Shakira's moves are incredibly versatile. She does hip-hop in girl like me, belly dance, Salsa, Dance pop in She Wolf. She trully dominates her body and rarely uses backup dancers. Her shows is just her, dancing, playing instruments and her amazing and powerful voice
Correct. I don't like Shakira but it's obvious to me she's waaay much more advanced in dancing than Janet.
she flows with her body, which means she was born for it. It is natural unlike others artists who are great but it seemed like they trained hard

Actually Madonna’s dancing is so much more than Vogue only, try to watch her live MTV 1989 Express Yourself performance, Blonde Ambition World Tour, Girlie Show World Tour , Confessions Tour, Virgin Tour and Who’s That Girl World Tour , she really can dance very well
The routine she does at the end of 'La Isla Bonita' on 'The Girlie Show' tour is nothing short of amazing and sets the standard of many of these dancing with the stars performances. To say that Madonna doesn't have the moves of a Shakira is the most bizarre thing I've ever heard applied to Madge. Of course Janet is a well-deserved number one, but Madonna should have been higher than number ten and not just singled out for "Vogue'.

Something about the way Britney danced during her early career days was just so special. It felt like she danced with not only her body but her whole soul and heart.

Janet is the blueprint for choreo and dancing, no wonder new artists still pay homage to her moves. Britney in her prime was pretty good too, Aaliyah, Ciara and Beyonce are also very good dancers. Ciara is underrated!

Fantastic list! Every woman selected deserved to be among the pantheon of greatest dancing singers. Janet Jackson is and should have been the one to top the list because most of the stars that came after her have emulated or straight up borrowed movements from her catalogue and its almost impossible not to immediately spot the influence. Great job, Ms. Mojo.

@@lexkanyima2195 There are similarities and cross pollination, but Janet’s dance influence was more rooted in street dance, hip-hop, rave/house, swing dance, Broadway, and Caribbean movement, while MJ was more inspired by MGM classics, Broadway, street dance, disco/funk and Pan-African movements. Michael was more inspired by singer-performers like James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Little Richard and David Ruffin. Janet was inspired by song interpreters and dancers like Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, Joni Mitchell, Fred Astaire and Michael Kidd. Just because they’re related and Michael’s career was monumental, doesn’t mean she was copying and pasting from his work. It also implies that she would have no influence or artistic merit outside of her relationship to Michael. If anything, his biggest rival in the late 80s and throughout the 90s was Janet. She deserves her flowers.

Madonna danced with Alvin Ailey and Pearl Lang. She was Lang's star dancer at Spoleto (kinda like the World Series of Modern Dance).
Mya better had been on this list. She was a professional dancer as a teenager and one of the greatest dancers in the music industry. She’s so underrated and would dance circles around these tick toc “dancers” today.

I would say Janet, Beyoncé, Ciara, Shakira, Jlo, Tina, Britney and Normani are the best in this list. JLo and Shakira are also sometimes above to me because they have done so many dance genres with so much ease.

Mya is a better dancer than JLo, Beyoncé and Shakira. She is a natural dancer and has danced hip-hop, freestyle, ballet, tap, and salsa on Dancing with the Stars.

Jlo is more versatile since she can do tango, salsa, latin, hip hop, flamenco, freestyle, ballroom (in 'Shall We Dance?') and more athletic, but Paula's more agile, a little more natural, she has also GREAT skills in TAP and JAZZ and her choreography>>>>>
Madonna and Britney at her peak deserve a fair spot on here too. Madge appears more versatile as she can do classical, tap (Now I'm following you at Blonde Ambition Tour), tango (Die Another Day at Reinvention 2004), salsa (Lo que siente la mujer DWT), Flamenco (La Isla Bonita Ciao Italia 1987), Waltz (in Evita), the Jitterbug dance (in A League Of Their Own), actobatics (Sky Fits Heaven in DWT), latin (La Isla Bonita in Girlie Show 93) etc and she is naturally athletic. Britney in her peak had better Choreos though and also is very athletic.

Jennifer Lopez should be ranked within the top 3. Her versitality as a dancer is just unmatched. She does various dance forms and always incorporates multiple styles in her choreographies.
Also, she learned pole dancing, a very difficult and physically demanding dance form at the age of 50 that too within a few weeks which just shows how great of a dancer and a learner she is.
She's 52 and even at this big age she dances like she's in her 20s. She's definately one of the greatest dancers alive and deserves more credit and appreciation for it.

Kylie - as loveable as she is - is not a dancer in the same league as most of these women. She got better at choreography as her career lasted and the singles got better, but I'm afraid she's eclipsed by Cheryl Cole/Tweedy/whatever her surname is now who can certainly dance well enough for inclusion on this list.

Ciara is number 1 for me because she’s the best female dancer to me. With Janet being second for me. Janet is a legend so I understand why she’s number 1. I love Beyoncé but there’s so many other people included that are better dancers.

there is a musicality in janet’s dancing that isn’t in ciara’s. ciara is much more athletic in a way but janet’s technique and intricacies are unmatched. she basically inspired every woman on this listthat debuted after 1986.

@@carriel9954 as someone who has watched both religiously. janet is unmatched. yes ciara danced but if she didn’t twerk every now and then, the rest of her dancing actually isn’t as impressive. the rhythm nation tour alone is insane. janet embodies her choreo and it’s more than just performing 8-counts. she’s completely in sync with the music and her dancers.
