What is confusing is that Dr. Davis says that most people have lost this strain of L. Reuteri, yet when I have read up on L Reuteri some articles claim it is a relatively new strain. To be honest I trust Dr. Davis more than these articles but I would like to understand the discrepancy. Hi Dr Davis, my wife and I stated making the reuteri yogurt after watching your video. We love it. However she is allergic to cows milk so now we are making it with goats milk. It comes out very thin although it's good tasting. My question is if it comes out really watery, is it still making a good amount of the reuteri? Or is there less? You said the watery part of the yogurt is even more concentrated with reuteri so we are assuming its okay. What do you say?
Question about mixing strains for anyone who knows: I am now making Shirota, L Reuteri, and Gasseri yogurts. I make them separately to get the highest bacteria yields. Does it matter of these are eaten at the same time or should they be spaced apart? Do they compete with one another? Also, eating a half cup of full half-and-half yogurt for each may be a bit too much fat, even for me:) Can you ferment longer than 36 hours to get even more bacteria and lower the serving amount? I have noticed that the appetite regulation Dr. Davis talks about only happens with the half and half not whole milk so for me anyway, I think the lowered appetite has more to do with eating gobs of fat than the bacteria itself. Just an observation.
Good question. I made them separately myself mixed them together in a cup. The batches came out beautiful because I set the temperature exact to the recommendation for that strain.
They work together and interact within the human body, so I'd presume they're doing the same thing anywhere else. There are, however, good and bad bacteria those do produce completely different chemicals from each other, compete with each other, and prefer differing environments than one the other.

So the 64 million dollar question would be if this wasn't LR right out of the gate was there enough residual strains available in the environment or attached to the inulin to produce such a successful result? It begs a further experimentation. Batch 2 was made in an instant pot with some of the previous culture plus a capsule of LR. Add about 10 capsules to your lukewarm milk and let it ferment for about 36 hours then add your regular yogurt culture and let it ferment for extra 4-8 hours .. then move it to refrigerator
I tried to ferment half and half with L Reuteri twice. Both times it tasted very wierd and unpleasant. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Is this the way it is supposed to be? I used the BioGaia pills as my starter.
Dr. Davis, Thank you for all you do, love the yogurt. Since buying your book, I have been making this creamy dessert for sometime now. Can you explain if the yogurt has any benefit or negative effect on fibrous plaque in the carotid arteries? I am 54 I have be diagnosed with 70% blockage on my left side. I would like to know that along with cutting wheat is the consumption of the yogurt beneficial to a person like me?
The immune system is required to clear the blockage so it will help, but you will only clear the blockage completely with some fasting of at leat 72 hours at a time.
Can L Reuteri be taken if someone have histamine intolerance? I was diagnosed with mast-cell activation and histamine intolerance after mold exposure last year. Lately, I have been having GI symptoms and pain after eating. For the last 2 months, I have been having GI issues like acid reflux and bloating after any meal. I took an antibiotic course for UTI last year.

I started with elimination diet (fatty meat , eggs and bacon) after 14 months and healing many many issues I found dr Davis so started the yogurt. I now get even more benefits. It is my opinion only but you should maybe research carnivore and low carb high fat diets?
Would consuming kefir interfere with L reuteri if L reuteri has colonised the gut? Or vice versa - if kefir microbes have colonised the gut, can L reuteri establish itself in the gut? Would the different bacteria compete?
I made my first batch in my instant pot. I used Biogia Osfortis because of the much higher CFU count than the Biogia Gastrus, 4 capsules of Osfortis (20 billion CFU's total) with 2 tablespoons of organic inulin in a slurry mixed into 64 ounces of organic whole milk that had been heated to 190° for 20 minutes. Best yogurt I've ever had. This is day three and I've noticed a decrease in appetite. Does anyone know if this less than, equal or more effective than the Biogia Gastrus? Thanks Dr. Davis and everyone.
The kind you were using might be a different strain than the stream he is specifically saying is the one to use. To see if you doesn’t really matter because when you make the yogurt it grows more. That’s the point of the yogurt is that you are cultivating more of the living culture
@@opdgrow4life There is information online that explains that the original strain that he advises was found to create a resistance to certain medications, so the strain available now is a "daughter" strain that does not have that problem. This has incredible potential, so why wouldnt any of the high profile proponents actually have a CFU test done (Dr. William Davis) ? I would think it's crucial to have a general idea of the potential CFU count of reutri 6475 in each batch. Has anyone done this yet? If not, I will....
