Hey I just want to thank you for getting my husband all hyped up about fishing again. He is disabled and had gotten away from one of his passions. Then he started watching your videos and now you are all he talks about. LOL He really enjoys your videos. So thank you again it does my heart good to see him so happy.
Oh my gosh this comment just made my day. Thank you so much for sharing. Feel free to reach out any time - I would love to do something special for your husband to keep him excited about the fishing. The support means the world :)
@@FishAnything just hearing back from you has made my husband's day. He watches you all the time. He thinks you're just awesome. Thank you very much Ethan you have really made a change in his life. He is working on getting some mule jigs. God bless you and your family and as always you are in our prayers.
I am glad to see that companies are starting to appreciate your channel. I appreciate that you stay unbiased and modest. That is hard to find on the internet.
After fishing mostly Medium - MediumHeavy rods for most of my life this year I finally bought my First 8 ft UltraLite Rod for Trout & Crappie and it’s probably become my favorite style of fishing, throwing a lot of Mini Jigs & Spoons has caught be a lot of Trout and surprisingly a lot of bass! I’ve been throwing some lighter Ned Rigs and have been absolutely been killing it at my lakes. Unfortunately the longer 8ft rod doesn’t do to well at my tiny creeks and I don’t have any shorter ultralite rods, too many trees and shrubs around for me to even cast. That rod would be amazing to use at any creek or even backpacking to my local mountain lakes. Anyway, great video and I’m excited for more!
Best of luck Scott! So happy to hear you are enjoying the UL fishing too. I will actually be giving away a few more UL rods on my IG so stay tuned there as well if you have one.
I just put together a new UL outfit...here in Southern Maryland I predominantly do inshore light tackle salt water fishing for Stripers, redfish, Speckled trout and big white perch...when the winter season drops the water temps below 50 degrees, I put my Hobie Outback up until Spring season. I get out the Compass and fish fresh water lakes...watched your channel for the first time and learned a bunch (I am 76 tons of offshore big game experience- but monster fishing no longer appeals to me) my new outfit is a Legalis LT 2000 with 8# braid on a BPS 6'2" panfish Elite light power, fast action. Our local lakes are fairly small impoundments of less than 1800 acres, fairly shallow but with a few deep, pockets of 25' (+). Fish species are chain pickerel, crappie, largemouth bass, pumpkinseed and bluegills...twice a year the state stocks with "put and take" rainbow trout of approximately 1 lb. Size...14-16" fish...a few trophy fish are mixed in the stocking including what they call "Golden trout. I have been looking to order your mule jigs and soft plastic baits, but notice you use extremely light heads and tiny plastics. My UL outfit would have a tough time tossing and effectively fishing these. What do you recommend for my setup? I was thinking 1/16 as the lightest jig, but I really have no piint of reference if that is optimal. Thank you for any assistance you may have for my post. Ron Ault
Hey there Ronald! I think your setup will cast anything over 1/32oz effectively. I would probably select some 1/32oz Mule Jigs for the Bluegill/Sunfish (but they will catch all species) and the 1/16oz and 3/32oz for the Crappie/Bass/etc. The Donkey Tail Jr and Horse Fly pair up best on the 1/32oz whereas the Mule Minnow 2.2 or 3.2 will work on all of those jigs. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for the support!
Very glad to hear that TFO reached out to you; thanks to both of you for doing this. I already own a TFO trout / panfish rod, so not interested in the giveaway, but thought it worth mentioning that I bought my 6-footer based largely on your review that you linked in the description. These are beautiful and great-feeling rods; I could easily see my 6-footer becoming my favorite UL rod. The "How It's Made" video for the TFO conventional rods is fascinating; it really shows the level of care that goes into each one. Thanks for another great video, Ethan!
That is so awesome. Really enjoyed reading this comment and reply. That very rod is quickly becoming one of my go-to setups. Hope to hear some fun fishing stories from you in the future Olde School :)
Because of you I’m doing more light and ultralight fishing and enjoying it more. Thanks for all the hard work you put in to make your videos and look forward to each and every one.
A lot of trout stocking in state lakes in my neck of the woods. This year hasn’t worked out but when I’ve been it’s a good time. Thanks to you (and your wife) for the videos with a baby in your life.
