Elvis Costello comes to mind , also . I bet I'd have had a great time at one of Joe's performances . He is a Wow . I saw Elvis Costello at UNC Chapel Hill with the B52's . It was great ! The Netflix series is just wrapping up filming " The Summer I Turned Pretty " here on campus .
One of my favorite albums! Thank God for my dad's taste in music! Will always remember the first time hearing "Look Sharp" and that album cover. The drummer, bass player, and Joe Jackson's style! Ecstacy!
One of my lifetime faves! Was a pro musician for a couple decades and spent two months learning this on bass and vocals live and finally could kick in the ass! Ambidextrous train of thought.
BRILLIANT!! Thanks for sharing. Saw Joe and his band at Ashbury Park, New Jersey on August 1980. One of the best live acts of the punk era. I also saw The Ramones the night before at another venue in Ashbury Park. Needless to say, a memorable weekend 😑😎🤯
Classic album I love Sunday Papers I’m from New York City Joe Jackson he’s the man I’ll be 43 on Monday the bassline and the sarcastic lyrics and the key tar kicks ass

Blew away a room full of karaoke people the other night by wearing an outfit close to what Joe wore for the Look Sharp! album cover and singing this. I wish I had recorded it. Classic. Vital. Backbone. Joe's songs give you all this.
A pure genius. I even have the soundtrack album Joe made for the movie "Mike's Murder", with Debra Winger and Jack Lemmon. That is how much of a fan I am. I have all the albums and they are still in the plastic sleeves. I just used a pin to open them way back when. The early albums should be collectors items.
Wtf happened to VH1 Classic and fantastic programming as this. I loved watching this channel and then as with all rock related television stations it goes away.
Wasn’t punk... but it was... wasn’t reggae... but it was.... wasn’t top 40..... but it was. Talk about a band with a hardon for defying genres. Song writing at its best right here.
Grew up on Joe Jackson music its so nice hearing it again and watching this on RUclips Yes we had MTV in the 80s. But i dont ever remember them airing any of his performances or videos if he made any ? I always thought his music and lyrics were brilliant for the time this was the “New Wave” music in the day

Brilliant time for music , absolutely loved it
One of THE best introductory albums ever produced - JOE JACKSON, LOOK SHARP
Agree, ranks right up there with other debuts from the same period....B52's, The Cars, The Knack.
One of our greatest song writers
That period of music transitioning from the 70s to 80s had its own brief unique style, love it.

Some Punk Rock/New Wave and Ska. A very good mix by Joe Jackson and his backing band.

Always loved this tune. It's very nasty and a bit venomous.
Perfectly nasty only John Waite could do this as well