Question for Dr. Davis or makers of the sugar-blocking probiotic Dr. Davis' friends makes: Can this product be fermented into yogurt also. I would like to buy it but it would be prohibitively expensive to take exclusively without being able to ferment it. Thanks

I used Sainsbury's So Organic full fat milk......however I have to heat it to 82°C for 20mins to kill any remaining bacteria...the 50/50 used in the US is ultra pasteurised therfore it was recommended to heat the full fat milk that we have. Used a sous vide instead of the insta pot as it gives a more consistent temperature. Just waiting now only 20 hours left....I'll let you know how it turns out

Hi Doctor, my husband and I have been on an elimination diet for four months from your book Wheat Belly , and we have both broke out in dry patches all over our body. I think it's normal , how long does this last?
Are you making sure that the foods you ARE consuming contain all the necessary vitamins, minerals and other nutrients you need like vit D, vit B3, etc? Sometimes a rash could be due to a nutrient deficiency. Or perhaps a fungal infection.
I can't start it yet because milk products inflame my psoriasis and my gut hasn't fixed its leak yet because I just started the wheat belly life. So it might take some time. Any one have any thoughts or tips ..?

@Papa M Jose Yes Papa...It is around $25 for 30 tablets. I don't take them every single day so a box lasts me nearly a month and a half. Also as mentioned by the good doctor, the bacteria count is significantly higher when cultivated in the yogurt. But making the yogurt is problematic for those with time constraints and no (100 degree) yogurt maker. So I am the guinea pig for whether the lower bacteria count is sufficient to help maintain my handsomeness, now that I am officially elderly (65)!! I also use an Oxytocin Spray and between the two I have seen major skin improvements, between healing, much less bruising and a significant lack of facial wrinkles. I think these collagen effects are real. It might have also been beneficial for my musculoskeletal injuries along side the PRP injections I received. Of course the real benefit is suppose to be my gut flora. Too bad I just can't tell this by looking in the mirror...or climbing the local hills!!

I am interested in incorporating reutori into my existing yoghurt culture By adding a capsule . Is that ok to do so ? Also any comments on its effects on breast cancer ?
Add about 10 capsules to your lukewarm milk and let it ferment for about 36 hours then add your regular yogurt culture and let it ferment for extra 4-8 hours .. then move it to refrigerator
Is it in bovine colostrum? Or bovine kefir?
I got Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17648. Is this a good one?
Dsm17938
There is a probiotic product called Reuteri made by Natures Way. Is this stuff okay, does it work too?
Great video, much appreciated thanks!
Histamine effect?
Same boat. Have you tried it?
@@vins7cv139 It raises my histamine and gives me itchy eyes and fatigue. It gives my husband heartburn.
very good video thanks
Dr. Davis, what is the recommanded daily dose of L. Reuteri yoghurt to consume to obtain the listed benefits? One 1/2 cup per day? Thanks !
I see you didn't yet a reply. It seems that the literature states 1/2 is recommended. I always eat a little more because I like to flavor it.
@@mylittlekittens Thank you !
Is L. Reuteri DSM 17938 of BioGaia the same as L Reuteri Vitalis of Symphonia Reuteri?
Thanks
That's what I want to know 😄
Mine is DSM 17648
Thank you Dr. Davis. May I ask why not just take the gastrus supplement directly? Why is it important to make a yogurt out of it?
The Gastrus tablets don't have much L. reuteri at all. But a good starter.
Does the yogurt help or with fibrosis?
How do I test my yogurt to see if and how much good bacteria it has?
WHy the heck does it keep coming out so darn sour???
I wonder whether you can get more health benefits by combining a number of the different strains of L. reuteri?
Been making the yogurt for the past year and I love it,I have psoriasis and follow your book, but not seeing any changes.Had g i map and have h pylori been doing mastic gum for 4 months.
Pretty sure I killed it going to test again this week.
If it’s gone what am I missing that I am not clearing.
I started with elimination diet (fatty meat , eggs and bacon) after 14 months and healing many many issues I found dr Davis so started the yogurt. I now get even more benefits. It is my opinion only but you should maybe research carnivore and low carb high fat diets?
Vitamin D3! Get your level up above 80 and your skin issue will disappear.
Low bile or stomach, sometimes both.
Great stuff! Very interesting.
