Backcountry Blacktail Deer Hunting - A Rainy First Attempt
Backcountry blacktail deer hunting. A rainy first attempt.
Do you like hunting, fishing and backpacking? SUBSCRIBE HERE: ruclips.net/user/CascadeBackcountry
Blacktail deer are known as the Grey Ghost. I spent a rainy 24 hours in the backcountry of the Cascade Mountains of Washington state hunting blacktail deer in the backcountry. In this little section of backcountry, we hunted and spotted some of the elusive blacktail deer, but like ghosts, they disappeared into the fog.

    Awesome video! The only grouse species in my area are Ruffed Grouse. There's Ptarmigan as well, but they are extremely difficult to hunt without a good dog, and you need to be a good wing shooter. Grouse are way better eating in my opinion.

    Great video! Also random question. I recently did a hike in a national forest that was somewhat popular. There was a lot of grouse. My question is I’m I allowed to go grouse hunting during the season even with the public hiking?

    • @CascadeBackcountry
      @CascadeBackcountry 6 дней назад

      @BilboSandbaggins tough question! If it's a national forest where hunting is allowed then yes, hunting is allowed. There are rules in the hunter's guide that state things about shooting withing x about of feet of like a road or building or maintained road so it gets a little tricky. If it is way out in the woods, I guess it becomes an ethical question. Is it really safe to hunt there? Without being there myself, I can only leave the answer up to you. Good luck out there! 😁

      @CascadeBackcountry for some reason and I'm not really sure why but I don't really like roostertails. Must be a feel thing 🤷‍♂️ but it's always interesting to see what other people like to throw

      Rooster tail for life! Haha Panther Martin is probably a close second or third for me though. A lot of people keep saying I gotta use Mepps but I've never been a huge fan

      @CascadeBackcountry mepps seem to get snagged up more often than and panther martin or a blue fox. Maybe it's just me. But I do like the rainbow trout with the tail mepps.

    Santiam fishing rods has several pack rods. They are high quality at a fair price. Both 3 and 4 piece rods wrapped in Oregon, come with a soft cloth and tube. My 5-1/2 foot 3piece has a lure rating of 3/32 thru 1/2 oz. Cork handles and a hook keeper. Great rods
