Just finished the head gasket on my 2012 patriot in part thanks to your video. I've done 2 other head gasket jobs but never on a overhead cam and my manual along with watching your video helped me with the things to really pay attention to like the timing chain and how to properly mark everything so it's in time and it runs great with no coolant leaks anymore so thank you.
Glad I could help. Thanks for the support!
THANK YOU. YOUR VIDEO'S THE ONLY ONE WITH PROPER INSTALLATION AND INSTRUCTIONS. Will be doing my 2012 jeep compass tomorrow. Got the complete top set. Wish me good luck 🤞
absolutely the best video on this that I've seen
Thanks for watching!
thank you for this great video tomorrow i get my hands on my 2014 chrysler 200 it has a has a bad head gasket
Glad it helped. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!
Amazing job, learned quite a bit. Is that whine normal for the engine, reason I ask mine does on the chain side
I don't remember hearing a noticeable whine when filming the video. If you heard something in the video, it might just be bad audio. Thanks for watching!!
My radiator hose was cut.. didn't know it. Drove it.. overheated.. now i need . The overhaul.. i have money for a car.. but my husband died and i want to fix his car. 2014 dodge avenger . I'm gonna drop a pretty penny on the job . But I'm keeping memories.....
Harika bir video, bilgilendirmeler için ayrıca teşekkür ederim. Türkiye 'den yazıyorum .Dodge Avenger 2008 2.4 SXT aracım var ve silindir kapak contası değişecek.
Damn, amazing channel. Great information and really entertaining. Hope you are doing well.
I appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching!!
Эх, хороший двигатель ED3 :)
Легко ремонтируется, люблю его :)
Do you know why the oil pump timing matters? Does it time fuel injection or something?
Great vid! Thank You Sir!
Thanks for watching!!

I need your help
Cam specs y the most important part 😢
Ok so I'm not gna lie u make it look 10 times easier then it is lol....I'm at the timing chain and stuck bc I torqued everything down and my cams won't move freely a😮i also forgot to put assembly lube on any of the cams so can I just put oil on them to get them to move a lil so I can get my timing chain on or did I really mess up
9.5 Nm on the four intake and exhaust caps. There's a sequence: Exhaust first: Cylinder 3, then 2, then 4, then 1, outer to inner on each. Repeat same sequence on intake side. The front bearing caps are then installed last (the cap next to the phasers) and are 25 Nm spec, exhaust outer, intake outer, exhaust inner, intake inner sequence.
Thanks for this video!
Question: when checking the block for flatness, did the cylinders sit slightly lower than the deck? Currently have this problem - not sure if this is normal or if the block is warped. Right now I can get a 3 thou feeler under the straight edge. Going to try another feeler to see exactly how big that delta is
Nice Work, Question can I use same bolts if im just replacing the head gasket?
You should replace the bolts as well. Thanks for watching!!
Paycheck Monster this is an awesome video great job in explaining everything. Where do get your service manuals from?
good job very good video
Thanks for watching!!
What oil do you recommend? Its very hot here in israel 5w20 --5w30 mopar ,beautiful work
How much did you charge for that job out of curiosity?
If I remember right, I think it was about $2,700.00 or so. Thanks for watching.
I tried installed the timing chain on a 2.4L that did not have any colored links = huge fail. ordered the Cloyes chain with the colored links. made the job so much easier.
Thanks for watching!
great job man
Im about to tackle this project fir the first time in my jeep patriot. Can i reuse all the bolts or do they all have to be brand new?
Sir how do I get the cam. To sit flush on this caps had work done to the valve springs now the cam does not want to sit flush with the caps sodacams kind of wobbly can I still put the brackets on it and tighten them down
Hi sir
How many newton meters did you tighten the cam bolts?❤❤❤❤❤❤

I have the same vehicle. I checked my car and it seems to be leaking from what looks like a gasket or a seam. A friend told me it’s the bed plate that connects to the engine? Barely any oil is leaking is this fixable? And what’s an average that it would cost me.
Haapy New Year! What should the oil pump shaft sprocket be torque to?
How much will a job like this go for ?? Btw awesome video !
It really depends on different labor rates and parts availability. This one was around $2,500.00 If I remember correctly. Thanks for watching!!!
@@paycheckmonsterHai,may i know what type of torqe you used can share link tool where to buy
@@hawksmage260 The torque wrench is Snap On. You would have to find a Snap On Tool dealer around your location. Thanks for watching!!
so nice
Question: why did you change the water pump?
I ask because we did the headgasket and fixed a oil leak . Then putting everything back together ,we changed the big timing chain and tensioner .we didnt changed guides. And now the timing code p0016 and p0365 came up. Car starts and drives ,but lacks power and slips timing .
It didnt have a timing issue before head gasket
Thanks in advance
If I remember right there was a little coolant stain on the pump. Just replaced it because it was easy maintenance. Thanks for watching!!
@@paycheckmonster do you think the timing guides not being replaced could be the cause of the slipped timing ?
@@broncosforlife88 Not usually. My first instinct says it was maybe installed out of time. Hard to say without looking at it.
Hello, do you think you can write the exact torque
Can the factory bolts be reused?
Head bolts need to be replaced. Thanks for watching!
Thnks man for your vid it's so helpful and u so detailed in every part of the rebuild I'm also working on my 2010 dodge caliber recently bought a sub assembly the previous engine had a small hole coursed by a conrod cap bolts come off and one of the bolts hit the block n made a small hole
Keepup the good work your earn one subscribe n follower from me thnks a lot will also Com back with my results after I'm done all the way from south africa
I appreciate that. Thanks for watching!!
Why did you replace the head instead of sending the old one to a machine shop? And is removing the balance shaft chain necessary for headgasket replacement?
I think I mentioned it the previous video, but the machine shop I was using went out of business. There was only one other shop near me and they are out for about 2 months. The head was not that much more in price and unfortunately times have changed quite a bit after the pandemic. There seems to be a shortage of labor everywhere in the automotive industry. I felt the best option was to just order the remanufactured cylinder head and try to get the vehicle back in service as soon as I could. You wouldn't have to remove the balance shaft chain to do this job. I only pulled it off because it was apart for so long and was sitting in a parking lot. I wanting to make sure everything stayed clean as possible. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.
@@paycheckmonster thank you for the reply. Im about to do this job, customer just approved it. Can these tensioners be put in a vice and collapsed back in safely? Dont want to damage the tensioner.
@@tfastauto7719 The primary tensioner yes. Check out time stamp 45 min mark for the balance shaft tensioner. If the plunger gets flipped side ways you could cause damage. I would disassemble it to make sure. In theory it should stay in place if the tensioner does not extend to far. I had to check just for piece of mind.
Great Video! I tried to replace my head gasket on the same vehicle but haven't gotten it right. What could I be doing wrong?
Hard to say without knowing the situation. Thanks for watching!!!
same i did the head gasket and now car runs fine for a hour or two then smokes really bad like its burning coolant but after i shut if off for a sec and drive a little it stops again
@@benchmarktv2582 It should be smoking still. Did you have the head checked for cracks?? It's hard to say what it could be without really checking it out for myself. Good luck. Thanks for watching.
@@paycheckmonster i completely checked the head but i didnt have it resurfaced i just cleaned the old material off slapped a new gasket in there and sent it so i believe the head is slightly warped
@@benchmarktv2582 Hopefully you get it figured out. Good luck!!
I wish you lived in miami
How to clean the block?
I us the 3M Roloc Bristle Disc on an angle die grinder. That works really well. Thanks for watching!!
