I opted for the automatic, because I plan to wear it most days and really like being able to glance at my wrist for the date, which I can never remember. Having said that, I also have a Speedmaster I have worn quite a bit. My morning routine with the Speedmaster is to wind it and then start the chronograph and stop the seconds hand on the marker that corresponds to the day's date. It's surprisingly intuitive and quick to read.
I looked at several video's on youtube, and tonight I ordered one, got a real good discount, plus no sales takes, decided on the white panda dail, there was no wait list at least for the panda. Free shipping and will be shipped out from Topper in California and yes got it on the mesh. I paid well under $2k, been a return customer of them over the years, they always call afterwards to make sure everything is OK. FWIW I do own a big eye, reason I got it in white. Bought that pre owned and in excellent condition except for minor to moderate wear on the strap. I see them as compliatentry and can co-exisit. I don't mind winding the watch, sort of looking forward to it. I did see Rob's review whom I think he sent it to you or vice versa.. Thanks for your review,
Just bought it here in Chengdu, China. Waiting on its arrival from Shanghai but may be delayed due to situation in Shanghai so I’ll have to wait a few days. I bought it on the black leather as its a little more “modest” but looking forward to wearing it as a weekend watch and keeping my BB58 for Monday to Fridays. Thanks for a great review Bruce - this tipped the scales for me.
I'm thinking about getting that one too, but that one is still a bit too expensive for me. also, I find the dial just a bit too boring compared to this Hamilton
Hello Bruce, excellent review as always but just one observation. A open caseback will make the rear of the case thicker which will make the watch sit higher on the wrist. Also, as to your questions. I bought a Longines big eye and never connected with it so got rid of it. The oversize pushers just bothered me. I have a couple chronos in my collection, a Heuer 38mm Monaco and a Tudor bb reverse panda chrono. So why am I now buying a what some consider lesser watch? Cost is secondary for me, I like what I like regardless of pecking order. I am expecting a mechanical Hamilton panda tomorrow. Thanks for your videos.
I'm new into the watch game. I was bored by all the quartz watches. I knew there are awesome but also expensive brands like Rolex, Omega, Tudor, Zenith and so on..... But then I heard about Hamilton and took a look on their website. When I saw the Intra-Matic Chrono I fell in love immediately. This vintage style but with modern technology is stunning to me. Since I know about it I'm saving up to buy it. I'm still not sure if I should go for the automatic or the hand winding modell. But a open case back would have been the cherry on my cake.
Bruce, I am late to this party but am happy with my purchase of the panda version. A couple years ago I was pumped up on purchasing the Big Eye. But for whatever reason I never connected with it and sold it after it sat in the watch box for about a year. I don't think it was the thickness of the case because I have the Tudor bb reverse panda and love it. I agree with everything about your assessment of the Hamilton. I do prefer open casebacks but in this case went with the mechanical.why? The thinner case back allows it to sit closer to my wrist so it doesn't feel top-heavy. Plus I am up in age so the retro of the 1968 Hamilton chrono models really suits me. Thanks for your excellent reviews.
The panda automatic was a strong contender for my next watch, but this one replaces that. Its not that the automatic is obsolete now, because it has a different dial, has a date and is automatic. But for me the vintage appeal is the most important. No date and Box sapphire is a clear winner. And handwound is even better. Happy hunting!
This has to be the best looking and best value Swiss Chronograph at under $2000. If you want the date get the Automatic version of this watch. Hamilton really makes great watches. Hamilton and ETA are owned by the Swatch Group this making it an in house movement.
I just got this Hamilton recently and it’s beautiful. My next one is Sea-Gull 1963 , which is at $600 range, and arguably even more stylish than the Hamilton
Thank you very much for the great content, especially for the readability problem (is anti reflective treatment efficient ?). So I will seriously consider this reverse panda … thanks to you ! All the best :-)
Great video Bruce. I appreciate thr insight...but now I'm not sure if I should go with the Longines 😂....but seriously thanks for another great review!
I really like hamilton. I have hamilton, in fact the intramatic dressy threehander was my wedding watch. I think hamilton offers one of the best values, and is not talked enough about. I also genuinly like the desing of this watch, very, very much.... ...but the hight steered me off. I had the same feeling like having the nomos weltzeit on the wrist, the side is just too narrow and just too high. Otherwise great looking, great value and for the price, the hight issue isnt really an issue... still enough for me to not pull the trigger though. Having said that, keep it coming Hamilton, you are doing it right.
