Metallica - The Frayed Ends Of Sanity
I do not own this song, the song is property of Metallica - Видеоклипы
In my opinion ...and justice for all is Metallica's best album. Each song has a deep meaning and they are really powerful.
Agreed.
"One" makes the difference , thats why And Justice For All is their best album
+Dave Mustaine One is actually overrated, AJFA is a whole masterpiece.
Its undoubltedly the darkest
Tyler Foster I'm torn between Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All. Both are equal to me
I think James really liked the Wizard Of Oz. He used the guard's song as an intro, and looked like the Cowardly Lion when he was younger. lol
Beatrice Trudea James Hetfield, the singer/rhythm guitar player.
In 2019 he looked like the lion again lol
Spot on!
pfffffffhahahaha
Those Abbott's reappear, fighting the fear of beer. Maybe referring to drinking with Pantera mid 80s lol
This hits different when you're actually going insane.
bro so relatable
@Jörgen Johnson stfu
@Jörgen Johnson what voices and this song is badass
@Jörgen Johnson excuse me
@UCCrQcyEFzK4QZ-ru2hwLSug stfu U aint real 😆
Many comments on Metallica vid's are about Lars's drumming. I don't agree. Think he is a pretty damn good drummer and very original (off beats and fills are unique and he started in the early 80's). Think he deserves some respect.
Yeah if you watch him live his fills are really out of place and as a guitar player i dont see how kirk and james really keep so tight together. He forgets his own parts. he doesnt even practice anymore. and hasnt for like 20 years. hes just not that good. hes only barely passes.
WlatDsieny he was good though. and james and kirk are very good
The Extinct Surgeon was
Lars is a okay drummer, but James and Kirk are so good, just imagine if they had a really good drummer.
Matthew Clayton I can't even imagine how this song would sound with Nick Menza.
Did you guys noticed how awesome is what James is playing behind Kirk's solo?
HELL YEAH! That's why everyone goes nuts over this song. The interlude is the best shit they ever recorded!
Rafael Bergamin On most Metallica songs the interesting part is what James is jamming behind Kirk.
Rafael Bergamin yeah, that’s the point of a rhythm guitarist, to keep the riff going in the background....
The best solos are made even better by excellent counter-riffing, as evidenced on this track.
Listen to the bass, its the bass.
What happens in 4:04 is an absolute display of technique, groove and muscle that ANY academical guitar player will ever have
Right from BEGINNING to END is ALL that you wrote . . . .METAL ON !
4:04 -end💪🤘🎸 James Hatfield
Such a badass band. From image to sound, lyrics and attitude they were just hardcore. Even though I don't like the change that occurred in the 90s, they still have my respect for having the balls to try something different, unlike many of their contemporaries. Legendary band.
+Stefan Siljanoski I agree. There's too much unnecessary hate revolving around the band, because 90% of fans are just that.... fans. They can't understand from the musicians perspective of wanting to try new things and experiment, that's a big portion of the fun when you're making music.
This entire album is from 88 you know
I was referring to the albums from the 90s, of course I know that justice is from 88.
Stefan Siljanoski sure u knew haha😁...
Esteban Carballo You do realize he's talking about the progression through the Black album to Load/Reload right?
Probably the most underrated Metallica song ever.
Fak Jea escape
I agree with Satan, Escape is the most underrated. So is Of Wolf and Man.
Horror and Halloween 101 and leper messiah
@@Brendini27 Escape sucks tho
After Fixxxer of course
I dislike the people who disliked this song.
Aynen
Don't fret over the Karen's of the world..... their time has come!! Reckoning is upon them!!!
There's a dislike?
...And Justice For All, in my opinion, is the best album they ever made!!!!!
Totally agree
MOP is my favorite.
MOP is awesome! But my heart always goes back to AJFA. They were the best before they cut their hair!
This & ride the lightning are always fighting for the top spot on my favorite album lol
MY FAV METALLICA SONG!!!
Kirk Hammett showed his majestic ways of the guitar.
This has been my jam the past few days.
They vocals are killer with the lyrics.
The outro is absolutely insane.
Makes me freakin sweat when trying to play it on my guitar....trying in CAPITALS!!!...jajaja.
same. the intro kicks ass
The soldier helmet hanging on that useless cross on the left of Metallicas ' Master of Puppets' album cover is a nice touch, isn't it ?! LOL
When I was a young boy in the late 1970s the Earth was so beautiful and magical, just waiting to be explored. Then useless control - driven bible - toters tried to tell me it wasn't by trying to convince me the Earth is a very dark place and the only chance I had to get out was some guy that never existed to save me. I never listened to them. I saw how bible - toters were totally Miserable creatures full of Apathy via their needless and useless need of their Ego to ' Control' others. Years later in Ayahuasca ceremonies, Mother Aya showed me all the reasons why that is. "If it's not Shamanic, it's not Spiritually Organic." .. Period. Thank. You Mother Ayahuasca, infinite endless Gratitude !! Infinite Joy !! Nature is my church, and Rock N' Roll and Heavy Metal music (and a touch of psychedelic trance) is my religion ! : -)

