I’m playing Nouvelles. Nothing is more fun than summoning Hungry Burger after tributing their whole field. Plus the AGOV support really makes the deck better
Paul is a lot like me when it comes to deck building. I like playing my decks pretty pure as much as possible. I know certain engines can make a pure deck more consistant but I just like running something in archetype versus something with like two or more running together. Plus I'm basically known as the Waifu Duelist at my locals since most of my decks both competitive and casual are waifus.
I am the same way. I have maybe 3-4 decks that do include certain engines just because it helps consistency so much, but I feel like you lose the soul of the deck when you just smash some meta engine into it and remove in archetype cards for generic staples.
i’m the same my biggest pet peeve/annoyance with deck building is when i find a list and someone claims it’s a so and so deck and then it contains maybe 5 cards from the archetype and then the rest is just meta engines
Do you know how to build any decks that don’t contain many triples, I came from an era of yugioh where having 3 of everything wasn’t the meta and I liked that solely due to the variety I could play. Are there any good ones like that ? Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind a couple triple but where the meta is today I feel like there’s so many.
I really like the Resonator deck it’s a lot of fun. I love how Paul doesn’t like playing what’s popular it’s pretty funny 😂 I’ve also got all the cards for the Branded Chimera deck but haven’t tried it, my locals is pretty competitive so I typically play Dragon Link there. I want to build a Horus but haven’t decided the exact build for that yet. I also have Disaster Dragon, Welle-dad and Lightsworn build for playing Edison.
At our house we love having Multiple Deck. Currently I have Branded/Despia, Swordsoul, Darkworld. Still trying to finish off my Infernoble but I'm having a hard time finding Ogier and Maugis and trying to get a Inzektor deck together as well (I'm a fan of Kamen Rider). My son has a Beetrooper, Crystal Beast and he just finished a Tistina Deck (really cool deck). My wife has Traptrix & Gold Pride/Punk. We are trying to build her a Trickstar deck since it reminds of her 2 decks she ran back in 2005 before we quite which were Fairy and Burn (best of both she likes to say. We are having a hard time finding older cards since we just got back into the game in November or 2022 after we stop playing in 2006. But we are getting there 😁
I just started collecting again a few years ago and have been building a Blue Eyes deck (because I fell in love with Blue Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon ever since pulling him from the Gold Sarcophagus tin), and I just ordered 3 Crystal Beast structure decks because I pulled several Crystal Beast cards from Legendary Duelists season 1 and wanted to use them because they look really cool! Never watched GX, I do actually like the aesthetic of the Crystal Beast archetype. I would love to build an Exodia deck and a Kuriboh deck as well!
for me, i got tons of labrynth variant, (lab engine mixed with something else) got put ikea build, got a chimera trap build, got a red dragon archfiend build, dogmatika build, live twins build, and am looking for other themes that can be mixed in, may try generaider if honest always open to interesting suggestion tho and have a lot of fun playing it as purple cards are my fav lol
neat decks! i too like deck builder set if i can a budget archetype but my main decks are mayakashi, shiranui, zombies in general, crystal beast, cyber style, traptrix, gishki, and ice barrier, and shaddoll as well. strucure decks are my favorite sets after deck builder sets cause you get most if not all the key cards or full archetype, type, and attribute cards to build a playable(not competitive) deck.
Would love to have Alec show his favourite decks. One Piece (I'm just starting this), Ygo, Digimon, it'll be cool to see a little fan-out of his lists and what he likes. I've got my few pet decks and to keep the price down (so I can try other games) I usually just update them when I need to or borrow cards. I splashed out for Vanquish Soul and don't regret it, such a fun deck. I also have Zombies (Was Budget-Tear Danger Variant but I'm looking at PUNK if I can get Foxy Tune from my friends), HERO's and LiveTwin Spright (Picked these up ages ago luckily in trades through ots pulls).
I'm playing 1. Dinomorphia Exosisters The packahe was also supposed to include Cyberdark but with the prevalance of hand traps, i felt it was more important to have more handtraps 2. Live Twins DPE. Lots of blowing up of cards, fun casual and to teach new friends yugioh but 1000000% struggles against Unchained haha
I have a lot of decks in progress as well including, Ritual Beast, Eldlich, Floowandereeze, Dogmatika, I need to update Generaiders, Predaplant, and finally Ghostrick. I love all the decks shown in the video and they even gave me some new ideas! Thanks Paul!
I have an Igknight-focused deck in Duel Links that just needs a tweak to shine. Plus my chosen combos can still shine and prove themselves. The format is always interesting, if not frustrating (FfffUuuu Orcust).
It's always interesting to see the decks people run, especially when they're not just focusing on playing the latest and greatest meta decks. A mate of mine recently built Rikka himself and it's been a fun deck to play against. I've been considering looking into Labrynth and Generaider, but I've got a few other decks I want to try build first like Altergeist and Subterror, while continuing to update/tweak my existing decks like Karakuri and Lyrilusc.
Right now I have Branded Despia and Purrely Spright, but I'm thinking about building Branded Chimera since I already have the Branded cards and maybe Mannadium once the 2 Player Starter Set drops in January. I am also considering a Pend Deck due to all the AGOV support.
In terms of pure decks, I love playing Jack Atlas RDA deck (with staples) and floowandereeze. Floo is strong and you don’t need the other cards (Avian and the Monarch) for it to be strong. Just running the main deck with some other cards by itself is pretty good.
BRUH SAME!! And I am making pure fun decks. No handtraps, no negates or at least very little. They just feel so much more fun 'cause especially since I use low/mid-tier decks. Putting all the handtraps in like ash, called by, nib etc imo just makes the deck a little bit weaker actually and definitely less exciting. DEFINITELY. I've also realized I'm the type of player that loves to go fully deep into an archetype/type and do as much as I can with it. I'm currently working on a building an Amazoness, Zombie(that isn't skull servant), Insect, Hero but with mainly normal monsters and some Tenyi, Water(Umi and stuff), Star Warriors/Gearfried Warrior and a light fairy heal deck with Agents.

