    Can you imagine being stuck under snow for hours, and hearing potential sounds of rescue up above. It goes on and gets louder and louder. You grow more tired, but its unnoticed because hope is again flowing through your body. The snow gets brighter and the digging gets faster. Everything is clear and time slows down for a second as you soak in one of the greatest moments of your life...Then you see the teeth.

    Wolverines have full emotions just like people, in the wild they bond with each other and are very social in their family units, the dads are significantly involved in raising young along with the moms. Great video, love animals, they bring so much joy to our lives, Wolverines are amazing animals but they are not pets. Jasper was orphaned as his mom died at birth. Steve has done an excellent job at raising him and his brother, he showered them with love.

      This isn't a one-off. If the DOW wasn't filled with fanatics & control freaks, knowledgeable and capable people could be saving domesticated strains of various wild animals.
      Google the binturong (bearcat), they look similar but are tropical and much tamer than wolverines even wild. They've already been domesticated in Malaysia, but try getting one. They don't have much prospect as an invasive species in the states save perhaps the Gulf Coast, anywhere else gets too cold. They are somewhat dog-like in the behavior, are arboreal (you need an enclosure with vertical aspects) and omnivorous (mostly fruits).

      Have to be raised from early on apart from wild parents. They could be domesticated by crossing the friendliest captive animals, and continuing that effort for generations to come.

    • @99Plastics
      @99Plastics 6 месяцев назад

      The whole point of it and what the trainer has been showing for years is you don't need the animal to have genetics telling it to be friendly, you need a human to understand how to properly act around an animal and listen to it. Most people train animals through force and imposing their own will upon them, he shows that by not acting like a pos you can domesticate even the most chaotic creatures on earth. @@Saxxonknight

    Steve has done a fantastic job at raising the orphaned wolverines. He gave them lots of attention and love just like all higher mammals need including humans to grow up to be well adjusted, mentally and emotionally happy animals or people. Humans who receive the love they needed grow up to be empathetic towards all people and other species. People can heal from childhood issues.

    It was very exciting to see, but there's something ambiguous about "being rescued" by a wolverine: when a wolverine asks you over for lunch, you have to make sure there's something besides you to eat. I think it only works if the wolverine already knows you.

    • @Saxxonknight
      @Saxxonknight 7 месяцев назад

      That would depend on training. A breeding program to select for human affinity and trainability would yield suitable animals (but beyond the lifetimes of those who start the project).

      Jop3lius Well yes and no. Remember it expects to find a carcass, sure. But it is a predator and capable of killing things to eat if necessary. So that leads to the point. If it wanted to eat him, why did it pull him out and leave? Why did it save him, and not just end him and chow down? We can't know the creature's thought process, and there in lies the intrigue of it all.

    I hope they let trampers and climbers know about these animals....most avalanche-rescue teams use dogs, and having a wolverine ripping through the snow towards you after being disorientated and frozen half to death would put people into shock if they didnt know these were the animals coming to rescue them. It would be interesting to see peoples reactions, reading signs around the ski parks ect, saying "We use wolverines. Do not be alarmed o3o"