You're right about the bigger browns feeding on the smaller ones. For several years I've thrown the same lure for consistent brown trout. A 1/4oz Joe's Flies inline spinner. I have a few videos showing what color and techniques. Basically, gold blade and brown body. Gold and black will get hit as well. If I switch to a chrome blade I mainly catch rainbows. I have to say though, where I fish,
Hadn't fished in ten years because I just couldn't seem to make the time available. Started watching your channel and realized I had lots of locations close to me and bought a few ultralight rods and reels. Tried a St Croix after one of your reviews and it had been a great rod. I seem to use the chartreuse donkey tail jr and the ranch hand horse fly most often and have caught bluegill, bass and catfish on these. Got the purple jig heads coming and can't wait to try them out. Spent many evenings watching or rewatching your videos. Glad you have time to fish with your new addition to the family. You are just beginning to find out how little time you will get to call your own.
John, this comment made my day. So happy to hear that you created time for yourself to get out and fish. It is so dang important we take time for ourselves to enjoy what we love. Keep it up my friend!
I love using my cellilo rods. In fact I used my 6’6” to catch some crappie today. I like them so much that I own 5’6” and 6’ as well. I wouldn’t mind trying out TFO rod. Dinks or not at least you’re catching!
Have been fishing ultralight for over 40 years. Built rods with g loomis blanks back in the day when they sell just the blanks. My wife and I use ugly stik 4ft. 8" howald rods today. Have several and they are almost impossible to find now. Ebay being about the only source. Never used a TFO rod but they look great. Keep going forward with the channel and again, thanks so much for the entertainment and tips. Praying for you. God bless this Christmas season.
Thank you so much Brent! Hope you have a most blessed Christmas season as well. Glad to hear you are a total Ultralight nut like me :) sounds like I could learn a lot from you!
Hey Ethan. Always enjoy your videos. You are also one of the very few that promotes and reviews rods 6’ and under. I’m a huge proponent of shorter rods and there versatility. They need more love. Keep it up.
UL rods on the short side are my favorite for exploring small creeks and ponds with which most people don't bother. The smaller size is helpful for both hiking in and negotiating along the bank. Also, my grade-school age kids can handle a 5'6" wayyyy better than a 6'. Love your enthusiasm and kid-friendly videos - keep it up!
Those fish were most likely Wild Browns. As for rod size I'm what one would call a Trout Bum and Guru. I'll make 80+ trips a year and catch over 1000 annually. The 5 ft. 6 inch size is perfect for Trout. If you could only have 1 Trout Rod it should be that size. Good video and keep them coming.
Wow, I'm happy to hear TFO reached out to you. I have a fly rod made by them, and it is really nice. Ultralight fishing is a ton of fun, and something to be enjoyed year-round!
I know you enjoy using a lot of light tackle fishing gear, so you should give these a try. They are called 1/32 oz vmc pro series crayfish jigs and the 1/32 oz vmc swim baits. Both are good for trout, crappies, panfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass and even perch too. Nice fish catching there and that rod and reel spinning combo is excellent. Another great video
Watching your videos has taught me a lot about ultralight fishing i live in the south so there isn't a lot of trout fishing where I'm at, but catching bluegill and crappie on 2 ib test is some of the best fishing I've ever experienced
Been watching your channel for a few months now and you have have honestly made pan fishing look fun and I have got into lately. ( little late in the season lol) but I still haven’t caught a trout in 26 years of fishing
Great to see you using different lures and hunting after different species. It’s always good to learn what works under different conditions. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Ethan for all your content. I started bass fishing with M and MH rods and after watching you and trying UL fishing I’m hooked and my girlfriend and I travel to fish different ponds and creeks around the country. Thanks for all your inspiration and encouragement that not all fish have to be big to be fun. Tight lines
Love watching your videos. Just picked up my first ultralight rod on Black Friday to go with a reel that's been in the closet for far to long. Been a largemouth angler over here in Southeast Michigan for decades but looking forward to focusing on panfish next year. Keep up the great work.
Best thing to do while I wait for my new mule jigs, plastics, and my next trip is to watch your channel. You've gotten me into bluegill fishing and crappie fishing as I used to only used ultralight for trout. Love the videos!
Love the trout fishing videos. Found your channel few years back when you were trout fishing! Since then been a big fan and picked up a ton of tips for bass fishing. Keep up the great work.
Really cool that TFO reached out to you. They are a really good fishing brand. I have a TFO fly combo and i have always wanted to see how their rods are and try it out and most likely catch my first trout. I would love to use that rod for creeks and just have fun with it. Great video can’t wait for more.
Been watching your videos all week, subscribed, placed an order, and am super psyched about all the winter fishing you do bc I am inspired & excited to be following suit in the next cpl weeks. Still deciding on which UL set ups I'm going to get so gonna take out my light gear, the new UL wisdom gained over this past weekend. I'll be bug-jigging the creeks and ponds around here and make the best out of these oncoming winter months in Chicago-area. I was getting bummed about winter after a fantastic dink-filled summer, so thanks for great content & can't wait to try out your products!
