  • This DIY preacher curl pad is a great option for saving space in the home gym. In this video I'll show you how to make DIY gym equipment at home. This design allows the preacher pad to attach to a power rack was a fun build and only took a few hours.
Radical KAIZEN DIY GYM merch is available here (www.bonfire.com/the-new-new-m...)
If you like this idea but don't want to build one, Titan sells a rack mounted preacher curl for $139 (www.anrdoezrs.net/click-10039...)
This project only took a couple of hours and the materials were relatively inexpensive. There are lots of options on what tools and materials can be used to make this, here’s what I used:

    Ryobi Nail Gun (amzn.to/3vgFUoL)
    Metabo staple gun (amzn.to/3yYqSWP)
    Materials:
    2 - 7ft 2x4’s
    48” x 24” piece of 1/2” thick plywood
1” dowel rod (this will vary depending on your rack) (amzn.to/2S9dwX4)
    1 7/16 in x 4 1/2 in rafter ties (amzn.to/3fYZbEI)
    2 1/2 in x 1 3/8 in mending plates (amzn.to/2RY4LPS)
    Titebond III wood glue (amzn.to/2S6BRNd)

    1/4 x 2 in lag screws (amzn.to/2TCK8ZT)
1 inch thick upholstery foam (amzn.to/3wRIDFp)

This is awesome, I miss doing preacher curls. I have a wooden rack built from 4X4's that I copied from a Buff Dudes video. So building more wooden attachments will fit right into the ambience of my garage gym!

Totally! That’s great to hear. My suggestions would be to use hitch pins or screws to attach to the rack, and add plenty of padding to the top to keep it comfortable.

Thanks for posting the video. You robably spent close to what the preacher curl attachment for my Titan T-3 rack costs. Pad on Titan attachment is attached to brace using metal dowels and is easily removable for storage. Sometimes re-inventing the wheel doesn't make sense.

Your videos are great, I'll be finishing your seal row bench as soon as the foam padding is delivered. You mentioned in this project that for racks with holes smaller than 1 inch, a bolt should be used instead of a dowel. Do you have a suggestion for how to secure that to the rack? I am thinking of using hitch pins but wanted to see if you had any suggestions. Thanks for making these videos. I have been doing DIY in my home gym for a few years, but your videos have opened up new ideas I hadn't thought of.

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  Год назад

Hey, glad you enjoy the channel! For 5/8” holes, hitch pins work well to keep it in place. I’ve seen quite a few people use them since I originally posted this video.