I love the Hamilton intramatic chronos, especially the manual variants and the blue dialed auto. Ultimately, for what I like and need in a watch, the high polish turned me away from the Intramatic Chrono and I bought the big eye this week instead! Chunky af, but a killer watch!
I can forgive the fauxtina here. Really sharp dial. The AR is a game changer for Hamilton for sure. This guy on a high quality black rally strap would fit in just right at the racetrack. The Big Eye is on my personal someday list. Regardless of price point that watch looks good next to anything in my opinion. And for a pilot style chrono, it's a manageable size for us wee lads. Nice Vid!
Does this wear much smaller than the big eye? I’m thinking about either this or the big eye and I can’t decide. The wearability might be the factor that I come down on.
From the 4:51 - 4:53. The hell’s going on with that minute sundial? Watch how it almost struggles to move. Unless that footage was slowed down, that movement looked a little “off”.
Pls Bruce compare with your Speedy both are cam chronographs. I need the auto in my collection cuz I do like the date complication. Great content as usual.
The Montblanc 1858 chronograph caught my eye aswell and the Longines heritage tuxedo chronograph is beautiful but I wish Longines would beef up the wr 30 meters is kind of week. At least the Montblanc is 100m WR
BRO I am planning on getting one of these (saving a lot of dough over the Premier reverse panda which I wasn't able to find). Perfect timing! This is as close to that Heuer Carrera 60s look that is out there, as far as I know. And for two grand, I'm sorry, but nobody gets to complain LOL.
Out of the two.. No question for me the Longines. The Hamilton just seems lacking. I think the exhibition case back would help a lot. The logo is a good point as well. Still a very nice watch from a solid brand.
I would be tempted to get the panda version to replace my automatic version since this doesn’t have a date and its handwind but I just can’t because of the fauxtina. Maybe next year they’ll do this without the fauxtina.
That Hamilton is great as you said in your review! But at around $2000 I think you shouldn't ignore German Sinn. They offer the 103, 356 and for just a little more the 144 an others. But from the most well known brands out there the Hamilton and Longines pack a great punch!
I have the intramtic chrono date and the only thing I don’t like it the minute subdial. The hand on these watches don’t seem to be tightened down much from the factory so they don’t line up perfectly at the 0 minute marker.
Really missed the opportunity to put the date at the 6 I know people love dateless watches for symmetry but I need that date on a watch, just me though. Still a great piece and price
I believe it's the ONLY Hand Wind Chrono in the Swatch Parts Bin...I looked it up. Which makes it Rare in this price segment. Why not display it instead of that hunk of junk on the Back? So stupid !!
I really wish it would have been a tad thinner but hey, its an ETA what do you expect... People here complaining about thickness like its the end of the world, meanwhile Tudors and Submariners are just as or even thicker while those are only 3 handers and this being a chronograph. Its not like Hamilton deliberately made it as thick as possible. If it would have been one of those Dubois Dépraz modules people would have wanted a 7750 because of the servicing. YOU CANT HAVE A 7750 WATCH UNDER 14MM The rest of the watch is pretty great, great power reserve, manual wind, great dial layout, panda style, great finishing with that seamless bezel, and 100 meters water resistance. Just a great daily driver.
I live in Thailand. We have long lasting rain seasons here and very high humidity. Hamilton has 100m. waterproof, Longines - 30m. only. That's why my choice is Hamilton.
I don't know Bruce, the stutter hands on this and the Breitling look very bad, considering my $200 Sugess Chronograph with a lowly Seagull ST19 movement works perfectly fine, I can't understand why the mighty Swiss get the free pass here?
Thanks bruce nice but u are right a movement with out the rotar definetly needs to be shown of. Longines for me over the Hamilton. I have owned the Big Eye and I sold it because it never seemed to sit right on my wrist..I have the new Hammy and it wears much better... that’s kinda of a big deal in my opinion

This Hamilton, in my opinion, is better watch. Hamilton watch is clean chronograph design. Longines has not simetrical dial, this design is not for me.
Hey Bruce! Love the channel, thanks for the great content! Do you have a recommendation for a good spring bar tool from Amazon? Anyone else in the comments too, please chime in. Thanks!
I opted for the automatic, because I plan to wear it most days and really like being able to glance at my wrist for the date, which I can never remember. The Junghans Chronoscope is another great sub-2k chronograph. I owned it and it's beautiful.