Very nice!!! I love seeing physical decks... wish I had a local scene. Do you particularly like decks that center on strong ladies (the waifu decks)? Or is it just that... if it's not a Dragon, most modern Yugioh decks ARE very femme centric? Idk. I pay extra attention cuz I would love to run a husbando deck but there just isn't much material for it, haha
There are *alot* of waifu decks in modern yugioh I find it kind of annoying... Husbandos, your options from the top of my head are probably Heros, (maybe) Vanquish Soul, Infenoble and Libromancer. Maybe Mannadium too althought it is all just one guy 😂
I have labyrinth, witchcrafter, and Rikka too. I need 1-2 more Arias, though. I need to finish putting Exosisters together . I'll be building centurian too
I mostly play classic decks based on DM and GX. However my main deck for more legit and less silly play is a Zefrw deck, using dismantling spells and graveyard effects to keep my monsters on the field while gettibg stuff out for a variety of synchros and XYZ.
Right now I'm running with PK Horus, but I'm working on a spicy deck I'm calling Invoked Gumbo, Invoked Engine with Dogmatica, PUNK and Quem and Cartesia. It's not the most consistent thing atm but it can really pop off.
Great video I'm rebuildiuilding old phantom knights deck used just added adventure engine too it got some horus cards for waiting till relearn lines better before adding them.
Been there........now I only use 3 decks Knightmare Kuribog Warrior Synchro And Fortune Cookie (basically a different version of the old stun deck .........)
Ah I see the Crimson King Structure Deck very nice. Been looking to buy that Structure Deck at some point. I recently tried playing Galaxy-Eyes yesterday for my Locals. I did poorly to say the least lol. But then again it was a new Deck I've been wanting to try out for months. But as far as my fav decks to play? Cyber Dragons which now that I have a playset of Therion "King" Regulus I can finally incorporate him and the ABC Dragon Buster package as well. Swordsoul is one I'm itching to play again. Branded Despia I haven't played in so long but I quite enjoyed playing that deck. Need to rebuild the Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX deck now that I got Blue-Eyes Chaos Dragon finally. Marincess was another fun little deck that I haven't played in quite some time. Then of course there's Dragonlink/Dragonmaids lol. And don't get me started with Dinos/Dinomorphia XD. Also played Normal Pendulum, @ignister, Sacred Beasts, Metalfoes, Rokkets etc... Need to finish building Odd-Eyes, True Dracos, Time Thief, Crusadia, Dinomist Dracoslayers, Amazoness, etc... Too many decks to choose XD
I'm currently looking for a deck that's affordable to build and would also be a decent deck to play competitively. But until then, I've got a Dark World deck, Lightsworns, BA and a Branded Deck that might do okay.
Last I checked plants are extremely affordable and won the European WCQ a couple months ago. Now that Regulus is pennies and the Rikka Xyz got reprinted, I don't think they have any expensive cards anymore (if you don't count TT Thrust), and the Aroma stuff coming out in PHNI might make them age pretty well. Edit: Also I think DW is pretty playable competitively. Certainly not bad.
Which yugioh deck should be my favorite?I have 2 favorites, the magician girls sisters and e.hero but they're too op and I don't want them for my top favorite,I want my top favorite to be supportive and to start slow, no one builds anymore by type and attribute, earth warrior, and my favorite card is sogen but that's a weak field spell, which deck should be my top favorite?
Yay another dogmatika player. I love playing dogmatika its one of my fav decks to play at locals. Although, my dogmatika variant is different. While it does mainly focus on ritual summon, it has some branded stuff in it.
Lets see for me i still run ancient gear (yes im old lol), zoo/tribergade, flower cardian, vampire zombies. I know the decks i run arent really meta, but i know with just a couple cards and some tweaking they can be good tourney decks. :P
How many decks would you say is too many? Because I have over 100 irl decks built, mainly just stuff I like with only about 20 being built and used for tournaments
As someone who can't afford irl yugioh, the likes of Legacy of the Duelist and now Masterduel have really helped me get into the game. If I were to play 1 deck in tcg however, I'd choose the one I've been playing since Link Evolution, that being Unchained, love my giant Angry Doggos

