excellent video, and an excellent professional in carpentry, I'm a carpenter and I'm from Brazil starting to set up my own home gym you helped a lot the fastest efficient stable and effective incline bench on RUclips, I made mine from any wood and used everything old wood screws old and I made improvised
That's neat - impossible to buy gym equipment these days, everywhere sold out due to gyms closing over Covid... and places that do have some for sale are selling at prices you'd expect for gold. Going to build my own few bits, this is a great place to start!
I've got a great idea for s video. You could make a video loading the bench up in incline position with weight to see how much it can take before breaking. However you'd be put of a bench lol. If you do this I would suggest angling the bench so weight would go flat on top of the bench when it is on an incline.
Someone kind of already did it here but would still be cool to see it's breaking point: instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODUyOTE3MzMwOTA4NTY0?story_media_id=2499811491982997534_47738636&igshid=16p9ohmaujc70
Some of the material uou mentioned is below. I am assuming those measurements are after you have cut them. My question is what do I go into the store and buy? Could you write up the uncut measurements of the woods you bought please? 1 x 1150mm (90mm x 90mm dressed pine) Upper platform bench frame. ▪︎4 x 300mm (90mm x 90mm dressed pine) Legs and leg supports. ▪︎2 x 760mm (40mm x 40mm dressed pine) Seat frame ▪︎2 x 400mm (30mm x 30mm dressed pine) Back support adjustment frame. ▪︎1 x 300mm x 350mm (19mm mdf panel) 1 x 300mm x 860mm. Hi did u end up making some adjustments for the seat? Or did u just leave it? Coz when doing exercises at an incline angle, the body would move forward a bit and if the seat was just flat, your body would slide along the seat. Thank you for this video btw, you helped me build an incline bench just like this one and your measurements were perfect so thank you

Hey Matt. I'm buying the wood this week. How strong is this bench. It looks very sturdy. Im 320lbs and will be benching 140KG on it. Would this bench be strong enough? I was thinking if not that I would create braces inbetween the framework of the top part of the bench.

Yes, you're right. They can be expensive. How about using a 10mm bit and just making the hole just a bit bigger by moving the drill around while you're drilling?😊
Maybe as a new video you can turn this very bench into a bench that also has a decline on it. Would be easy work for you and not so time consuming only requiring a few adjustments.

And if you are going to make one I would suggest putting some handles on the bottom of the bench so that when you put the bench in decline to do leg curls you have something to grab onto when you do leg curls. Lying leg curls are supposed to be done at a decline creating a pivot in the hips because this will help give a better contraction, the motion is easier to preform at this angle and you can use more weight.