I looked at several video's on youtube, and tonight I ordered one, got a real good discount, plus no sales takes, decided on the white panda dail, there was no wait list at least for the panda. Hi, how is it after a few months? Do you still like it? Any flaws which should be mentioned?
Just bought it here in Chengdu, China. Waiting on its arrival from Shanghai but may be delayed due to situation in Shanghai so I’ll have to wait a few days. I bought it on the black leather as its a little more “modest” but looking forward to wearing it as a weekend watch and keeping my BB58 for Monday to Fridays. Thanks for a great review Bruce - this tipped the scales for me.
Great review. I actually own this watch with the panda dial and completely agree with you about the open case back!
It's smashing indeed. I agree an open case back would have justified some of the price. My eyes are on the Avigation Big Eye for a chrono.
What did you go for? I’m experiencing that same dilemma at the moment
Bruce, I am late to this party but am happy with my purchase of the panda version. A couple years ago I was pumped up on purchasing the Big Eye. But for whatever reason I never connected with it and sold it after it sat in the watch box for about a year. Have the automatic version Panda dial on a strap, love it!!!
The date was the reason I didn't buy the automatic version. The pin button date changer looked like a pain. Gonna buy one of these in the near future
Very nice watch. It would be perfect if the case is thinner at about 12mm and come with a see thru case back. Great video. Thanks!
Got the exact configuration and love it!
Damn I want one. I have the panda automatic and this seems like a perfect complement. I guess this is another one to add to my ever growing wishlist.
There’s a new auto version that’s coming out that has the date at 6 o’clock. Really great looking piece.
Sounds like you’re thinking of the previous Automatic version. It’s rather dated. Unless you’re talking about a redesign.
Awesome video man, I really enjoyed your opinions here, keep up the solid content!
It's a winner. Great piece and good value too...thx Bruce...keep 'em coming...
I'm so interested in getting this particular Hamilton Chronograph...
Just ordered automatic intra chrono white dial 2 days ago and i can't wait for watch to be delivered.
The black dial is soooo nice. Love the retro feel. Looks awesome.
Some of the allure of that Hamilton chrono, imo is that big domed glass that distorts at the edges...love that retro detail.
Very nice video, very useful, especially about the anti reflective treatment : thank you !
Very nice! Wish it didn’t take $2K to get decent AR coating on a Hamilton though.
This has to be the best looking and best value Swiss Chronograph at under $2000. If you want the date get the Automatic version of this watch. Hamilton really makes great watches. Hamilton and ETA are owned by the Swatch Group this making it an in house movement.
I heard it's a marvel to see mechanical movement. Hamilton, please show us the movement with open case back and I will buy it in a heartbeat.
Love the panda version , that is the one for me, great video
0:01 The one that got away. ;)
The legendary black GMT. I love mine. Such a classic and pure tool watch.
Really nice 👍🏻. Tag heuer have a new aqua racer out , don’t know how new it is but the bracelet has fine adjustment, looks really nice 👍🏻
This and the Tissot Heritage chronograph 1948 are both so tempting, great look and price on both.
Thanx Bruce for the review 👍this will be my next buy 🤘
I just got this Hamilton recently and it’s beautiful. My next one is Sea-Gull 1963 , which is at $600 range, and arguably even more stylish than the Hamilton
This is a beautiful looking chronograph, but I still prefer the white panda dial better. That Longines big eye does look amazing also.
Love it. Hurrah no date 👏🏻
Much nicer than the new Tudor imho.
Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers Steve, always enjoy reading your comments
Tudor should not have put the date window on that chronograph. It would be more like the Daytona if they didn't put it
Thank you very much for the great content, especially for the readability problem (is anti reflective treatment efficient ?). So I will seriously consider this reverse panda … thanks to you ! All the best :-)
Great video Bruce. I appreciate thr insight...but now I'm not sure if I should go with the Longines 😂....but seriously thanks for another great review!
This is a fantastic offering from Hamilton.
I really like hamilton. I have hamilton, in fact the intramatic dressy threehander was my wedding watch. I think hamilton offers one of the best values, and is not talked enough about. I also genuinly like the desing of this watch, very, very much....

Having said that, keep it coming Hamilton, you are doing it right.
Have you checked out the olive green dial automatic version? Haven't seen any videos of that model yet
How's the hand winding been? Still working properly?
Your criticisms of the watch are completely accurate. Details like the lack of brushing and inconsistent branding are triggering
Is that a staib milanese bracelet on the longine you showed?