Love that you’ve hit trout season. These videos are always cool to transition into something a little different. I’m super jealous that we don’t have any trout streams around here.
Any day fishing is a good day. Brown trout are beautiful, even at 6 inches. Thanks for being an enthusiastic champion for ultralight multi-species fishing!
Mmmm that's a beautiful rod! What I would not give to have that to replace my old 5' 6" crappie ultralight! Whether I win the giveaway or not I will definitely keep that in mind for a new rod! Great video also, those browns are so fun, we have soooo many spots here in Colorado that look very similar to where you were fishing, those little creeks are the best! I have gotten some nice little browns like those on some live worms and small dries before there and there blast on 2-4lb test. Keep up the good work and the good videos Ethan and have a great Holiday season!! 🥳
Very cool! I am mainly a bass guy, but have done some small stream trout fishing. I've been thinking about getting out and exploring some of the smaller trout streams in our area. This rod would be perfect! Thanks for the chance!
Didn't realize this was a giveaway until you mentioned it 10 minutes in, lol. I came to watch you fish for trout. Love your videos! Ultralight rods look super fun. I always use my dad's old bass fishing rods, so I'd be keen to try an UL.
Haha thanks so much! UL is a blast! Best of luck on the giveaway. Stay tuned to my instagram if you have one too because I will do more giveaways there.
Thanks for the review and the commentary about the benefits and disadvantages of shorter rods versus longer rods. As with many things using the right tool for the job can make all the difference. Love your “mostly “ lead-free mule jigs!
I appreciate the nuggets about different species' behaviors/habitats (undercut banks, coverage, the Weekend Staycation, etc) spread throughout your videos - they help me avoid "cast-and-pray" fishing and be more directed. I'm sure there were some 5 Minute Fish Talks of old that touched on this, but it could make for a good dedicated micro-series (or tied in with your species series like Pursuit of a 10).
I just started light fishing again, I'm really enjoying your channel. Great fun videos even when you catch dinks. It's always a good day if you're out on the water.
Got into your channel for the trout fishing last winter, so excited to see it coming back on. Really appreciate the variety and education you provide here. If I won the giveaway, first lure I throw on it is the mule jig and donkey tail jr !
My girl and I always look forward to new Ethan videos. Thanks for making such great content. And such a great fish catcher in the Donkey Tail. Caught a 14” rainbow trout on one two weeks ago.
I own the 6’6” TFO Trout&Panfish rod . I use it mainly for fishing micro jigs , 1/80 and 1/100 size , under a weighted float for panfish . I believe the 5’6” is more suited to throwing lures and jigs in the 1/64 and larger range . Been looking at the 5’6” model , but it’s been out of stock most places I’ve looked.
Awesome video! I like to trout fish especially in the colder months but I haven't had the pleasure of using an ultralight rod yet. I just repurpose my bass fishing rods and add weights to whatever rig I'm using lol. Catches fish though 👌 thank you for the opportunity
Thank you James! Sounds like you make what you have work which I totally respect! Best of luck in the giveaway and stay tuned to my instagram as well where I will do more giveaways this winter :)
Want to thank you for getting me back into rod/reel fishing (been using a light rod for now and want to get into ultralight soon enough)! Has been awesome watching you and has me getting up and going back out everyday lately lol
Big fan of TFO, I've had multiple fly rods for hill country bass fishing. I'm excited to see their UL conventional being gout to good use during trout season! Greetings from Texas!
You Texans are about as loyal as they come :) I hear really good things about their fly gear but I don't do a whole lot of that. Thanks for the support Jorge!
Always enjoy your videos, and love using the mule jigs and the donkey tail junior. Great stuff, and your plastics last forever. Bring us more Bluegill videos!!!
Wow, I love it! I have 2 Okuma Celilos and they're fine, but this is amazing. I see what you mean about the fast tip, I've had a hard time casting lighter lures but this will do nicely!
Just found your channel over a month ago and can’t stop watching your videos. The content you put out makes me wonder why you don’t have 10x more subscribers than you do. Also just received my Mule Fishing order yesterday and already caught a small bass with them in the short time I had to fish today. Can’t wait to put them to good use again next time I’m out fishing.
Than you so much Adrian! I am very thankful for each and every person that does click subscribe. Means the world - holler if you ever have any questions :)
Used to fish a little ultralight outfit in the Bighorns, worked great for stalking trout in small streams with lots of brush surrounding them. My fly rod would always catch in trees when i was creeping up to the next fishing spot. Always enjoy your videos!
