Ain’t no better sight than seeing the Trout you’ve hooked swimming around as you bring it in especially when you can see it in the clear water & bright sunlight 😁👍🏼🏴
I’m just waiting to get picked up from my wee Brother to go fishing for a couple of hours can’t wait I’ve not been out much this season I’ll let you know how it goes ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
Yeah that was a beauty fish! I actually cut out quite a bit of footage. Took me a while to reel that guy in for sure! You could probably tell how excited I was haha
Awesome fish! I think I’d fish for trout more knowing monsters like that are around. As far as the river, I wonder if your fish head up there to spawn? You’re right, no sense being in there otherwise. Great video! 🎣📸
Spawning was my guess too. Otherwise head to the lake and live fat n happy! I knew there were big Dollys in there but that was kinda a surprise. Especially for a mountain lake
From what I know bull trout are heavily migratory. They live in large rivers and lakes for the winter half of the year. And when it warms up they go I to headwaters streams to spawn. I think. Still doing research. It's a fish I'd like to meet
Yeah I'm in agreement with you. Where I usually catch em, they're trapped by dams on either side. There is a lake with large inlets that the fish definitely migrate to tho
Nice trout! Do you get Grizzly bears in the North Cascades National Park? Also I’m from Indiana so we get our Great Lakes salmon/trout run and I think using ultralight might be a new thing to try!
Thanks! Grizzly bears are pretty rare in the North Cascades but they do exist. I carry... let's just say... protection haha Yeah I've seen some of those lake trout out there. I'd love to hook into one of those!
Aww man that was Awsome buddy I also fish with a UL rod 5ft 6 & my pb is around 3lb UL is way more fun even little fish give a great fight that was a beast I see someone here called it a Pup 😂 he’s either being sarcastic or extremely jealous 🤔 Nice1 👍🏼🏴
Thanks! That's a nice fish on an ultralight rod! Yeah I don't understand what he meant by "pup" ...it's clearly a giant trout for a mountain lake. Thanks for watching!
@@donaldstephensen8654 oh man that's awesome! I'm super jealous. Always wanted to trout fish/explore the Sierra. Maybe find a Golden trout. Well have fun man! Sounds like you'll catch lots of fish!
Yeah I mean in the grand scheme of things it's not that big.. but for a mountain lake.. it's a monster! I got kind of excited there. You are correct good sir! I didn't mention it but I will be releasing my top 5 favorite spinners and my top 5 favorite spoons videos soon. It will be #1.. best spoon ever! (It's a Little Cleo.. oh great I gave away the secret! haha)
For backpacking I would recommend a 5'6" ultralight medium-fast action rod. For day to day trout fishing I'd prob go with around a 6'6" rod. If you're not slaying monsters 24/7, the lighter rod you go with, the funner it'll be to land them trout!
Don't listen to this guy get yourself a 7 ft medium light or medium rod run 8 lb braid with 8 lb fluorocarbon leaders and get yourself at least a 2500 to a 3000 reel
THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!

Yeah that was a pretty rad fish to land! Had to fight him for quite a while. He was bigger in person haha. Thanks for watching!
This is EXACTLY why I just bought a micro rig. Can’t wait to get out back country
Hell yeah! That was super exciting fish to catch on light gear! Hope you get to get out into them there hills and get into some trout!

I caught a 5# and a 3# on the same rod different reel, it was one of the best days ever.
Oh nice! It's a fantastic rod. Love fishing with it. 5# huh? That musta been a fun fight
@@CascadeBackcountry It was an awesome fight, it was in a 6 ft deep hole, so I saw most of the fight.
Nice!

Little cleo red and gold!
@@CascadeBackcountry What size do u use with ur ultralight
Depends on the size of lake/fish but usually about a quarter ounce

@@CascadeBackcountry Nice! Not sure if you’d mentioned this already, but what is your rod/reel combo?
More sick views! That was a great trout. Congrats.
Yeah that was kind of a surprising trout to catch in a mountain lake! One of my favorite places for sure 😀
Awesome footage.
Thank you! Always learning 😀

@@CascadeBackcountry for sure bro.. tight lines brother
What rod are you using?
If I remember correctly.... this was the Fenwick HMX 5'6" or 6' rod. It's one of my absolute favorite ultralight rods!
Man what a fish!! I don’t think you mentioned what lure you caught it on?

Thanks! I am subscribed to your channel 😀 nice catches to you too!
That was awesome man. We should go fishing sometime!
Thanks! I assume you live in PNW. Be hard to go fishing is you lived in Germany or Brazil or something 🤣😂
Nice fish. Wher is that lake
Thank you! This is in the Cascade Mountain range in the great PNW
Getting new gear. What size rod should I get? 5’6 , 6, or 6’6? Or get two different size rods?

Just a pup dude not giant
I can’t figure out if you’re being sarcastic or just very envious 🤷🏼♂️
I am confused as well. This is a mountain lake and this is a giant trout for a mountain lake