I love the Hamilton intramatic chronos, especially the manual variants and the blue dialed auto. Ultimately, for what I like and need in a watch, the high polish turned me away from the Intramatic Chrono and I bought the big eye this week instead! Chunky af, but a killer watch!

Thank you brotha!
Gorgeous piece. I also agree that there should be a display caseback.
Does this wear much smaller than the big eye? I’m thinking about either this or the big eye and I can’t decide. The wearability might be the factor that I come down on.
Awesome review! Do you know if its possible to just get the bracelet? I have the panda intramatic chrono, and I would look so great on that bracelet!
Is the new Yema panda chrono a homage to this watch?
From the 4:51 - 4:53. The hell’s going on with that minute sundial? Watch how it almost struggles to move. Unless that footage was slowed down, that movement looked a little “off”.
Love your work mate.
Thank you Logan
Pls Bruce compare with your Speedy both are cam chronographs. I need the auto in my collection cuz I do like the date complication. Great content as usual.
Will the crown have a hard stop when fully wound? Sorry I’m new to hand wound watches
What’s that valjou wobble you speak of?
The Montblanc 1858 chronograph caught my eye aswell and the Longines heritage tuxedo chronograph is beautiful but I wish Longines would beef up the wr 30 meters is kind of week. At least the Montblanc is 100m WR
This new hamilton or the hanhart 417 es?
Junghans Meister chronoscope blue dial...I'd take that over both
BRO I am planning on getting one of these (saving a lot of dough over the Premier reverse panda which I wasn't able to find). Perfect timing! This is as close to that Heuer Carrera 60s look that is out there, as far as I know. And for two grand, I'm sorry, but nobody gets to complain LOL.
Send me an email man. I have a discount code for this watch I can share with you
Out of the two.. No question for me the Longines. The Hamilton just seems lacking. I think the exhibition case back would help a lot. The logo is a good point as well. Still a very nice watch from a solid brand.
I went hamilton as my beater chrono. Above hamilton, I jump into omega/JLC etc
I HATE the Hamilton Letter's falling over like Dynamo's. It wrecks the Austetics and symmetry, what Einstein introduced that flaw on the Dial ?
I would be tempted to get the panda version to replace my automatic version since this doesn’t have a date and its handwind but I just can’t because of the fauxtina. Maybe next year they’ll do this without the fauxtina.
I am not into chronographs but I would choose this Hamilton instead of Longines Big Eye. A video to compare the two models would make sense.
Great video, as always. The music at the beginning is hideous though.
Great video.
That's one beautiful timepiece
Really missed the opportunity to put the date at the 6 I know people love dateless watches for symmetry but I need that date on a watch, just me though. Still a great piece and price
By the auto and don't spoil our fun :D
That is true, a good daily greatly benefits from a date. And there is an automatic version with a date at the six
I believe it's the ONLY Hand Wind Chrono in the Swatch Parts Bin...I looked it up. Which makes it Rare in this price segment. Why not display it instead of that hunk of junk on the Back? So stupid !!
Your advice, Longines bigeye or Hamilton intra matic chronograph?
Hamilton intra matic manual or automatic?
Thanks 👍👍👍
I really wish it would have been a tad thinner but hey, its an ETA what do you expect...
People here complaining about thickness like its the end of the world, meanwhile Tudors and Submariners are just as or even thicker while those are only 3 handers and this being a chronograph.
Its not like Hamilton deliberately made it as thick as possible.
If it would have been one of those Dubois Dépraz modules people would have wanted a 7750 because of the servicing.
YOU CANT HAVE A 7750 WATCH UNDER 14MM
The rest of the watch is pretty great, great power reserve, manual wind, great dial layout, panda style, great finishing with that seamless bezel, and 100 meters water resistance.
Just a great daily driver.
Really nice watch.
A bit thick. And needs a display back. But superb piece
Really digging the intramatic, however I'm very interested in Monta right now ,what are your thoughts on Monta"s quality?
Absolutely excellent quality. They don't skimp out in any area that I can think of
@@BruceWilliams that says a lot coming from someone like you who handles a multitude of watches . Thanks
Please review longines heritage 1946 chrono
I live in Thailand. We have long lasting rain seasons here and very high humidity. Hamilton has 100m. waterproof, Longines - 30m. only. That's why my choice is Hamilton.
Another chrono around 2000$? I'm going with the Chilton by Haven Watch Co (blue dial).