I am building a Dracoslayer pendulum deck, I dont have a pendulum deck so I decided to go for Dracoslayer(but now I want a vaylantz too), also I am preparing my raidraptor and Ice Barrier for the new support.
I love a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh! decks, but if I had to pick my top 10 decks, it would be: 1. Melodious, 2. Trickstar, 3. Solfachord, 4. Weather Painter, 5. Despia, 6. Aroma, 7. Rikka, 8. Marincess, 9. Shaddoll, 10. Fortune Lady
The problem I have is most of these decks are tier 1/2 and the channel is outright anti-meta and modem Yu-Gi-Oh!. This just seems like an odd thing to do when mainly you are so brazenly outspoken about addressing issues (which isn’t a bad thing at all and is good), and how un-fun the game is when most of these are in fact, or at least a majority are inherently control decks that play cards you’ve admitted you don’t like playing. Which is the problem when Vanquish is There Can Be Only One Spam. Rescue Ace is almost an auto win deck, Lab is a control trap deck with the ability to play floodgates. Dogmatika (which I actually enjoy playing a lot) and preventing your opponent from playing. Now some based archetypes like Red Dragon Archfiend, Witchcrafters, Generators, aside. It comes across as a tad hypocritical, personally. It’s nice to see different decks being made, but you either don’t know how busted they are - hell, even Scareclaw (a good and underrated deck), can he stall too going first), or just not sure. This may be too much in-depth thinking, but I remember the video on how Kashtira ruined the format because of one card, and then talked about how bad Yu-Gi-Oh! Is then and now this. That’s just me.
Yes paul, once again we are kindred spirits with Vanquish Souls and Generaiders, Red Dragons and Dogmatika, i adore these decks but also love libromancer, nouvelles and Mayakashi a
People sleep too hard on Reinforce imo, being able to recycle HQ if you run all the spells and traps at 1 like I do is so useful when your opponent has some backrow removal
You know I wonder if that's why I like you so much Paul? Like me you're not big into splashing in tech based things and play things mostly pure other than maybe one out of clan enabler for extending or quickly assembling something mostly to be anti-meta or protect our core monsters or strategies...and probably only when playing competitively on Master Duel itself or something where there aren't many theme tourneys or just casual rooms where 'mean cards' aren't allowed. Speaking of which I need send you that DM with some ideas to help organize the next room and find out what happened to my treat.
I'd have built VS had TCG Konami not rarity bumped the entire archetype. I want to finish Salamangreat, Battlin' Boxer, and Volcanic from Soulburning Volcano, but I'm a little tight on space. I'd have built Rescue Ace if Hydrant wasn't so expensive, same for Snake-Eye (Damn you TCG Konami). At this point, I only have Ninja, Machina/Symphonic Warrior (it could be better), and Plunder Patroll.
Always enjoy seeing what decks Paul’s got going on and seeing what he likes to play. Witchcrafters looks like a fun! I’ve got a Predaplant Branded Despia deck and a Runick Kaiju deck that I’ve been wanting to try out and I’ve got Superheavy Samurai, Lyrillusc and Gunkan Suships that I’ve got in the works as well.

