A lot of people would say Puppets or Lightning was the best Metallica album, but I gotta wonder if they've ever really listened to Justice. By far the heaviest sounding album with some of the darkest lyrics, and most interesting instrumentation. The whole album is a punch in the face, and a fall into the abyss. Lady at work had a radio on a Cincinnati radio station that played "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sherhan every three hours. I memorized the lyrics to my three favorite Metallica songs ("Master of Puppets", "Sad But True", and "Harvester of Sorrow") and played the songs in my head when that damn Sherhan song came on. Only way I could keep my sanity.

I was watching tv a long time ago on saturday morning and two young girls where in a supermarket talking about how background music in shops was boring and how they where going to ask the shop manager to play something different , it was some sort of kids saturday morning programme . they gave the bloke a CD with a smile and off he went to put it on . the shop was a huge Sainsbury . a minute later harvester of sorrow came out full blast , old ladies hearts stopped beating , babies screamed , mothers cried and these two young girls just smiled . i have never forgotten it , so funny . the managers face was a picture ! I used to clean offices 8 hours a night and listened to the albums KEA to Black back to back. You can hear the progression of each album towards the sound of the Black album. People say that Black was the sellout album. I don't agree. It was Metallica's natural progression from AJFA. Load was a great album but ended that progression.

Hands down the greatest entrance music any fighter could ever choose. All through HS I would listen to this before every wrestling match and every baseball/football game to pump me up. It certainly did that...and still does today.
One of my favorite songs by the greatest band ever to grace the world with its sacred presence. There is simply nothing better than Metallica. They were popular when my big brother grew up (in the '80s). They were popular when I grew up (in the '90s) and they're STILL popular today. Just last week I went to the grocery store. Saw a probably 16-year-old chick at the register with a Metallica shirt on. I say "Nice shirt." She says "Best band of all time. What's your favorite song?" It's beautiful. They transcend time and even the great generational divide. I have no doubt they'll be popular when I'm long dead and buried. Rock on.

This song is so powerful not only because of the music itself, but because of the weight the lyrics carries. The song title is a perfect representation of what the song is about to throw at you. The darkest shade of black, pouring through speakers like the cries of forgotten souls.
Man, the first time I listened to intro of this song with headphones, and heard the ghastly breathing…. Gave me chills. Now, every time I hear it, still gives me chills. It sounds like the reaper coming to take someone’s soul to the afterlife.

I grew up listening to Metallica, AC/DC, Slayer, and many other fantastic classic rock / metal bands. When I became an adolescent I got into dubstep and I stopped listening to rock as much. But every now and then, when I need some heavy elements in my life, I know exactly where to go to get my metal fix.
I just recently listened to the entire album again, i’ve been listening to shortest straw and blackened for years but I completely forgot about this song. It’s one of my favorites of all their songs on any album

I used to clean offices 8 hours a night and listened to the albums KEA to Black back to back. You can hear the progression of each album towards the sound of the Black album. People say that Black was the sellout album. I don't agree. It was Metallica's natural progression from AJFA. Load was a great album but ended that progression.

They were popular when my big brother grew up (in the '80s). They were popular when I grew up (in the '90s) and they're STILL popular today. Just last week I went to the grocery store. Saw a probably 16-year-old chick at the register with a Metallica shirt on. I say "Nice shirt." She says "Best band of all time. What's your favorite song?" It's beautiful. They transcend time and even the great generational divide. I have no doubt they'll be popular when I'm long dead and buried. Rock on.

Man, the first time I listened to intro of this song with headphones, and heard the ghastly breathing…. Gave me chills. Now, every time I hear it, still gives me chills. It sounds like the reaper coming to take someone’s soul to the afterlife.

But every now and then, when I need some heavy elements in my life, I know exactly where to go to get my metal fix.