Hey man. Great video! I have always been a huge fan of ultralight fishing, and its great to see folks like you promoting this awesome kind of fishing. I do have one question for you: what is the biggest fish you ever caught on an ultralight?
Honestly I am not sure. Probably the pike I caught in a recent "The Pursuit of a 10" episode on my channel. I caught that big ol' slime critter on 2lb test!
Keep up with the lightweight rod I use 5.6 rods for years and they work great I remember when all the bass pro push 5.6 rods today 7 to 7.6 rods. but my rod s are over 35 years old and still in great shap and this year I caught a lots of bass cat and bluegills. keep up with you fishing it is good for you...
You create one of my favorite channels man! UL fishing is so underrated. I’m always adjusting/perfecting my rod arsenal and I love the details you add to your reviews. I have the TFO Trout Panfish 6’6” Light action that is pretty sweet. I’m looking to pick up an ultralight version but can’t decide between the 6’ or 5’6” for creek fishing. If you could keep one just for the creeks which would it be?
If you are specifically in creeks and there is a lot of overhanging limbs and brush, I would go with a 5'6 rod. Personally, I think the 5'6 13 Fishing Defy Silver for $50ish would be my choice. But if you don't have too much brush to navigate, you could definitely get away with a 6' rod which will give you just a little more leverage and casting distance. Thanks for the kind words :)
I love my 5 1/2 ft ultra light outfit. I use it a lot tossing tiny jigs up under shady overhangs in the summer on the local lakes here. I catch lots of bluegills, and the occasional bass, even a catfish or two doing that.
I have the 6-foot TFO ultralight and love it. I paired it with a Quantum Vapor and 4 pound mono. I can launch 1/8 oz lures a mile with that setup and 1/32 oz get out there good too. I could always use a backup! 😁
Thanks, Ethan for all your VIDEOS! TFO has always made great rods. It is cool they reached out to you to do this giveaway. I have really been enjoying your rod reviews and the TFO trout and panfish sounds like a very solid choice.
Nice seeing you get out and get after some trout Ethan. They were dinks but you caught a bunch. Really nice of TFO to reach out to you to provide this rod as give away prize. Cool beans 😎. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving buddy 🦃
I just received my 6’ TFO pan fish rod. I like feel and cast ability of it. My only complaint is the lack of guide inserts. I know it is an inexpensive rod but maybe have an insert in tip guide. I guess it is designed for small fish so there won’t be a lot of force on the line when it goes through the guideS.
Great to see a trout fishing video. In my area we have a lot of small streams with trout, so this was kind of my thing. 😁 Try the Rapala X-Rap in the smallest version, trout seems to love that. All the best Christian from Denmark
I’ve switched out my MH bass rods to lights and ultra lights. Oregon doesn’t get huge bass but man smallmouth on an ultralight is SO much fun. We’ve got some really good smallmouth rivers here. If you ever make it out this way I’d definitely be down to met up and show you. Keep up the good content 👍🏼
It's still nice to catch dinkers. My last few fishing trips I'm either getting skunked or catching 1 or 2 but that ultra lite rod looks nice. Have a blessed day
I have found the 5'6" length to be about right for the environment you show in the video. It is also good for the kid that is ready to step up from the cartoon spincast.
I love those blue fox minnow spins! They work great for steelhead too when they are feeding up. Ive caught a ton of browns and rainbows on them up north of M82
Been watching your videos for several months now, gotta say it's some of the best content out there. I love ultralight fishing and I'm a bluegill fanatic, can't wait to see the vid where you land a 10"!!! Also, your a fellow K State alumni, so you can't get much cooler!! Thanks for the great vids and the Mule gear is top notch!!
Haha at least you corrected yourself :) GO CATS! If it wasn't up to a random number generator, I would select you as the winner because, well, us Wildcats gotta stick together :D
I grew up fishing with a little heavier rods and I’ve always wanted to try out an ultralight. I’ve gotten into trout fishing and think a smaller rod would be much more fun/challenging.
I have really been eyeing some TFO stuff seems like real quality rods I haven't had the best of luck with trout this year but been killing the pan fish on the mule jigs and plastics!!
