I saw Joe Jackson in NYC about 20 years ago. I was with someone who knew someone and we ended up in a small bar after the show with Joe Jackson and a few others. The place wasn’t crowded; Joe was friendly, easy to approach and we had a decent conversation. He listened to whoever he was speaking with and just hung out until we left. A great guy!
Was there ANY better than Joe and the band during the New Wave/Punk era? No, not even close. Their combination of song writing, innovation, musical prowess, raw energy and live performance was completely unparalleled. No others that could do it all like Joe and the boys.
Was at a small club in Atlanta (Alex coolies) electric ball room, magical night with Joe and his band. They used the same restroom as the public. Those were special times for this musical genre
What the hell is wrong with you tonight? I can’t seem to say or do the right thing…. As a kid, I thought these were fanciful lyrics, and as an adult having had my own relationships, these lyrics hit entirely different. Thanks Joe!
This man is in my soul. He gave me the soundtrack of my youth ....helped shape my worldview, validated my joy, pain and anger , and gave me the best live shows imaginable.

He is such a perfectionist, and anytime I want to hear a live version of a song done right, I come back to this year after year. It's just masterful.
Wow. A song that sounds just as good live as the record did. This was back in the days when artists could actually sing. Great song.
Excellent song. One of his very, very best tunes. He is so underrated.
Who else is still loving this song in 2022? 😷🤙🏼

This song has been haunting me lately… makes me feel 16 again listening to WLIR on my parents Magnavox stereo full blast. ❤❤❤

A masterpiece. Never ages. Great writer
..i'm glad THIS Joe Jackson is still around..
Most underrated singer ever!
He looks so young! It's hard to remember how young he was writing such cynical, personal lyrics.

I think this is his best song.
I think he's a musical genius. Lisa Mackres
One of the greatest songs ever recorded in my opinion.
One of my all time favourite songs. Jackson was a poet.
THAT, my friends, is committing to singing the song with emotion!!!
When I was 15 I would play this song over and over
