@@SleeperdudeAn intresting family fact in my family. My great Grandfather used to deliver mail with Charles Lindberg. My great grandparents owned the land connected to the St Luis International airport. Which the airport bought their land and incorporated it into what's there now. My grandmother was born at the end of where their longest runway is now. Charles used to deliver mail and take my great Grandfather with him. My great grandparents would let Charlie stay the night when the weather was bad and when he was to tired to go on. Over the many years they became very close friends. I just like to tell the story because in away it keeps the story alive. I'm on my last leg and my adult kids don't understand the significance of Charles Lindbergh, his life and that relationship to him. My family took that same trip back in 1980. Little known fact, for those who are not from Southeastern Michigan, the outside border of the Henry Ford/Greenfield village is one of the many Ford proving grounds. They have a speed track there, a brake testing facility and multiple other things, and 15 miles from there is what's known as the River Rouge plant, which also has tours, but you will see a lot of Ford motor company insignias all over the place bordering Greenfield village..

Josh’s enthusiasm is infectious, he gets as excited or more excited than the kids. The Ford village museum was fantastic. I worked on a shut down in the Ford plant in Oakville ,Ontario back in the 70’s. They were replacing the bakery ovens in the plant. Our work started on a Sunday morning, they had shut down the ovens on the last shift on the Friday. The work area above the ovens was still over a hundred degrees by Sunday morning. The Henry Ford Museum, has been a bucket list item for myself. But i been dealing with cancer, thanks to you and your family i finally got to visit it. THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR TAKING US ALONG.
So moving that big equipment was done with steel rollers ans either mules or later tractors. An old friend of mine was a mining engineer and in one instant they had to move in a huge machine into a building with the piece needing to go into a square hole. It was winter so he flooded the floor and hole with water then opened the doors froze the water, then pushed the machine into place. When the ice melted the machine settled into place.Just a piece of forgotten history. Thanks for sharing your trip.
We had a neighbor who had one of those big black steam tractors. Very rare machine. He'd throw a big BBQ the last weekend in July and have his antique tractor club members driving some his old tractors around his ten acre homestead. They even had plowing contests to see who could drive straightest and deepest. The highlight was the steam tractor. Very cool.

What company if you don't mind me asking? I'm glad to hear that he's still alive and well. 343 of his brothers got lost that day and they certainly didn't get forgotten. I fly the fire department remembrance flag every year on 9/11 September 11, 2001 was a very dark and scary day I have never forgotten about what happened that day.
I was the first one at work to hear the news. I listened to a radio station that broadcast from the Empire State building. The guy saw the plane hit and was confused and kind of not sure if what he saw was real. I started telling other employees and they said it was not possible. By the time the second plane hit so many people were trying to get in line the server couldn’t keep up.

Great to see my favorite internet family out for another Station Wagon road trip ! I loved that 1956 Chevy Nomad Wagon you passed in Kentucky. As a boy my Mom and Dad had a 1956 Nomad Wagon in blue and white that I rode all over Connecticut in. The transmission eventually gave way and the car went to the junk yard. I really wished Dad kept that one. I will enjoy your road trip. Thanks for the video. P.S. - Your A/C ductwork is Genius, Keep Squeezy cool at all costs !
@reneprovencher8395 Rain, i wish i could hear stories that come from your family tree. I'm kinda jelly about you hearing the real past. Blessings awesome real women! I think you kick butt!!! I mean that in a good way!

Thanks again for sharing your travels around that great voluntary. To see the different geology, and historical attractions was just fantastic. We very much look forward to the next instalment. Great film.❤😊