I have to rebuild my decks ,due to a big lost whole collection left in my apartment while I was doing time in 2020,lost CDs, tapes, records, Sega Genesis,had streets of rage 2&3, street fighter,super Nintendo, had donkey Kong country 2&3,super Mario world and legend of Zelda link to the past,Nintendo ,had Simpsons vs the space mutants, Xbox,no games on that system,and my whole Yu-Gi-Oh collection 3 binders full of cards plus play mats, collection spanning from 2008-2018 in Yu-Gi-Oh products. Marvel universe series 1992, and comic book collection,was small but had a couple of number 1 and 2 from the 90ties era,X- man,spider man,alpha flight wolverine featured issue, spawn, image swim suit edition,street fighter 1&2 issue, and my 3 crates full of DVD movies.😢
I had a Blue eyes deck, a Yuma deck, a shark deck, a playmaker deck, a archfiend emperor deck two different builds, a atlantian deck, a grave keeper deck,a lunar light deck,a kiba structure deck rebuild, and a Yugi structure deck rebuild,a pendulum magician deck,a d/d/d deck,a Yami deck, a jaden deck and a krawler deck, all was 40 card buikds with complete 15 cards extra decks pure builds.

I know it can come off as edgy or whatever, but I do also like playing decks (at least partially) due to them being unpopular. It's nice to surprise people with something they never played against and finding out that it's competent despite the deck's reputation (or lack thereof). I've personally been on ogdoadics for over a year now and have been testing tons of different builds, with lair of darkness and reptiliannes and aliens. It at least helps keep things interesting, I do have a spright twin deck but it gets a bit boring if you play the same thing over and over and also a quarter of the people at your locals are running the same variant of the deck and you also keep running into it on ladder in MD

Ah I see the Crimson King Structure Deck very nice. Been looking to buy that Structure Deck at some point. I recently tried playing Galaxy-Eyes yesterday for my Locals. I did poorly to say the least lol. But then again it was a new Deck I've been wanting to try out for months. But as far as my fav decks to play? Cyber Dragons which now that I have a playset of Therion "King" Regulus I can finally incorporate him and the ABC Dragon Buster package as well. Swordsoul is one I'm itching to play again. Branded Despia I haven't played in so long but I quite enjoyed playing that deck. Need to rebuild the Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX deck now that I got Blue-Eyes Chaos Dragon finally. Marincess was another fun little deck that I haven't played in quite some time. Then of course there's Dragonlink/Dragonmaids lol. And don't get me started with Dinos/Dinomorphia XD. Also played Normal Pendulum, @ignister, Sacred Beasts, Metalfoes, Rokkets etc... Need to finish building Odd-Eyes, True Dracos, Time Thief, Crusadia, Dinomist Dracoslayers, Amazoness, etc... Too many decks to choose XD

I'm currently looking for a deck that's affordable to build and would also be a decent deck to play competitively. But until then, I've got a Dark World deck, Lightsworns, BA and a Branded Deck that might do okay.
Last I checked plants are extremely affordable and won the European WCQ a couple months ago. Now that Regulus is pennies and the Rikka Xyz got reprinted, I don't think they have any expensive cards anymore (if you don't count TT Thrust), and the Aroma stuff coming out in PHNI might make them age pretty well.
Edit: Also I think DW is pretty playable competitively. Certainly not bad.

Yay another dogmatika player. I love playing dogmatika its one of my fav decks to play at locals. Although, my dogmatika variant is different. While it does mainly focus on ritual summon, it has some branded stuff in it.

