Hi Andrew, about the Red Dot... I just sold my X100V and upgrade to my future X100VI. But while I'm waiting on my pre-order, I'm still contemplating if an upgrade to the Q3 instead would be a better decision. The X100VI has now the same 40MP 6 stops stabilized sensor and X-processor 5 as the X-T5. Is in your opinion the Q3 still worth it? Lot's of greetings, Dennis 🇱🇺
Leica has a straight out of the camera look that’s hard to describe. You’re also buying it because of what Leica means to you - the build, the brand, the fact it doesn’t depreciate, the Lux or Cron (on the 43), the butter smooth focus, the fact the digital crops imitate the frame lines on an M and much more.
Just sold my X100V to put towards a Q3. I got it at launch; I agree it's a great little camera, but I've been waiting for the Q3 since...well since I got the 100V. 😆 I also had some issues with the heat shielding that required a trip to Fujifilm (though it was fine after that). I preordered the Q3 on launch day, and while I may be waiting awhile, I'll probably be using an X-T4 with 35 prime in the meantime when I want that fixed-lens feel.
I will get a Q3 as soon as I can find one and will use it for the rest of my life, like a Ferraris, it doesn't matter how old they become they keep their value and coolness.

Just bought it 2 days ago .. thank you for your nice review .. will start my journey with Leica with Q3 and will try to capture the beauty of Abu Dhabi and Dubai with it
I have a travel photo question. I have a Canon R6. I am going on a family trip to Paris and am looking to take the best and most compact camera as possible. I was looking to rent the Q3 simply for quality and compactness. Would you recommend the Q3 to rent and take in place of my R6 with a 24-70 L. Thank you in advance 👍
I took my R6 m2 with 24-70 to Paris. I now own Q3 43. The lens and the camera you own is excellent. The only draw back is, it is heavy, very visible, specially when you zoom in. Q3 would would do all the job, half the weight. Take both and see which one you would prefer for the future trips.
@ I ended up just taking my R6 w/ the 24-70. Very happy with the results and I was able to save money on the rental. Overall, I would prefer something more compact in the future, but it all worked out in the end.
Red Dot I love how you review the Leica Q3 but keep mentioning the Fujifilm X100V! 😅 How would you rate the low light capabilities of the Q3? Did you have issues with LED lights, like banding?
Hi, I'm particularly interested to know which camera you used to capture the shot at the 0.05 mark right at the beginning. I really appreciate that cinematic touch. :)
i wish leica added a xpan aspect ratio way to aim shoot and capture ... this 60MPx sensor would allow what fuji did with their medium format camera allowing to shoot in panorama mode.
I love my Q2, it's a sensational camera. Obviously, the Q3 has a little more 'advanced' technology and a flip up screen, but I can't see any real benefit to "upgrade" for the way I shoot. That said, I also own a Fujifilm XT-4 and a X100V...and, truth be known...I absolutely love those cameras as well and typically find myself grabbing the X100V on my way out the door.
@@AndrewEthanZeng It's hard to say exactly, but I think it boils down to two factors; handling and speed. While the Q2 has that 'special' Leica feel about it, the ergonomics of the Fujifilm cameras are exceptional. Anyone who shoots with the XT series or the X100V knows exactly what I'm talking about. They handle extremely well and, for me, I have an intuitive muscle memory with them where I just don't even need to think about making adjustments while shooting in a fast environment. The other factor is speed. I am not referring to its ISO or low light performance, but, rather, how quick and versatile they are to use. Now, having shot with the Q3, you know that it is a camera that requires you to S-L-O-W down. Yes, it can be, and is often used as a street 'run and gun' camera, but the Q2 and the Q3 are better suited for slower shooting environments. In a sense...and this is not meant to sound snobbish...they are a 'thinking man's camera'. They urge you to shoot at a slower pace. Also, with the huge mega-pixel count, focus and shutter speed are critical for getting tack-sharp images. Don't get me wrong, I love my Q2 and I use it often, but there is no denying that Fujifilm is something special.
@@AndrewEthanZeng X100V for me, I think the actual camera looks nicer and takes pictures that I like the look of more then the Q3. Also its cheaper. If I had unlimited money and could only get one I think I'd still choose the X100V though.
Andrew...You have been the first reviewer of the Q3 that gave me the one thing that I require from a camera review...PHOTOS! Not just photos but bangers all the way around! Don't tell me what it can do, SHOW ME.
Red dot on being on waitlists for this camera. It is so dang hard to get one here so the expectation is high. Glad to see a new cam being tested on the channel every now and then seeing how you loved the X100V so much.
I was contemplating to get an X100v but it is a bit overpriced, so might as well stick to Leica. I did use the X100f before and it was a good everyday camera yet my ultimate dream camera to own is a Leica camera and I did the shift to the M10. It has been 4yrs and tried multiple M-lenses and some vintage ones as well, decided to go seamless with the Q. Just sold my M10 system and already pre-order the Q3, hope to get great things in this camera and hopefully Leica will add more film like presets.
With the price of the x100v you can spend a touch more and get the original leica Q which is great in every way except for slow but accurate AF. Can’t wait for the sl3! Could potential justify that one for work.
