Wonderful. Classic. A routine he must have done thousands of times, each gag is perfectly timed with some wonderful lines to bring the house down. 😅😅😅😅
How I'd love to see film of him singing 'Sonny Boy'. The audience is at first awkward and embarrassed by the awfulness of this sad old geezer - until they gradually realise the joke's on them as his (fake) arms gradually get longer and longer.
Lovely man and a fun act, no such pleasures for us these days. Personally I never felt comfortable with his lips moving, it takes the edge an otherwise polished performance
It's the whole point. Powell built a career out being not very good at anything he took on. Check out his caretaker possibly one of the darkest sketches ever to emerge from the music hall scene.
Loved watching this, Sandy was my great grandad, so lovely to see this footage.
Ah, your great grandad was a wonderful talent
This kind of entertainment, innocent and pure, is a sadly missed thing. We who were there to enjoy this were truly privileged. Absolutely magnificent.
Yes, things in the past were always better 🙄

Absoloutly hilarious. Sandy Powell was one of a kind that you don't see today
Thank you for a wonderful lol posting.
Brilliant!! You can’t beat the old comics. Love Sandy Powell.
Sandy Powell - Ventriloquist (1970) 2054pm 15.5.23 no doubt performed on radio to much aplomb?
Sandy Powell on 'Parkinson' in the 1970s had me crying buckets with laughter.
Just searched for this after hearing the goon pod which mentioned Sandy. Cheered me up no end. Or is it, Hugh ugh ugh ugh.😅
Splendid, many thanks.
This man makes me laugh so much my belly hurts
Yes, I laughed, in spite of everything. Old time comics doing what they did best. Bless 'em.
1:53 "I've given the game away" always, always makes me laugh!
'Britain's Got Talent', they say. No, it no longer has talent quite like this. Comedy genius.
Sandy Powell - Ventriloquist (1970) 2052pm 15.5.23 i bet roy hudd enjoyed impersonating this chap...

Was this at the Royal Variety Performance?
I don’t think it was a Royal Variety Performance as Sandy didn’t bow to the Royal Box.
Sandy Powell or Michael McIntyre .... Hmmm THAT'S a toughie ..........