So who is that useless and Narcissist control - driven Christ to claim Only 'he' can give eternal life ? That's not infinite freedom and divine love (light), that's control in the illusion of time ( dar - kness). Hence why bible - toters are BY FAR the biggest mass mur - der - ers in history, as nothing is dar - ker than christianity. Truth !
I legitimately think its IMPOSSIBLE to choose Metallica's best album of the first 4.....every album is metal perfection, there can be no winner!
first 5*, yeah tho
The riffs in this song are beyond words. It's so good, it's really unfair.

Gotta love the wreck it Ralph reference
Brosej yup
I just gut an ad for Oreos before this video. Coincidence?
Thanks i can't unhear this now 😂😂
I can imagine this being played at a concert and the audience would sing the "Oh wee oh" part
yeah, sadly they only played the full song live in like 2013
they played the full song first time in Helsinki 2014 and have played it a few times in 2015
Didn't hear it this year on Mother's Day :( ah well. It was still kickass.
or in a movie where the witch's soldiers march!
4:04-4:24
That's one hell of a riff \m/
he's just a badass thats all
don't forget cliff Burton on those writing credits man he was a very smart man
+Todd Reed cliff burton was a virtuoso of the bass. it's a shame his life was ended so soon. just imagine what this album would sound like with cliff
yeh he was, getting on genius in both his ability on bass and his writing skills. RIP Cliff
well tell you what.frist of all i like how the album sounds in the frist place despite am a bass player.I like its atmosphere.Second the album sounds killer and with jasons bass lines,he did perfect job,his bass lines were spot on
This song is so underrated
Met on tour was the opportunity to live this song
***** on Met On Tour
Caroline Johnson This is one of Metallica's songs i like the most!
That's what I'm about to say
Caroline Johnson
......by who? Nobody I know
THIS SONG HAS SO MUCH MEANING
you guys know the O-reo o o o came from the wizard of oz right??
No shit
+Eddie Loera It sure did.
The movie Wreck-it Ralph also made a parody with Oreo guards
Wait, what part in The Wizard Of Oz?
+Cr33p3rKid The song is called March of the Winkies. but I don't know where it is in the movie.
When you realize Hetfield doesn't suffer of alcoolism but of massive gaps of depression, all of a sudden, you understand differently his outstanding lyrics, especially those of justice.
IMO song is about self destruction.. which can manifest as self inflicted depression. Going out trying to grow, only to fall victim to your own cycle of self doubt and paranoia, fear. Leaping into the unknown only to falter and fall into the all too familiar downward spiral of fear and skepticism... the familiar embrace of hopelessness. The never ending pattern.
We're all fuckin human beings like James said monster looking for excitement sober clear here and there exciting you don't know what's going to happen fan since 86 cheers from California

I don't think I will ever see a concert as good as Metallica put on in Lubbock, TX 2004. For one time only due to converging tours they had Godsmack open for them. Pure, epic win when Sully got on stage with them for Sad But True and sang it as a duet with James. The only thing more epic that night was the 80 year old grandma in the row in front of me rocking out with her Ride the Lightening t-shirt.
Did they play Frayed Ends of Sanity though...
The ending of the vocals when James belts out "Hahahaha" is so metal
\m/
4:02 i love that riff
Metallica just played this live earlier today.
Sonisphere festival in Finland, I was there :D
finnishguy845 I worship you lol
tyler mcdavid LoL you shouldnt because it was like +5 celsius and there was rain or actually storm. Horrible gig because Finish summer.
thrashmetal turska You finished though + in my book "As I wait for the horror she brings" LOL
beginning makes me imagine some big ass midevil battle about to take place or something lol
+Kaine O'Brien Its from the Wizard of Oz
+bill hallman my friend was singing that tune in the car and said it was from the wizard of oz. I recognized it and it took me like 30 seconds that it was from this song I recognized it.
its taken from the march of the wicked witch s troops entering her castle from the original Wizard of Oz (: When Dorothy the straw dude (: tin guy and lion and Toto try too sneek in (:
+angel ramon diaz I think the same thing! haha
Fuckin perfect.. Axes and swords ready, shields up closing in on the frozen shore.
I've been thinking about this album from a lyrical way and I've come to the conclusion that, as this album talks about death, insanity and hate that structure of "verse-chorus" really fits it well. When you have this kind of lyric structure you are emphasizing the information in wich the song is passing or must pass to you (in the case of this album: death, insanity or hate), so makes this message even stronger. In the case of this track we have "Old habits reappear/Fighting the fear of fear/Growing conspiracy/Everyone's after me/The frayed ends of sanity/Hear them calling/Hear them calling me", so the repetition of this part a few times makes it even more strong of how the person is losing it's sanity. I don't know if I made sense but I hope I did! Bye and thanks for reading!
@Douglas Aprile ironic, cuz Kirk said in some interview that James was Apolitical (not political)
@@darthrevin8230 James himself has said that he is "apolitical" (which is short for "The status quo doesn't hurt me personally, so everybody who is really trying to fix issues is just overreacting and should stop annoying me") but *this album* is not apolitical whatsoever
@@dielegende9141 never said James didn't say it himself, im just saying I heard Kirk say James was apolitical in an interview.