Great video or should I say tutorial thanks for doing the voodoo that you do it’s helped me in so many ways. I’ve carried out so many of your fishing tactics here in Arizona and almost all work like a charm thanks for keeping us guys and gals up to par with your fishing methods have a great day Ethan 😊
Glad I found your channel. After watching your videos, I ordered a Dobyn's Sierra 6'2 panfish rod. It just arrived yesterday, hoping it gets warm enough here in Indiana so I can take it for a test run. What size Mule jig do you think works best with the Dobyn's Sierra panfish rod? I am hoping to have a stocking full of mule jigs and donkey tail juniors this Christmas! Are you using a Daiwa Regal reel in this video? In your opinion what do you think is the best ultralight reel for under $100? Also thanks for giving all of us fans a chance to be part of the giveaway! Minus my Dobyns rod all of my gear is sized for bass, walleye, and pike so it is awesome to have a chance to win some ultralight gear. Definitely want to do some more perch, crappie, and bluegill fishing. My local pond is stocked with bass and bluegill. I usually go after the bass but some of the bluegill are dinner plate size and I have caught them on bass lures so I think I will be slaying them next year with the donkey tail junior!
Ohhhhh Scott you will truly love that rod! That is a perfect setup for the 1/32oz Mule Jig. I pretty much have one rigged on it at all times. Tight lines my friend - hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
@@FishAnything thanks for the reply! The rod is amazing, it has been warm enough the past couple days here in Indiana to do some fishing. So far I have caught a few large mouth bass with it and it handles them without a problem but they sure can make the rod flex. I let Santa (my wife) know that some 1/32 mule jigs would be great stocking stuffers so hopefully I have a stocking full of them!
so awesome for them to reach out to you! i've wanted to try TFO but already have rods to suit my needs. would be nice to have a friend of mine who has a hard time spending money on decent fishing gear
Big fan of TFO, have three of their rods from a ML, M, and H for myself and my uncle has one of their discontinued 7’6 H spinning rods that handles stripers like a dream. Can’t wait to get ahold of one of their ULs
There's a lot to be said for having the right gear for the right job, same can be said for fishing. Often times it's the difference between a frustrating day or a good day
@@FishAnything I added a rubber 1” chair leg end to the butt to balance it out. Works better with heavier jigs over the 1/32 level. I’ll probably go from 1000 Exceler to 2000 Revros to help even more.
I fished spinners for trout when I was in my teens here on the North shore of Lake Ontario. It never worked. Only big creek chubs! It’s like live bait or no catching fish on Ontario trout streams!
I just ordered the 6" 6' version, it should be here on Tuesday, I'm really excited! I'm just getting into trout fishing, I'm an avid bass fisherman and this season I wanted to start going after some trout! I've done ok, even caught an incredibly malnourised tiger trout!
At least you’re catching fish at your steam! I went today and caught nothing (not even a bite!). I love your vids and just subscribed! Tight lines man!! 🎣🎣
Love the the short ultralight rods, so versatile. Hoping to get into trout fishing at some point down here in southern Michigan around the Battle Creek/ Kalamazoo area
Very awesome Ethan! I love the shorter rods for sure for creek fishing. I've been using a 4'6" half of the summer, and I love it. I like to hike way back in the woods to get away from crowds, so the shorter rod is perfect for portability. Awesome video buddy!
you should try the berkley gulp night crawler. maybe the 15 cm and you them in half. trying to use a bullet jig head and hook the gulp as it can form (an L) letting the hook exiting on the tail part. the trout loves when the bait spin, and it creates vibration. you should try, i’m in italy and that thing can catch every type of trout, especially brown and rainbow. if you want an idea on how to hook properly the night crawler you can search it on YT cause my english is not that good. Btw love your channel and the quality of your videos is awesome p.s: the pink gulp is the most attractive one, even the natural one or as well, the white one
Ultralights are my favorite rods! Thanks TFO for the giveaway!
Heck yeah! You and me both :)

The Celilo is another solid option but I definitely think you'd love the TFO. Best of luck on the giveaway!
I had never fished with ultralight equipment until I subscribed to your channel. Now that's 75% of my fishing! Love the mule jig's, too.
Haha that is so awesome to hear!! Glad to hear you are enjoying the Mule gear :)
Man alive just made it! Man I gotta get on top of watching your videos instead of stockpiling then for rainy days.
Haha no worries! More giveaways to come.
Great content as always Ethan. Keep up the good work. Let's go team dink!
Thank you :) Hope all is well!
Keep it up.
Thank you Bill :) I am glad you are enjoying the content! Tight lines!
I think you are right with the nice brown trout probably feeding on the stockers instead of eating what you normally throw at them.
Need to get out there and toss the big stuff!
Yep, nice net in the Fanny back! At least you got a few. Surprised it is not snowing there also. Hope you had a great thanksgiving!
Thanks David! I had a very nice Thanksgiving. Hope the same to you!
Always enjoy your video contributions. You have introduced me to a whole new realm of fishing with Ultralights and I love it. Thx
Thank you Larry!