Would consuming kefir interfere with L reuteri if L reuteri has colonised the gut? Or vice versa - if kefir microbes have colonised the gut, can L reuteri establish itself in the gut? Would the different bacteria compete?
where's microbe mania episode 2?
Can you use heavy whipping cream instead of half and half to make the yogurt?
I would love to know 🤷♂️
yes. just makes very thick product
Half milk/half cream mix is the best option.
if someone can't eat yogurt because of the smell is there any alternatives
thanks in advance
ATCC PTA 6475 is the only strain in it. 10 billion CFU'S per 2 capsules.
@@opdgrow4life There is information online that explains that the original strain that he advises was found to create a resistance to certain medications, so the strain available now is a "daughter" strain that does not have that problem. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the information, but I could not find the strain recommended by Dr. Davis, so I hope it is correct.
i will go with osfortis as well, much more potent.
@@777rogerf the strain he talks about is " l reuteri" and the one in biogaia gastrus is meant to inhibit the gene MAO B responsible of depression, Parkinson and much more. When you have a slow MAOB you use a lot of serotonin which is supposed to convert to oxytocin.... search for how l reuteri is beneficial for some neurological diseases.
Where can I get some cheap to try before I invest?
How long before benefits kick in on average
I have tried making it twice & had it not turn out both times. My chooks got it the first time. The second failed batch I’m pressing into cheese. I am in Australia so, cannot source ultra pasteurised milk but I heated my milk to 180 f then cooled it down to 100 f before adding to inulin & crushed tablets. I used my sous vide set to 100 f for 36 hours. I have 10 more tablets left so, I will try again. Frustrating when many, many people are making it successfully….
Joy, hope by now you’ve succeeded. My first three batches were problematic. Each time 1 jar out of 2 was foul. My later batches were perfect though. I disinfect using my dishwasher.
Can store bought yogurt be added as well as the tablets?
I'm totally shocked that apparently there hasn't been a single person to test the CFU of 6475 in the yogurt. This has incredible potential, so why wouldnt any of the high profile proponents actually have a CFU test done (Dr. William Davis) ? I would think it's crucial to have a general idea of the potential CFU count of reutri 6475 in each batch. Has anyone done this yet? If not, I will....
It would be different depending on how long it was left to culture and temperature and other conditions
i believe he mention twice that it around 90 billion. or is that not what you’re asking?
Did you get the cfu count done? Any ideas?
Well Robby? What did your results find ?
@robbymarch1666 .Have you tested CFU of 6475?
Question for Dr. Davis or makers of the sugar-blocking probiotic Dr. Davis' friends makes: Can this product be fermented into yogurt also. I would like to buy it but it would be prohibitively expensive to take exclusively without being able to ferment it. Thanks
Which probiotic is sugar blocking?
Without looking I thought this sounded like Dr. Oz.
Can we do the same mix with water for the same result
No. It needs the sugar from the milk to eat and grow
Is it good to add glycerol to the L.Reuteri culture?
So using tablets only does not help at all? More l.reuteri is needed via fermentation?
Not at all, but it will go from hundred millions to billions. And you can use the old batch to keep on generating more. Saving money.
Also much easier for body to absorb in yoghurt form .
Can I use L- Reuteri in fermenting kimchi?
Bought a Luvele yogurt maker and some Bio Gaia .... Made my first batch using single cream and inulin and 10 x bio gaia ..... it seperated so i stirred it and put in the fridge it's very smelly and sour and looks more like cottage cheese have added it to smoothies and the taste is bearable , so i'm going to use 2 tablespoons of it for my next batch ..my question is do i need to use another 10 x bio gaia tablets for my second batch aswell as the 2 x table spoons? I'm in the UK so cant get hold of half and half .. what is everyone else using ? i tried single cream for my last batch .. was that wrong ?? open to suggestions . Thanks in advance
Just waiting now only 20 hours left....I'll let you know how it turns out
1st batch was whey and curds 2nd batch was perfect!
You only need the tablets for the 1st batch
When making this yogurt, does it go directly into the fridge once the 36 hours is up?
Yes, for 12 hrs. I put a code filter on a strainer, put the yogurt on top, then set the strainer over a bowl, & put in the fridge. We like it thick. I’ve been using the whey to make subsequent batches. It’s been great!
So what is the strain against helicobacter pylori? What strains of L Reuteri do you want to populate in my stomach? Thanks
L reuteri pylopass brand for h pylori
Biogaia Gastrus is made of those 2 strains which are potent against H pylori
Do you drain the liquid part when it’s done or mix it all together?