4:03 One of James's best riffs.
i think the riff in 4:05 is the best riff James could come up with. I'd say blackened is the best but Jason wrote it
Best Metal 100% agree!! That is THE best riff James ever composed imo!!
Best Metal The riff in Damage Inc. that starts at 3:15 is a pretty close second i'd say.
bryanisgod1 they're kinda the same imo. i just like this one a bit more but that Damage Inc is AWESOME
Id say almost anything on kill em all but mustain wrote a lot of it. Seek and destroy's opener and the riff in the middle of fade to black are 2 of my all time favorites that and definitely blackened
***** pre chorus riff to master of puppets is pretty cool, fight fire with fire is awesome, creeping death riff, jump in the fire
3:53 It's like they're preparing you for the riff at 4:04 to f*ck you up.
The most underrated song of Metallica \m/
This is my favourite album:)
And,also i have it:D
SAME HERE
Me too
Nobody in who's a Metallica fan (or heavy metal fan in general) has *EVER* considered this song to be underrated, on any level. You either don't know the meaning of the word "underrated," or you don't know metal.
I have schizophrenia and this song describes everything I was going through when I lost my mind
Same here!
I feel you bro :/ God bless.

schizoaffective here and this is a good one
@@EddieCurry I'm Schizoaffective Depressive Type. I started feeling weird and then for some strange reason I thought of lyrics for this song from my past. I looked up the full lyrics and I thought - holy crap this song describes what I'm feeling!
It can be a real challenge dealing with things like losing sense of what's real, hallucinations both visual and audible and accusing friends of saying things or doing things that never happened.
one of the best guitar solo's ever!
3:20 - 5:50 = the gnarliest collection of high-powered technical riffs Metallica has ever jammed into a single song. No wonder they don't play that shit live. Every time I listen to that section, my neck comes out of it with +5 lbs of muscle. AJFA all day long, baby!
\m/ \m/ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can only imagine how much fun they would've had recording that piece by piece and see it mesh that well. That whole section sounds like a jam session with your buddies in your garage on a Saturday evening.
Such a BA song. You can really tell its from the And Justice For All. I like how they keep the same sound throughout the whole album and don't do a bunch of different sounding songs.
+MOAR Games If you ask me, THIS is what St. Anger SHOULD'VE been like. Stripped down, but with solos, and songs not over staying their welcome with a head-ache inducing snare sound.
+stinkydo0d I agree completely. Honestly wasn't a huge fan of St. Anger, but I really like what they did with this song with the solos, and stripped down noise and contrast of the guitars sounding like cellos
Best Metallica song of all time. Period. The intro, the first main riff, the thrashy riff in the middle, the fucking epic chorus, the lyrics, the raw voice and my god ... this solo ....
When will people realize that dislikes on videos happen and they always will.
and justice for all........ and master of puppets are the best metallica albums of all time PERIOD.......AND YES TALK ALL THE SHIT YOU WANT.......
I honestly prefer Ride the lightning over Master of Puppets

"the frayed collar of her old coat"

Love the sound of this album. Razor sharp metal.
I keep coming back to this song over and over. So so good.
first Metallca tape i ever owned. thanx jess. :-) this song..... hell..... my world
It’s crazy how this song describes our present
James Hetfeild is one Hell of an amazing lyricist. Metallica at their best were simply untouchable.
Never thought I’d head bang to wizard of oz lmao
What about West Side Story?
One of their AJFA killer and seemingly under appreciated songs. With “Frayed” the message and harmonic melodies are still as powerful today as they were back in 88’

Probably my favorite Metallica record, and one of my favorites in general. The riffing on this group of songs is just phenomenal.
Sooooo..... This song is avout the effects of eating an entire pack of oreos..... Thanks for making this song hilarious dad.... Just had to bring up that the begging of the song was originally an oreo commercial.... Then the entire song made sense..... Holy fucking shit i haven't stopped laughing since.... Kinda makes sense considering every metallica (the groups channel) song has an oreo commercial at some point during it.

