I saw Joe Jackson in NYC about 20 years ago. I was with someone who knew someone and we ended up in a small bar after the show with Joe Jackson and a few others. The place wasn’t crowded; Joe was friendly, easy to approach and we had a decent conversation. He listened to whoever he was speaking with and just hung out until we left. A great guy!
Was there ANY better than Joe and the band during the New Wave/Punk era? No, not even close. Their combination of song writing, innovation, musical prowess, raw energy and live performance was completely unparalleled. No others that could do it all like Joe and the boys.
Was at a small club in Atlanta (Alex coolies) electric ball room, magical night with Joe and his band. They used the same restroom as the public. Those were special times for this musical genre
What the hell is wrong with you tonight? I can’t seem to say or do the right thing…. As a kid, I thought these were fanciful lyrics, and as an adult having had my own relationships, these lyrics hit entirely different. Thanks Joe!

He is such a perfectionist, and anytime I want to hear a live version of a song done right, I come back to this year after year. It's just masterful.
Wow. A song that sounds just as good live as the record did. This was back in the days when artists could actually sing. Great song.