Great video. Excellent production value especially the night footage. I currently shoot with the Q2M and am curious to see how well the Q3 renders black and white. I’m on the waitlist so hopefully I’ll find out soon. (Pro tip: both the hand grip and thumb grip are huge ergonomic improvements.) Red dot! 🔴
B&W is rendered really, really nicely...but it definitely won't eclipse an image sensor designed exclusively for grayscale (your Q2M). Thanks for watching!
Hey there- I have the Q3 and the Q2M and while the Q3 is amazing , it still cant compete with the tonal range of the Q2M for BWs. It can on SOME images, but most times I just cant duplicate those grey tones.
If you have a Sony A1, then no justifable reason tbh - except maybe if you really want a travel-friendly Leica camera or particularly love the Leica look
Great review Andrew! Really appreciate that you actually used the camera for a month so we get some actual pros and cons of the camera from using it for an extended period! Really curious about the video features too. The 8K footage definitely looks a bit shaky, wonder if it's better at other resolutions.. Red dot ;)
Thanks Meos! I always try and give factor a real-life amount of time to give you guys an honest opinion vs just rushing it out for viral content. 4K is just as shaky tbh, you'll need a gimbal for any serious video on the Q3
@@AndrewEthanZeng The work you put in definitely shows in your content! I would mostly use a tripod but using a gimbal is kind of a dealbreaker (too big for onebag-travel) for me. My search for the 'perfect' travel/youtube/stills camera continues.. Perhaps the A7C II..? Thanks so much for getting back to me! :)
what a funny old question. I bought a Q3 and not the combo you suggested, for three reasons. 1 : I wanted a 28mm lens. 2 : I want autofocus and some video capability, and 3 : it is much more 'affordable' to buy the Q3, which includes the lens in the price
Awesome video! I appreciated the pros & cons being included given that most people just list pros… especially for Leica. I think the Leica Q3 looks amazing but the price tag has priced me out for the moment. I already have the X100V as my EDC camera so at least I have one piece of unobtainium 😂

Just an x100v… or now the x100VI. The high mega pixels, weight and slower processing creates quality of life issues. The trans 4 generation used in recent Fujis are a fast and useful combination.
Exhausting listening! Any chance you could consider taking a breath between phrases? It may well help this listener enjoy much more what I found to be a great users review. Thanks for posting your experience with the Q3. I’ve have just managed to grab one for myself. Cheers. 😅
I have A7R5 but sometimes it feels too bulky to bring around... So I preordered the Q3 after having some hands on time and taking sample photos.. It will be my first Leica
Please see my comment above. I have a Q2, M11 and a Sony a7rv. Trust me, the Q isn’t small to be pocketable, slap the 28mm f2 on your Sony and the difference in size is negligible, saves you 5500 as well.
I had a Q2 Monochrom, and found it to be a high quality and fun camera. I only sold it because I ordered an M11 Monochrom. Next year, I plan to get a Q3, because I miss the look and feel of the Q design.😊
I have an M11, Q2, and SL2-s - just staying this to say that I’m a Leica fan. However, I also own a Sony a7rv and I can say that it is a much more capable camera than any of the the Leica I own. Slap a 28mm f2 on the Sony and the photos that come out of it cannot be discerned from the M11 which has the same sensor of the Q3. Leica cameras are like a cult, and people buy them just for the sentimental value they get from using them and nothing more. If you have the money then good for you, if you’re a photographer than wants the best output and bang for your buy, then look elsewhere.
Hey, I'm on the waitlist for a Q3 near my local Leica store. This will be my first Leica, so I'm excited! Do you recommend buying a lens filter for this camera? I want to buy a case and strap for it on day 1, but was wondering given the price it costs, if I should buy a UV filter to protect it?
I think for the price tag, not worth it maybe, just go for Q2. I mean 6k usd is a lot of money. One can buy a good performance share on the stock market or an old rolex submariner. It be worthed if one make videos or pics for clientele.
I’m curious about the learning curve in editing Leica raws? The reason I ask is because I’ve seen some images on the dpreview and I wasn’t impressed! Also, don’t fool yourself into believing that a cropped digital image from the Q3 will ever compare to the separation and bokeh of a camera using interchangeable prime lenses!
It definitely doesn't compare but it's a great all-in-one option, particularly if you want to one-camera when travelling. Also yeah, it's been an adjustment to Leica's raw files, but a rewarding one
Many thanks for sharing your first time with Leica experience. It would be great if could do a set up guide for the first time users; how to use manual settings vis vis auto ones, etc. What pitfalls to expect and such
This is a really interesting video, thank you for the in-depth review! I have been looking at Leica for a while now, mainly their M-series. I feel comparing Leica and Fuji is great example of building an iconic brand. Although I think I would love the Fuji just as much, I really "just want" a Leica. One question though, how do you feel about the weight of this camera? My current camera is a Sony a7III with the 24mm 1.4 GM and it is just really heavy to carry around... Oh, and RED DOT!