INTO RUIN, I AM SINKING, HOSTAGE OF THIS NAMELESS FEELINGGGGG
Classic metallica. Multiple riff in one song
Best song of the album (tied with Dyer's Eve). Doesn't sound anywhere near 8 minutes long, despite the repetition of the main riff. Sounds like the theme of an epic boss fight in a videogame.
+Hitman GFX I'd add Eye of the Beholder to that list.
Harvester of Sorrow?
Metallica is all final boss music
Favorite Metallica song at the moment. Just sounds so evil, I love it.
Arguably my favorite lesser known Metallica song of all time from my personal favorite album. I found the cassette in a dusty Michigan Country attic and thought I had discovered the coolest underground music known to man....shortly afterwards I found out they were one of the most popular bands in the world and I was just late to the party.

oh shit, another one of my favorites
love this whole album and everything before it but this has always been one of my all time favorites.
The harmonic bend at 4:23 sounds EXACTLY like the one in the middle of the Blackened solo
Live the guitar riffs and Hetfields vocals. If Jason's bass was included, this song would have been beyond perfect.
I love how ”everyone's after me” changes to ”myself is after me”. The conclusion that a lot of paranoid people sadly won't arrive at.
Exactly mate
At 4:04 you can clearly hear a sample of why metallica is so big. That was a gift given by Apollo, the god of music, with perfection above human creativity.
That was amazing just blew my mind
I'm pushing 40 now, but Metallica saved my life when I was a teenager. My thoughts of suicide were channeled into physical fitness, allowing me to join the Marine Corps and become who I am today
So sorry you were incapable of listening to Metallicas song titled ' Disposable Heroes' . You useless servant, your blindman.. Or Black Sabbaths ' War Pigs' from 1971 how your completely brainwashed. Or Testaments ' Perilous Nation ' from 1986 how the US is a total L - I - E. Or Queensryche's song titled ' Revolution Calling' which basically staes the same thing, and thousands of songs and countless fantastic bands constantly told you that, yet you were never able to go deep within yourself to hear, completely blinded by the surface of images in your false ego - mind.

From Blind Guardians song titled ' Journey through the dark', to Queensryche's ' Road to Madness' , to Ozzy Osbourne's ' Shot in the dark, to Testament's song titled ' The Ritual' , to Neurosis song titled ' Origin' , to Iron Maidens ' The Red and the Black' ,, and on and on and on it goes through loads of fantastic bands, as Rock music was birthed from Psychedelic Entheogen plants in the 1960's, so of course Rock is totally loaded with infinite divine spiritual truths ;- )
The soldier helmet hanging on that useless cross on the left of Metallicas ' Master of Puppets' album cover is a nice touch, isn't it ?! You total brainwashed Fo - ol ! Truth !
Eye died loads of times in Ayahuasca ceremonies over the last 12 years. As Death is infinite Liberation and re-integration of the infinite 'Oneness' of Light, as All is One, as there is no such thing as death in true reality. Hence why bible - toters are Narc - issist control - driven war worshiping monsters that hate all life and humanity (as all they do in their useless existence is whip out threats and warnings to others in their complete self - hatred), and they hate the Earth/Nature (life), as they totally ha - te themselves. Truth !
The LED ZEPPELIN of Heavy Metal.
Love this song \M/
this song is the special one for me. when I don't have any thoughts about what I want to listen to now, I turn this song on. Its parts play in my head most of the time. I just can't have enough of it.
that's a shame that this song never gets played live :(
This song is so damn relatable
that metal was beautiful
Thank you for your service.
4:04 maybe my favourite Metallica riff of all Metallica songs. Also one of the most underrated riffs in history
Quite possibly their most underrated and honestly their best song imo. 4:04 plus is simply ear heaven
I think someone accidentally pressed the dislike button
+JJ238219 When will people realize?
+Alan Payne He was probably twisting under schizoprenia so the voices told him to dislike it.
that silly dave mustaine, getting drunk and pressing dislike on all metallica songs
I think he meant "Dis-I-Like" when he was drunk.
fuck them all!!!
Everything here is mastered. I had an ...and justice tape back at 1990 and I literally smashed it listening to it. I still have the tape. The odd smell of the cover is still vivid
Damn. I never realized how great this song really is until just now.