Man, thanks for taking us on another Sleeperdude family vacation! This helped me get through half of my 5.5 hour drive home on the desolate back roads of Texas.
I loved the view of Cinncinatti coming north on I-75 north of the I-71 junction. It's all open countryside and you turn a corner and you get an aerial view of the city.
Don't forget to register a patent on that hillbilly air condition accessory. Its rightous how the kids all at this moment in time have a united appetite to take in all theses historical sites. The family unity will provide a strong front to your foray into Yankeeland.WHAT a gift you are giving your family Marge and Josh, and to us also.Thank you.
I made one similar to their design. I had the tube hooked up to the vent and tge other end going into the bottom of one of those cheap 2 dollar cup holders you hang off your door. Sure kept my🥤 drinks 🧊cold🧊.
Everybody knows that Marge is the REAL RUclips star here. At least among those over 18... I still can't decide which of the kids is the biggest star. 😅
The wife and I visited The Henry Ford museum and Greenfield Village in 2023. It happened to be Motor Muster weekend. One full day at THF and two full days at the village. We did the one year membership so all the extras were incuded. Listen to the audiobook version of The Vagabons during the drive there. Also went down to Dayton, OH, to visit the Air Force museum.
I would like to thank you very much for video of you guy's on holiday. I have enjoyed every minute of it. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it. Best of luck paddy from Ireland.
I'm with you, we're in a similar boat. I am lucky enough to have retired early so we are working on road trips to the National Parks. We hit your area first this summer. Next summer is already in the works! This is a great trip! We're in NJ, born and raised, hope you are pleasantly surprised, its a beautiful state!
Josh aka sleeperdude. I wanted to let you know how much you have helped me understand everything on cars. What each part is and how it's put in the engine. You made the video very entertaining. The only thing I will never understand is the PCI's and the impeccable knowledge that you are able to remember the specs and pressure etc for most engines. Also the years it was put out. I can never and will never remember any of that or understand it. When I had my car (93 Chevy Cavalier Z-24.) I wanted to know how to fix the thing myself. So I didn't have to take it to the garage. But know one would help me understand the in's and outs. Well it's too late for my car. But maybe I can help somebody else's. That hotel that's round is by me. Just a few streets over from me. The restaurant is on top and it spins around.
Wow! Great to hear that you came to my home town, NYC. I drive in the city every day, and would have been happy to be your guide! I guess we'll see that in a future episode.
Wife and I dated in a 56 Ford half ton like the one on display there. That was 48 years ago. I enjoy seeing family's being good to each other and working together to get somewhere. You two have done a great job We raised six kids now it's the grand kids 👍
Thank you for taking us along. These are places I will never see. I stayed a week in New York. I made a promise to myself, I would never go back and this was back in 1979. I can't imagine what a place it is with all the crazy things going on today. Stay in the good parts if there are any left. Liked and shared.
Thanks for taking us on your road trip. It was very interesting. The ford museum is something my husband and I would like. Can't wait to see more videos of your trip. We will be heading down to knoxville next week ❤
Thank you all so much for this video. I really appreciate seeing these places and your commentary. I wasn't interested in history when I was in school, I thought it was all just "names and dates" back then. Now I find it fascinating, and it's likely I will never be able to see the Ford museum myself. I really look forward to your videos. I'm an "escaped Yankee."I retired last October, and we moved here to Tennessee, and it's been great. Hopefully I'll get to meet you all sometime. Have a fun trip, and again, thank you for the fun and informative videos. All the best to all of you, from Kingsport.
Detroit was the Silicon Valley of the early 1900s. The smartest engineers in the world worked there. Huge deals were made in bars. All glory is fleeting.
Everything is nice until you overregulate, put tax burdens and greedy government on a city. Easy way to make business leave and hollow out your economy.
Detroit died because of white flight, mismanaged city & Wayne County government, AND ABOVE ALL, EXCESSIVE UNION RULES & WAGES CONCEDED DURING ECONOMIC GOOD TIME, LABOR STRIKES. These concessions were UNSUSTAINABLE in economic downturns coupled with the Oil Embargo and continued higher energy prices. This required a drastic change in automobiles such as the small Mustang II & the Chrysler "K" car, etc. The demographic shift AND NEW CITY GOVERMENT POWER GRAB did NOT plan for Detroit's future. Crime & Drugs took over; and, the city was a ghost town at night for the white collar workers there during the day. A Democratic town, Mayor Coleman Young called Republican Ronald Reagan "Prune Face" before Reagan was elected president. Adjacent Windsor Canada was totally different, a tale of two cities.

Another fantastic video, thank you for taking us along! I was lucky enough to visit Detroit about 9 years ago with a couple of Mustang loving English friends. We were visiting with local friends who had worked in the car industry for years, so as well as visiting the HFM and the Rouge Plant, they also took us along Woodward Avenue (we missed the Dream Cruise by a week!) and lots of other cool car related places. The Roush Collection is well worth a visit too. Oh, and Flat Rock is where they build the Mustangs :)
If you like graveyards, you'd get along with my dad. He does graveyard tours and does seminars on researching your family tree. He also volunteers at three or four historical societies in his area.
Was not expecting a summer trip, and yet here we are with a true full feature length vid of it. By the time TN circles back around, we're going to be into full on documentary mode!! What a great trip we all get to be a part of!! Thank you Sleeperdude crew for sharing your adventure!!
Ford Motor Company was a economic engine of innovation & growth for Sotheastern Michigan. It made sense that he worked for Thomas Edison as an Engineer before inventing his gasoline powered Quadricycle. While he did many great things, his greatest contribution was the mass production, assembly line. This company built the blue collar, affordable Model T. In 1908, the car cost $850. It came in any color you liked, AS LONG AS IT WAS BLACK. He gave mobility to the world, almost as glorious as Prometheus giving fire to humanity.
I grew up in East Dearborn. I went to Fordson High School, a beautiful building designed in Collegiate Gothic (class of 1976). The Ford Tractor was our mascot "Oil Job, Oil Job !" was our slogan to root on our football team. A SINCERE THANK YOU FOR THIS TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE 😊 Texan for 42 years.
Congrats on another epic family vacation. I visited friends in Detroit in 2019 when I came over from OZtralia to do Dragweek 2019. I spent a great day from opening to closing @ the Henry Ford museum, then roadtripped to Watkins Glen in a 1983 Motorhome. Your travels bought back so many great memories.
I am a fan of your channel. Welcome to my hometown Detroit. It's not as bad as they make it out. My family grew up across the street from Greenfield village
to be fair henry ford museum is so far out from the bad area and its the people in Downtown who will scream that Detroit is fine but if you go a few miles outside of it you see the real Detroit. I say this as someone who lives in Windsor and would go to Michigan every week
Actually the Eastern Market, the Blue Light district & Corktown are very nice. My Busia’s father & uncles built a house on Parkwood St. that still stands today. It’s over 100 yrs old.