Scott, I had that same question. I decided to mix it all together so I would get maximum reuteri. I add the 4oz to my smoothie of natto, strawberries, and broccoli. After six months, I do feel stronger in my legs, hips and thighs. I'm still balding on my 76 year old scalp, but the smoothie is much tastier.
If you strain the whey(liquid) it is creamier and has a lower glycemic index. Also the whey can be used for the best batch as a starter.
Drain whey
Since i started eating this yogurt, it does help with sleep but i noticed that my blood sugar is higher and i dont get jnto ketosis. Is anyone else having this issue
how did you solve this problem, is it getting you out of ketosis?
@@DAMIAN_SVHETS we've actually stopped making this yogurt. The batches weren't turning out, they kept curdling and separating. I know this happens with the first batches but I couldn't get any batches to come out like yogurt. I haven't made it in almost a year
What can I do if I don't tolerate dairy well?
Hi there 😀
I make it with 1 liter/quart organic soy milk, only soy and water!, 2 teaspoon xylitol, 1 teaspoon psyllium husk powder, mix it well into a slurry in 37 degrees celsius soy milk, then pour it into the rest of the milk, then into my crockpot on sous vide program on 37 degrees celsius, for 36 hours, it worked fine, and taste fine as well 😀👍
Hope this helps!.
I cant do cows milk as well!
Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
Reading the comments on Amazon, it looks like the consistency is unpredictable for the brand BioGaia! Apparently, many people said their package have arrived with DEAD bacteria because they cannot get them to grow in the yogurt. So far, no one has suggested an alternative product that contains these specific strains. If anyone knows, please help everyone by posting where you got it.
@@mrdanielvelez, that's what i use too.
I use 4 tablets, temperature not higher than 35 C or 95 F. If the temperature is too high, they die.
Metagenics brand has a version with both Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus rhamnosus … in Canada it’s marketed as “UltraFlora® Women's”
@@BonjourCoco1 But only one type can be cultured at a time. I want to try it for direct consumption, so thanks for the tip. .
@@777rogerf didn’t know only one variety would work at a time … have been trying the biogaia and initially had success but the last 4 times the cream has separated and it doesn’t taste like yoghurt like my first 3-4 batches did. Used new tablets too, from original package and a new package 🤔
Does l reuteri contain c15?
Not new, rediscovered.
I made my first batch recently.
The top half of the yogurt was smooth and semi-solid, just as expected. The bottom half was a mixture of liquid and curds.
Did I do something wrong? Did I give it enough time, or not enough? Any help is appreciated.
I normally heat whole milk for about 20 - 30 minutes. Then let it cool for about 30 minutes. Then proceed with the rest
He said in his book that the first batch would be that way. My first batch was like that too. My subsequent batches were solid and not runny at all.
Same. First batch curdy and whey. Next two so far are great!!.
Thank you
Why do u need 10 tablets please? some say only 3 are needed and why not just use full fat.milk ???
Are bacteriocins active against H pylori?
I think so. There is another strain of Reuteri -- it's DSM 17648-- that's used to treat H Pylori. It binds it and pulls Pylori out of the stomach somehow.
African Americans don't tolerate dairy well. Would taking this be a problem for African Americans?
Buy it in chewable tablet form.
Does L-Reuteri raise insulin in your body?
Good question!
@@olilumgbalu5653 Also, if you are eliminating foods high in oxalates this can cause skin flare-ups.
I can't start it yet because milk products inflame my psoriasis and my gut hasn't fixed its leak yet because I just started the wheat belly life. So it might take some time. Any one have any thoughts or tips ..?
@@mrdanielvelez The pill?
Use raw milk, factory milk is homogenized milk. I use raw milk I don't heat it before. 35 C or 95 F. 24 hours, 6 hours cooling down in the fridge. Ready too use.
The sugar is what causes problems. Make sure to use full fat milk or half and half
Jesus, the links have a security breach and are flagged as unsafe. That's both blog links. I've never run into this before. Might be a scam.
There is some kind of security breach with the websites, so whoever is the site administrator of the wheatbellyblog site and the undoctored site needs to do some repair work. At the moment those sites are unsafe.
is it in kefir?
In small amounts compared to the yogurt, but yes it is in kefir
Can you just take the Gastrus by itself...(one tablet a day)? Getting involved in yogurt making is not easy or possible for everyone...
