they brought in George Martin as producer. Sir George not only brought his experience from producing The Beatles, he plays the piano on this track.
My next choice would be "I Need You".
You gotta hear "Ventura Highway" by America! It's the best and my favorite. Also listen to "Sistrr Golden Hair"
I love how you guy nod your heads differently
Thanks, Ty! Thanks, Ryan! Thanks, Nick! 🦾 #ViewsFromThe502 #TinMan #AmericaBand

Guys, cool reaction. At another time, check out their 1976 radio hit "Today's the Day." It has classic America vocal overlays and harmonies, and some cool guitar moments. Peace.
You did well in selecting the next America song. This is a freaking jam.
"Sister Golden Hair" is my favorite, great selection!

When you have Sir George Martin he the producer of The Beatles producing this Album it's gotta be Class.
Love this group so much. You've got to do Ventura Highway.
I've never heard this song before, but yeah it's going on the playlist ✌🏽🤠
Album, tour, album, tour… repeat. Is the way it was done.
Check out " town and country" from 1998. Way past their heyday, but still got it
I think this album was produced by the Beatles producer George Martin while they were in England!
That base player sounds like the legendary Bootsie Collins who did most of Motown
Cool band. Could you please react to Europe songs called Cherokee, Rock The Night, Superstitious, Danger On The Track, Love Chaser. Awesome band, awesome songs I think you guys would like.😎🎸👌
Again Sister Golden Hair is my favorite America song.
Gab is talk. The gift of gab is the ability to communicate well with words.
They were such a mellow cool band! This was the band we just chilled with all our friends to! Chiguy
Such a magical song. Used to love it when they played this at the skating rink.
George Martin produced 5 of their albums, which explains why the recordings are of such high quality. America was the next big band he produced, after his first big band, The Beatles broke up.
Whatever happened to the first band George Martin produced?
@@gerardodoherty9178 They remained quite relevant, I would say, and did pretty well for themselves.
Hahahaha I think you mean The Beatles... just The Gods of Music....
Also "Horse with No Name" - haunting and poetic.....