Road trip !!
Fantastic I love to have a look around your country. Thank you SD family 2x👍
Thank you
@@Sleeperdude Im a UK equivalent of a red neck but drove through the Lincoln Tunnel onto Manhattan and caused chaos finding The Waldorf Astoria years back. 🤣🤣 We then drove to Boston, then York PA in Amish country, it was a great trip.
I grew up 20 mins from Sandusky, Ohio in Port Clinton, Ohio. I lived about 5 blocks away from Lake Erie a majority of my life. See the end of this video sure makes me miss home!
That’s right thank you
OMG that sticker on the back of the car " Big Booty Judy "🤣😅
Yes!!!
Loved your stop at Annie Oakley's grave. Your like me I love to go through cemeteries and looking at the stones.
My Granny was born in 1886. She road horses before she ever saw a car. She was my hero and a pioneer. 😎

Rain, i wish i could hear stories that come from your family tree.
I'm kinda jelly about you hearing the real past. Blessings awesome real women! I think you kick butt!!! I mean that in a good way!
For Heavens sake , will you PLEASE replace that coolant sensor ! 🧐 😄
1:14:58 So awesome! Thanks for filming it - so interesting, the whole property as a fingerprint from Henry Ford's nostalgia, passion and sense of historical significance. So cool.
Thanks for watching
Another wonderful virtual tour! THANK YOU!
No problem
Thanks again for sharing your travels around that great voluntary. To see the different geology, and historical attractions was just fantastic. We very much look forward to the next instalment.

Man, thanks for taking us on another Sleeperdude family vacation! This helped me get through half of my 5.5 hour drive home on the desolate back roads of Texas.
Ready for this amazing video thanks Josh and family

Hi from England 🏴, such a joy to watch your shows, such a loving family, enjoy your road trip fantastic, take care xxxxx
Thanks so much! 😊
I loved the view of Cinncinatti coming north on I-75 north of the I-71 junction. It's all open countryside and you turn a corner and you get an aerial view of the city.
Wright Paterson Airforce base museum! Dayton Ohio, awesome place!
👍
I try and get there once a year.
I always love going on adventures with you guys. "Sleeper Dude its a family thing"
Thank you
Don't forget to register a patent on that hillbilly air condition accessory.
Yankee-Land, that's funny. I was born in NY then we moved to Conn. Now I'm living out west in New Mexico!!
Wow thats a great trip. For the kids out there that get this lucky man 🤌🤌🤌🤌

I did not get enough sleep last night, but duty calls, new sleeperdude video
I hear ya

Everybody knows that Marge is the REAL RUclips star here. At least among those over 18... I still can't decide which of the kids is the biggest star. 😅
🤣🤣
@@SleeperdudeSurely Grannie is the biggest star but she’s not exactly a ‘kid’ anymore!
See what I did there? 😂😂😂😂

Do they still give out free copies of mein kampf?
@Paul1958R why do you want to know that? Is your copy getting dog eared?
I would like to thank you very much for video of you guy's on holiday. I have enjoyed every minute of it. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it. Best of luck paddy from Ireland.
Thank you for watching
I'm with you, we're in a similar boat. I am lucky enough to have retired early so we are working on road trips to the National Parks. We hit your area first this summer. Next summer is already in the works! This is a great trip! We're in NJ, born and raised, hope you are pleasantly surprised, its a beautiful state!
Very cool!!!
I hope so too thanks
Wow! Great to hear that you came to my home town, NYC. I drive in the city every day, and would have been happy to be your guide! I guess we'll see that in a future episode.
Yes thank you 😊 coming soon
Oh wow! You guys were in my neck of the woods! I grew up on going to the Henry Ford museum and greenfield village! Love that place! Hope you had fun.
Very cool yes we loved it

i'm a history nerd..i LOVE this video!!! now i need to go to Michigan!
Thank you so much glad you enjoyed it
Always making my weekend better.

The Henry Ford Museum is awesome! I've only ever been there once and I live in Michigan. I'd love to go again.
Yes it’s great
I grew up in Jackson and have never been.

Thanks for taking us on your road trip. It was very interesting. The ford museum is something my husband and I would like. Can't wait to see more videos of your trip. We will be heading down to knoxville next week ❤
Thanks for watching!
I was the same way in school
Detroit was the Silicon Valley of the early 1900s. The smartest engineers in the world worked there. Huge deals were made in bars. All glory is fleeting.
Thank you
Everything is nice until you overregulate, put tax burdens and greedy government on a city.
Demographics are destiny. No other variable really matters.

That 35 mph on the highway that big turn is called dead man’s curve. Cleveland local here. Love y’all’s videos!

Love your channel Super dude and Family
You are so kind

Makes sense
Actually the Eastern Market, the Blue Light district & Corktown are very nice. My Busia’s father & uncles built a house on Parkwood St. that still stands today. It’s over 100 yrs old.