100% agree!! Thank you so much for the kind words and support. Tight lines James :)
That is epic! Thanks for sharing - always like hearing from serious trout guys
I'm glad to hear TFO reaching out and supporting this channel. Keep up the great work and content.
Thank you Dustin, I am very thankful for their kindness! Will do :)
Wow, I'm happy to hear TFO reached out to you. I have a fly rod made by them, and it is really nice. Ultralight fishing is a ton of fun, and something to be enjoyed year-round!
Heck yeah! Thank you, I was very happy to work with them on this project. Heard their fly rods are really nice! Tight lines :)
I will have to check those out thank you for the suggestion!
Watching your videos has taught me a lot about ultralight fishing i live in the south so there isn't a lot of trout fishing where I'm at, but catching bluegill and crappie on 2 ib test is some of the best fishing I've ever experienced
That is straight up fun right there! I am jealous - I wish I was in the south right now haha I don't like the cold!
Been watching your channel for a few months now and you have have honestly made pan fishing look fun and I have got into lately. ( little late in the season lol) but I still haven’t caught a trout in 26 years of fishing
Happy to hear you are enjoying this style of fishing. And you can do it, go get a trout!!
Great to see you using different lures and hunting after different species. It’s always good to learn what works under different conditions. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Jason, I am glad you enjoyed it!
Tight lines
This comment makes me very happy :) glad to hear you are enjoying the UL fishing. Also very happy to hear you enjoy the sport with your GF
Love watching your videos. Just picked up my first ultralight rod on Black Friday to go with a reel that's been in the closet for far to long. Been a largemouth angler over here in Southeast Michigan for decades but looking forward to focusing on panfish next year. Keep up the great work.
Largemouth angler turning into an UL nut? Sounds like me :) Best of luck!
Best thing to do while I wait for my new mule jigs, plastics, and my next trip is to watch your channel. You've gotten me into bluegill fishing and crappie fishing as I used to only used ultralight for trout. Love the videos!
That makes me so happy to hear! Hope you are loving the panfish life :)
Love the trout fishing videos. Found your channel few years back when you were trout fishing! Since then been a big fan and picked up a ton of tips for bass fishing. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for the ongoing support Joe! More trout videos coming this winter :)
I appreciate your enthusiasm for ultralight fishing. It is how I fished as a kid and your videos got me back into it.
This makes me very happy to hear! Thanks for the kind words Nick.
Really cool that TFO reached out to you. They are a really good fishing brand. I have a TFO fly combo and i have always wanted to see how their rods are and try it out and most likely catch my first trout. I would love to use that rod for creeks and just have fun with it. Great video can’t wait for more.
Thank you Connor - I was very happy to work on this project with them :) Tight lines!
Thank you so much for the kind words and support :) I hope you enjoy the gear. Holler if you ever have any questions that I can help with!
11:25 on 11/22/22?
Great to see you out in the midwest chill catching trout! Fish on!!
Follow me on Instagram if you have it! I do a ton of giveaways on my stories. Thanks for watching :)
Love that you’ve hit trout season. These videos are always cool to transition into something a little different. I’m super jealous that we don’t have any trout streams around here.
I am anxious to get back out there and search for larger brownies!
Online Outdoorsman introduced me to BFS fishing! Ever since then I've been having so much fun fishing. Thank you!
That makes me very happy to hear :)
Any day fishing is a good day. Brown trout are beautiful, even at 6 inches. Thanks for being an enthusiastic champion for ultralight multi-species fishing!
Thank you so much for watching :) Definitely agree!
Thank you very much JK! Best of luck - the winner will be selected this coming week!
@@FishAnything Sounds good! Thanks for offering things like this, it does make your channel so fun!
Very cool! I am mainly a bass guy, but have done some small stream trout fishing. I've been thinking about getting out and exploring some of the smaller trout streams in our area. This rod would be perfect!
Thanks for the chance!
Best of luck! I'll randomly pick a winner next week. Definitely encourage you to get out and explore the smaller streams :)
@@FishAnything Awesome! Followed!
Thanks for the review and the commentary about the benefits and disadvantages of shorter rods versus longer rods. As with many things using the right tool for the job can make all the difference. Love your “mostly “ lead-free mule jigs!
Haha thanks Thomas, glad you appreciate all of that :)
Yes yes yes, I shall continue to share as many tips as my brain allows lol
I just started light fishing again, I'm really enjoying your channel. Great fun videos even when you catch dinks. It's always a good day if you're out on the water.
Glad to hear you are also getting into it! Some of my favorite trips have been using the lightest dang gear I can find!