Lots of respect for Hamilton. The finishing on most brands at this price point falls apart under magnification, but Hamilton is doing it right.
Is your wrist 17 cm?
I don't know Bruce, the stutter hands on this and the Breitling look very bad, considering my $200 Sugess Chronograph with a lowly Seagull ST19 movement works perfectly fine, I can't understand why the mighty Swiss get the free pass here?
I don't see it as a free pass. I see it as the reality of many mechanical calibers. They have personality traits
Thanks for the recommendation of Mimo's Jewelry! I got my Seiko SRPE37 from them, and it was a painless, quick process
I'm at a toss up between this Hamilton and the Sinn 356 in acrylic 😮💨
Does anyone know the thickness of the Big Eye compared to the Hamilton?
I have both and the Big eye wears slightly thicker and less comfortable
At least we got a 100m WR with the Hamilton. This 30m wr on the Longines is to week. Longines needs to beef up there watch to at least 50m wr
Both Ridiculous!!
I prefer no date and closed back, but 15 mm is too tall for this style
Thanks bruce nice but u are right a movement with out the rotar definetly needs to be shown of.
Longines for me over the Hamilton.
And I went for it bruce u will hate me but i bought the Maurice Lacroix Aikon day date chronograph.
I didnt have a chrono Automatic in my collection and i love it wearing it at the moment on the blue leather strap really good quality.
And the steel bracelet.
Yes but mainly the valjou 7750.
And i like that feel i get from it its a mechanical watch i want to know that its a life like a heartbeat.
Pulsing away.
But great channel your intro work top notch.
And for people comming accross this video suport bruce just a like and subscribe.
Hope to see what Bruces take is on the new tag heuer aquaracers.
Yeh or neh.
Or Meh
I would take this over a Longines. If I wanted brand prestige, it would be a speedy, type 20, daytona etc.
If you don't like the studded of the second pay 5,000 or more on a better watch but this watch can be had for 1,800 or less
I would love you to do a review on my latest watch. The Longines spirit chronograph x
I have a contact with and AD that sells Longines. I'll ask them if they can send one in
Nice one Bruce 👍
The watch could have been thinner with that manual winding movement. I think they reused the case from the automatic.
The mid-case might be the same, but this has a taller domed crystal and a flatter caseback.
this has a 2 pc case - automatic is 3 pc
I agree. I really want it to have an open caseback too on this watch.
U read my mind. Why, why Not show the mivmnt here except Stupidity. It's the Only ETA mechanical Chrono that I've seen and Exclusive to this watch from what I've researched? It would be nice to see it !
I have owned the Big Eye and I sold it because it never seemed to sit right on my wrist..I have the new Hammy and it wears much better... that’s kinda of a big deal in my opinion
I’m sold on this watch, but I really wished it had an open back. It’s perfect otherwise.
I hate how it jumps erratically and as if it were failing vibrating the minute hand of the chrono, if it weren't for that I would go for this hand-wound Panda, but I can't stand that detail that really seems like a mistake,I prefer even though I like the panda look much more the Longines Bigeye, although it comes out a little more, not much, it does not have the problem of minutes and also has a better movement with column wheel, I will definitely go for a Big eye !!!!
Is a problem on that watch ? Or all the panda mechanicals jumps on that horrible way vibrating like is working bad ????
I would still stick with the auto version myself.
Wtf asked you?
I hate fauxtina but its' done very well here. Beautiful watch!
Why can’t they get this right? 38mm like the original and we’ll talk. Hamilton saving me a lot of coin lol.
That's a thicc boi
Disagree that it’s not on Longines level. Good review though. I just don’t like the Longines big eye design at all.
And Water resistant s is TERRIBLE on the Longines 30m they at least should be 50m. 100m with the Hamilton is awesome 👌
This Hamilton, in my opinion, is better watch. Hamilton watch is clean chronograph design. Longines has not simetrical dial, this design is not for me.
Its a beautiful piece i just don't dig those bracelets a nice leather strap would set it off
Every introduction style/music in ur videos doesn’t match your chestnut cuteness Bruce. You need a cute baby shark vibe intro.
Hey Bruce! Love the channel, thanks for the great content! Do you have a recommendation for a good spring bar tool from Amazon? Anyone else in the comments too, please chime in. Thanks!
The band isn't to appealing to me but otherwise looks good
Very nice and almost jumped on it. But went for the Hemel Airfoil, an American micro. 80 to 90 percent of this watch for 25 percent of the cost......