Hey Jasper! So I feel like Leica did a perfect job making the Q3 light enough for travel yet heavy enough to feel super high-end and durable. It's all the details that add up to the aspirational quality of a Leica
It’s so expensive because of the brand name, the build quality and… that lens. I’m trying to find a way to buying a Q3 which that means selling all of my cameras (including my beloved X100V) to part fund it, and with some savings too. I’ve owned Leica cameras before, the D-Lux 5 and an M9 with a Leica 35mm lens but sold them a long time ago… it was desperate times… but they had to go.
Nice review, thanks! I always shoot with Fuji, but unfortunately no rangefinder cam is actually in their portfolio. So I am also on the waiting list for the Q3...
To be fair, the Leica shots are completely RAW and unedited whereas the Fuji shots have the applied Fujifilm Simulation (so in ways are colorgraded/edited)
Nice review. I was wondering what SD card are you using and what are your resolution settings (MP, JPG+RAW?). Ex-owner of a Q2 for 3 years, the ergonomics of Q series is very well thought out, I see Q3 as an improvement with all the in camera charging and tilt screen for example.
For the first tyme in my life I have some disposable income. I am torn between this Q3 & the new Hassy X2D 100C with their 35mm lens. The one good thing I won’t have to worry about is quality, cuz in this day & age most things now are well built! Loved the video & the night shots. I mostly shoot portraits with flash & friends cars in low light. I love the RED DOT 🔴 camera, I just wish it was muted or black, or on the box only.
I often pair my M11P with the 28mm Summilux. Essentially an uber priced Q3...😂 Fortunately... I have other lenses. And another factor, no video. Less is more. Great review. I like the positive spin, too often reviews are overly focused on the negative as if they are desperate to avoid being labelled fan boys. Red Dot.
Have try to manipulate your raw Sony images files to least look "similar" (*) to the Leica look? With so many modern software packages and many hours of hardwork and good command of the software packages I am sure you can. So why spend so much money. If you want create your own individual create style through these software packages and there you have it. Those who loves the Leica look and style and spend little time creating their own, and has plenty of money to spend and show to friends they can own it. I can afford a Leica but refuse to buy it cos I don't believe in the previous statement. * NOT identical or close to the Leica images.
📷Let me knowwhich photos you liked more in the video? The Leica Q3 or Fuji X100V shots?

@@prathamkamath8280 best camera I ever used. I also like the new Sony color, they’re pretty neutral and can be tweaked to anyone’s liking.
You should try the compact 24 2.8, 40 2.5, or 50 2.5 lenses with your A7R5.
Red dot! Got mine preordered and now just waiting!!! 🤪
Time to stock up on accessories!
I had a Q2 Monochrom, and found it to be a high quality and fun camera. I only sold it because I ordered an M11 Monochrom. Next year, I plan to get a Q3, because I miss the look and feel of the Q design.😊
Ouch at the premium price tag but Leica Q3 delivers a shooting experience and image quality that justify the investment!😁
RED DOT!
Are you a fuji user before?
such a nice red dot review!
My Rolex AD sells Leica 😂 Nice Black Bay btw
@@AndrewEthanZeng That’s very helpful. Thank you!
Some people wear a 10k watch, others a 10k camera. The latter is far better value.
Some wear both 😉
exactly! just sold my Rolex to buy it.
Nice review, thanks! I always shoot with Fuji, but unfortunately no rangefinder cam is actually in their portfolio. So I am also on the waiting list for the Q3...
Q3 isn't a rangefinder.
Xpro/x100 series are more of a rangefinder-style camera than a q... Leica do however make iconic and overpriced ACTUAL rangefinder cameras though!
Get a thumb grip. It is a game changer.
Thanks so much! 🤗🌞
Nice review totally agree..
Might be clearer to say $6K USD which is $9K+ AUD
I like the Fuji shots more. 🤔
All your negatives about the camera is a plus to me. Not a Fuji fan had 2 in the past they feel like amateur cameras.
Yes ,,and with taxing menus
Nice photos, and watch reference
Red Dot! so will i get one for free now?
Red dot. And yes, Leica's lenses just make photos that look a little different. You have to use one to appriciate it.
If only you could find an X100V for 1/5th the price of a Q3.
One of the best poison video 😂
At this price point, there should be zero compromises and zero gripes. Not worth it in my opinion.
Sony A7CR - interchangeable lens just is a far better option. Take what I say with a grain of salt please. 🫣
We forget Hasselblad ? ... Think a better buy and use, if spend all this money, ... ;)
The Fuji is not full frame
Red dot there buddy!
I am going to wait 10 years and buy a used Q3 to save at least $300 off current retail price.
I would look for a Q2 in good condition over this and save a couple grand.
Smart, and you get cmosis sensor
I bought the Q3, took the plunge! But it doesnt arribve til December 😪😪😪
If it is worth having, it is worth waiting for as they say!
How much really buttery bokeh you get with 28mm lens lol and to say you can't reproduce it with a GM... lol I'm sorry but this is BS
yes, I own three GM lenses (24mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.4) and would argue that all three produce better bokeh in every way.
Put another card slot in it and you have a camera for weddings
hello great video
Thanks for watching!
1 year after... still sold out :(