Got into your channel for the trout fishing last winter, so excited to see it coming back on. Really appreciate the variety and education you provide here. If I won the giveaway, first lure I throw on it is the mule jig and donkey tail jr !
That is what I like to hear :) Best of luck in the giveaway, I will randomly select a winner this week. Tight lines Nathan :)
Great video. Just started ultralight fishing. It’s a blast. Best type of fishing to just wet a line.
100% facts :) Glad to hear you are enjoying it!
My girl and I always look forward to new Ethan videos. Thanks for making such great content. And such a great fish catcher in the Donkey Tail. Caught a 14” rainbow trout on one two weeks ago.
So happy to hear it! Thank you very much Sam!
Thanks David! We have it in stock on our website right now!
Heck yeah, sounds like we fish very similar! Glad to see that TFO is back in stock :)
@@FishAnything just followed you on Instagram! Thank you!
Want to thank you for getting me back into rod/reel fishing (been using a light rod for now and want to get into ultralight soon enough)! Has been awesome watching you and has me getting up and going back out everyday lately lol
Thank you so much for the nice words. Glad to hear you are enjoying the sport :)
Big fan of TFO, I've had multiple fly rods for hill country bass fishing. I'm excited to see their UL conventional being gout to good use during trout season! Greetings from Texas!
Thanks neighbor!
@@TempleForkOutfitters anytime! I'm always proud to support Texas businesses 🤠
More bluegill vidoes to come I can promise you that! Thank you John :)
Wow, I love it! I have 2 Okuma Celilos and they're fine, but this is amazing. I see what you mean about the fast tip, I've had a hard time casting lighter lures but this will do nicely!
Heck yeah, this would be a nice little upgrade. Best of luck Daniel!
Exactly - I am not very good at fly fishing haha. Sounds like we have a similar style :) thanks John!
Heck yeah Gary! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks as always for sharing. Seemed like a cool little creek for fishing. Love a 5'6" rod and that TFO looks sweet!
Heck yeah Chad! Thanks for watching :)
Ultralight fishing is a blast year round! Temple fork outfitters makes a great rod so I've heard.
They are solid. Been a big fan of mine so far!
That sounds like an absolute blast! Can't beat it!
I have the 6-foot TFO ultralight and love it. I paired it with a Quantum Vapor and 4 pound mono. I can launch 1/8 oz lures a mile with that setup and 1/32 oz get out there good too. I could always use a backup! 😁
👏
That sounds like an epic setup! Best of luck on the giveaway. It will be randomly drawn this coming week.
Thanks, Ethan for all your VIDEOS! TFO has always made great rods. It is cool they reached out to you to do this giveaway. I have really been enjoying your rod reviews and the TFO trout and panfish sounds like a very solid choice.
Thanks Matthew!
Thanks Matthew! I have enjoyed getting to know the folks from TFO. Very nice company and hope to do more with them in the future :)
Love your channel ! I'm a avid bass fisherman but i always have a ultralight with me. You have got me wanting to UL fish more often. Thanks.
Heck yeah! I used to be a hardcore bass angler but I can't stop fishing UL haha
Nice seeing you get out and get after some trout Ethan. They were dinks but you caught a bunch. Really nice of TFO to reach out to you to provide this rod as give away prize. Cool beans 😎. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving buddy 🦃
Thanksgiving was wonderful! Hope you and the family had a wonderful holiday as well.
Another day trout fishing is better than not fishing. Small fish can still be fun. Looking forward to more trout action.
Can't wait to get back out there and find a bigger trout :)
I need to try the X-Rap! Thanks for the recommendation Christian :)
Ben Nowak, another awesome Michigan RUclips angler, is also connected to TFO, COOL STUFF!!!
Nice! Thanks Michael :)
As a lover of ultralight fishing, love seeing all the myriad ways to approach gear, lures, and locations. Keep it up!!!
Dang right! Thanks Daniel :)
That would be so epic! I would love to fish out west again :) Glad you are having fun with the light gear
It's still nice to catch dinkers. My last few fishing trips I'm either getting skunked or catching 1 or 2 but that ultra lite rod looks nice. Have a blessed day
Thank you Terrell I totally agree, especially this time of year!
Nice work Ethan, I can’t wait to get into some chunky peach as winter spins up. Tight lines 🎣🎣🎣🎣
Hope you catch some donkeys!
I have found the 5'6" length to be about right for the environment you show in the video. It is also good for the kid that is ready to step up from the cartoon spincast.
100% agree! I love the 5'6 and 6' lengths for most of my UL fishing
Glad to see you back into the trout that's actually why I started watching your channel keep up the good content
More where that came from! Hope to get back out soon!