Lets see for me i still run ancient gear (yes im old lol), zoo/tribergade, flower cardian, vampire zombies. I know the decks i run arent really meta, but i know with just a couple cards and some tweaking they can be good tourney decks. :P
How many decks would you say is too many? Because I have over 100 irl decks built, mainly just stuff I like with only about 20 being built and used for tournaments
As someone who can't afford irl yugioh, the likes of Legacy of the Duelist and now Masterduel have really helped me get into the game. If I were to play 1 deck in tcg however, I'd choose the one I've been playing since Link Evolution, that being Unchained, love my giant Angry Doggos

I love a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh! decks, but if I had to pick my top 10 decks, it would be:
1. Melodious, 2. Trickstar, 3. Solfachord, 4. Weather Painter, 5. Despia, 6. Aroma, 7. Rikka, 8. Marincess, 9. Shaddoll, 10. Fortune Lady
The problem I have is most of these decks are tier 1/2 and the channel is outright anti-meta and modem Yu-Gi-Oh!.
This just seems like an odd thing to do when mainly you are so brazenly outspoken about addressing issues (which isn’t a bad thing at all and is good), and how un-fun the game is when most of these are in fact, or at least a majority are inherently control decks that play cards you’ve admitted you don’t like playing.
Which is the problem when Vanquish is There Can Be Only One Spam. Rescue Ace is almost an auto win deck, Lab is a control trap deck with the ability to play floodgates. Dogmatika (which I actually enjoy playing a lot) and preventing your opponent from playing. Now some based archetypes like Red Dragon Archfiend, Witchcrafters, Generators, aside. It comes across as a tad hypocritical, personally.
It’s nice to see different decks being made, but you either don’t know how busted they are - hell, even Scareclaw (a good and underrated deck), can he stall too going first), or just not sure.
This may be too much in-depth thinking, but I remember the video on how Kashtira ruined the format because of one card, and then talked about how bad Yu-Gi-Oh! Is then and now this. That’s just me.

People sleep too hard on Reinforce imo, being able to recycle HQ if you run all the spells and traps at 1 like I do is so useful when your opponent has some backrow removal

You know I wonder if that's why I like you so much Paul? Like me you're not big into splashing in tech based things and play things mostly pure other than maybe one out of clan enabler for extending or quickly assembling something mostly to be anti-meta or protect our core monsters or strategies...and probably only when playing competitively on Master Duel itself or something where there aren't many theme tourneys or just casual rooms where 'mean cards' aren't allowed. Speaking of which I need send you that DM with some ideas to help organize the next room and find out what happened to my treat.
I'd have built VS had TCG Konami not rarity bumped the entire archetype. I want to finish Salamangreat, Battlin' Boxer, and Volcanic from Soulburning Volcano, but I'm a little tight on space. I'd have built Rescue Ace if Hydrant wasn't so expensive, same for Snake-Eye (Damn you TCG Konami).
At this point, I only have Ninja, Machina/Symphonic Warrior (it could be better), and Plunder Patroll.

I have to rebuild my decks ,due to a big lost whole collection left in my apartment while I was doing time in 2020,lost CDs, tapes, records, Sega Genesis,had streets of rage 2&3, street fighter,super Nintendo, had donkey Kong country 2&3,super Mario world and legend of Zelda link to the past,Nintendo ,had Simpsons vs the space mutants, Xbox,no games on that system,and my whole Yu-Gi-Oh collection 3 binders full of cards plus play mats, collection spanning from 2008-2018 in Yu-Gi-Oh products. Marvel universe series 1992, and comic book collection,was small but had a couple of number 1 and 2 from the 90ties era,X- man,spider man,alpha flight wolverine featured issue, spawn, image swim suit edition,street fighter 1&2 issue, and my 3 crates full of DVD movies.😢

I know it can come off as edgy or whatever, but I do also like playing decks (at least partially) due to them being unpopular. It's nice to surprise people with something they never played against and finding out that it's competent despite the deck's reputation (or lack thereof). I've personally been on ogdoadics for over a year now and have been testing tons of different builds, with lair of darkness and reptiliannes and aliens. It at least helps keep things interesting, I do have a spright twin deck but it gets a bit boring if you play the same thing over and over and also a quarter of the people at your locals are running the same variant of the deck and you also keep running into it on ladder in MD