Ultra lights are some of my favorite rods. I've never been huge on sizing my fish up, just love going out and catching them!
That is a dang good mentality :)
I love those blue fox minnow spins! They work great for steelhead too when they are feeding up. Ive caught a ton of browns and rainbows on them up north of M82
OOOH they work for steelhead? I better keep tossing it!
You're* I promise, I did go to college.
100% agree. That is how my story goes too. Started out bass fishing hardcore and have gravitated towards lighter gear and love every minute of it!
Thanks for scratching that fishing itch! We are between open water and ice seasons here in MN, I'd take a rotting log day of fishing right now!
This time of year is challenging haha I am so ready for ice!
I have really been eyeing some TFO stuff seems like real quality rods I haven't had the best of luck with trout this year but been killing the pan fish on the mule jigs and plastics!!
So happy to hear you are putting the gear to use! And yeah TFO is solid - definitely pleased with my gear.
I am so happy to hear this Ronald! Hope you are still catching them good! Getting cold up this way :/
Glad I found your channel.
Love the 5’6 rods for tight spots like that! Definitely easier to transport also. Also a blast to catch a bigger fish on.
100% agree! Thanks Ronald :)
so awesome for them to reach out to you! i've wanted to try TFO but already have rods to suit my needs. would be nice to have a friend of mine who has a hard time spending money on decent fishing gear
Thanks for watching Papi! Best of luck on the giveaway!
Big fan of TFO, have three of their rods from a ML, M, and H for myself and my uncle has one of their discontinued 7’6 H spinning rods that handles stripers like a dream. Can’t wait to get ahold of one of their ULs
That is awesome! I want to try their bass gear at some point too!
Love the channel and mule fishing. Especially love the commitment to clean up along the waterways. Thanks for doing this giveaway!
Thank you so much Mike! Doing my best and the support truly means the world to me. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving :)
There's a lot to be said for having the right gear for the right job, same can be said for fishing. Often times it's the difference between a frustrating day or a good day
Totally agree!!
I like my 6’6” TFO trout and panfish but the balance is toward the tip. It’s a great looking rod, and perfect for the smaller species.
You could try upsizing the reel a little bit to balance it towards the butt more. Good intel - I just got the 7' so I may use a 2000 reel on it!
Interesting! I might have to try rigging up a big creek chub :)
I just ordered the 6" 6' version, it should be here on Tuesday, I'm really excited! I'm just getting into trout fishing, I'm an avid bass fisherman and this season I wanted to start going after some trout! I've done ok, even caught an incredibly malnourised tiger trout!
AWESOME! Hope you catch some big ones on it :)
I love my TFO, they're amazing!
Shorter rod works wonders in areas with lots of vegetation like you said.
Thank you!
Dang right! Glad to hear you are loving yours :)
At least you’re catching fish at your steam! I went today and caught nothing (not even a bite!). I love your vids and just subscribed! Tight lines man!! 🎣🎣
Keep your head up and go find a big one next time :)
Love the the short ultralight rods, so versatile. Hoping to get into trout fishing at some point down here in southern Michigan around the Battle Creek/ Kalamazoo area
You aren't too far away :) Hope you make time to find some trout this winter!
Love your videos! It's hard water season up in the great white north already so it'll be a few months until I can do some Trout fishing.
Can't wait for the ice to get here! Thanks for watching & the kind words :)
@@FishAnything If only I shared that same enthusiasm for ice fishing haha.
Very awesome Ethan! I love the shorter rods for sure for creek fishing. I've been using a 4'6" half of the summer, and I love it. I like to hike way back in the woods to get away from crowds, so the shorter rod is perfect for portability. Awesome video buddy!
Thank you very much! A 4'6 rod is always a blast (no matter what size fish)
you should try the berkley gulp night crawler. maybe the 15 cm and you them in half.
trying to use a bullet jig head and hook the gulp as it can form (an L) letting the hook exiting on the tail part. the trout loves when the bait spin, and it creates vibration. you should try, i’m in italy and that thing can catch every type of trout, especially brown and rainbow.
if you want an idea on how to hook properly the night crawler you can search it on YT cause my english is not that good. Btw love your channel and the quality of your videos is awesome
p.s: the pink gulp is the most attractive one, even the natural one or as well, the white one
Thanks for the suggestion! Definitely have a lot to try for trout :)
Nice video. I ordered some of your Mull Jigs and really love them. You have developed a great product.
Thank you so much David! Glad you are liking them!
Some nice little trout! I wish I got to trout fish more. One of my favorite species to fish for. Though I normally fly fish
I need to get better at fly fishing! Thanks for watching :)
